We came in to have a quick byte to eat and a drink because both Oggis and Islands had a 30-40 minute wait. We sat at the bar to speed things up and enjoy ourselves. The food and drinks came out quickly once ordered. The spring rolls were good. The food rest of was ok. Sorry, nothing really special to write about. One of the things that all of us noticed was the bartender was dry as a piece of toast. Hopefully it was just an off night. Maybe it is an understaff issue because there was only one bartender. The rest of the restaurant was not full and lively.

I’ve tried to come here once before and got turned away even though we showed up 45 minutes before closing. That experience plus the bad reviews left a really bad impression on me. I think they do suffer from understaffing and inconsistent food and service.However, I gave it another shot on a weekday towards end of night and had a surprisingly pretty good experience. It wasn’t busy. The banh mi shocked me at how good it was. 10/10 very good quality and fresh. My chicken pho was 6/10. Not really that good at all. Broth was super plain and noodles were on the soggy side. I couldn’t finish it. My boyfriends beef pho was actually pretty good. Broth was flavorful but noodles a tad bit soggy. 8/10. The staff was nice and attentive. The atmosphere is an updated and refreshing interior that’s comfortable and clean. Overall I think I would take my Vietnamese family here if we’re in the area but explicitly avoid the chicken pho.

My best Pho experience ever, special noodle $13 and huge pork rib for $18, price is very affordable, beef bun and pork rib are my favorites, nice dining environment setup and inside of a nice mall, lots of parking available, great location next to Costco, my go to places after Costco shopping and gas pumping, food quality and great interior, recommend to ALL.

Idk why this place is below a 4. I had the best experience here. Service was top notch, food tasted pretty damn good, atmosphere was welcoming. Great place to go to for Pho and delicious Vietnamese dishes. We had the grilled salmon spring rolls, they were to die for! I was surprised cause this is the first Pho restaurant thats westernized that Ive tried in San Diego so I expected the pho broth to be not great but I was wrong. Broth was spot on and absolutely perfect. They have a patio so you can bring your dogs so well definitely be coming back. 💯

Great food, lots of potential. Needs to get their service in order. They appeared to be short-handed, and current staff seems unexperienced. Took too long to get an order of phố (that should be the first thing out!).The family meal is a great deal though, and tasty enough Id try to come back and see if their service has improved.

This place has been upgraded very nicely. I was promptly seated and noticed that they totally transformed it from the Mexican restaurant before. The food was very good, I had the roasted hen and the egg rolls. The couscous was well cooked and the hen was crispy on the outside and still moist in the middle. Plenty of dipping sauces, but you didnt need them. They were keeping busy even at mid day during the week.

We ordered from Uber eats with two different food orders and received the same food. We also ordered an XL but it came in from the same box size…wouldn’t recommend from Uber eats..pretty disappointing paying extra in XL for the same amount given as a regular Pho and same food orders.

Recently decided to give them another try since we live in the area. Our usual now is Pho Kitchen but I had to do a Costco run so came here out of convenience. I shouldve learned my lesson from last time... 35 minute to go order wait for a rice plate and 3 egg rolls... I couldve driven to Pho Kitchen and gotten food faster than staying here and waiting! Food was good. Fish sauce was basically water.Sorry PCD, this is the 3rd time weve experienced a long wait for to go orders in the past year... Will probably not come back. Just patronize Pho Kitchen instead. Always super quick and good food.

First time here! Overall it was a good experience, and definitely I want to come back, because today I was starving and is not the best situation to do an objective review. The food was definitely good, and at first the service seemed pretty good, since we got our food faster than I was expecting, but once the waitress served she disappeared and when she was back she had kind of an attitude. So, thats my reason for not giving a 5. I know that Ill visit again and hopefully the service is regularly goo. I had a vermicelli salad whit crispy egg rolls, sausage and shrimp that it was good, nothing out of the world. We also tried the fried coconut rice, that I never found the coconut flavour. We also tried spring rolls with pork and shrimp. As I mentioned, its a good place but honestly I didnt taste nothing special or out of the regular. I recommend this place.

Food & Service is Horrible, they are understaffed & overwhelmed, restaurant had little customers and we had to wait an hour just to get seated. Once we ordered, we received our food 45min later, the bone marrow in my pho was practically empty & we never received the rest of our order. The party sitting next to us sent their pho back because it had a hair in it the waiters response was Im sorry this is the 4th time today. Also noticed the bartender dropping & breaking the glass cups and making lemonade with their tap water and squeezing a lemon in it must of tasted horrible. This franchise should be re-evaluated or shut down.

The food here is phenomenal. I thought the price was high but after seeing how much food was given, I understood. The reason why gave this place 4 stars is because the service was a bit off. We sat down and waited 15 mins before anyone came to take our order. And it wasn’t even busy. Usually after sitting down there should be a round of eater within the 2-4 mins. We ordered a drink that was never brought out and was much later told they didn’t have any after we had to ask on the status of the order. I would come back for the food but hope they step their service game up.

First time experience tonight, the service was hospitable, informative they just got through a rush and were recovering from that. I completely understand that and they were great. One gentleman helped us to sit at the bar top and he was very friendly and very pleasant, we later had a younger lady help us out and she was very nice and pleasant.Moving on, the food was very underwhelming. Egg rolls were the best part, and the hot part of the meal we had. My roasted hen broken rice dish was quite below average. It was not executed well in the sense the rice was cold to the touch when it came out and turned over the hen that was cooked and was black burnt. My girlfriends ubon pho dish was bland, and subpar.The food was a 2/5 and she offered to comp my food and I still paid for my dish. Their service was a 4/5, their saving grace. Their kitchen needs help and wont be returning based purely on their food.

Not sure why everyone is leaving bad reviews. My partner and I almost didnt eat here because of them. Glad we checked it out though. We did show up an hour before closing, so we didnt deal with the crowd or wait. We ordered pho, vermicelli salad, pork buns and grilled chicken spring rolls. The food was delicious. Can be pricey for people who usually spend $10 for a bowl. Well be returning soon.

We really enjoyed the food. However, there’s something weird about this place. No organization at all. We had to wait for service even though the place was not busy at all,. When we got our food there was no silverware and had to wait a while for it. Service really was bad, I guess the only one doing a good job is the chef. There is a lady standing by the door that has no idea what her job is. There is one guy cleaning the tables that if you ask him for something…he doesn’t respond. WEIRD PLACE !!!!

CAUTION: Save your experience for in person. Hate leaving bad reviews, so Ill say the food tasted pretty good.****Tl;dr**** - online order did NOT go to kitchen (just the front), I couldnt be refunded, and didnt have bread on a banh mi (too angry to take a photo). No utensils for ribeye with egg...--------------------------------------I had a really poor experience with pickup through Google (Order Clover). Ordered 4 banh mi sandwiches & 3 spring rolls. Given 30 min preparation time. When I arrived after the estimated time, they only had my receipt. Host went back to kitchen and no one knew of my order. Another staff member came to tell me kitchen could put it in for 25-30min wait bc my order is really big. With people coming to visit from out of town, I asked for a refund instead.*****Another staff member came out and said REFUND IS NOT POSSIBLE. Id have to go through the original app to refund (Google? She wasnt sure either) OR DISPUTE MY BANK.Not being able to get any money back, I opted for the rush order (20 min). In the end -- the food was not assembled, no utensils or napkins. One of 4 banh mi sandwiches DID NOT HAVE BREAD. Had to ask separately for sauces.No ability to refund - so we were stuck dropping $82 on unassembled ingredients.Super disappointed. I advise calling the restaurant directly in if you plan to make a to go order. Really horrific customer service. They did give us 4 lemonades for free though.

The waitress was kind of rude. My friend invited us to this place because he liked it a lot and he asked her some questions because the menu was different and the lady answered them with very annoyed/sarcastic tone/attitude. She also pulled the menu from our hands. The pho was also kind of expensive compared to other places and not really worth the price.First and last visit.

Decent pho place. They sat us outside next to the fire pit, which was pretty miserable. We ordered margaritas, which were horrid. Absolutely awful. Thankfully they understood and took them off the bill. We got a bunch of different things to try. The food 100% made up for the seating and drinks. Pho was great, I got chicken. It was a bit pricey for the quality. Id suggest finding somewhere else, if you don’t want to spend too much.

March 2021. SD is in red tier so indoor dining was allowed. We tried it and probably would do take out next time. Service was very slow. They are prioritizing the take out orders rather than the dine in customers.Food was pricey. Don’t ever get the stir fried egg noodle dish. Love this place. It has yummy Pho and many other Vietnamese dishes. The Vietnamese bread stick is so delicious to dip in the Pho. The staff is always friendly. They have little robots that help deliver the Pho to your table! So cool!

I have read some good reviews about this place so I tried it for myself but I was not impressed. Wait time to get our orders taken took so long but food came out quick. They were polite and apologetic but theres great opportunity in customer service. We were not asked if we want any drinks or desserts. The food tasted and looked good but nothing to rave about.

Food are good and potion are a lot. I order grill beef spring rolls and it was delicious. I also order combination Pho and the meat were a lot. Pho was very good but I believe there too much MSG added into the Pho Broth, because I was very thirsty later on.

The PHO broth is not as good as the one on University Ave. It is very weak in flavor, and the brisket was VERY hard and chewy like gristle:( Not sure why, and this was my second time going. Nicer location, but the food is tastless!

OMG the BEEF RIB Pho was the most delicious I’ve had. The broth was full of beef flavor, the veggies were fresh and crisp. The BONE was enormous, full of that great beef flavor and had that long slow cooked soft bite. The restaurant and bar were clean and the staff was very busy but still took the time to help and all with a big smile.

Ive never had clearer pho in my life. And this was after adding hoisin and every chili sauce. The service was terrible. The strange lanky waiter just stared at us after we had finished ordering, took an awkward amount of time to leave. Then our food was ready and it just sat there for minutes on this little robot. By the time someone noticed my rare steak was cooked. Also, you have to ask for any sauce besides hoisin and they are scrimpy. Not only did it take an extremely long time to get to the table but they tried to give me only a tablespoon of chili oil. Overall, this place reeks of gentrification and the service compliments that by ensuring you dont get the same friendly feeling you would at a more traditional Vietnamese establishment. Discovered this place this week. First meal was great, liked everything. Decided to come back to try other things on the menu, since it looked pretty good to me. Ordered spring rolls, and fried egg noodles with beef. Since Vietnamese cuisine heavily utilizes cilantro, it was used in my dish as well. 3 bites in and noticed the some of the leaves had tons of sand on them. Lost my appetite at the same time, so I ended up eating 4 slices of carrots at a price of $14. See pictures attached. The waiter was apologetic, but no adjustments/corrections were made. Will not return.

TLDR - great food, horrendous service at bestWe went on for a late lunch around 2pm, there were about 8 tables and 4 wait staff. First off, we waited about 15 mins to be seated while 2 wait staff just stood there - which was fine not a huge issue.Once we got our appetizer and tea, we had to wave down someone to get tea cups and plates. Which when we did this, the waitress was extremely rude, rolled her eyes and tossed the items at the table and walked away without even seeing if anything else was needed. 1 person in our party had dietary restrictions, and we confirmed if they could be accommodated prior to ordering, and they assured us that they could. But when the food came out, they had ignored those restrictions, and we asked them to fix it, and they just removed the items without remaking the dish. So that person in our party just didn’t eat the food because the risk of an allergic reaction wasn’t worth it.All of this said, the food that we did eat was great!! The owner should be embarrassed at the lack of training his employees have. This place is filthy. They leave the towel that they wipe the table with on the floor. There is zero organization here. Visiting San Diego and this was the closest PHO place to the hotel. The food is good and the inside of the restaurant makes you feel nice and cozy. Very friendly staff however the First Lady that came to take our order it was hard to understand her and communicate but that’s cool because at least she’s trying! And I’m sure she’ll get the hang of it soon. Took one star off because I told them specifically that I didn’t want tripe and tendon and I still got tripe and tendon.... all good tho just took them out. Overall I’d recommend this place for some good PHO!

I love love love the Pho Ca Dao in Mira Mesa... sadly this location is one of the worst restaurants Ive been to in my life. ATTENTION MANAGEMENT and OWNERS, please either retrain or replace the staff that worked on the afternoon of Saturday November 26 especially the long hair gentleman working the front door and tables.Firstly, the restaurant was almost empty and it took them 5 minutes to seat is and nearly another 20 minutes to bring us menus and another 10 mins from there to bring water. The food trays, table, chairs and the floors were dirty and oily. There was maybe 4 tables seated including ours and I saw at least 5 employees so it wasnt busy and no excuse for the uncleanliness and poor service.Secondly, the food was the worst pho Ive ever had a Pho CA Dao location. The trays the food were served on were nasty and oily. The robot malfunctioned and didnt delivery properly. My partner got one the bahn mi and the mustard was bad and got stomach pains later that evening through the next day.Lastly, we finished our meal and had to wait another 20 minutes after asking for our bill. The waiter proceeded to clean some stations, answer phone calls, talk to his buddy and watch the football game before I got up and asked for my bill a third time. When I addressed my concerns the young waiter was completely dismissive, rude, and extraordinarily unprofessional.I would highly avoid going to this location until they make some serious changes to match the quality of service and food as the other locations, it did not live up the Pho Ca Dao legacy. The location in Mira Mesa has always impressed my family and myself for over 10 years.

Came here with a friend a couple days ago and it was so tasty! The regular size pho is a great portion and left me full but not uncomfortably full. We both got the classic pho and it was delicious. They have little robots to help the servers bring your food and they are so cute! When we went it wasnt too busy so we got our appetizer and entree pretty quick. The egg rolls were very good, not overly crispy like other places tend to be. Price wasnt bad at all, I dont know what people are complaining about on that. Will definitely be back!

Despite the bad timing (pandemic started around that same time of opening) they serve take out with the same PCD formula. We ordered vermicelli with spring rolls & grilled tofu, and tofu banh mi. PCD makes the best grilled tofu. The sauce we put on vermicelli is tasty and hard to replicate (oh we tried). Banh mi roll is fresh & crunchy, and very filling. They put the condiments in a separate bag so the roll stayed nice and crunchy. We will be back whenever we crave for more. Plenty of parking, and near trolley station.

Looking at the menu, I could tell this was more of a Vietnamese fusion restaurant more than an authentic one. Nevertheless, I was craving Bun Bo Hue, so I gave it a shot. After waiting 20 minutes and drinking a few glasses of cucumber mint water, my food arrived.The broth was really tasty and not too overpowering, and the dish had all kinds of meat: Pork hock, tendon, and beef shank. However, the noodles were broken into short strands and werent chewy. Otherwise, it was a tasty bowl of Bun Bo Hue.If Im in the area, Ill give this place another shot and try the standard Beef Pho.

I went out on a date with my wife to this place on Friday, 17 Dec 22. Quickly greeted by Chris (bartender/server) to our table. I really love this place for the food and quality. But Chris made the whole night amazing. Very nice, checked up on us frequently and had very good suggestions he recommended towards our course. I will definitely be coming back here for sure.

The host was horrible. He threw our menus on the table & stormed away because I wanted to sit at a booth instead of a tiny table. He said he wanted to reserve the both for the lunch rush but the restaurant was pretty much empty the whole time. It was our first time going there. There was a hair in the spring roll. I used to love this place and really supported them through pandemic with takeout orders. But here’s the thing - I feel like this place has gotten lazy. It’s ok if you eat in but take out is another story. 2x in a row now, recently, they didn’t get my order right.I didn’t check my order and I went home missing one order. Luckily, I live very close so I went back and they told me they ran out of the bahn mi sandwich but didn’t bother letting me know, but still charged me anyway. They apologized as they were “backed” up but there were a few of them standing around not doing much by the bar area. I ended up getting a pho instead - though they didn’t have the one I originally wanted - because again, they were out of ingredients.As of tonight, we tried our luck again. They were 20 mins behind as they were backed up (but they were not busy from the looks of it), and when they gave us our order we knew better to check. They said they just put it together but we insisted we check. Well, not to our surprise, they doubled one order and forgot another again. So we got that corrected.Just feels like there’s been such a lack of attention here. They are slow. The taste is fine though the oxtail I get with my pho has also gotten smaller in size overtime and was mostly bones from this most recent order. Orders haven’t been prepared consistently either.I’ve also tried calling this place a ton but I’ve been told by staff they don’t answer their phones anymore. So yeah, don’t do takeouts here. Not worth the stress and hassle. I want to keep supporting them but I’m not as inclined to do it with recent my experience :(

This was not the first Pho Ca Dao that Ive dined at. But compared to the others, it was my least favorite. Food compared to other locations was not as good. I had the classic pho with a beef rib on the side. Besides the broth/soup not being as good, the beef rib was also not as tender or fall off the bone as its supposed to be. The low rating comes from the service. They didnt have many guests when we arrived, but it took a while for them to get our order. Then we didnt receive our drinks that we first ordered untill half way through the meal and I had to go let a waiter know. Also took a while to get the check toi. This was a remarkable experience in so many ways. The food was middle of the road - not great, but not inedible either.The staff was putting out a vibe like Gordon Ramsey was in the kitchen screaming at the chef and the owner of the restaurant. I felt that at any minute he’d come bursting out of the back room with a camera crew to creatively curse out anyone in the vicinity.I got the chicken pho - it was fine. The very few basil leaves and jalapeños they brought to accompany it were wilted. Coworker got the beef pho and said it was edible.Anyway - they could make just a few tweaks and make it a five star place. A deep cleaning, ditch the weird robot tray caddies, get a staff with just a bit better table manner, and perk up the dishes. Easier said than done, I’m sure.

This restaurant justifies a higher price because of a modernized/trendy restaurant and serving strategy which actually takes away from the meal. The pho comes without broth and has condiments pre-added unlike traditional Vietnamese restaurants which allow you to choose your own proportions. The server then brought out a jug with broth in it and poured it into the bowl and asked me when to stop. She then proceeded to spill boilng broth on my thigh. I grew up going to the original in city heights and stopping by tonight for the $40 family meal for 2 was a *Great decision. I had an ipa while my date had a glass of sangria by the fire pit (which actually kept us warm and toasty, which was a huge plus). Lots of fat in the standard Pho. The people I ate with said their food was very dry/overcooked. We also had to flag down a waiter after being patient for 10-15minutes just to get started. The second star is given because the restaurant was at least very clean, tables wiped and trash/used dishes were taken away promptly.

I’d advise against ordering pickup from this place if you value your time. Placed an order online and was told the order would be ready in 30 min. Arrived and had to wait another 30 min for my food. Made me late to a work meeting.

Just order steak pho, it was delivered and all I got was broth, noodles and rare steak. None of the veggies, sauces or lime. I am extremely disappointed. I’ve tried calling several time and the phone just rings and rings. Will not be ordering from here again.

So I really like the pho here for the most part. I am not a fan of the service at all. They almost never answer the phone, and when you come in to get an order they will pretty much ignore you until you go and track someone down and force them to acknowledge your existence! I hope the owner sees this and works on the staffing/customer service issue!

I had the crab pho special and it was delicious...I had a drink special and also was outstanding!! Service was very good and staff super friendly even with all the safe distancing and sanitation measurements they have taken. The place looks great from what it use to be, a great work was done in remodeling the space, overall it was a great experience.

Change your hours on Google. Says youre open till 10pm on Saturday night when clearly youre not. Day 1 of living in SD and I already blacklisted this place. Judging by some of the reviews (pricey, incorrect orders, rude staff and long wait times) my wife and I had a lucky escape.

Nice presentation. Nice broth. Once the pho was served, NO ONE came to check on us. An order for an additional serving of noodles were made after several servers passed us trying to flag them down. 25 min later, no noodles. Another 15 min trying to get a to go container.

The traditional thin rare beef Pho soup and the Regional spicy soup were both good, with the spicy soup beating out the traditional rare thin sliced by a touch of flavor. Both included an excellent variety of fresh topping to add any personal flavoring.We struggled with the fresh spring rolls. GET the Surf and Turf fresh spring roll, actually get two of these rolls, they were the highlight of our meal. The classic fresh spring roll was bland and lacked flavor, so needless to say, we finished off the provided peanut sauce to off set the filler taste.

Before COVID-19, I’ve passed this place many times, patiently waiting for them to open. When they opened early March, they always seemed to be packed, so I vowed to return when less crowded. Then the business restrictions closed their dining area, so here I am to try their take out.I was studying their menus, displayed outside the entrance, when an enthusiastic young man greets me. He introduces himself as Tri and helps me with my order. The dining room is now open, but I ordered take out. Tri helps me decide to order their spring rolls (classic and surf & turf), their classic pho and waterfall crispy chicken served over garlic rice w/ veggies.Their takeout containers are sturdy, but be warned, the pho broth is HOT even in its container. I’m told this broth is simmered for 14-hours and it is very tasty. Some places use too much noodles in their spring rolls but they use just the right proportion of ingredients. The herbs and veggies, generally served with pho, are beautiful and super fresh. The waterfall chicken is rough cut (Asian style) and the skin is crispy as advertised. To sum it up, everything was fresh and delicious. I definitely look forward to trying the other items on their menu

I love the pho ca dao in Rancho Bernardo, but this one doesn’t live up to the brand’s reputation. Everything was over cooked, tables dirty, milk tea bitter, and poor atmosphere. Huge opportunities for growth, the location and interior are great.

The food here is pretty good. The pho is some of the better pho Ive had in san diego. Honestly, id give this place five stars based on the food but the service isnt even remotely good. You have to work to get anything you need from the staff. Theyre friendly, just extremely inattentive.
