Very skimpy Pho and high prices. Another place in town does SO MUCH BETTER. This is what their Pho looks like at the competition for less money you wont get a bowl like this at Pho King....

Phi broth was bland and lacking flavor. It is full of salt and MSG but it lacks beef flavor and traditional seasonings. There was also a quarter as much meat as other places. They also did not offer basil leaf in the vegetable tray! This place was much better five years ago. The owners have changed since then and the quality has not been satisfactory. I will not be back.If I were to compare this place to an authentic pho restaurant, it would be akin to boiling a steak and serving it as is compared to a classic salt and pepper rub and searing it over a grill. Its still beef but its nowhere near as good as it should be. Save your money and go somewhere else.

For two years, I always had the pleasure of being served with the greatest guest service and foods. I always ordered the Bun Bo Hue with drinks on the side, usually with red bean che or a fruity drink. The taste and quality always kept me satisfied and my belly happy and full! I recommend this restaurant for their vegan-friendly options and extensive meals to choose from.

The owner is very nice but my experience and the sandwich were mediocre. Ordered a basic Bahn Mi. Prices in the menu are out of date (lower than what they actually charge). Got my sandwich and there was just meat and a cucumber; no cilantro, carrots, or jalapenos. I went back in and asked the owner. He was very nice and they went back and threw a mediocre amount of veggies in it. Not horrible but Im not going back.

At lunchtime, I ordered the beef pho with steak, brisket, flanks ($13 for small) and dined inside the restaurant. Most seating is indoors but there are also tables outside. My noodles were served quickly within 10 minutes of ordering by friendly staff. The pho had a delightful soup and the amount of meat was generous for the price and portion. The flank was a bit chewy for my tastes, I’d stick with just the brisket or steak next time. I was slightly taken aback by the noodles, as they unfortunately clumped together. Maybe this is just the style of pho in the area, as the noodles were of similar quality to other Vietnamese restaurants nearby. Overall, this is definitely a great local place I will be returning to and trying out more dishes!EDIT: I came back to try the bahn mi ($6.50) and it was delicious, nicely toasted with fresh jalapeños and all the right fixings.

Love the food! Great price, which is nice because it’s right next to campus. Lots of options for meat dishes and for vegetarian/vegans. Fairly spacious on the inside and the patio looks cool.

I really enjoyed this! It had a sweet flavor to it and a good ratio of noodles, meat, and broth. I got a small bowl and its the perfect portion for one person. If you have a bigger appetite id recommend getting the L or XL, but this was perfect. The small bowl is $12.00. I would come back!

Ive eaten here many times and thought that everything was decent for the price and location. Most of the people I know arent a fan but usually this place hits the spot. I ordered 2 bánh mì recently—the combination and the grilled chicken—and was really disappointed. The baguettes were tough and chewy but most importantly the filling was essentially nonexistent; there was 2 thin slices of meat for the combo and only about 6 small pieces of chicken. Ive ordered the bánh mì several times before and maybe they were just particularly stingy that day, but I cant say that I was happy with what I ended up getting.

I love pho, vermicelli plates, fresh spring rolls. They have gluten free and vegetarian options. Something for everyone! You can currently order take out or delivery. There have been a couple of times when the broth wasnt great but the amount of times it is delicious I keep going back and will continue.

The Pho is always on point. I love the house pho with everything in it! Yum! Parking is a bit of a challenge, but the ticket is worth it, and you will treasure that memory forever, at least I do! Come with someone you want to cozy up to and share a bowl of the best pho in Davis.

I’m not even sure they got the order right since all of our dishes had something wrong with them. The vermicelli tasted like gas and the vegan protein had none of the flavors or ingredients listed on the menu. The Kung Pao tofu wasn’t even the least bit spicy with no flavor of Kung Pao. The lemongrass chicken was fine but I had ordered beef and the texture of all the lemongrass bits was unpleasant- very gritty. I used to come here all the time about two years ago but something changed and I won’t be eating here again anytime soon.

Cozy little Phở place themat also serves fine alcohol and in a convenient locale off the bike trail to one of UCs 2nd tier Law programs in Davis. Just dont like the fact that they have fans running all over when they should have the a.c. its been a hot hot summer.

This place is terrible!! We ordered pho and pork spring rolls through door dash. The pork in the spring rolls was completely raw!!I called them to ask for a refund on the spring rolls and the kid on the phone said I would need to bring them in. We brought them in and still have yet to see a refund. Also, I left my phone number and told him to have his manager call me. No word from the manager yet.I suggest pho tasty if youre looking for great quality. Pho king 4 is nasty. Im surprised they havent been cited for making people sick. Honestly, I dont know how the cook wrapped the rolls in rice paper, and then plastic wrap to send them out and didnt notice how raw they were. So gross.

Well I have been coming to this place for many years now..I am now changing my review... I ordered the Vermicelli they no longer do the Beef Onion Roll. I ordered the Pork, Big Mistake. The Pork was Very Fatty and didnt have a good flavor. There were hardly any Lettuce, Sprouts or Vegis. I ordered a bahn mi sandwich which I have done multiple times before and today it came very in fresh. Everything tasted dry and the chucked tasted old. Then the owner of the place came to me and started giving me a lecture on the importance of not wasting food. When I said the sandwich wasnt good cuz it didnt taste fresh he said I sho up try ordering something else and kept picking on me. I still payed in full even though I barely touched my food but the service from the owner was terrible as he kept picking on me. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

It could be that my 12:40PM order was not delivered until 2:15PM (a full 30 minutes beyond the promised delivery time window), but the chicken was hard and lacked flavor. Regardless of temperature, the flank in my pho was more like mush, and the broth lacked the robustness that I expect from a good pho. It is not likely that I will return or recommend.

Back after 3 yrs and I am saddened to say the quality of Pho has gone down a lot. My #1 pho want down to a 2 stars.(from 3 yrs ago)Although on the smaller side, the food here is great. I felt the soup (XL size) did not have enough noodles and especially not enough meat.Having said that the prices are decent and service is great, even if a bit rushed (they start clearing and cleaning the table as soon as you are done, making one feel rushed).This will probably be my favorite Pho place for the time being.

I finally got the chance to come into this restaurant about a month and a half ago and I was so excited to have some good pho but there were so many choices! I asked the waitress which she thought was good and it seemed like she just wanted me to finish ordering so she didnt have to be at my table anymore. My boyfriend was actually the one who pointed out some good options and when I ordered, I was not disappointed. I got the shrimp wraps as a side and they were so refreshing.

I dont often write reviews but wow, this may be the worst Vietnamese food Ive ever had. The fried tofu was cold, the pork was tough and dry, and the vegetables were cut so large that you couldnt mix them with the rest of the dish (these are the ones that are usually julienned). How are there 4 of these? Why are there 4 of these? Really makes me question my faith in humanity. Hope this is helpful to someone!

Quality service all around. The menu is wonderfully expansive and varied, and the food is an absolute delight. I recommend their banh mi, spring rolls, and pho, of course. The calamari could be sliced thicker, but I also highly recommend their fried rice and chicken selections! A great choice for light lunches, especially considering their location!

Highly recommend the vermicelli bowls. We had numbers 23 and 25. The pork is seasoned and cooked exactly right. The spring rolls are also great. Our server Tony was highly efficient and pleasant and made sure everything was to our satisfaction.

I made the mistake of ordering the honey walnut shrimp, Shrimps were over cooked and rubbery, the sauce was bad all I could taste was Mayo, way to much Mayo. The pad Thai was good but not a lot of food for what it costs and the noodles ended up in one big clump together, they just need some oil after cooking them so that doesn’t happen which is obviously not very hard to do. Definitely not going back.

Me and the family have given this place three tries. Each time is a worse experience. The orders are never consistent. Every time weve gone the service gets worse as well as the food, all this has been over the last three weeks. They bring you the wrong order and then argue with you about it. Poor customer service, had to ask three different time for our drinks and silverware. Horrible attitudes from the women in the back. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

I have been a long time customer of this restaurant. The service has always been great until the last few months. Until, I had an order delivered incorrectly and I received someone elses food. I called the restaurant and was told to keep the food and my food would be remade and delivered. Then, as I started to eat the food, the driver showed up with my food in hand and demanded the other food back. I told him that I had started eating it and showed him. He walked into my house, rearranged the food with his bare hands to make it look like a bite had not been taken and took the food. I informed the restaurant of this inappropriate behavior and they didnt seem to care. The food also gave me food poisoning that night.I decided to give them a second chance and ordered again. The delivery was over 2 hours late. I called a total of 3 times in that period and was assured that the food was on its way with the driver. After two hours of waiting for food, I found out that it was never made. The restaurant cancelled my order. And when I requested they fulfill the order free of charge as a sign of good faith for a long time customer - they refused.This restaurant used to have great food and delivery. But recently, it has gone on a steep decline in their quality of food, delivery and customer service.

I used to really like this place pre pandemic and I would give it 4 stars otherwise. However, after going there and seeing none of the employees using masks properly and the chef in the back not even wearing one, I had to immediately walk out. I love pho, but not enough to risk it when proper health guidelines are not followed. Furthermore, all the utensils are stored together at the table and are not sanitized after a customer is done with a table. Do NOT eat here until the pandemic is over.

Had a to go order for a vegan pho and when I got home they literally only gave me two small pieces of tofu in the soup. The flavor was pretty bland and only adding hoisin sauce and lime made it tolerable. Not worth it for +$10. Will not get again sadly :/

Visited in middle of July, new to Davis and hoping to get a decent Asian meal for a late lunch.We came here because it was rated 4 stars but we realized afterwards that the star standards must be lower at Davis than the Bay Area for Asian food.It was a very hot day, in the high 90s°F and the place had no AC, just few floor coolers, so the place was warm at best and hot to be real. Flies were frequent visitors to our table.Service was slow and inattentive. We had to wave down wait staff whenever we needed something, and had to ask for the check at the end.We ordered basic, typical Vietnamese menu items, nothing fancy, and were gravely disappointed in the quality and flavors of the food. Bahn Mi sandwich was served on a dried out bun and was poorly constructed with the contents barely filling the bun. The pho broth had a weird and sour taste. The beef noodle saute had no flavor. The only saving grace was the mixed BBQ plate, the meats were decently grilled and flavored but nothing else on the platter was remarkable.The milk tea with boba was a huge disappointment, if not scary. First, the drink definitely had an off flavor and odor, like spoiling dairy, yikes! Second, the boba pearls were so old and had the texture of hard gummy balls. Overall the drinks were unpalatable and inedible.This experience was so bad I dont know if Id chance another visit in case the cook was on vacation when we visited?

The quality of the food decreases gradually so I talked to the person who seems to be in charge-a man wears a plaid shirt with glasses and seems to be the owners son.My best friends bowl smelled like dish SOAP. My Beef Stew Noodle has only excessive beefs FATTY tissue and no beef meat for 4 times recently. Was I the lucky guy or they did something interesting. Anyway, its GROSS.The person told me thats what the meal is like. WHAT!!! He said it has been like this since I works here. His response is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Can you believe his response? Service was terrible. My Thai tea Boba that I ordered was very sour. The Boba itself was kind of hard. We got to order of egg rolls sent our table which we never ordered. Our server forgot to give us water. Our server mixed up my order with my friends. And even when the beef curry dish came out. It wasnt satisfactory. Most definitely not eating here again.

I came to Pho King 4 this morning for my lunch. I just figured out that I only ordered No.1 Large which is $10 and No.1 Extra Large is $11, but they charged me around $27.41 at the end. I went here with a party of 6 and ordered many things including the Bun Bo Hue, Chicken Pho, 4 Spring Rolls, Mongolian Beef, 2 strawberry banana shakes and an avocado shake. Having gone to many other Pho places in Sacramento and San Jose, this place is a dud.I personally had the Bun Bo Hue and they never brought my cabbage and other veggies to go with it. Second, the soup itself was mostly broth, some noodles, with several very little pieces of beef. No good stuff at all.The other item I personally had was the avocado shake and they must not use real avocado like other places, because it tastes fake.Im definitely not coming back.

The shrimps were too salty, like they were doused with a bag of salt. The bbq pork was good though. Portion is modest, and it didnt fill me up. The food taste ok, its not as good as the Pho places in Sacramento. We wanted to eat something comforting while finishing up moving last night. We ordered Bun and Pho with stake (meaning you have to cook the raw meat in the piping hot soup). Also last part of cooking pho noodle actually happens in the bowl with that piping hot soup. They gave us luke warm soup. What do you do with raw meat and half uncooked noodle in the luke warm soup? Nothing you can do. Also bun noodle supposed to be warm, not out of refrigerator cold. It was out of refrigerator cold.. Absolutely worst vietnamese food I ever had.

I have been here a few times and have been really happy, but it seems like they have new workers that don’t understand the menu. The first problem was that the worker who took our order put our order down as “To-Go” and didn’t ask us if we were dining in or not. So we get our food and we tell them “sorry, but we never claimed it was to go and she didn’t ask us either” Then we got a new order, but the order was completely wrong and the broth was lukewarm with raw meat. Lukewarm water does not cook raw meat. So, I go to the front and ask them to re-make it and even show them on the menu what our order is and what it says that’s in there. Our order comes out, the broth is hot, meat is cooked, BUT THE ORDER IS STILL WRONG. The fact that I had to read, clarify, and try to get the worker to understand what was in it just shows that the people making it do not even know what is on there menu. I ended up just giving up on them and picked out everything that wasn’t asked for or wasn’t supposed to be there. Unfortunately a lot of food was wasted at the end of the day.

Wow...the WORST pho Ive ever been to. The restaurant is disgusting so dirty. The service was horrible. The waitress was very rude and looked like she just rolled out of bed. The soup is awful. Its not the worst Vietnamese food Ive had but it certainly is far from the best. I order a beef stew with rice noodles and an egg roll vermicelli. The beef stew wasnt bad, flavor was good but the meat was extra gristled and fatty. Sure, beef stew meat is supposed to be like that but this was somewhat excessive. Otherwise, the stew wasnt bad. The vermicelli, however, was probably the worst that Ive ever seen. There was nothing gross or unsanitary, but the portion was laughable and the egg rolls tasted like something you would find in the grocery store freezer. Unfortunately, this is the only option for Vietnamese in Davis.

Pho King is my lunch spot in Davis. Their Bahn Mi is on point, cheap, and always fast. The service is quick, but a bit inattentive at times. No matter, for the prices its a great place to grab a bit. I also like the noodle salad bowls and the Pho, and they are pretty good (for the area).

Hands down worst service in Davis.I TOLERATED their terrible service because I like pho. However, I can honestly say that I have never had a good experience here, and yesterday was the last straw. After waiting 40 minutes (while others were getting their food in 5-10 minutes) we finally complained, only to find our order never made it to the kitchen.The worst part is that nobody apologized to us.This is not a isolated incident, their service is consistently terrible.The pho is like a 4/10 too. Mostly broth and noodles, with very little vegitables and meat. More like a fancy top ramen than real pho.

I use to come here alot for hang over cures but now I straight up refuse. Not only is the food mediocre at best, this place is pretty unsanitary. One time one of the workers poured a cup of water back into a pitcher and proceeded to go around filling other tables water cups. Worst pho restaurant Ive ever been to. We asked if they had bok choy and they gave us a look as if they had no idea what bok choy was (my first clue). The broth is bland definitely doesnt taste authentic, and they skimp you on the veggie sides for the pho, asked for a side of broccoli and veggies and brought us one broccoli in some water. Was told to go here by a friend but when theyve only had pho once and I go to pho 2 or 3 times a week I should have known what to expect, wont be coming back.

Perfect (huge) bowls of soup for rainy days. Its located just East of the UC Davis campus, which makes it convenient to get to in between classes. It can get busy, but in between rush hours the place empties and becomes much more relaxing. There are lots of window seats, so you can kick back with some good food and watch the world go by.
