Love their shrimp pad thai, summer rolls and pho! The shrimps are sooo juicy and cooked to perfection 🤤 Service is excellent! Everyone is very friendly. Will definitely visit the place again 😍 Highly recommended!

Enjoyed the Pho soup. Seems family run and kinda chaotic. Also communication was challenging too as I felt like they didnt understand anything I said and had to get other staff that struggled too. Just asked for more water, silverware and a napkin as there wasnt any on the table and my bill. Had to ask twice as they seemed preoccupied. Customer service is their weakness. Also the man who works there got the table order behind me wrong after 2 attempts and during the third the customer asked him if you would like to write it down. He said no. Their to go/pick ups were complicated for those that came in to pick up. They seemed agitated yet patient.

We shared a large bowl of the Pho with raw beef and tendon. And we ordered fresh spring roll (#3) and appetizer assortment (#15). The spring roll was fresh and the appetizer assortment didn’t disappoint. The Pho had good flavor. The rice noodles and beef/tendon complement the broth 😋😋. Will definitely comeback for their other menu options in the future

This is an excellent choice for Pho in Costa Mesa/Newport. I went with a few friends, and even though it was later in the evening, we still received excellent service from both Peter and Joe. The food tasted great and was a nice portion size.

This was my first time visiting Pho Lantern and I ordered my food to go. The customer service was immaculate! The staff were very friendly and patient as I placed my order.As for the food, I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and they were tasty with fresh ingredients. Will definitely be returning. Not only was I charged $40 for items that cost about $15 elsewhere, it was the most disgusting meal I’ve had in a long time. They also gave me old rice mixed in with new rice. It was brown and Rick solid. I don’t even leave reviews but this experience disgusted me. I’m heated

This place is usually good when I come in, but we spent $77 on a delivery and the meat was literally RAW and FROZEN SOLID. Like ice cube frozen. I called in and a staff member told me to just stick it in the microwave and it would be fine…. Unbelievable. No apology or anything. The rest of the order was cold and a total mess, and they didn’t include any spices or sauces. I’m actually in shock at how bad this order was. Who would eat this?

A true Pho restaurant. I placed a pick up order for two regular chicken pho. I live about 5 mins away. Its on a busy corner off Newport Blvd and 17th street. It was ready when I arrived and it was hot and delicious when I got home. They sell beer and have out door seating. I have brought my dog there before too. Highly recommend if you love pho.

The parking is horrible. Service was a little slow but acceptable. The egg-rolls were pretty bad. They werent rolled right... Not tight enough and so the flavor was heavy on the oil since they absorbed too much from the fryer. However... The#37 Pho is excellent!!! Great beef base broth.

Oh this place is amazing, great portions, lots and lots of meat, just everything was fantastic, the waitress was like one of the most friendly and attentive waitresses Ive ever had. Hopefully you get her haha. Got the #43 bowl and I dont really see a reason to ever get anything else, its that good :DThe calamari was really good, a little on the skimpy side of portions for it but nothing to upset about.

We went to the restaurant to order some soup to go. We ordered filet mignon soup and when we got it back to our hotel we come to find out that the meat is completely raw. Not stated at all. When called up inquiring about it they told me thats the way it supposed to come, but we could stick it in the microwave that we dont have due to staying at a nearby hotel. They said if we put in on the soup it would cook on its own 🙄. Not friendly staff except one person sitting down looks like on break . Last time I checked it was against the law to serve raw food.

So so rude!!! I went there so many time. Spend money for my employee $100-$200 up many time for good. I went there and get seated at boot. Then order food and I went to bathroom. When I got back. Waitress move my table to someone with out telling me. And says they couple want it.Really !!!! Fist come first serve MR ….U don’t know how to tell them this table get people sit on it. Our family really wanted to like this place. Google review was above 4 stars. We called and they were kind enough to hold a table that seats six. When we arrived at the restaurant, the food coming out of the kitchen looked pretty good as they were on the way to the customers. Unfortunately, the good ended there.The restaurant immediately became chaotic. Service took a while to grab our order. Other customers had to wave to the servers for us to get their attention for service.Now for the bad. The Pho Dac Biet and the kids meal pho soup (3 orders - 2 chicken and 1 beef) arrived warm/near cold instead of hot. The fried egg rolls were hardly crispy. The Pho Dac Biet should have rare steak like all the others that came out of the kitchen. Ours, again, was not only served near cold, but had much less serving compared to other Pho restaurants and did not have the rare steak. The first set that came out of the kitchen must have sat waiting to be served for sometime. The 2nd set of food which was the beef salad and bbq pork with rice were served hot and well seasoned.We may give it another try if were in the general area. Right now wouldnt recommend based on our experience today.

My only complaint is that I would have liked to see a bit more meat in my pho, but five stars anyway for all of the positive aspects: a combo pho with tripe and tendon (not all places offer this), noodles were cooked to perfection and the broth was on point. Service was quick and friendly. I really appreciated getting the refills on my iced tea without having to ask. Prices are in line with what you would expect for the area.

I have mixed experiences here. This was the first place Ive ever ordered vegetarian pho and I loved it so much, I brought a couple of people with me on subsequent visits.On my third visit I brought my parents along and had an unfortunate experience. We ordered food and after an initial wait one of the dishes was served. However, we waited another 40 min and when we flagged down a server they asked if we wanted the check. It was infuriating that they forgot our orders (except the one dish) and didnt even realize that from looking at our empty table and asked if we were ready to pay.To be fair they were quite busy with pick up / delivery orders so I sympathize with them but it still left me with a bad taste in my mouth.On a later visit the vegetable pho broth was watered down (this was one out of the five times Ive eaten veggie pho there) and on my recent visit we ordered spring rolls and were surprised that they charge $8 for two spring rolls. I really wanted to love it here but the overall feeling is negative/mediocre.

I love the flavor of this little gem, there are sooooo many great options on the menu but its hard to break old food habits. Sometimes if you want to venture outside of your normal choices, they are fantastic about suggesting items or will help you decide between two dishes. When I ordered my items to go I went back outside to wait and Im pretty sure it was ready faster than I could blink. I intended to take the food back home, but it smelt too good and I ended up eating my meal in my car in the parking lot.

This is a small and cozy little Pho restaurant. The service is spectacular and they dont have a problem adjusting your order to your specifications. The food is delicious and is served fast and fresh. There is a parking lot, but it can be a little difficult to park during the busy hours. But the food and experience is well worth it! I highly recommend this Pho restaurant.

I had the #81 (lemongrass flame broiled beef with curry). The meat was very well cooked and seasoned, and the rice was also cooked well. I had the #9 (egg rolls) as well, and they were very good, with a tasty sweet chili sauce. It was too hot for pho, but Ill be back for that next time. Service was very fast, and friendly.

We are all part of a great community, why must we be hostile towards another?There was no such animosity here. Service was polite and friendly, despite me coming in 30 minutes prior to closing. To that point, you ******* had better tip properly. Don’t spite their good customer service with your frugality.The pho is good, the broth having a nice body of spices that complement the umami of the bones and meat used to make the broth.For readers from King County, WA, the broth is in the same flavor profile as Pho In N Out in Kent/Renton (which I also enjoy for its heavy use of spices). I am not fond of the recent trend of adding more sugar to pho, as seems to be prevalent throughout Seattle. So if you like Pho Bác súp shop in Seattle you may not like Pho Lantern due to how different the flavors are.I highly recommend coming here for a bowl of pho, their professionalism is what will bring me back here when next I visit OC.

We went in recently (May 25th) thinking it would be take out only but we’re surprised to find out that we could dine in already! They are open and taking take out orders as well as for dine-in (with some restrictions).I went with my housemates and we ordered the filet mignon pho plate which was very good and very savory. The combination fried rice, however caught us by surprise. This was truly the best fried rice we have ever tasted, and everyone at my table was taken back by the flavor. This will definitely be my go-to plate on future visits and we plan to come whenever we’re back in town.TL;DR: I HIGHLY recommend the combination fried rice

Anyone who doesnt review 5 doesnt know, lost their sense of taste or has the flu; this place is the best Ive had! All bests have a different scale that has detailed flavors to discuss but no food ever gets any better than this. Worst treatment ever! I ordered chicken soup for my 2yr old daughter and egg rolls for myself. 30 minutes later and we are still not served. Two more customers came after me and got their order, one had ordered the exact same like me. So I inquire how much longer my order will take and the cashier tells me my order just got placed in the kitchen. The waiter that served me was seated eating his dinner. Worse of all, the cashier not being polite at all ask me if he can cancel my order. Of course I said yes and took my hungry baby to another restaurant! What I dont understand is why I got such negative treatment, does my skin color have something to do with it. I love Vietnamese food but this cafe killed that love in me!!!

I eat here often and my favorite meal is the wonton soup. Its a lot of food at a great price. I always have leftovers for lunch the next day. I always have an enjoyable experience at Pho Lantern, whether its pick up or dine in. I stick with the vermicelli noodles with pork, and the chicken spring rolls, and they are both delicious. The prices are very fair, the service is quick. What else is there to say? One of these days Ill have the pho, and I anticipate itll be just as good.

My favorite pho in newport/CM you will love it. I almost hate to review this gem as it is small and their can be a wait. We have tried all their dishes and they are all top notch quality and flavor. Its like eating in a traditional westminister location without risking death by questionable sanitary and quality controls. The price is very fair for entrees but they get you on the apps. 6 dollars for spring rolls the size of my thumb is upsetting but most people may not be addicted to spring rolls so no stars removed. If your not a pho fan do not hesitate and just order the vermicilli lemon grass pork dish. You will see unicorns and tip double because it tastes that good. Phone ordering is simple and they do prep food fairly quick for how well packaged the food is. Dont sleep on the lantern Google!

I love Vietnamese food and am a regular here. It is average with OK ingredients, tomatoes & cucumbers are tastless, but every dish is tasty. I usually get the BBQ pork bun, my husband is vegan and he has many choices. I give it four stars because you can depend on a tasty dish for a good value and we are starved for any Vietnamese in the CM area. And of course the pho is fab too.

A-OK. Its a pho place that has opened in an older shopping center in desperate need of renovation, not just remodeling. Still, there is good effort on behalf of the restaurant owners, but it just doesnt live up to competitors in the area.When I order a pho dac biet, I expect to see ngo gai (sawtooth herb) and a variety of meats in my soup. Instead, its the standard fare here, flank, brisket, sliced beef, meatball. Portion size small, lack of creative portions of beef, and the herb plate is super basic (bean sprouts, lime, Thai basil). No cilantro, no mint, just the minimum basics.Hey dont get me wrong, you want to give me the basics, Im totally cool with that, but then dont charge me $8.95 for a basic bowl of pho.Maybe Im just spoiled coming from Phoenix, but over there I could get a bigger bowl of pho, super large portions of beef (and many different kinds) not to mention a variety of herbs on my vegetable plate (and extra free vegetables if I asked!) for less than 5 bucks.Ive been told that California is just more expensive to set up shop in, but then how do you explain how Banh Mi Che Cali just a little further south can pull it off for only $6.99? Very basic pho there, but a more appropriate price point (still not 5 bucks though).I also ordered a Thai tea here once and was shocked at the price point of $3.95 for a large, basically 4 bucks. Hey, I wouldnt be complaining if it was actually a large size, but it doesnt feel like one.All in all, if you ignore prices, its just an okay experience. Factor in prices, and Im scratching my head why people would come here when theres more affordable pho places that serve bigger portions at reasonable prices. Called at 9:00 pm asked when they closed, the answer 9:30pm. I asked do you seat til 9:30 or only to go til 9:30, response “ we seat til 9:30”.My wife and I showed up less than 10 minutes later, at 9:08. They turned us away and said they are closed. I told them I just called a few minutes ago. The two boys working there said “ no, we’re closed”. As a business owner I would want to know that my employee is turning away business and income.
