I come here often, its a very cozy feel for me. Entire staff is fun and pleasant. I think its because I eat A LOT.This time I ordered a papaya salad, but everything is great on the menu.PSA. Dont be overly picky with your food, they take great care in creating their cuisine for us to have. Embrace their cuisine, their heritage and their hospitality. Trust your experience will be exceptional if you do so!!!

The portion of meat they add to the dishes is a lot, the beef is always nicely flavored. My favorite go to meals are BBQ spring rolls, rice vermicelli, and of course the banh mai. Staff is always accommodating, and sweet. love supporting this small businesses

I love this place, honestly my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The pho is consistently good. Never fails when I’m hungover or feeling sick, a hug for the soul. I’d definitely recommend visit. #13, #36, Special appetizer are my favorites. You can also try their boba, is yummy.

Wow! I lived near here for years and never saw this place until today. Best Pho place I have been to for a long time. Owners great! His name is Little. Best Bahn Mi sandwich because they make their bread there fresh. Its big too! Also the Pho soups and broth delicious. I havent tried everything but the menu has unique dishes added on than other places. Prices great, ambiance casual and nice. Definitely try it out. Next time I want to try the salmon plate, oxtail soup, and fried shrimp.

They have alot of variety in drinks I got a Thai iced tea add Boba for 25cents. I was surprised that the special pho had meatballs included at not extra cost I know that in other places they charge you for extra meatball servers where so friendly and food quality was amazing I love it ♡ please give this place a chance its so worth it 🥰

The best Vietnamese food I have ever tasted. There is seating outside next to the restaurant, the trees makes a great shading from the sun. Pricing is great but the flavor of the food is better!Some of the staff dont know how to speak English but has been always courteous and kind. The owner is hard working and must have a photographic memory because she remembers what we order the last time.(June 2018): If I could pick up this restaurant including the owner and the staff, I would move it to my home state.Next time I come to visit National City this would be the first place Id like to dine at. If you havent been here before, trust me, youll love the place and come here often.Edit (Oct 2019): Came back to National City for a visit and just found out the the original owners moved out to the east coast. Food flavor isnt the same as it was before. So sorry...and I was so looking forward to dinner here.Edit (May 2022): What can I say!? Keep coming back when I am in town! My favorite pho soup in san diego. Really great tasting pho or phat thai with your side od spring rolls or eggroll, Dont forget to ask for your boba tea and smoothie. Mango smoothie is definitely my favirite. Service staff is very friendly and always asking if you need anything unlike other places where you only see the staff once. Space us limited but worth it.

The Beef Rib Pho or Oxtail Pho... OMG! Bahn Mi are decent. I like the pork belly one but they didnt have it the last time I went... rice plates are okay as well. I wish they had the Tau hu ky and shredded pork skin and loaf to go with all the plates that woul be dope. Also not sure if its actually broken rice used but it was still pretty good

1st visit. Huge portions! I had the BBQ rice plate . Friend had beef rib Pho. We shared egg roll appetizer and had the owners special coffee. The coffee was delish- sweet strong, smooth and creamy. Worrh the trip by itself. The meal was very good and prices are reasonable. The staff is very friendly and give a good welcome. My friend recommends the avocado shake. I got the strawberry to go. This place is hands down the top 5 or the just best Vietnamese in all San Diego. Their portions the largest i have ever seen in the to go box and dine in. I ordered the BBQ beef with rice plate over the phone and they daid about 10 minutes to be ready. I arrived 15 minutes later and it was sitting at the front ready for pick up. I love their BBq sauce/marinade and i havent seen another vietnamese place with this flavor and generous portions. You really get your moneys worthworth here. And you know you are actually getting real beef, real chicken. Im not trying to be rude but some places i been to seem questionable which i regret never taking pics of and doing reviews. I also took side by side comparison photo of the to go box of pho mai cali & grill comparing it to pho superbowl in la mesa. Will be returning! Also updating if quality and service changes!

Had to place an order online since no one answered the phone after trying for 30 min. I don’t mind placing online orders. I just feel I shouldn’t be charged a convenience fee for taking my own order, and paying ahead of time. Which also means you tip ahead of time not knowing how the service is going to be. The service was HORRIBLE. I understand the whole world is short handed so I try to be extra Courteous to our service providers. I was never greeted or acknowledged by the man at the register. I understand he was busy but he made me feel like I was bothering him. After waiting patiently for five minutes I finally received my order that was sitting on the table ready. I asked for chopsticks, and was given a bad attitude for requesting them. Mind you I had already requested them online. When I got home I only received 2 spring rolls when the online order said 4. When I called to advise them of the mistake, the same man hung up on me. I will definitely take my $47. dollars elsewhere next time. Never again!

The staff said customers were complaining that the boba was too big???. Its boba, large tapioca balls... personally ...its the best part of Any boba drink!! So now they have these tiny little tiny pieces. I ordered extra cuz it seem as if there werent any in the drink. No person who values treating people with respect should order from here. Teach your employees to treat their customers well.We came to pick up a meal like just like everyone else. Its cold, i had a tooth extraction so we wanted Pho. The host gave us our meal. We asked for 5 sauce packets specifically. He got an attitude, then came back with 2 sauce packets. My wife said hey I asked for 5 sauces.He replied defiantly I gave you enough, what more do you want!Extra garnish is already $1 extra and the Pho is $14 (which is wildly overpriced for a Pho place). So...this place gives free boba if you leave a 5 star review...so that explains THAT. The spring rolls were literally the worst Ive ever had in my life; they werent disgusting per se but the meat was so dry!! The pho was okay, nothing special and the fatty brisket was almost all fat and the noodles were clumped together. Service was poor, the girl was incredibly sweet but my food came out like a full 5 minutes before my friends and it was very difficult to get anyones attention to order or for our bill, and it wasnt a crowded night at all. For the price its not bad but I wont be going out of my way for this place.

Will definitely order again5/1/20 Edit: on 4/30/20 I re ordered food from here last night through Uber eats and had my husband pick it up.. I could immediately taste the difference in the quality of food this time and it was not fresh at all. The pork tasted soapy and the beef did not taste fresh at all. I woke up this morning with a stomach bug and I am currently pregnant. I’m so upset. Prob won’t return for a while. This is my second time eating here and I really hyped them up the first time

I went there Feb. 2021. I have driven year ago and the smell of the grill seemed super yummy. I decided to go and I ordered a grill plate. I’m not kidding you... the shrimp was cold, ( like right out of the refrigerator) chicken and meat were room temperature at best the only hot thing was egg rolls. I will not go there again.

Awesome food and great prices.I have been coming here since she first opened. A couple of years ago, I called and ordered. It was dinner time and it was pretty busy. Every table was full. The owner Mai, after handing me two bags of food, noticed my daughter who was 3 at the time, walking next to me. She insisted on helping me get my bags to the car. I refused of course, I didn’t really need the help, but her kindness that day always stuck with me. She remembers what drink I always order.She has an amazing menu. Go see her.

Just got a vegetarian order of egg rolls and they were drenched in oil, the batter was dark and not crispy. It took me several napkins to dry them decently. What happened to the old administration where the lady at the front took so much pride in the quality? I miss them!

Just had this for the first time tonight and I must say this place is delicious! I had there rare steak, spring rolls, and hot tea. Absolutely delicious! Its not only some of the best Pho in National City but I would its some of the best Pho in all of San Diego County. Truly delicious! Ill definitely be back for more!

Food was pretty good. The pho was delicious. But the lemongrass chicken and the noodles were just okay for me. The wait for the food took a little longer than expected, but staff were nice enough. The highlight for me was their green tea with strawberry and basil which was just very tasty.

Lol by far, the Rudest customer service you’ve ever encountered. Their only nice if your a new customer- however, I come back time and time again because the food is AMAZING! And it’s so good it’s worth every stupid second in that restaurant. Prices are amazing! Portion sizes are extraordinary! I love love this mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant!!! It is the best in San Diego by far, I have eaten couple Vietnamese restaurant and nothing comes close to this. The food is fresh and taste homemade. The prices is decent and the portions are huge. We come here about 2-3 times a month, I could come more but it would look like I’m lazy to cook lol. My whole family and friends come here to eat as well. The whole family owner makes you feel comfortable and knows exactly who comes in and know what you like amazing!!! I highly recommend this Vietnamese restaurant😁

Cancelled my online order after waiting 20+ minutes via Uber Eats. Hopefully I wont have to fight my CC company to get a refund. No explanation why it was cancelled.Edit: thank you for responding. It seems most of the problem is with the Uber Eats app. Ill try sometime in person if we can ever get Covid under control.2nd edit: I have tried twice now. It is good food but last time they forgot to give the driver my Thai tea.This has now become one of my favorites. Everything Ive tried is excellent.

Our fave Vietnamese food/Pho place. It’s a small yet family-friendly place that serves BIG portions of fresh honest-to-goodness quality food. The broth for their Pho is excellent and non-greasy (the #2 and #13 Pho are gold IMHO). Their hearty banh mi sandwiches, Barbecue combos, authentic Vietnamese dishes and Thai iced teas are also hard to beat. It just amazes me each time the owner can take down big orders just by memory - including all drinks! Her and the staff are also uber friendly and attentive to customers. Their loyal clientele keep coming back for a reason and I can see why. Enjoy!!!

Best Vietnamese food ever. Price point is very reasonable, menu has great variety and service is fast. Mai seems to remember each of her customer’s favorite meal. It’s so funny to hear ‘same’ even before you sit down. Mai Cali is a must for any rainy or chilly day. Fortunately, our other favorites include spicy lemongrass chicken or veggie spring roll.

(Alr mfs this review is 3 years old and y’all need the update.)Update: Mai the owner has since left to Chicago and the pho is still great but I really can’t stand by the soggy tapioca boba. The drinks just aren’t as tasty as they used to be. She used to make them and they were so good, she used to have a generous amount of boba added. Wish I had a better suggestion but for now this boba sucks pp, thanks.Old review: Pho tastes amazing and the boba tastes amazing. Also the tapioca tastes fresh and authentic unlike other places. Highly recommend if you want good food at a good price.

My fish was undercooked, the staff was not as eager to provide the service we expect, anytime we go out to spend our hard earned money. Yes, we were there close to end of their business hours, but we are still paying customers. They didnt charge me for the dish, but by then I was no longer hungry anymore.

Its honestly my favorite place to get pho. The food is so good and theres a comfortable environment as soon as you walk through the door. It has a very small parking lot, though, since its in a little strip mall. My only tip would be to be clear with the servers on what you want, since theyre not great with English, but theyre doing their best.

Super Lame !! Ordered two sandwiches, they didnt come with vegetables. Every other Pho Grill in the south bay includes vegetables. When I called after I got home with my order and asked about the vegetables.... OH!OH !!! Thats the lousy response I got !! OH !! Haven’t visited yet but I ordered their food on UberEats and it did not disappoint! Very tasty and fresh food! I made special notes about having the fresh spring rolls with only veggies no noodles or tofu and THEY GOT IT RIGHT! We also orders their yummy Thai Iced Tea and Taro smoothies! Very disappointed with the broth, which tastes like burnt plastic. Hands down, the worst pho Ive ever had. My 5 y/o daughter even told me, the broth tastes funny. I dont normally write reviews but I felt compelled to write one based on service, food, accuracy of order, knowledge, and most of all the 4.7 rating (should be 4.7 out of 10). We ordered 3 pho noodles (2 large shrimp with extra shrimp and veges and 1 small combo) and a spring roll. Not a complicated order IMO. We get the 3 pho noodles and wait for the spring rolls which are nowhere to be found. We get a garnish for the pho that is barely enough for 1 small pho. I had to literally ask twice for more from the foodrunner and he gave me a funny look for whatever reason. I also asked about the spring rolls and they were still clueless. Both of the large shrimp pho with extra shrimp had 5-6 shrimp (not sure I would call the 6th a shrimp). When I ask if mine was with extra shrimp they didnt know. When I asked about how many shrimp come in the large shrimp pho they still didnt know. BTW, the shrimp pho does not come with veges. They server came to our table twice (once for the order and once on the tail end of our food coming out when we cancelled the spring rolls and extra shrimp). We ate, cashed out, and left. I was excited about eating pho and at this place but it was quite a let down. Needless to say, we probably wont be revisiting. The terrible service, cluelessness, accuracy of order is just not worth it. I was, honestly, left in awe. The pho is decent. It needs to be a hell of a lot better to overcome the other issues.

Love this place! Highly recommended! I get the PHO-GA, its like chicken soup and the magic is in the broth. I get the Large bowl, you can get a medium or small. I like to have the egg rolls as an appetizer and after wanting to fall asleep after eating PHO I order the Vietnamese Expresso to get me home! This is a must on my list!
