Phuong Nam Restaurant in San Jose

This was our first Here and we will be coming back again. The only knock that I would have for this restaurant is they dont have much vegetarian options and lunch was kind of pricy. The server was not as attentive as I would like. With that said, the quality of the food was phenomenal and our server was very helpful and cute, which helps. Overall, you must at least try this place once.

Food was alright, quite overpriced. Apparently many people enjoyed the fried chicken feed, it was just salty and crunchy like chips, not a good appetizer. Sour soup was fairly good, but of course a bit much msg, otherwise not bold enough flavors.

I come here after reading all the reviews. I was skeptical about it but the foods were actually amazing. I can’t stop munching on the chicken feet. The shaking beefy was so tasty and the beef melted in my mouth!! Nothing taste like frozen food that just get recooked.I had my kids with me but they don’t like Vietnamese food as much, however phuong the owner went out of her way and make them fries and nuggets from the chicken wings. All the server were so nice, hence they made me feel obligated to share my experience here on Google for everyone to know this good restaurant. The foods, the people and the atmosphere were amazing!!!

Everything we ordered here (as recommended by the server) was so good, but I have to especially mention the Thai fried rice. This dish was delicious! Followed by the asparagus crabmeat soup and the Shaking Beef dish. It was late and we were hungry so I forgot to take photos of the food. We also enjoyed the Vietnamese music playlist. We hadnt really listened to Vietnamese pop music before but we quite enjoyed listening to it and watching the music videos on the big TV on the wall behind the counter.

This is a $8 large bowl rice. Could not understand it is so “large” ! The baby Cuttlefish was not cleaned enough, some comes with ink, they are also burnt.

Wow wow wow! I brought my coworkers from Boston who were looking for some authentic Vietnamese food. We walked in not really knowing what to expect. Soon as the waitress saw us she ran over and sat us down. I didnt know what to expect or order but my coworker was already on it. He ordered all the food for the table and was explaining each dish to us. He and the waitress had great conversations and she recommended some amazing dishes. I have to say this was one of the best experiences I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Every dish comes out fresh and delicious. The staff here gets a gold star! They are fast and very friendly. If you are looking for some good food and great service this is it.

Delicious food in a nice atmosphere..., but a little costly

One of the best places for vietnamese food. Every item we ordered hit the spot. The staff are very nice, polite and well mannered. Super recommend this restaurant. You wont regret it.

The dish I ordered was good, but the experience was horrible. I went with my family and the first half got all of their food “on time,” but the other half (which I arrived with) didn’t get their food. I was the only one who got my dish, but I waited a long time for it. The second waitress who gave me my food apologized for the wait because “they were busy on orders,” but my family were literally the only customers there. A group of the staff’s friends came in a while later after us as well and a dish was brought out to them shortly after my dish was given to me, but my remaining family members still didn’t get their dish. That was the last straw and my hungry family members just cancelled their orders.The staff, namely the main waitress that served us, was also very unprofessional. She had a video call with someone, didn’t come to us often to see if we needed help, and when their friends came in she sat at the table with them and just talked. After that, it seems like her work was pushed to the second waitress who gave me my dish.The food is also very expensive, even the appetizers. They also apparently don’t serve tap water and only give bottled water, which is $3 each.
