I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I got the Dan Dan noodles and loved the texture. Maybe too much sauce. I also had the chilled pork and the cabbage which was the vegetable of the day. Service was fantastic. Restaurant was very clean. Overall, I would absolutely return.

Coming back to this place after 8 years and it’s just as delicious and popular as when it just opened. Dishes we tried this time: Beef noodle soup, Wonton soup, Dan Dan noodles, wood ear mushroom side. 5⭐️ all around. Compared to authentic Taiwanese restaurants food here is lighter, for example, their beef noodle soup won’t put you in a food coma, which is a huge plus for me. Dan Dan sesame-peanut sauce noodles were very tasty, and again had that lightness to them. And wood ear mushrooms with cilantro just stole my heart! Will definitely be back to try their rice dishes.

It gets pretty busy even during the week but for good reason. Everything we ordered was a hit. My partner ordered the beef soup and we shared shrimp wontons and pork potstickers. The dan dan noodles are what stole the show - even my partner was eating off my plate. These noodles are perfection! Thick, creamy, and the cucumbers add a fresh taste. Portion sizes were just right and we left feeling like we had a nourishing meal. The service was extremely friendly and our hosts explained the wait times clearly.

One of my go to spots in la to eat at and recommend. The dan dan noodles and spicy shrimp wontons are on my list of food I cant get enough of. I get this place to go often but going in and eating it in person is even better. Id recommend getting the chili oil they sell to go - amazing on all dishes.The service here has always been great - they are checking up on you often and crack jokes with the guest, which gives me a homey vibe. I also love the pricing, I think its fair for the amount of food that youre getting. Always a treat eating here!

Pine and Crane is delicious. This restaurant serves traditional Taiwanese food in an American setting. Although I live 40 minutes/1 hour away, Pine and Crane is worth the drive every time.The Beef Rolls and Three Cup Jidori Chicken are incredible and the flavors are fantastic. However Ive had a minor issue with the consistency of the Beef Rolls at Pine and Crane. Sometimes the rolls are overloaded with hoisin sauce, sometimes the texture of the pancake had a grainy texture. Out of the 3 times Ive had the beef rolls, they were never exactly the same.The Minced Pork on Rice is an excellent dish for children and a safe choice for adults.The majority of items on this menu are great and everything is reasonably priced. Parking is a bit difficult at this location but I am still able to find parking every time I go. The staff are helpful and occasionally take some time to clear the tables for your next dishes. I love this restaurant and I highly recommend Pine and Crane to anyone that is craving asian food.

Ive been to Joy, its sister restaurant, and Ive been loving it so much! This restaurant is recommended by a friend so I just have to try it! 💃🏻 Since their famous dishes (like lu rou fan, dan dan noodle, and shrimp wontons) are also available at Joy, I decided to try other things on the menu:- Three Cup Jidori Chicken 🐔. Cooked and seasoned to perfection! Its not overly salty, but still very flavorful. I also love the little spicy kick this dish gives! 🌶️ Meat is soooo tender. Love the rice that comes with it so much, it is very fluffy HAHA 😛!- Beef Roll 🐮. Pretty good! They are very generous with the fresh cucumber, which makes a nicer cricpy texture to the whole dish. Beef is also very tender! 💕 I just wish that they put less hoisin sauce 😝!- Pan Fried Pork Bun 🐷. Flavor is fairly bland, but the dough is amazing, it is very puffy and soft YUMS 🤤! The pork filling is also juicyy. If you like food with strong flavor, this dish might not be for you.Parking is extremely challenging 😥! Overall, a good restaurant. 🫶🏻

Good authentic Taiwanese food. The Toufu cold dish and Dan Dan noodles are really scrumptious. Beef noodles not as great as the original in Taiwan. The beef roll looks good and will try on next visit. Maipo Toufu yummy too.

Delicious spot for Taiwanese food. The passion fruit Taiwanese beer with boba was so yummy and unique! The peanut salad was just peanuts, the Dan Dan noodles were great, the shrimp wontons were also yummy, and the scallion pancake was also good.

Glad I stopped by. The cashier took note that I was interested in dumplings, and a different staff member brought me out some of them to try while I was waiting for my Beef Roll order. They did this despite being super busy during lunch hours. Food tasted great and was a good value, considering the area. Very welcoming, clean, and cool atmosphere. Would bring a date or family here. 👌

Really great food and an amazing menu of taiwanese Chinese food. We enjoyed every dish. If we had to make one comment wed like just a bit more spicy heat in dishes. Service was great, food came out pretty quickly and the staff removed empty dishes throughout the mail. Seating inside and outside. No parking lot, parking can be a challenge in Silverlake, plan ahead. Highly recommended.

We have been making this our default dinner spot lately when we cant think of what else to get. That and we always are craving Pine and Crane. Theres almost always a line out the door but consider that a testament to how good it is. The prices are not awful and the portions are perfect. Beef noodle soup and the pan fried pork buns are our go to meals. Service is fast and they always get your food out within a couple minutes once you sit down. Definitely the definition of a 5 star restaurant.

It’s recommended by a friend. Really good spot in silverlake restaurants area. We arrived there at 2:30 but still quite busy. Only long table and a couple of tables available. Luckily the tables were turned around very fast. The food is great! Highly recommend the beef noodles! Please taste the broth before pouring the soy sauce or vinegar. The broth is simply delicious. The service was good, a white guy came to check how the food tasted. But another Latino g? guy literally passed the dirty tables a couple of times without cleaning and also had the attitude face. That’s why giving 4stars. Sorry, its not cool if you serve the people. 🙄

This rating is based off of a take out experience & I would assume it’s a lot better if you dine in.The outdoor area is a nice spot for a date or to take your family out. The indoor dining looks great too. I chose take out though.I ordered the Beef roll which had a five spice beef & I thought it was delicious but it was really hard to eat because it falls apart easily. I think if it wasn’t cut in sections and eaten like a burrito, that would of been better.The Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken made with Jidori chicken, Thai basil, & pepper salt was real good, but I wish they had more sauces to dip it in. As a stand alone dish it’s solid.Now the Pork belly clamshell bun made with braised pork belly, cilantro, mustard greens, & peanuts tasted delicious but it was pretty underwhelming.I also ordered the minced pork on rice which had a soy braised egg, & house daikon pickle. This was my least favorite but still descent.The Shrimp wontons we’re very greasy but delicious. The Pan fried pork buns were made of kurobuta pork, Taiwanese cabbage, & scallions. I also didn’t think it was that good but I still ate some.Overall I think this spot has a lot of great menu options. I’d definitely come back for the beef soup. This spot is only about two months old so I know it’ll improve. I’d say more or a 3.5 out of 5 spot rather than a 4.

Got take out. Good: the fried buns and the beef roll were okay. Beef noodle soup is very beefy, very rich. The best thing were the mushrooms. Bad: worst dandan noodles Ive ever had to be quite honest. The flavor profile just isnt what Im used to. I was hoping for more spice, more depth of flavor. It really fell flat.

Absolutely love!!! We ordered some cold appetizers and hot dishes and everything was great. Good atmosphere and not hard to get a seat. No parking lot, but theres street parking in the neighborhood nearby. Reasonable prices and good tea options, too. Highly recommend the beef roll.

A very lovely place for delicious Taiwanese food. The Dan Dan noodles were absolutely the best I’ve ever had in LA - here you find THE ideal sesame peanut sauce and seasoning. The Taiwanese spinach was also cooked to perfection and almost one of a kind. The panfried pork buns were very different from the Shanghainese variety but nonetheless tasty, so was their quite unique take on shrimp wontons.

Really cant say enough good thing about this place. Tasty food? Check! Decent value? Check! Good dining environment? Check! Good variety? Check! Friendly service? Check! The only down side is this place doesnt have dedicated parking and finding one around the neighborhood could be painful. Came in around 1:30 pm on a Wednesday and didnt have to wait at all. The food was really authentic and flavourful. With inflation going out of control, the bill was really reasonable. Definitely recommended!!

If I could rate Pine and Crane higher I would! Apart from every dish being amazing in their own ways, the costumer service is the best I have seen. Within minutes of sitting down you are quickly served and throughout the meal the staff check to see if you are enjoying the food. Finally made it to this restaurant. We Loved Taiwanese food. Looking forward to the Panfried pork bun, beef noodles and wantons with chili oil. To me, the food was just ok. Nothing to bragged about. The buns were too thick and the pork was about a quarter size. Beef noodles was ok. Taste like it was missing something. Beef was too lean. The noodles were delicious. I gave a 3 star because we were supposed to have this to go. Because the wait was 20min for a table. But they forgot our order and had to wait longer than 20 minutes. They quickly cleared a table for us and ended up eating at the restaurant.

This is a great spot for Asian comfort food. I love all the small plates that are offered here and all the dishes here are really tasty. I would definitely recommend the pork buns and shrimp wontons for a lighter meal/snack. I like that you can order on their app if you decide to eat on their patio area. The service is quick here as well.

Food here overall is more on the bland side compared to traditional Taiwanese food. Our favorites were the three cup mushroom, mapo tofu and the peanut salad. We got there right after opening and there were still plenty of seats inside. They suggested ordering online to save time and sitting outside. We assumed that meant we would still get dine in service but it was basically take out which was a bummer. I was hoping for some good veggie options but it was quite limited so we got cabbage. It was bland. The pork buns were also disappointing. That was $80 with tip.

A genius concept and a great experience both for the food and the people watching.The place is small and crowded but it gets fast turnover and youre seated before you know it. While you wait the entertainment of observing the locals keeps you busy and intrigued.Several beers on tap, a few exotic Asian drinks that the kids loved and some selected wines are offered.Not only can I recommend this place but it should be a must for visitors of this area. The whole family loved it!

The beef roll was to die for! We ordered several things to share but next time Ill get a beef roll just to myself, because it was THAT tasty. Not sure what spices they use but its sweet, salty, maybe spicy. Simply delightful.Peanut sauce noodles were creamy and had a light flavor.The chicken with rice was too sweet for my taste.Hard to find a spot to sit outside, but the service is fairly quick considering how busy they are.

Michelin Star | Casual Vibe | Decent FoodVisited this place for a late lunch on a Sunday. Given that this restaurant features on the Michelin Guide, I wasnt too surprised to see long lines outside the restaurant. Fortunately though, there is open public seating outside the restaurant for use by the general public. I ordered my food as take out and enjoyed it outdoors on a bright sunny LA afternoon. They had placed a QR code outside the restaurant for people to look up their menu and order food to go.As for the food, I ordered the Shrimp Wontons and Beef Noodle Soup. The estimated time to prepare the order was 30 min but I had my order in around 10 min. Loved the Shrimp Wontons, which were loaded with quintessential Taiwanese/Asian flavors! The Beef Noodle Soup was not as great. The meat seemed chewy when I first put it in the broth but after a couple of minutes, it was melt-in-the-mouth. In hindsight, I should have ordered the Three Cup Jidori Chicken, which is the dish actually featured on the Michelin Guide.They source their ingredients locally and it definitely shows in the food. Located just outside the Hollywood Sign and the Griffith Park, this restaurant is a must try!

I was invited for lunch as soon as I arrived back to Los Angeles, the menu here offers both for dinner and lunch. The line went by very fast and the music in the venue was nice. The dishes were very tasty and it was priced fairly. The restroom was rather clean. Five stars from the service.I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family.

If you ever pass by this restaurant, youll notice a long line. Once you eat here, you know why!The interior has a rustic feel with really nice, mellow vibes. Compared to how busy they are, theres definitely not enough seating but since COVID, theyve set up seats and tables outside. You can choose to take your order to-go and eat it outside or wait outside while waiting to dine-in.You order at the register and then they give you a number to wait outside. Once a table is ready, theyll seat you!We waited about 25-30 minutes and upon being seated, the dishes started to roll out pretty quickly.Dan Dan noodles- for something that looks like it has a few ingredients-- THE FLAVOR IS SO BOMB!!! Noodles in peanut sauce covered in thinly cut cucumbers?! Omg ... one bite of the noods with few pieces of cucumber?? Has my eyes rolling back. I dont know why this dish is so good to me hahaI had Dan Dan noodles at one other place besides here and it did not compare at all.Beef noodle soup- the closest thing I can compare this to is pho but this had a more rich/concentrated beef flavor. The chili oil is soooo good to eat other dishes with.They have a pretty large drink menu!We tried the Taiwan beer in lychee flavor 3.5% alcohol and the yuzu sparkling water.The lychee flavor, of course, tastes like straight up lychee juice. It was SO yummy!!! I couldve had 5 more.The yuzu was strong and very carbonated. If you like yuzu, you will like this drink! Its in the cutest little glass bottle that you can reuse.The service was great, very attentive and efficient! The water is self serve.Also-- did I mention the prices are very reasonable!Parking can be tricky as it is street parking.I recommend going early/late lunch and/or dinner to avoid the rush!

Unique and delicious menu! Pine and Crane was a total surprise ad so glad we stumbled upon it.We had a restricted diet so we tried the bok choy dumplings. Simply delicious! Next time we will be able to open ourselves to the full menu.Ample seating without being crowded with a wonderful staff. You get the sense these folks enjoy working at Pine and Crane.

SIMPLE FOOD ELEVATED CASUALLY(Warning: Young adults from Central Florida in for vacation) There was nothing crazy about the dishes here-- and that’s great! Although the atmosphere and the appearance of the dishes seemed to tell me I’d be getting a ‘millennial froo froo’ experience, I was pleasantly surprised to find the dishes tasted like something I’d get from a great, home chef’s kitchen.LIKE A COMFORT FOODAt first I wanted another dimension of flavor in my Zha Jiang Noodles (Noodles in a fermented soybean base), I also really liked it because it tasted very simple. This was the recurring theme of all our dishes. I especially loved their side of Seasoned Woodear Mushrooms- I’m pretty sure it was just sesame oil and peppers. Other comforts came from their Pork Dumplings and Pork Potstickers. Everything was simple yet done very well.ALSO- IT’S A CASUAL ENVIRONMENT DONE WELLWhen I saw images of the dishes online, I didn’t expect that this was a place where you order your food at a counter. During our visit, the line stretched out the door, and every single seat was taken. However, Pine + Crane does the smart thing of doing away with having someone in your party ‘saving a seat.’ Instead, a staffer finds a seat for you AFTER your group orders at the counter. Based on our visit, nobody waited longer than five minutes after ordering.

Finally I was able to try out this place. It was way too long line at dinner rush, this time I got here before the store open at 12 noon. Sea salted cream jasmine green tea is a must, as well as the cold appetizer side (bamboo shoots & lotus root). Also recommended the dan dan number, it had a spicy kick. Panfried Pork bun are just ok, it wasn’t that juicy inside as I was expected. It’s a self service restaurant. After you order, you will get a number and found ur seats and get all the place and bowl and water yourself.

My favorite place! I came here a couple time and never disappointed. Their service is really great and helpful. Yesterday I went and the restaurant was packed so we waited quite long for the table. Food is delicious. Amazing prices for the quality. Dan Dan Noodles are the bomb. Taking off two stars because they need to fix their outdoor seating. Pine and Crane is on a wonderful pedestrian street, so there’s no excuse for a bad outdoor setup. My biggest gripe is that I hate that they still do takeout containers for outdoor seating. This is only since COVID! The experience just isn’t great, and the food isn’t fresh if you have a dog or if you want to sit outside. You’ll be waiting with the rest of the delivery orders.

We decided to check out the parent restaurant to Joy on York for dinner. The menu is much more robots and the dishes are pretty light in comparison to most Chinese or Taiwanese spots. Light as in less salt, garlic and oil.We tried the wood eat mushrooms, bean curd and seaweed for appetizers. All three were good, but we liked the bean curd the best of the three.For our main meal we had the beef roll, pan fried pork buns, wonton noodle soup, three cup jidori chicken, pea sprouts and mapo tofu. We liked the Pam fried pork buns and mapo tofu the best. The pork buns had perfectly crispy bottoms while keeping the doughy texture of the thick bun and the mapo tofu used med firm tofu and was seasoned with just the right amount of spices.The restaurant is fast paced as customers are lined up outside. I would recommend coming before 6pm as parking is limited in the area. The staff is attentive and the food rolls out very fast once you’re seated so come ready to eat.

I came here after enjoying Joy, a sister restaurant of the same owner. Pine and Crane is amazing and tastes like home to me! This is authentic food and it is really well done.The restaurant atmosphere is casual and it can get noisy during the busy evening hours. I suggest coming earlier; the line gets so long to order, people end up waiting outside!We ordered an abundance of food: beef roll, zha Jiang noodles, 5 spice bamboo, cloud ear/wood ear salad, minced pork over rice. The Zha Jiang Noodles were not what I was expecting, but since this food is Taiwanese, it could be different than what I am used to in Beijing. It was good nonetheless. The bamboo and wood ear mushroom salad are my favorite salads here and I get them every time. I loved the beef roll; the outside was crispy, the meat was flavorful and not chewy, the veggies were fresh and still chilled. We ended up taking one of the pork buns home and they make great leftovers!I also tried out their passionfruit shandy which was excellent as well.

Service is always extremely nice and efficient, you can tell that everyone works as a team, food is is something on another level, always fresh, they stick to small menu but literally everything on this menu is masterpiece! Delicious dishes covered our table corner to corner. It was hard picking favorites, but the pork belly with garlic won that honor. The spicy shrimp dumplings were another favorite. They would have a dedicated picture, but we dived into them pretty quickly. One special we got was the sweet potato greens. They were cooked tenderly with garlic and very hearty. The 3 cup jadori chicken had a nice sizzle to the bite that gently warmed the mouth. Each bite slipped around the mouth as the chicken traveled on a wave of gelatinous sauce. The sea salt cream jasmine tea was the perfect balance of sweetness. Sips that combined the cream, salt, and sweet jasmine really hit the spot.Looking forward to my next visit!

Stumbled upon this really cute looking place & the food was quite savory. The spicy dumplings with shrimp are bommb. And I think it’s the dandan or dundun noodles, with the peanut sauce: so f***ng good. Most definitely recommend to try it out.you need to walk to the cashier and prepay some stuff to be seated ( but then you can order more @ your table ) water is self served. Waiters were nice.

One of LAs best restaurants! Its basically Taiwanese tapas and literally everything on the menu is delicious! The best dishes on the menu are the Dan Dan Noodles, Minced Pork on Rice, and the Beef Roll. I recommend getting 4-5 dishes, sharing them all and plan on taking some home. I’d heard about this place before, so I was very happy to discover that it is very much so worth the hype!It was crowded, but we were able to be seated pretty quickly. You order first at the counter before finding somewhere to seat, and they were very quick and friendly.One of them then helped find us somewhere to sit and the food was out in just about no time at all!For the food, we got some of the pork dumplings as well as the pork rice bowl. I also got a white wine to pair with it, as they offer different wine, beer, and sake.The dumplings were delicious - crunchy at the bottom and soft and mushy at the top. I also loved the rice bowl and the two eggs that cake with it.There’s also a lot of healthy options - they have different cold appetizer and vegetable options every day!The dining area was also very nice - small but didn’t feel cramped, thanks to a good design layout. Pine and Crane then is tailor made to address those issues, making it not just the best Chinese west of Chinatown (certainly the best in Silver Lake) but hands down the best place anywhere to introduce anyone new to Chinese food to its authentic appeal.From the outside, Pine and Crane seems like a Japanese restaurant with classy, minimalist wood aesthetics but its actually classic Taiwan/Shanghai, offering staples like pan fried dumplings and beef noodle soup. While quite crowded, the wait staff still allow you to come in and then order before they seat you at whatever spot opens first, alleviating any stress over finding the first space you can. Indeed, the staff as a whole is splendid, some of the best and most helpful you could ask for, being kind, efficient, and helpful with recommendations and information.As to food, its definitely quality. I had the pork pancake and beef noodle, which turned out to feature pickle making for a more mainland feel. Is it the best out there? Ultimately I would still take San Gabriel authentic stuff if given the choice (doesnt hurt that most authentic stuff would be a touch cheaper too) but the fact that it competes with the best speaks volumes.Pine competes on its experience, and delivers cuisine that will be very satisfactory to old hands and sublime to newcomers. But its the overall dining experience that is both accessible and classy which sets Pine apart and makes it essential for visitations to Silver Lake seeking good Asian food. Had a good intro to Pine & Crane in the way of lunch a few months ago. They were quite busy, but we were able to snag some seats by the window and after ordering at the counter, sat back and enjoyed all the food. Had the scallion pancake, the beef roll, and the Dan Dan noodles. I was a huge fan of the scallion pancake and the beef roll, while the boyfriend was a big fan of the Dan Dan noodles (they were a bit too rich and the peanut flavor was a bit too strong). Beef roll needed more sauce, Dan Dan noodles needed some spice and flavor, scallion pancake was very dry and flavorless, shrimp wonton sauce was great but the wonton itself had no flavor. Staff has seen me and my wife waiting for food many times, but nothing is being done proactively.I personally asked 2 times for update on my food. Then the manager comes out and updates me that my order was ‘forgotten’. The exact explanation is, instead of cancelling the table, the kitchen has cancelled the ‘order’. Mysteriously, my order was vanished.They begin to let me know, my order is back in the list and is being expedited. Somehow also trying to occupy my table with side dishes that I don’t want, or feel allergic to, and occupy my time and table with the side dishes until the original order comes out.I, then, rejected the side dishes and let the manager know it’s rather burdening me to have these many dishes in small table they already split me of.Few minutes later, the manager comes and tell me that there is a ‘community fridge’ where the side dishes can go to be shared or some other purpose. She would like to put the side dishes that she brought out to be put into the fridge.In this strange days of COVID, you want to make sure all foods are sanitary. The fact that you bring the food out, and put them back again(wherever the destination may be), is rather making the customers doubt the sanitation, and confuse the quality.To sum it up, the quality of food is on par.The service and accommodation from staff, super bad. Stay away, or rather just do a take out.Service destroyed the food.It ain’t easy to do that.But they accomplished it.Never coming back.

Pine and Crane is a small fast-causual Asian (Taiwanese-Chinese) restaurant in Sunset blvd and Griffith Park blvd on Silverlake neighborhood. I came here to grab a late lunch on a Saturday. Indoor vibe was welcoming. Dining area was spacious, organized with a long community center wooden table. You need to order first at the order counter before being seated. It took me some time because the line was long. It was peak (4 pm) hour and it was crowded. I ordered passion fruit black tea with boba, white rice and jidori chicken. Their utensils/water were self service located at the front counter. The icecold passion fruit black tea was refreshing and deliciously served in a 16 oz thick glass cup with a metal straw which I think was cool and environmental friendly; boba (an extra 50 cents) was sweet soft and chewy ball with gummy-bear like texture. Jidori chicken (chicken, chinese basil, soy sauce, rice wine and sesame oil) was tasty, soft and flavorful and its sauce was thick and a bit too much soy sauce. Serving was above average. Service was fast. Prices were reasonable and competitive. Street parking only and can be difficult given its on Silverlake area. Staff were nice and professional. Overall I had a good food and dining experience.

It is a hip, communal style restaurant. The vegetable dishes are really delicious and I think they sell their vegetables as raw produce you can buy by the pound. The experience is chaotic though. Its popularity means long lines and you order at the counter before you are seated. But after you order, a waitress seats you (in contrast to traditional Chinese cafes). But there isnt really a line to be seated so everyone just kind of crowds together. I had the pea sprouts (amazing), twice cooked pork (which was good but didnt really taste like twice cooked pork), Dan Dan noodles (again good, but not like other Dan Dan noodles Ive had), potstickers (the filling was great, but the wrapper was sort of floury and dry like a tortilla. Didnt enjoy), beef rolls (which lacked the right proportions and also the wrapper was dry and floury and unenjoyable). The wood ear mushrooms as a cold dish which I love, and a spicy beancurd dish that didnt work. But the vegetables were so amazing that Id come back. The sea salt drinks are great. Try them!

There are a few other restaurants with good Taiwanese food and Chinese food but obviously I really dont think you can beat this. The food was incredible and the service was unbelievable. They clean every table after each customer theyre super careful about contact precautions. I really love the dishes because they were not excessively greasy and I thought the ingredients were really good. The proportions were perfect I thought if anything the soup was massive which is great. I really enjoyed the different types of small appetizer plates you can get so that you can still fill up even if you dont think that your main dish is enough. You have a lot of variety and the seating is really fun because its a great atmosphere with good lighting you still get to be around other people but its not too crowded.

She was holding the packages in her arms and demanded pick up confirmation. According to her, I could steal food. Been to the Silverlake location on multiple occasions. Every time has been exceptional. Front of house staff is super polite and personable. Service is extremely fast. Its pretty packed during lunch hour so go earlier or later than the lunch hour. This is a special place. My friends and I sampled the whole menu and there wasnt one weak dish in the bunch. Everything we tried was pound-your-fist-on-the-table good. The dishes seemed to embrace Taiwanese culinary traditions with a focus on perfecting every ingredient and detail. Also, side note, I think its funny that hipster is being used to describe this restaurant. Its a word bogged down with lots of negative connotations. This place looks very stylish and is staffed with lots of cool twenty and thirtysomethings. But, from our experience, the staff were exceedingly kind and welcoming. This food is out of control! And its inexpensive by L A standards. Its kind of like Taiwanese tapas, so you get a bunch of different stuff and then share it. The Dan Dan noodles are crazy yum, the sweet potato fries have this plum powder that makes them extra magical with savory and sweet at the same time. Its a bit of a mob scene, so dont expect to pop in and pop out quickly, but if youre meeting friends or going to see one of the outdoor movies right outside its great. The setup is kind of like M Cafe on Melrose, in that you get in line to order and then sit down and waiters will bring you your food. Once youre seated you can order more food from the wait staff, or go back up to a special line. If you drink, they also serve beer and wine. They also have coed restrooms, so everyone can feel welcome and the mens urinals have a tiny soccer goal inside them. Why dont women have toys in the toilet? I feel like Im going to have to put toys in my toilets from now on. True Confessions, I ate there with my friends Thursday night and then I got the craving so bad I ordered their food again by delivery the very next night!
