Wow! My albondigas soup was so good, and my husband liked his carnitas burrito so well that he picked up another one the next time he went through Barstow. Totally funky hole-in-the-wall place, but the food is great! Portions are generous.

Our entire family grew up eating here. Its always been one of my favorites. Now I bring my kids here to eat every time we pass through Barstow from AZ and Las Vegas. Its a definite stop! The food is great. The original family that owns it we grew up seeing every time my grandpa took us there as kids. Platas is a piece of our childhood memories

Excellent food, friendly staff and ample seating space for groups.The food is incredible and they have varrying levels of spicy salsa and free chips. The carnitas were a little tougher than I like but they were still juicy and everything else in the quesadilla was excellent. Oh, and get the horchata.

So thought Id try this location normally I go to the one in lenwood. Ordered potato and cheese burrito medium spice. What a disappointment! The potatoes kind of hard still cheese wasnt melted they added a bunch of beans to it and there spice just was weak.lenwood way better

The Mexican food is amazing! Went to the Platas on Fort Irwin Road. The owner is the nicest man in such a great mood, smiling and soo helpful answering food questions and the cooks make awesome food. I wish I had taken pictures of the food and the place. It is not a fancy place at all. Definitely comfortable, other customers are easy going and easy to talk too. Clean tables, beautiful piñatas hanging for sale, small area of gift items and great food. Definitely a local favorite!!

My family has been going here for 30 years and I can honestly say this is the best Mexican food Ive ever had. Everything from their chips and salsa to their zucchini burritos are absolutely delicious. They put so much care and effort into every meal that its consistently perfect. Their employees are really friendly and seem happy to see every customer. And their prices are very fair.Going here is almost a family tradition at this point. Seriously, I cant recommend it enough.

The portions are more than plentiful and they don’t short change you of food. For real Mexican food that tastes good, and is cooked right, Platas is the place to go. Take this from someone who was passing through town and ate at 4 other Mexican restaurants in town. They don’t come even close. If you go anywhere else you will be disappointed!

Very good tasting food. The prices are very reasonable and depending on how big your stomach is and of course depends on what you order you usually have enough food to eat and save for your next meal. U get a lot of food. I like to get the egg, cheese, potato and bacon burrito and it takes me 2 separate times to eat the whole thing. Way to big to eat all at once.

I swear this is the best Mexican food on the planet. Prices are about what youd expect from an average restaurant. The food is amazing though! Food is good, but pricey for what you get. I bought 9 bean and cheese/potato cheese burritos (that were the size of frozen burritos) plus an order of nachos for a get together and it cost over $30. I dont remember the one in Lenwood being this expensive or the portions being this small but at least they tasted really good.

Great carne asada. Shredded beef could use more flavor, but what flavor it has is good. Salsas are amazing. Worth buying and bringing home. Chips were great and made fresh. Beans and cheese are great. Styrofoam plates, plastic forks. They sell pinatas and other party supplies.

But Evey chance I ever get I to Platas. Its nothing fancy. But I prefer good Mexican food thats the real deal then a fancy place. And Platas is all That! Platas is hands down the best authentic Mexican food in the area. I live an hour away and make the drive just to come to the Ft. Irwin Rd restaurant. They have an extensive menu with additional menu items printed on paper. I usually order the shredded beef tacos that never disappoint. The meat is tender and flavored perfectly. We have also had the enchiladas. The red sauce in them is divine...full.of flavor that compliments the cheese.....and I usually do not care for red sauce. Flautas and taquitos always crispy and tasty. The breakfast burritos are big enough to share. In fact, we always order different items to share. Oh, and they make their own tortillas on site. The chips are complimentary. I love the crispiness and thickness and there is always several salsa options...I will always return to Platas when I crave Mexican food.

I love platas! Especially this one free salsa and chips, yummm!! I highly recommend the potato tacos, potato burrito, shredded beef tacos, elotes (they will do it in a cup if you ask), pretty much anything on the menu is delicious. Staff is always friendly! They will also grill a Chile for you if you ask. Would recommend if you’re in a mood for good Mexican food.

The carnitas and Chile Verde were outrageous. The fresh made tortillas were fantastic. The price is reasonable. A meal at a fast food burger place for my family is $40. Our meal at Platas was $35 and we had a burrito left over to take on the road.Definitely a good stop on the way back from Vegas.

The Best Mexican Food! I have eaten at Platas for 45 years. I remember your parents store in Lenwood and had the three bean and cheese burrito special... my dad would take my brother, sister and I In this huge water truck to water trees on some land he just bought.. he would always stop by and get us our 3 bean and cheese burritos. Just think this was a hang out in high school and 3 bean and cheese (hot). Their food is consistant from the hot sauce to thier all meat pork burrito and the best place for all year round Tamales.
