Did a four day girls trip to Napa and our wine tour with platypus was one of the highlights of it all. Our guide Luis was fun, informative and friendly, we really appreciated that he personally picked the wineries we went to and they were all smaller family run Amazing places. Highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a fun social afternoon away from the big commercial wineries.

Our guide Andy ensured we had a fun day out exploring some Sonoma vineyards. His extensive knowledge about wine making and the local area meant we left feeling really well informed. And we had extensive tastings at each vineyard we stopped at with great explanations from the hosts. The bottles we purchased throughout the day have made it safely back to New Zealand. A highly recommended fun day out.

This is the best of the best wine tour! I would highly recommend!!! Make sure to call them directly to book and ask for Kyle Stoner to be your guide! He was the best!!!! He was very friendly and made our touring so much more fun! There were 12 of us total in the group and boy did we get lucky! We were all friends by the end and even met up for dinner afterwards! What a wonderful experience!!!!

This is the ONLY way to take a group on a wine tour! We had 9 people for my daughter’s bachelorette party, and not only did they decorate the club style shuttle for us, but they stayed in constant communication, Allison answered all questions promptly, chose 3 GORGEOUS wineries in North Sonoma for us based on our preferences, and provided the most perfect guide for our group, Kyle Stoner. He took photos for us, played our music and joined in with the sing-a-along, brought an extra cooler for our drinks in addition to the water they provided, took care of us at each winery, got us the best seatings and kept us on schedule without ever rushing us. The box lunch Platypus provided was delicious and more than enough food — I second the accolades for the quinoa salad. Had 2 pescatarians in our group and their lunch was delicious as well. Kyle also advised us on the best way to handle our wine purchases and provided a box for checking 12 bottles in as luggage. AND they all made it home with no breakage. Really, HIGHLY recommend contacting them to customize YOUR tour. Just sorry we only did a one day 6 hour tour — multiple days would have been even better!

Highly recommend Platypus Wine Tours! We toured Napa with James and he went above and beyond!He was very engaging, full of stories and history of the area; smoothly navigated all the planning and logistics (the vineyard selection, the schedule, hauling of wine, water, and lunch, etc.); and there was a lovely camaraderie/sense of community between James and the wineries we visited. And where we went was wonderful as well - all small, family-owned and operated; the staff were very passionate and attentive; the wine was great; and it felt like wed gotten way more than a standard tasting experience at each of the 3 spots.Not to mention, we took a more expensive tour in Sonoma the next day that paled in comparison... so were definitely booking Platypus again the next time around!Thanks James & the Platypus Team for an amazing experience in Napa! Were already planning our next trip back!

We did two wine tours with Platypus; Napa with Luis and Sonoma with Rob. We had a blast on both tours! We would have happily done their north Sonoma tour if we had another day. It was our first visit to wine country and such a comfortable way to see small wineries, learn about the wine and meet the people who work in the industry. We met really great people at the wineries and on the tour too. Already planning our next trip and we will book again with Platypus!

My husband and I did two tours, one in Napa and one in Sonoma. We loved the small wineries, the owners and their stories. It was a small group that allowed you to get to know one another and ask as many questions as you desired. The small van drivers, Steven and Tony, were very knowledgeable and added to the fun experience. We would highly recommend Platypus tours!

We had 7 of us booked for a 2 day driving tour. They assigned Kyle Stoner to be our driver/guide. Kyle is the best! He was very knowledgable and got us to where we had to go on time! He had great suggestions for picnic spots and coffee stops etc. He even color coordinated the 2nd day and wore floral for us. He was a great photographer and knew the best spots for photos. Would definitely use Kyle and Platypus wine tours again!

My fiancé and I had a really nice time on the wine tour bus with our driver, Kelly. It was great to have the wineries picked out for us and not having to worry about driving ourselves. Kelly was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed listening to her history. The wineries she picked were all great, and were spread over north & southern parts of the valley to get an inclusive experience. The discounted tasting at the wineries was a great perk and I felt that we got a great value for the tasting.

Ive been on multiple Platypus wine tours and each one has been excellent. Our most recent tour guide, Steve Hunter, was wonderful. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared a wealth of information about the Napa region and its wines. As always, the lunch provided was delicious and they even offered a gluten-free option for me. We will definitely continue to use Platypus for our wine tours and recommend them to our friends and family!

My mom and I had an amazing time time Jason on the Platypus tour of the Napa Valley. Jason was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable without being pretentious. We visited three family owned wineries, tasted fabulous wine, enjoyed the incredible scenery, and had all our questions answered. I would recommend Platypus to anyone visiting the area and would definitely do another tour if I returned!

The group was small and we all became friends by the end of the day! I loved going to small wineries owned by families instead of seeing corporate wineries. This is the best way to tour wineries in my opinion. It was so easy and you don’t have to worry about planning an itinerary, finding lunch, or driving - Platypus does it all! The group setting was also very fun and made the tastings that much more enjoyable. Everyone got along great and the day went by so fast. Our tour guide, Chris, was also very fun and knowledgeable. We also loved that we got to visit some smaller, less-known family wineries that we probably would have never discovered otherwise.

Highly recommend Jared as your driver. This was an impromptu reservation because we did not want to spend a lot of money on a personal driver. Jareds choices of the three small wineries were very unexpected and the experience was more than we expected. The wine was great but the personal experience with each winery was amazing. Wineries were Ru Vango, Buhman and Hagafen.

We visited three small family owned wineries in Calistoga and bought a bottle or two from each (Tedeschi, Varozza and Madrigal). I’d definitely recommend the tour. Platypus tours was amazing. A nice bespoke wine tour experience that takes you to nice wineries off the beaten path. Our guide and driver, Luis, was fantastic - a font of wine and local information, and his choices of wineries were fantastic. Wineries you probably wouldn’t choose if you were going on your own, and we got the VIP experience at each place. Also, we bought four bottles and got our tasting fees comped at 2/3 wineries. Highly recommended! And the small group we were with were lovely. Avoid the wine train and do this instead. Way better experience.

Ive been on two Platypus tours now, and both were fantastic. Rob V interacted with all the clients on the tour, and was obviously well acquainted with the area and the wineries. I love that we get taken to some of the lesser known vintners so we can learn more about their history and how the various wines are made. Keep up the good work!

I recently planned a trip for 14 to Napa and used Platypus Wine Tours for our 2 days touring wineries. This was the first trip to Napa for most, and Alison did an amazing job planning 2 fantastic days for us. She built us a customized schedule with a mix of large wineries like Cakebread, and smaller, more personal experiences like Tres Sabores. Jason was our driver both days and provided us a great experience, including his music playlists which always had a theme and matched the experience we were going towards. Overall, I cant recommend Platypus enough for creating a very unique and memorable experience for our group!

From booking to drop off, Platypus Tours did an amazing job of coordinating, informing, and conducting our join-in tour! Their concern for dietary issues captured and executed without flaw. When traffic slowed our pickup (by only 5 minutes), both the office and driver contacted me! Our driver, Rob, was cheerful, professional, informative, and just a delight to spend the day with. The U-shaped seating in the motor coach created customer interaction, and Rons icebreaker was perfect to get us going. When you are in Napa, leave the driving to Platypus Tours and enjoy the entire day with family and friends.

We had such a great time with Luis on our Platypus tour of Napa. Great selection of tasty wines! We ended up getting bottles from all three of our stops. Being able to chat with the winemakers was really cool and the tour itself was a relaxing and engaging experience. We had really fun co-tasters and while the tour was mellow, we were never bored. Awesome Napa weather complete with a picnic lunch and my group was very happy. Will definitely start making it a Napa tradition to set aside one day for Platypus

We have been on multiple tours with Platypus and cant compliment them enough. All of our drivers have been very knowledgeable and the wineries have been second to none. We appreciate going to smaller wineries (many family owned) versus the larger wineries that you can find in most liquor stores. What a perfect day! Was picked to right from our hotel and Dave took us to some great wineries! We were a group of 10 and we all had so much fun! Dave had so much knowledge about the region and answered so many questions! Lunch was simple but wonderful! I couldn’t eat it all so was going to eat the leftovers for dinner but forgot them in the cooler!My husband is blind and Dave was great! Very accommodating!If I ever get back they said they have my information on file and would make sure we got different wineries! I messaged my mom and said let’s plan a girls trip!

We had a wonderful time on our Platypus Wine Tour in Napa. Our guide Rob was extremely knowledgable, created a fun environment and made sure we got exactly what we needed out of the tour. I let him know we needed help figuring out how to get bottles of wine back home and he went out of his way to hold some wine bags for us proactively before they sold out. The wineries themselves were fantastic and the fact that they were smaller wineries made the tastings feel intimate and informative, not like you are part of the machine that you sometimes feel on larger tours. 10/10 recommend!

Sam is the best guide we’ve had for anything anywhere in the world. He made our Sonoma experience phenomenal and his wealth of knowledge on the region and its offerings is astounding! We learned so much from him.When another wine tour company canceled our trip at the last minute (because they didn’t have enough people signed up to make it worth their while), Platypus was our saving grace. They took us with less than 24hrs notice and we ended up with just one other couple on our tour (the ideal situation). We got to visit three beautiful vineyards/wineries in the area and everywhere we went, it was the VIP treatment! It was like we were traveling with the mayor: Sam knows everybody and is a local celebrity!The lunch provided was stellar (they even had a solid vegetarian option) and the service was impeccable. We got picked up at our AirBnb in the morning and then dropped off at our dinner reservation in the evening. Simplest process.Could not have asked for a better experience. 5 stars all around. The attention that Platypus put into the pre-tour preparation was great. They asked about dietary restrictions and food allergies well before the tour date. The called me and reminded me of the time of pickup the day before. The wine tour day was fantastic. Our guide Steve was excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, and had a great taste in music that he played on the tour bus. The wineries we went to were also top notch. He also recommended and outlined a great day trip for my spouse and I through Sonoma County and up the Pacific coast. I highly recommend Platypus Wine Tours.

We had our tour with Tony, and he was absolutely fantastic! He made sure that we all had a blast, drank great wine, and really cared about all of our experiences. The icing on the cake was my boyfriend actually proposed during the first stop which threw him a curve ball, but he made it so memorable by having everyone on the tour sign a wine bottle at the second stop for a keepsake! I will always recommend them for anyone traveling to Napa for a wine tour.

We litterally just got off a tour with Platypus and even though I have had a bunch of wine I cant say enough about how good the tour was. Our tour guide Louis (yea probably spelled his name wrong)was outstanding. His knowledge of the area and wine was far and beyond the best ever. He was patient and answered all our questions. He took us to off the beaten path of the wineries and all three were great. If you are in Napa I would highly recommend Platypus and if you can request Louis do so you will not be disappointed.

Went solo on my first time in the Sonoma county. From being picked up by the comfy bus ride, to the accommodations through the three wineries, and the tastings received, the quality of the experience was well worth the money. Our guide Stephen, was a Brittanica Encyclopedia of knowledge, as he talked about the scenery, climate, geography and local businesses. He was also gentlemanly and carried all the bought wines for us. Will definitely have to try the North Sonoma County tour for Zinfandels next time.

Platypus Tours was hands-down one of our favorite activities in Napa (and we did a TON)! Our tour guide was Andy and we absolutely loved him. Personally, I feel like we lucked out! We had tours with other companies in Napa and it didn’t compare to this one. Throughout the day we bonded with all of the guests and especially Andy. The bus was clean and we loved how we faced everyone so it forced all of us to get to know each other when in the bus. Also, Andy had cardboard boxes to purchase if we wanted to check wine on the plane, endless bottles of water, and an unlimited knowledge of the area and wine accompanied with booklets he personally put together for his tours. We highly recommend platypus tours!

Our tour guide selected three family wineries for us. At each winery, we were given a lot of great background information along with our tastings. A picnic lunch was served at our 2nd stop. Our guide had lots of water for us - important to hydrate while enjoying the wine.This tour is a great way to explore Napa Valley. You visit wineries you may not discover on your own, and someone else does the driving!Be sure to buy a wine box from your guide. We packed our bottles in the box and checked it as free luggage. Everything made it home intact.

My husband and I had an amazing experience with Platypus Tours. We went on the Sonoma tour, and they picked us up from our hotel. We went to three wineries, all of which were very high quality. This tour was a lot of fun. Our tour guide, Army, was very knowledgeable of the Napa area and pointed out the history of various wineries throughout the tour. The wineries we visited were less mainstream but had very good wines at reasonable prices. Would recommend this tour company.

If you’re looking for a fun wine tour around Napa, this is probably not it. If you’re looking for an informational tour, then you’re in the right place. We were on our honeymoon and looking for a fun tour, so we could explore the wineries. Instead, we were bored and sober. The driver/host was nice and knowledgeable but it felt like she was trying to fill time. The tour lasted 7 hours and we only went to three wineries. Each winery included a lecture on how they made the wine, which was very similar to the lecture we heard at the previous winery. Each time we were able to mingle with the other guests, we were immediately interrupted by the host or the sommelier.The owner gave us a partial refund that was very kind of him.

However I am SO happy that I booked a tour w Platypus (as a package w hot air balloon ride). It was an opportunity to experience some very special wineries with an insider, and we learned so much - a terrific primer before going out on your own.Andy provided us with some delicious cheeses, crackers, bottled water, and a picnic lunch of different sandwiches, salads, fruit, and dessert during or tour, and dropped us off at our hotel after. We had some great people from around the world in it for group, and it was a joy tasting with them.I highly recommend Platypus, and very highly recommend Andy - we will certainly book these tours on our future trips.

Went on a tour January 17. Second time Ive gone with Platypus! They do an awesome job. I had Greta the first time and requested her again this time. She takes you to some of the smaller wineries that you would have otherwise probably never heard of or experience. Very unique places with great wine! Lots of fun! The tour is limited to 10-12 people so it is much easier to have a great experience.

We recently went to Napa for the first time for our one-year wedding anniversary. As it was our first time in the region, we decided to sign-up for a group tour on our first day tasting to get a feel for the region and take advantage of a driving service so that we could relax and enjoy the day. Our B&B highly recommended Platypus, so we decided to go with the recommendation. Karl was our tour guide for the day, and from the first moment we met him we knew we were lucky! He was extremely knowledgeable about the region and each individual winery, set us up at 4 wonderful boutique wineries throughout the day complete with a delicious lunch and amazing cheeses. He was professional, friendly and went above and beyond to be sure we had a great time and were able to taste our favorite wines. Im a Chardonnay lover, and he convinced two of the wineries to allow me to taste their reserve Chardonnays on the house. We had a great day and recommend Platypus to any first-timers or veterans who want a reasonably priced group tour. We will definitely be booking with Karl for a private tour next time were in town!

Amazing tour of some of the smaller Napa wineries. We went during Covid and everything was put together so well. Our tour guide Linda was AMAZING. She was great at everything about being a Napa Valley tour guide- she let us know all about Napa’s origins, facts about how the fires have effected Napa, she knew everything about each winery we passed, and the wineries that we went to were phenomenal. Lunch was also delicious and they took any dietary restrictions or needs I to account. Loved our wine tour with Harvey as our guide! He had called ahead to the wineries and made sure we got fantastic service at each stop. We had delicious tastings and fantastic tours (one that even included a cave tour with barrel tasting) as well as a chocolate pairing at the last stop. We had a fantastic experience with Platypus Wine Tours! We did a private wine tour, visiting 3 wineries in Sonoma. We gave Platypus our price range for tastings and they made the reservations. Our tour guide/driver, Joe was wonderful. He kept us on track timewise, brought a cooler with ice for the picnic lunch we packed, and set up the lunch table at a winery while we were tasting. I planned this for my husbands birthday and Lucy and I emailed several times about what kind of experience we were looking for. The Platypus tour was an awesome experience. We had Mark as a tour guide and he was not only knowledgeable, but entertaining and a real host on and off the bus. The tour went to 1 mid-major brand winery and 3 smaller wineries that really enabled the group to get the one on one experience that we were looking for on the tour. We drove by the major wineries and saw crowds of people and lines all over, so the company definitely chose the right stops. We lucked out with beautiful weather and great people on our tour, but our guide Greg, the small wineries we visited, and the special accommodations Platypus tours made for my gluten free diet were really the icing on the cake! We went on two wine tours while in Napa and did not enjoy the first (Wine Trolley). Scott at Platypus Wine Tours was absolutely AMAZING! His knowledge of wine and fun spirit made our trip. He has a lot of personal connections at wineries, so we were able to get all of our tasting at discounted rates (very discounted). We stopped at a total of 4 wineries, had a delicious lunch, and they had beverages and a cheese plate on the bus. Highly recommend going on this tour, and especially getting Scott as your guide.

I must admit I was a bit reluctant on going on a group tour since I have had some negative experiences in other areas; however, Platypus was top notch.Chris Largent was our tour guide who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on the local area and wineries. You could immediately tell his previous work in the industry came into handy! We went to 4 great wineries that he handpicked. Great diversity and wineries that you probably would have passed on if you did a tour on your own. These were the hidden gems and added a more intimate experience even w/ a group of our size. We joined Platypus wine tours on our anniversary, it was fantastic! More specifically Karl was wonderful, he made the time great and enjoyable. It was nice to be with 10 other people from around the country talking and getting to know everyone. He drove us around to the smaller homey wineries so that the people making the wine and overseeing the wine process could talk with us. However, that wasnt until after he got to know us and see what we all wanted to do. We got such a unique experience at every winery. Karl even requested nice places to eat since it was our anniversary. I have already told all my friends about it and suggested that we go back again soon. We had an amazing time and honestly couldnt have planned it better ourselves. Our tour guide Mark Puleo organized a tour of 4 wineries (Floral Springs, David Fulton, Hopper Creek and St. Claire Brown), all smaller and more family based operations. Each place was unique, beautiful and introduced us to some wonderfully nice people. She is very knowledgeable about wine and wine country. She took us to boutique wineries instead of the more commercialized locations, which made the experience very personal. She prepared an awesome lunch, packaged our purchases (probably in her best interest) and took a bus full of intoxicated jokers with a grain of salt. All around excellent tour. This wine tour group is great! I booked them to tour Napa, and had so much fun. Samantha was a great hostess, and definitely set the bar high. She was accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, and super sweet. This tour group offers to pick you up from your hotel, drive you to 4 different wineries, & provide a good lunch--all for $99/person. Since I live in San Francisco, Ill definitely book this group again and will recommend it to all my friends and visitors.The only caveat to this tour group is that they dont tell you which wineries youll be visiting. Our day with Platypus was one of our favorites across a 2-week Northwest vacation. Our tour guide Lauren was friendly and fun. We were picked up at our hotel right on time, the bus was nice and comfy, and the food provided was delicious! Most importantly, the vineyards we were taken to were excellent. When I was planning our Napa trip, I was pretty overwhelmed by how many vineyards there are, and I felt that I wouldnt be able to find and chose ones that were worth going to. Would highly recommend Platypus Wine Tours. Very efficient, friendly and clear communication throughout the process. We were a family of 4, with a 23 and 25 year old, one of whom doesnt really like wine! So I did have some trepidation about this trip. I shouldnt have worried. Kym our guide was fantastic and helped introductions among the tour party of 12 - we all got on so well that the people at the vineyards had to butt in to say their bit. Kym was an informative guide, was very attentive and really went the extra mile, giving great customer service. We went to 4 different wineries and had a fantastic experience, even the non-wine drinker became a convert.This is a comment about Napa Vineyards, rather than Platypus: Dont expect a new glass with each wine. Only one vineyard gave us a fresh glass with the red wine, the other 3 vineyards gave us 1 glass for all 4-5 wines. This is different to other tastings in Australia and France, where you get a new glass with each wine.

The best decision that we made on our trip to Napa was to follow the advice of our friends who recommended Platypus Tours! We did 2 days of group tours and on our last day we did a private tour. We had an amazing experience on the Napa Valley wine tour with our guide Army. The bus was nice and comfortable, they provided us with plenty of water, and Army was very knowledgeable about the area and about wine in general. For this Sunday tour, Platypus picked us up in San Francisco which was a huge help. Army made the tour both fun and informative. The four wineries we visited were beautiful and, of course, the wine was amazing. Id definitely recommend Platypus!
