After spending three days in the backcountry hiking and camping in Yosemite we decided to get our Mexican food fix here. The food was absolutely amazing!! The food coming out of the kitchen was a work of art. Ive eaten at a ton of Mexican restaurants throughout the country and this by far was one of the best! Excellent service (A little slow to get started but after our order was taken was great! Definitely don’t let it turn you away). Waiter was attentive and friendly. We would definitely eat here again.

Alexander is a helpful and very kind guy. He went above and beyond to assist me in deciding what to order during my dinner. I appreciated his friendly and attentive approach.The tacos 🌮 were good, and the burrito was also enjoyable. While the food wasnt the best Ive ever had, it was decent and satisfying.What truly stood out was the excellent service provided by Alexander.

Best meal I have had! The service was excellent, the food was so well done, and our server, Adrian, was one of the best we have ever had. We are pretty particular and well traveled, and our meal today definitely hit the spot! And, we thought is was all very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!

I stopped in for lunch and was not disappointed.I was greeted immediately and was provided fresh chips and salsa. Both were fantastic, I wish I would’ve asked for a to-go order of just the chips!I ordered three (3) carnitas tacos and a beer. My tacos were packed with meat, flavor and came out hot!My server was attentive, personable and friendly as seemed all the wait staff were for other tables.If the tacos were any indication of how their other menu items taste, this place is worth many more visits in the future.

Food is delicious and authentic Mexican food. Service is great. We dined at the bar, Christian the bartender took our order and us some great drinks. The carnitas are smoked and not fried so you get the great taste of carnitas without the guilt of unhealthy greasy calories. We definitely recommend this place!

My family and I were allured by the restaurant’s posts on yelp but received a mediocre experience. The white girl hosting was nice and communicated nicely about the timing of our table. Can’t say the same for our server Cesar, he was not good, he took our orders and that was about it. Never checked on us once and I had to ask someone to get the check for us, we needed to ask someone else for more water, salt and etc. I’m surprised we didn’t need to find him to order like the table next to us. I understand some places are understaffed but a lot of tables complained while we were there and when we finally got seated we barely received service at all. We got their carne asada which was pretty good, very tender, just a bit salty. However their beans and chicken lacked salt and flavor, not very enjoyable. The guac was fresh but I tasted little cilantro, salt, or jalapeño. The sope dough is very tasty with a satisfying chew and crisp outside. The gordita shells were also nice and crispy although i would’ve preferred the toppings and filling to be mixed so that I’m not eating the topping and meat separately in every bite. I’ve had a lot of birria and the one they served here just had a bizarre flavor so I don’t recommend getting that. the interior is cute although it could’ve been cooler and half the time we were eating the restaurant was hazy from smoke or something which was worrisome. Overall I wouldn’t come back and wished we chose a different spot for dinner.

The food was incredible. The sign caught my eye upon driving by and one place we were going to was close so we decided to try.Ive had Mexican food all over and this was surprisingly one of the best ones Ive had and in Oakhurst of all places.Had the rib-eye tacos which were so tender and flavorful. Melt in the mouth good.Highly recommend.

Walked in without a reservation but the lady at the front of house said that a table would be available in 10 minutes and that we could get drinks at the bar first while waiting. Bartender was friendly and we got the kiwi basil and berry smoky margaritas; the first came really quickly but the second was forgotten until midway through our meal. Both were amazing though and were the highlights of the meal.For starters we had the guacamole (small, very average tasting) and fish tacos (good sauce but thick tortillas and dry fish).Mains were disappointing as well.Pollo en Mole - the mole was watery and lacked depth of flavour and chocolate, and the chicken breasts were absolutely overcooked.Bistec Ranchero - the stir fried top sirloin was okay but nothing to shout about, some tough pieces but alright for 20 bucks.Best thing was the Chile Relleno - a large cheese stuffed pepper, but even then it lacked a certain punchiness.Tortillas were twice as thick as other places in the area. Jambalaya rice was moist and clumpy, probably fried a large batch and left it covered to keep warm. Chips were also extra thick and probably came out of a bag instead of being freshly fried.Service was absolutely terrible, we were forgotten for around 20 minutes after we were seated, and when one server came to us he was so busy that he never checked in even once if things were fine. Appetizers were served together with the mains when we wanted them served as soon as they were ready. We still tipped 18% as it wasnt his fault that they were understaffed, but management needs to look into either reducing the number of seats, or increasing the number of servers. The server apologised for the lack of attention at the end of the meal and took a dollar off one (1!) of the drinks but personally that was more insulting than just doing nothing.Overall, an inauthentic place lacking flavours, catering to White palates, with the worst service Ive ever received in my life in a sit down restaurant. Avoid and drive a couple of minutes more to Ei Cid.

My wife and I are out here in Oakhurst California for work and of course, during our favorite time of the day lunchtime, we like to look around and find good places to eat. We found this place that was close by and we decided to stop in and try the Menudo. Best decision was made so far from being out here. The food was outstanding. The service was outstanding, atmosphere again outstanding. We even got a chance to meet the owner, which was a privilege, we will definitely be back here often during our stay.

Just go here for the dinner already! But please be prepared to wait as they are usually pretty busy. We had amazing service here and they also suggested vegetarian options for us as we are vegetarian. Margarita was on point and enchilada were amazing! All tasted very fresh and authentic including complementary chips and salsa. I loved this place and I will be visiting here again whenever I come back to Yosemite National park.

On its storefront window, it states taqueria, which is very misleading, since what they have to offer is much more than that. I would say its an upscale version of a traditional Mexican restaurant, and with that the prices are somewhat higher too, but so is the quality. They have a full bar, if thats important to you. The food is good, but the service was a little off, maybe next time it will be better.

These people really care about this restaurant. The food is high quality, refried beans are clearly made in house, the balance of flavors in the carnitas tacos I got was perfect. Portion sizes are spot on, we all finished our meals with clean plates. Our server was friendly, helpful, and sociable with our group.This may have been one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.

We walked in at about 7.30 pm and the place was very busy. We were promptly seated. The waiter was excellent. He brought us samples of beer to try out before ordering. We had the carne asada and chicken tacos. The food was excellent. Keep it up guys.

Traditional Mexican food in Oakhurst. This place serves authentic Mexican food. We initially were put on waiting list as the restaurant is extremely busy, however we got the table after 5 mins of waiting. Since we are vegetarians, the server recommended Huarache and salsa verde enchiladas and we decided to try both along with lemonade and margarita. Huarache was a unique dish, loved the flavors, tasted amazing. I have never had an enchilada with green sauce before so was a bit skeptical about salsa verde but I was blown away by the taste and flavors of the enchiladas, simply amazing. We felt that the Lemonade was freshly made and margarita was great. The staff is welcoming and extremely friendly. Last but not the least the salsa given along side chips had a unique taste, I would surely come again to visit this place, a must try.

We stopped in on our vacation, the service was very very helpful to answer all our questions. My wife had the Sope and said it was the best thing she has ever eaten! I had the nachos, I thought it was the best nachos I had ever eaten, the flavor and freshness were amazing. Everything was balanced perfectly. Our children had a bean and cheese taco, which he loved and an order of chicken flautas which were cooked perfectly and were very tasty. We also had the churro cheesecake, and it to was amazing. We were disappointed that we stopped in on our last day of vacation because we would have eaten here many times. Prices were very affordable and portions were as described. Great place!

Coming down from Yosemite we stayed in Oakhurst, so for dinner we chose to eat at Plazuelas and boy are we glad we did. As soon as we tasted their salsa I thought the food was going to be good, but when I tasted their horchata is when I knew this was an authentic Mexican restaurant. I got the chicken mole enchiladas and my girlfriend got the regular red enchiladas and both were delicious. we will definitely be coming back if were ever in the area.

Wow! The food here is delicious and service is wonderful. I had chicken tacos and a lime margarita. Everything tasted so fresh and the margarita was perfectly balanced. We were traveling out of Yosemite and it was the perfect way to end a great trip. This will be my regular stop on the way in or out of the valley.

The first time we ate here, around two years ago, we were impressed with the quality and uniqueness of the dishes we ordered. Since then, we’ve come twice more and that quality has diminished. Every 6 months or so someone I know wants to come here for dinner so i give it a shot, again. I am reminded each time of how much i want this place to be good.I tried the Mole this time, very dry chicken, mild taste and no spice. Maybe i miss the authentic taste of good mole and authentic mexican food should have some spice to it, you can only white wash it so much. Just dont have very high expectations for authentic mexican food and this place will be just fine for you on your vacation. Our waitress was sweet and helpfull, the food came reasonably fast. Parking is good, movie theatre is close.

So glad I discovered this spot! I expected typical tourist trap food but this was amazing and also reasonably well priced for being near yosemite and also in california. We got esquites, chips n salsa, chile relleno, and chicken mole. Everything came out super quick and tasted really good. The Hazy IPA was great. After a long day of Yosemite hiking/sightseeing, this was exactly what my family and I needed for our dinner. Large plaza parking lot. Open, clean, comfortable interior. Friendly staff team that handled a decently busy Thursday evening. We really enjoyed our birra de res and enchiladas (great side of carrots that come with this one). Appreciate the little salads and fruit slices that also came with to complement the main entrees. The only reason why Im docking food to a score of 4 was that the carnitas dish was too salty (granted some of it could be masked when using the soft tortilla wraps provided). Compared to most Mexican cuisine restaurants Ive tried, Plazuelas offers quality of food/ingredients/presentation thats a tier above its counterparts - without breaking the bank. Huge thanks to the team that helped provide a positive dining experience for us that evening. Squares credit card processing system being down that day was a minor inconvenience out of their control. (Theres a Chase Bank ATM literally within walking distance.)

Horrible value, which is very disappointing because the food is decent (slightly under seasoned and a tad bland) and the employees quite friendly. They should not charge the same amount for vegetarian varieties as they do for meat. I paid $20 for two cheese enchiladas, each only 4 inches long. It was hardly an appetizer, let a lone a meal. We’re from south texas and know our Mexican food. So we were shocked to be blown away from how great was the food. The enmoladas were not too sweet and had a nice kick. Sub par food and service.Burrito was $18 and had just a trace of the guac and queso that was and additional charge and it was stuffed with mostly beans and other filler ingredients. Tasted no different than a $9.00 Moes burrito.Quesadillas were average but overpriced as well. Even though the chips and salsa were complimentary they failed to inform us until AFTER we got the bill that they charge for salsa refills after the second request even though the cups were very tiny. Never had that happen before. They also charged for an iced tea refill after the second request.They should inform their customers upfront about these charges since it is not standard to charge for either. So do not recommend and will not return.

My favorite Oakhurst restaurant 😍 the cocktails are literal perfection, especially the Oaxacanite. I’ve tried the majority of dishes on the menu across multiple visits and everything is truly delicious, perfectly seasoned, thoughtfully presented, and generous in portion. The food is clean, fresh, high in quality, and the service is warm and friendly. They work so hard at Plazuela’s and their care shows across their food, restaurant, and service.Highly highly recommend eating here if you are ever in Oakhurst.Favorite dishes: anything with Al pastor, fried fish tacos, any of their special dishes of the day, enmoladas. I could also have a whole bowl of their roasted carrots and potatoes side dish, so good!It is very popular so I advise arriving as early as possible to avoid lines. The food and drinks were great.... The service.. the worst our table had ever had combined. It took us 15min to have our server arrive to our table. We had to flag other wait staff and hostess EVERYTIME, to get our waiter to our table. We had to chase down for a high chair and we had to ask other wait staff to fill our waters when they were filling their tables. We had to chase him down to get the bill, take him the credit card, and ended up having to ask the bartenders for boxes.I hate leaving such low stars bc the food and drinks were great, but that service was astoundly bad.

Im leaving a one star only for the service. We were seated promptly, 1st round of drinks came fast, we ordered the food came quickly. Thats where it ended. Usual protocol in a not so busy restaurant is to come back and check if everything is ok. Not here, my thing is drinks, keep them coming, and you get a huge tip.. we sit with no drinks.. tips are not as generous. if I have to go get my bill, it goes down even more..If it were slammed busy with a wait, I am more understanding. Recently had an experience at Plazuelas that I simply must share. We made an online reservation which, for some reason, didn’t go through. When we arrived and explained our situation, Porfiro, our server, went above and beyond. Not only did he ensure we got seated despite the confusion, but he also provided exceptional service throughout our meal. His understanding, patience, and dedication to customer service turned what could have been a frustrating experience into a memorable evening. A huge shoutout to Porfiro for making our night special. This place is great! Im glad weve discovered it. The menu has a wide variety of choices in addition to their daily specials. I had their special ribeye steak tacos and my husband had the chili verde wet burrito . The servings are huge with plenty of leftovers for the next day!The staff is unbelievably nice and very willing to make adjustments and suggestions to their menu items. While there, a table next to us was frustrated how they were overcharged for some a la carte items as dinner plates and add one. Then the server came over to our table to bad mouth the customer to us. Honestly, after I saw our bill, Id side with the complaining customers. While it seems like they randomly add items to the bill, reality is, their prices are just way too high.

Adorable Mexican restaurant in Oakhurst.Food - so yum, and so unique. Not all your typical dishes, but they do have tacos and enchiladas too! We thought the dishes were not only very thought out, but prepared well.Drinks - we asked for spicy margaritas and our waiter who I guess doubled as the bartender on the slow day made them, and made sure we liked them. Stopped here on our way home from Yosemite. It was very busy. Definitely a popular place in the area. The servers were suuuper nice. I usually dont like shredded chicken in Mexican food because it tends to be dry and bland, but this was moist and lots of flavor. The avocado chunks were huge. They definitely dont skimp. I mean, the burrito is huge too.My son got a cheese quesadilla (pretty much all he ever gets) and he LOVED it. It was also big, oozing cheese. He was pretty mad when his big brother snuck in and ate his leftovers.We also ordered guac. It was just ok. Seemed mostly to be mashed avocado but not much else. Not a lot of flavor to it. The salsa is of the thin runny variety that many Mexican restaurants have. Not a huge fan. I like it thicker. But it wasnt bad. Very mild. The chips were good.I would definitely recommend trying this place out. I am sad that I didnt order the Chalupas! They looked awesome. Ive never seen chalupas anywhere except taco bell. Next time...

I had the chicken quesadillas and my husband had Carne Asada tacos both were delicious and full of meat and cheese. Everything was juicy and had perfect seasoning. I found out the hard way that its really common for servers to say just need your signature and being a touch drunk I forgot to tip initially. Short version: food was ok, service was subpar. Went for Monday eve dinner (5:30). Seated quickly then waited almost 10 mins for server to come to table. Very good food very good. I had a shrimp 🍤 plate 🍽 dont remember the name . Ots the first meal on the seafood part of the menu. Anyways the sauce served on top was absolutely 💯 phenomenal spell authentic Mexican food mom of the store is responsible for the food (her recipes i believe).

Food is authentic, service is great, we love eating here every time we visit home! You wont regret dining here. Large variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non, and the food is excellent! Sauces are flavorful and not overwhelming. Definitely a local favorite as well 🙂

My best friend and I got takeout from here tonight and we both agree this was the best Mexican food we’ve ever had. Carne asada super burrito changed my life. Give them all the Michelin stars. Gordon Ramsey would love them. I want them to cater my wedding. In all seriousness go here it’s so good.

I visited this restaurant after hiking up Yosemite Vernal Falls. I was impressed by the food, decor, but most importantly the high quality of service. Our server, Ceaser, was attentive and made sure our chip baskets stayed full until our tacos arrived. I would highly recommend this location to anyone who enjoys great food!

I love the food...but one of the great pleasures of having great Mexican food is a lovely margarita. As soon as they started serving one we rushed to have it. It was tiny. And lacking a good tequila punch. And a bit pricey given the former two. On the plus it was super fresh...like their food. They obviously make it in house, and it shows.

Anything you order is fresh and delicious. I absolutely love the chips and salsa! They also carry a wonderful coffee which is delicious plus wines and beers. I love the carnitas marinated and serve with red sauce. One of the best places to eat.

The owners here are very kind and respectable! They take precautions and respect all the laws taken in place during this time such as wearing masks, wiping down tables with cleaner when someone is done, and also social distancing. Best chips in town, by far! I had the shrimp ceviche, which was a special, and it was incredible! So fresh and such an amazing sized portion. I usually get their carne asada tacos a la carte, and you can really never go wrong with that choice. The rice is so fluffy and yummy, too! Very glad we have a great Mexican restaurant in our little town of Oakhurst!

Went in got a super burrito and a quesadilla. Food was great and the staff we interacted with were all very nice. Feel bad for not being sure about his name but our servers name started with a C might have been Carlos. If January 13th means something to them then that is the server. One of the best Mexican restaurants Ive been to, and Im from SoCal. The burritos are cheap and large enough to share, and all the of the food is of great quality. The staff is very personable and do a great job getting your order and keeping your drinks filled, even though to tiny place is often busy.

Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant! Delicious, authentic Mexican food. Homemade tortilla chips and corn tortillas are delicious, the food was excellent, service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
