Always the friendliest of employees. liLiving so close by (off base) this would be my grocery store of choice! They have everything I need in my basic grocery list. (I cant find exact ethnic sauces BUT thats okay).Super clean. Restroom is always clean! Check out is smooth. Many grocert carts so no fighting for them. After my second c section I needed a scooter and they were soo sweet to let me use the one in the store to stroll around❤️Hands down, our Fav commissary !

I don’t know how this place has won awards of any kind.. they never have chicken and they have a lot of expired items always check the dates before buying because it’s likely to be expired! Hopefully one day they’ll actually have different cuts of chicken besides wings.

We shop here weekly. the price of meats are great. But we NEVER buy their produces anymore because of the poor quality. they get molded so quickly (in a few days most of the time) or already molded when it’s displayed.

I visited 3 weeks ago and again yesterday. Prices are great, stock availability is excellent and the store is really clean. The only negative is having to bag my own groceries- but that’s all because of the coronavirus.

Thankful for the commissary. They are a small commissary. They do carry most things youll need. Sometimes the produce doesnt last. The vitamin section is nice and carry some items not found other places. The meat section is nice and inexpensive. The store overall is clean and well stocked. You will need to grab a basket before you go inside. They only have carry baskets inside. They also carry beer and wine. Check prices sometimes exchange is cheaper.

When I visit my daughter I love to go to the commissary. Back home my closest one is 250 miles away 😥 There is always a great selection of produce and meat. I love the gluten free options available as well. The Commissary is ALWAYS clean and that to me is HUGE!

Decent commissary. Average sized grocery store. Not comparable to a Whole Foods or Harris Teeter, but on par with a basic Kroger or Safeway. Much lower prices though.Why do the baggers still work for tips‽ And why don’t they accept Apple Pay for their tips (who still carries cash)‽ I’m reduced to just thanking them, since I’ve stopped carrying cash.

NO RESPECT TO THOSE SERVING. OR HAVE SERVED. So you charge a surplus. Then you make the bag so thin you need to double or triple them and you make us bag our own groceries ---what the health???How can you treat the people who fight for freedom and safety - the blessed underpaid military -how do you treat them with half empty shelves --products that arent coming in why you give it to Hawaii or San Diego some bigger naval base? Thats not fair most of the people shopping here and living here on base they dont have an opportunity to go somewhere else and quite frankly they should have the best prices!!!! They should be able to get things for less money than outside the gate not for more and they should have a selection -not empty shelves- very disappointed to see how the commissary is treating this location Ventura .:(

On a scale for commissaries, this one is only okay. The prices are good, but their selection is horrible. Granted, I was an Army wife throughout my exs full career so Im used to those commissaries which are about 2-3 times the size of these Naval ones (my current husband is retired Navy, its just a coincidence theyre both military). The one thing that irritates me is the way they have it organized. Its nearly impossible to find anything! I dont know who designed it the way that they did, but in all my years, I have never seen cooking oils stored next to condiments. Theyre always, always, ALWAYS in the cooking aisle. The canned vegetables are very limited and are on the first aisle, which is also rare. Its just designed all wrong! I found myself zig-zagging through the store because I didnt find what I expected to find in one place vs the place where I actually found them. I once had a problem with never finding pork cutlets and I asked a butcher who then said hed have one paged for me and naturally they never showed and the other one disappeared. Also, Im not sure why sliced mushrooms appear to be banned. There are just a lot of annoyances I have with that place that makes me dread going. Still, its a commissary. One luxury is the air-conditioning. The commissary I was forced to shop at in the 80s was at Ft. Sill, OK. That commissary was 3 times the size of this one without air-conditioning. The temperature soared to the triple digits and when I bought Popsicles, they would be melted by the time I got to a register (we had to wait at least 30 minutes when shopping). So... at least Im not having to deal with that kind of thing. It gets 3-stars because its your average commissary.
