Such a quaint, cute spot, very authentic, looking and tasting. We had a wonderful meal. Tried beef and chicken empanadas Also had the lamb dish and reyeno de papa. Service was great 😊

Wow! What an amazing restaurant! We loved the ceviche mixto, the frijole empanada (we want to come back and have an all-empanada meal!), the salmon sudado de pescado, & the steak lomo saltado. Not to mention the pisco sour and red sangria with chicha morada! All delicious, highly recommend

First time in San Diego besides sight seeing places of course i had to find good South American food. Qero has a nice relaxing atmosphere, the peruvian food they have is served with care and passion. We had some delicious meals and the best part was the tres leches cake, which was the owners grandmother recipe. I could have gone for another piece but i also ordered some alfajores (not pictured) so i had to save space for a later treat. Thank you for everything!

I was able to get a table without a reservation, so that in itself is a win. It was early enough, but any later and it would have been a wait. I know people that make reservations days in advance. That being said, the service was great. The food recommendations were fantastic and it was just enough to be able to still enjoy dessert. I hope not to wait another 12 years to return. My favorite is always the chicha morada and the tostones.

I was happy to find an authentic place and different variety of foot on the main Encinitas street, we went on a Sunday evening around 3. No reservation. We enjoyed a table outside around a peruvian ceviche with their special sauce, beans and cheese Empanadas l took a Chicha drink to try. A delicious culinary experience and very faaast service😃 money wise between $$ and $$$.l will come again to try more things

Wonderful food! Really friendly staff, comfortable street side patio with patio heaters. Interior restaurant is warm and inviting with a nice market of Peruvian items for sale. The meal brought me right back to a past trip to Peru! The chichamorada was delicious. We shared the arepas and the QEro salad as appetitzers. The QEro salad was a phenomenal combination of flavors and textures. I had the Lomo Saltado, which was fantastic, delicious, savory, great sauce. The others at the table enjoyed the Aji Gallina, the seafood special, and a combination of empanadas. Nanas Tres Leches cake was a fantastic finish to a lovely meal!

Tried to eat here for lunch and we were made to feel like an inconvenience, once we were seated we were ignored. We ended up leaving to another restaurant. Do not recommend! I will add that we were the only guests inside the restaurant, the staff and manager were more concerned on their t-shirt placement against the wall.

We walked in, they stared at us like we did something wrong. My Wife broke the awkward silence by saying, hi. He said, for two? We were seated. He poured us water. There was nobody else in the place (with the exception of employees.) We sat for ten minutes watching these employees walk back and forth, ignoring us, talking amongst each other, particularly about selling t-shirts. We eventually got up and left, and they didnt try to stop us. Its a shame we didnt get to try the menu- shame on you, that is.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is amazing. The staff is great. Cool ambience. You have to go here. If you’re a foodie, you’ll appreciate the effort put into their dishes. The ceviche is hands down some of the best I’ve ever had, empanadas are fresh and ridiculously good. I had the flank steak entree on a bed of chard and sweet potatoes. Couldn’t be happier. Make a reservation, the secret is out.

I am Peruvian and this restaurant has a very bad Peruvian seasoning. I ate the worst lomo saltado Ive ever eaten in my life, seasoned in such a strange and DIFFERENT way. So if you expect to eat Peruvian, this is definitely the place you SHOULD NOT go. It was disappointing. In the same way, aji de gallina, chicha morada, all not very tasty :(

We had the Aji de gallina, sudado de pescado and the plantains to start. The food is always amazing here and its our favorite place for a date night. The Tres leches cake is my absolute favorite thing on the menu and I get it for every special occasion. Highly recommend

This is, the best restaurant in the SD area. Every birthday and anniversary are celebrated here. The empanadas have a crumbly crust that reminds me of shortbread, paired with the special orange sauce...can’t be beat (All are amazing but my favorite is the vegetarian lentil). Hidden gems: THE SANGRIA, GET IT, also the caramelized plantains. The shortbread dulce de leche cookies are FANTASTIC. And wow, the Tres Leches cake tastes incredible, like a chilled melted-vanilla-ice-cream-soaked cake. Everything here is lovely. The staff is lovely. Don’t pass up a chance to visit Peru without leaving Encinitas.

I went for the first time and had the Vegetarian, cheese and onion, and bean & cheese empanadas. All were great, and very different than I usually am use to. The sevice was great, the location is very small, prices are very good. The menu is also very small, I would have liked more options but the food that I did order was amazing, so cant complain. I am definitely going to come back for more empanadas and ceviche.

I had calamari diabla, or its called something like that, as well as a paloma. Both were excellent, and soooo much calamari! Its not fried and doesnt come with any rice so Id recommend getting a side, though my partner was willing to share some of his with me. Soooo good, new favorite place in Encinitas.

The food is outstanding! Service is good, but confusing. Atmosphere mixed.Baffled why Qero accepts the Synergy discount dining card. First time eating there a few weeks ago. Change was given in the form of a Qreo giftcard. Went back today to use the giftcard and another smaller Synergy card. Got the okay upfront to use both. Seems only the giftcard was actually applied to the bill. After too much back and forth and having to use credit card for excess amount, ended up not leaving a tip. Felt bad about that. Owner needs to drop use of Synergy.

Service was good. I actually was looking for a Peruvian restaurant in San Diego. I read reviews and unfortunately I dont think this is an authentic Peruvian restaurant. I order ceviche and it was too dry for my taste. No potatoes (what?) but banana chip on the side. Papa rellena was okay. I am not sure if I would try this place again.

Been going here for years. One of my favorite restaurants. Completely authentic. Please support them! Im always terrified that being a small biz owner theyll go away. But you can buy their wonderful sauce there. And all the food is wonderful. I love the Sangria. And every year around Thanksgiving they make these amazing turkey stuffed empanadas you pre-order and they are wonderful! Love this place. Real Peruvian food!!!

Although small, the restaurant has a cute Peruvian decor. However, my most favorite Peruvian dish is the aji de gallina and I was so disappointed that this dish was not at all what I expected. The aji de gallina I have had in the past is made with aji, the yellow Peruvian pepper that bleeds yellow when cooked, so the sauce is a smooth, creamy yellow sauce with a distinct, delicious flavor that flows over the chicken. The aji de gallina I had here did not have a sauce. It was just moist, shredded chicken that was unseasoned. The beef empanada was fine, meaty and very full, good dough, although it definitely was under seasoned--not much flavor. The alfajores, although a little smaller than Im used to, were very good. 2 stars for the decor, the full empanadas, and the alfajores.

The food and flavors here are great, but on our last visit a few things stood out that werent so good.Theres a hidden 5% service charge added to tickets (you dont see it unless you ask for an itemized receipt as they dont bring you the ticket).More egregiously, we ordered a drink that turned out to have added sugar (which was not listed on the menus ingredients). My wife cant have added refined sugar but detected it after one single sip. The server said that was too bad and couldnt do anything about it as my wife had taken a sip. One of the best places I have eaten at in a while. This place is quiet compared to the surrounding restaurants. The food was amazing and I will be a returning customer! The aroma of the resteraunt, inside or out, was the only reason we stopped. The staff is unique in my opinion. They are very welcoming and it feels wholesome instead of trained to act professional. I would say it is pricey, but I am not the best to judge prices here in California because I am not from here. I think everything is expensive. You do get a lot of food for the prices as well. A great find! My friend and I stumbled across this restaurant while walking by. I love the feel of the place. We ordered cheese empanadas to start with, they were excellent! My entree was a salmon plate. It was good, but the sauce was a little salty for my taste. Also, I think the service needs some work. Next time I go, Ill be sure to try other things.

Tried a variety of things including 3 different Empanadas: frijoles, queso, & pollo, Calamari diablada, Maduros, Lomo saltado, & Sudado de pescado. Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend getting a few dishes & sharing everything so you can try a bunch of stuff. Im typically not a fan of calamari but I really enjoyed their version.

No Saltenas! Came here recently as they were selling Saltenas. Amazing! Having been to Bolivia on a vaca with fam I fell in love with this dish. I asked them if they truly have Saltenas, and stated Yes, but what I got was an empanada, which was good but not nearly what a true Saltenas feels, looks, and taste like. If you are going for Saltenas, then please look else where. You will be disappointed. No Saltenas, not even close. Everything else is good.

I had a dish that had cuts of flank steak, tomatoes, fries and onions with a side of white rice. The flavors were rich, the meat tender and just overall a good experience. I dont like leaving reviews in fact this is my first review for a restaurant. This restaurant is not the greatest. First time the husband and I went to eat there, they were super slow; the server was a lady super rude. Second time we went there, it was super slow and once again we waited 3 hours and we had to leave without eating. If you dont mind waiting 3 hours to eat your meal this restaurant is ok. The food is not the greatest either. If you really want to try really good Peruvian food go to Liberty Station..there is a small Peruvian restaurant super authentic. Qero should tell the customer from the beginning the wait is long so the customer can be prepared.

Our first time eating Peruvian food. It was tasty and fresh. The menu is a but smaller, but the offering is complete. There is a good variety for everything from the vegetarian to the meat eater. The empanadas are big and worthy of sharing. We had the chicken, ground beef and short rib variants and all were very good, very fresh, and very authentic (coming from an Argentine who grew up on empanadas). The seating is limited so that makes life a bit tougher, but we were seated in less than 15 minutes on a Thursday night at 7pm.

Im not a Peruvian food expert, but I have had a few experiences with their cuisine. The food here is delicious. Although it may seem the entrees are limited to a basic set of 4 dishes, the variety in other areas of the menu is very good. The vegetarian lentil+ empanadas were excellent. The main meals were tasty. I got mine with quinoa which was also excellent. Finally we got the tres leche cake for dessert, which was the best one Ive ever had. Finally the service was good, and the people working there clearly care about introducing their patrons to Peruvian cuisine.

When the plate was delivered to the table it was picture friendly but what first came to mind was why is it so small? for $18 Id expect more. The shredded chicken was tender and plentiful but the sauce was kind of bland and the walnut taste shined through the dish more than Id like. I do appreciate texture, small pieces of walnut in the sauce, but it was too walnut-ish. I wasnt too thrilled with my consumption and packed up the rest for left overs in which I ate some but wasted the rest. The waiter was obnoxious, loud, pretentious, controlling, not Peruvian, and added a 20% tip for himself without telling us. One of our friends was served after everyone else had finished eating. Turns out this restaurant is changing their spin on things such as menu and moving to a casual dining spot for walk-ins only. Just received a call from the restaurant letting me know they were canceling our reservation for May 30th. Wonder why they didn’t just honor existing reservations and alert us to menu item changes? Seems like a strange approach. When asked if I wanted to be included on the mailing list, I declined. Lots of amazing options for dining in this town. I’ll skip this one for now.

This Peruvian food restaurant had some GREAT food. I have tried other Peruvian food and this one has to be in the top two. I highly recommend making a reservation because this place is packed in the evening, especially on the weekend.I dont have any complaints except that the price seems to be steep. I took my wife there. We have eaten at many restaurants on the 101 strip in Encinitas and its one of the higher priced places to eat. However, try it out for yourself. The food is memorable.

Everything we tried was excellent, down to the wine, and the Tres Leches dessert was just wonderful!The help was friendly and attentive, and Carmen came out to talk to us and to make sure we were satisfied with everything, which we were. Very short menu not very authentic and as I finished dinner with my wife and left a tip of $$20 on a $57 tab the waiter had the nerves to ask is to leave the minute we paid. He said that they had people waiting they actually had 3 4 person tables open and 1 2person table open.I have never been thrown out of a place in my life, I actually am very welcome in the restaurants I go to because I spend money and always tip at least %30. I own a restaurant my self. Shame on you.

I hate to leave reviews like this and I rarely if ever do leave reviews. But coming from a Peruvian who lived and Peru and continues to eat at Peruvian restaurants weekly, please do not come to this restaurant. It is over priced, and not true to Peruvian food whatsoever. The lomo saltado (Peru’s arguably most famous dish) was very bland and the ceviche was too fishy for ceviche. The calamari was way too salty and the rice was bland (garlic rice). Now again I’m sorry to leave a review like this but this restaurant is a disgrace to Peru and it’s ever enjoyable food.

After reading positive reviews, I went to this place with high expectation. However, I encountered the worst treatment and service. We waited for an hour, asked the status of my order (since other customers that arrived after me were served), I was told that my food was next. The waitress not only brought the wrong dish, but argued that it was the dish I ordered. And to prove her point, she brought out an order list that belongs to other table. She went to the extreme of shoving the food on my face and kept insisting it was my order regardless of the fact that the correct 2 entrees (we ordered) were not even prepared. We left this place completely disappointed, hungry and upset!! With service by waitress like that, I will never recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!!!

I have never in my life regretted going to a restaurant so much. I felt like we paid a fortune for nothing. The portions are so tiny that they are hardy enough for a child. I am not a big eater but after spending $80 we got out hungry. THey charge $12 just for the pastry that they serve - nothing special. the food itself is ok but again WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for the type of restaurant it is. It is Peruvian place - not a luxury french royal restaurant, so the ambiance and environment is traditional, nothing of luxury that they might be charging for.

This place may be the best restaurant in San Diego, its definitely one of my favorites. Ive been here many times and every single time the food is phenomenal. The ceviche is probably the best Ive had in San Diego, the short ribs are incredible and the aji de gallina is one of my favorite dishes on the menu. Ask for a side of aji panca sauce to go with it. The place is pretty small and you wont be able to get in on weekends without a reservation, fyi, as it only holds around 30 people in total.

Don Cucho ceviche would be the icon ceviche, but forget about it, nothing out the world. The fantastic idea to serve Chicha Morada, in the actual KERO, looks very unique.

First of all I want to clarify that Im originally from Peru, and my family and I just been visiting my family couple of days ago before celebrating Mothers Day in this so call PERUVIAN RESTURANT!We order Peruvian Chinese rice (arroz chaufa), the rice was over cook and sticky, there was not enough soy sauce and no flavor what so over, there was no ginger or sesame seed oil which gives good flavor to the original Peruvian Chinese rice. Second dish we order Jalea, which i fired fish, calamari and shrimps topped with onions; let me tell you that if the restaurant is close to the beach the fish should taste fresh, which it didn’t, to top that the waitress which was not Peruvian neither any of the staff and it wouldnt surprise me that the chef was from another country, offer us aji panca which is a type of spicy pepper to deep the fish, the waitress came back with chipotle sauce, really! chipotle is Mexican not Peruvian. I order the chicha morada which is purple corn juice, it didnt have any sugar or flavor. I will definitely NOT COME BACK to this place. As a Peruvian I dont like that other clients think they are tasting Peruvian food which in fact is not even close. There are so many good Peruvian Restaurants out there with great taste, Qero is NOT Peruvian. To call yourself a chef at least know how to make rice with flavor and does not stick. We just moved to California and I hope we find a good Peruvian restaurant here. Until then I will not go there again.
