Craving for ramen and decided to try Ramen Hajime. Ramen was delicious, serving size was perfect. Broth was rich and yummy. I wish there was more meat variety to choose from for the ramen. My bf cant eat pork so we asked for chicken. Waitress brought breaded chicken dumplings for him on the side. So his miso ramen didnt have any chicken in it. It seemed like waitress understood our request but it wasnt what we asked for. My bf was a dissapointed. We never bothered to ask what happened. Didnt want it to be awkward. Just figured they didnt have sliced chicken. Sushi was ok. A little too sweet. We ordered shrimp roll. Also dissapointed they dont have the Hirata buns anymore. Overall, service was great minus the breaded chicken dumplings on the side.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon (2 pm) and it was not too crowded. It was about a 5 min wait to be seated. The decor is simple but nostalgic for any Anime/manga fans out there.Now the food.... Drumroll .... was fantastic! Best Ramen so far Ive had in the OC. My husband and I loved it and have now flagged it as a definitive come back to in the future.We had the following:Butter Corn Miso Ramen with Kale noodlesKakuni DonWasabi Shotu Ramen with Kale noodlesChasyu DonHakutsuru (drafted) SakeNote 1: The Kale noodles are da bomb! This was our first time trying it out and dare I say, these noodles were better than regular noodles. Highly recommend trying them out.Note 2: I typically am not a fan of dry sake since its typically too bitter for me but the Hakutsuru was actually very refreshing.

This was the best ramen I’ve ever had in my life! The key here were the noodles. Hand made from scratch and taste absolutely amazing. We tried the house Tonkatsu and butter corn Tonkatsu ramens. Both were fire and everything about the broth and noodles were perfection.Also tried the Chasu Don rice bowl and Crunchy roll. The chasu was cooked perfectly to the right tender taste.The price at this place was also a steal! So much food for how much you pay!Would definitely recommend to anyone in the OC area.

The ramen was great! The noodles being made in house from scratch has a lot to do with it. Danny was very attentive, making sure we had a great experience for our 1st time visiting this Ramen House. One of our favorite things to do while traveling is to experience local establishments and dishes, compared to other areas or cities. I prefer more Base to noodle portions, adding my own touches Spices, garlic, bean sprouts etc.) to the final taste, but Ramen Hajime IS a place I would visit again if I was in the Orange county area again.Thanks for a great experience Danny!!

This place is so good. I got ultra spicy (level 3 of 4). WARNING. ITS HELLA SPICY. Luckily my wife doesnt eat much, so I was able to mix some of her broth with mine because I couldnt handle the spice. Also the cashu is cooked so perfect. Nice crust on the pork. Im definitely going to come here again but order level 2 spice.

Im so tempted to give them a 5 but this is the first Ramen place I have tried. It was really good and I had really good service. We ordered the following: Tonkatsu ramen, Chasyu don rice bowl, Kakuni don rice bowl, Hirata burns, And a crunch roll. The roll was okay but everything else was really good. We will definitely be back here again.

Good place to stop for Ramen!!! The spicy miso ramen was full of flavor, I definitely recommend adding fried onions gives it that extra something. Tempura, buns of pot and shrimp were my favorite! Staff was friendly and had good customer services, was a little hot inside. Would encourage AC or fans to be on at a higher speed, it’s small inside and has tables or booths. Minimal variety of type of ramen, like seafood and also for beer and saki. Overall, I would recommend this place for anyone craving good ramen.

Curry sauce is very good. I’m very picky about curry sauces. I liked that they put fujinsuke in the curry bowl. I tried their kale noodles, very delicious, they tasted like regular noodles. I thought it was very interesting that they have three flavors of noodles. Veggies used for tempura are good, no broccoli 👍. I didn’t like how thick the onion, yam and sweet potato were cut. The tempura batter was really good. I’m very picky about Japanese Ramens. The tonkastu ramen was delicious, I think it had a peanut flavoring added. Interesting. I would have liked the eggs to be cut in half for presentation and ease of eating. We will definitely return when we are in the area. Glad we tried a new place to eat. Service was quick and friendly.

I love this place. Its a small place. The staff is friendly. The price is reasonable. They serve very tasty Ramen. I usually get the Curry Ramen or the Tonkotsu Ramen. My wife loves the Ultra Spicy Ramen. My boys like the Butter Corn Miso. Since the pandemic, they have offered some take out specials. They also are doing Buy one get one half off on their Ramen and rolls. This is a great deal. My boys love the Crunchy rolls. My wife and I enjoy the Shrimp Lovers roll.

We ordered the Tonkotsu remen and Chicken Soup based Ramen. We didnt get to try the colorful noodles as we dont think its flavor would fit into our soup base. The Tonkotsu soup base is not creamy enough; in other words, they didnt cook the soup for long enough. The noodles tastes average and more towards to the hard side. The chicken broth is very salty with only a little bit taste. The ChaShu meat might the the only good item as well as the super nice waiter. Overall, not an authentic JP ramen place to go for but might be a place to try colorful ramen noodle?

Before I say anything in review, I was invited to this resturant in the premise of wonderful raved from a person thru her co-worker, this person too was disappointed and let her coworkers know. So we sat ourselves upon the host/server request. A phone call was then taken and we sat at our tables thumbs twirling for about 5 minutes awkwardly. No menus, no scan bar code, no water. 1 other table was prior sat to us entering and to go orders came in and out 2 to 4 what I counted. Another couple came and sat 1 table over from us. We ordered and my person was so excited to get Ramen and I was along for sushi (not a very big selection). Well, straight to it. The Ramen was terrible per my invitee and she was so disappointed she didnt even finish half and when asked for a Togo box she flat out said No. I felt bad as I ordered 3 rolls and I couldnt even finish 1, normally I can take out at least 6 rolls alone anywhere at sit down sushi. The taste of the sushi was off and the ginger is not the best. Im not sure what happend but I ended up only eating 2 to 3 pieces from each roll and didnt even finish my Ashai beer. *fun fact they dont carry Siracha here only like some spice and oil stuff. All in all I wont knock the 1 girl answering phones, serving etc. 2 cooks 1 bus boy from what i saw. This place yes has some great reviews and this is just my review. I wont be returning, but Im not saying you shouldnt try it for yourself. Others may have a different experience or opinion.

To start off with, the food was good. It wasnt necessarily the most outstanding ramen Ive ever had (and contrary to what our server seemed to believe everyone in my group has had ramen before), but it was tasty and the portions were well worth the price. Unlike some other ramen establishments, there is no specialty ramen unique to this location, so if youre looking for that kind of experience this might not be the place for you.

Best ramen EVER! We live on Maui and have to travel to Oahu to eat good ramen. When visiting California, we stumbled upon this place and will be eating there again and again before we leave. Incredible staff, great service, and the best ramen! Noodles are fresh and delicious, egg was cooked to perfection.

+1 star for the service. Staff was very accommodating.+1 for having a variety of foods and a vegetarian option.+1 for value per dollar terms of both taste quality and quantity. You get a lot of noodles you will leave with an engorged belly.+1 for the atmosphere. It was dark yet well lit in all the right places. Lots of anime love.-1 no umph. Ramen is good but I’m not getting any signature flavor. Something that says this is Hajime ramen and no one else can mimic it.It is definitely above average quality restaurant. Expect to pay $20-$30 per person.

It was a perfect day for ramen, raining outside and Ive been slowly trying all of the ramen restaurants in Orange County, So, naturally I was excited to find one a short drive away. Even more exciting was that they offered a few different bowls and one of my favorites, Tonkotsu.I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with extra menma, corn and a small chasyu don (pork bowl)The chasyu pork bowl was served with what looked like kale and some imitation crab. Good flavor but the pork had an incredibly thick layer of fat on it that I just couldnt chew through. I ended up removing that entire layer and eating the rest of the bowl. +1 for the chasyu bowl.On to my favorite type of ramen, Tonkotsu ramen. Judging by the photos and even the one in my review, I really felt like I was in for some good ramen. It was a late lunch (around 2PM) and I was starving by the time I got here so when I saw and smelled this bowl in front of me I was stoked. Finally, a ramen joint near the house that was worth my money. Unfortunately, the tonkotsu broth didnt hold up. It was on the lighter side of many ramen shops Ive been to and while the flavor was good, I wouldnt order this if youre looking for that rich, milky, fatty broth like Santouka, Umenoya, Mendoki or Tsujita Annex.Tonkotsu ramen is typically rich, full-bodied and it really coats your mouth because of all of that dissolved fat. Many ramen restaurants will boil their broth with bones for two days and change. Its what gives the broth its characteristic milky look when done right. Many ramen joints will add pork back fat for even more richness.Ill probably try them again for one of their other bowls. I enjoy ramen but Tonkotsu holds a special place in my (pork back fat clogged) heart. Looking forward to a different bowl to try here next time!

The experience was amazing. All of our questions were answered and the wait staff was excellent. We are from out of state and they treated us with a lot of respect and even recommended many places to go to make our trip even better. We were not rushed and had plenty of time to look over the menu. The food itself was so amazing it was served hot and was phenomenal. I love this restaurant so much.

We are on vacation and had dinner here tonight. Server was fantastic and food was top notch. We enjoyed his recommendations on the food and the area! Next time were in Anaheim we will definitely eat here. We had the sushi, ramen and teriyaki. All were great taste and quality.

The food is amazing. I’m a huge fan of the ultra spicy soup. Level 2 is the ideal level of spice before it gets too spicy and no longer enjoyable. The few negatives are that that they are understaffed so outside of getting your food, you will not likely be waited on. It might also take some time to get your food. Only once have I not enjoyed the food but the staff did re-do the order for me.

Very good ramen. I got a to-go order and everything carried really well. Of course the tempura would have been better if it would have came straight from the fryer to a table. The spicy miso Ramen dose have a kick so if youre looking to clear your sinuses I recommend you order it. Cant wait to order again and explore their menu.

Kinda sad that they call this “authentic” ramen. If the people that comes here likes it, when they go to Japan and try the ramen there, they may call the ones in Japan a fake. Soup was not real ramen soup, noodle was more like “somen” noodles. (Yes, authentic “tonkotsu” noodle is suppose to be thin but not this “somen” noodles) Of course it’s own partly by a Korean people so I get it. I also know it’s not Japan but please don’t advertise as authentic. For the people here they eat it as a soup noodles and as long as people like the taste of these soup and the type of noodles they use, I have no complaints. Should call it Noodle Soup shop instead of “Ramen” Try Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa Little Tokyo or Torrance if you want to taste the real Tonkotsu Ramen !

The tonkatsu is actually quite good, Id rate it 4 of 5. But each time I came, I ordered extra noodles so that I can split with the younglings. I gave them the base noodle in the order and add the extra. Theres some funky chemical after taste, hence the lower score. I even tested by coming a separate time and specifically eating the remaining noodles first before adding the extra. Off putting. But if you dont order the extra noodles, youre okay!
