Quite good and would say it’s the best ramen in Union City and its area.Good value and fast/timeliness of service. We’ve been looking for good spot for Tonkotsu Ramen in the east Bay Area, and finally we find this one.The broth is one of the richest for the ramen we’ve had recently, and the noodles are cooked just right! Chashu is not thin-sliced, but it comes with a decent size.Definitely recommend this one and will for sure come back regularly.

The veggie miso ramen had great flavor I added soft boiled egg and it was perfect! I got the seaweed salad as an appetizer; I’m glad there was a couple vegetarian options. the staff was efficient and friendly, overall a great time, I’ll be back.

Amazing little gem in Fremont. The tonkotsu broth base here it rich and very flavourful and very comparable with some of the other great ramen places in Asia. Service was pretty good and parking is easy. I recommend the black garlic (kuro tonkotsu) or if you like a little kick, take the red garlic oil (aka tonkotsu) ramen - but be warned that even level 2 can be quite spicy. Will I be back? Definitely!

Delicious ramen moods, very amicable service. The food was tasty and served hot. Only con is that they have no chicken option and only 1 vegetarian option. I thought vegetarian won’t be good but it was outstanding and tasty.Looking forward to visit often.

Great atmosphere, good food with ok portions.This place is cozy and a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. The service is decent. Great for solo or large group gatherings. Yummy condiments on the table for everyone.I got the black garlic oil ramen with an extra soft boiled egg. It was great, if you like your ramen flavorful and oily this is a good place to try. However the portion is a bit disappointing for the price ($17+ per entree), I only have a single slice of meat in my ramen and not that much noodles, and I dont think Ill be full if I didnt pay extra for the added egg.

Very good local ramen restaurant. Not the best in the Bay Area (that’s a high bar) but very good and the best I’ve tried in this area. Very accessible, close to the Union City BART, and at a major intersection. Lots of available parking (big lot) and lots of other businesses in the area.

Came here for dinner an hour before they closed on a weekday and it was nice and chill. Ramen always hits the spot and this place is no different. However, I eat a lot of ramen and black garlic is always my favorite. Overall, this place is great. Takoyaki is solid and the ramen is quite nice. I will say though that the ramen can be a bit on the pricier side. They also do go slightly light on the seasoning, so do use the salt and garlic bits provided.

Highly recommend the spicy cold tofu dish It’s not actually spicy at all, rather more like aromatic chili oil. It’s topped with some radish slices, onion and some crunchy pieces (unsure what they were) which rounded out the appetizer.The tonkotsu and spicy miso ramen were a little too salty. The latter tasted mostly like fried garlic, I couldn’t really get the miso flavor and nor was it that spicy. I did only get level 1 though.The chashu slices are think and the soft boiled egg is just the right consistency.Takoyaki and karaage were rather standard. We got them as an add on to our ramen.

Overall decent meal. The ramen was good but I wish the egg didnt cook so fast. I might try the aburasoba next time.Got the aka with spicy level 1. The tonkatsu broth was super rich and thick. The egg was nice and runny but I had to eat it right away because it was cooking in the broth. I would describe level 1 spice as not spicy at all, you could smell the chilis but it wasnt burning.

My go to Ramen Shop. This place has changed hands several times or at least change names since Ive moved here 13 years ago. But the ramen has always smacks here. They also have other dishes here that are pretty good. Takoyaki is really good here just be careful to make sure it cools off first before you eat it since they make it fresh.

I had the black garlic ramen, it was very flavorful. Lots of rich earthy and garlicky flavors. They do they egg whole which is awesome, it was amazing gooey inside. There were so many noodles! I got very very full. We had a side of the chicken karage which was perfectly made, great sizes for two or 3 bites each with two dips. Its a small place so seems busy but worth the wait.

Overall, I enjoyed the food.What was disappointing was the mildly overpricing (12.95 for two pieces of pork) for what I received. Adding spice brings the price up nearly another dollar (!) - theres free spice on the table. Solid. Perhaps not the same as a back alley in Tokyo, but its Union City. Saying high floor/low ceiling seems mean - Honestly, I cant complain about bad experience or bad food ever here over the last several years. Whenever my girls have a craving, we usually put an order in here and get it to go. Their chicken/rice is only ok and I do miss some of their fried fish bento boxes.

I am for sure going to go here again! My boyfriend and I got the Chasu Don Rice Bowl, 6Pcs Gyoza and of course there Kuro Ton Katsu Ramen. The gyoza was crunchy and delightful with the sauce it came with. The Chasu Don had an even balance with the meat and veggies and of course the rice and the ramen is a must try 😋 Highly suggest going there!

I have dined in and taken out here many times and the ramen is still one of the best in UC and Fremont. I prefer the spicy dragon ramen while my SO likes the black garlic tonkotsu. The karrage chicken is pretty good as well. They have other appetizers that are worth checking out. Staff is always attentive and you get your food relatively quick. Give this place a try, its definitely a top ramen spot in the try-city area.

Ordered Dragon Ramen and with chicken combo set. Chicken combo set came with 3 bite size pieces that was fried and not crispy, and tiny little veggies on side of small plate; this should be considered appetizer or side. Everything came out quickly. Service was good. Soup was spicy, but noodle needed more flavor so I put dried garlic on it from table and it made it taste much better. Everything cost about $20 and felt like I ate a kids meal. If you are a big eater, you will not be satisfied. Very little meat and boiled egg was undercooked by a lot; felt unsafe to eat, so I didnt eat it.

This is a small place with good ramen. The soup was so deliciously opaque with lots of umami.Feels intimate and local, yet theres a big table for slightly larger groups... Best ramen spot in the ENTIRE bay area, I have gone to ramen in SF, San mateo, San jose, mountain view, Hayward, Oakland and all over the bay area and this place absolutely kills it!! Every single time pure delicious food no matter what I order! I normally get the black garlic tonkotsu with the braised pork, seaweed salad and gyoza. I have gone to highly rated ramen spots and its just never as good as ramen shu. I recommend it to everyone I know, I drag my friends there and Ive even dined alone! The waiters are very nice! The place is simply amazing. Parking is slightly difficult and sometimes theyre busy but I would park five blocks away and wait an hour to eat here if I had to! Thank you! 15/10

Im a total noodle addict and ramen is one of my weaknesses 🍜 🍜 🍜Ive been coming here too many times but I cant help it. They make a fantastic bowl of ramen here and Im a fan. Whats awesome here is that they have meal sets! You can get a ramen and pay a little more of an additional small item like curry rice, tuna rice bowl, or karaage! Its super convenient and adds variety to my ramen. As for the ramen, I love their dragon ramen. The soup has a lot of flavor without it being too oily or fatty and the noodles are chewy.I do wish they made their eggs soft boiled because that would make the ramen near perfect. They almost get it right but definitely not Orenchi level. I also find that their chashu is good but not the best Ive had. Though overall their ramen is solid for taste, price, and portion.The restaurant itself is pretty big with tables for both large and small groups. Service is pretty on point as well. During the weekends, there might be a slight wait but its never too long. My least favorite part about coming here might is definitely parking.

It starts w the ramen of course! I love the Dragon ramen, which is a spicy version of Tonkatsu ramen. The soup base is ultra delicious, w well balanced flavor, making it enjoyable to the end. The eggs are perfect every time, gelatinous yolk, w just the right amount of flavor. The chasu pork is slightly seared, making it crispy and soft, just great! I have tried a few other menu items as well and they are also great! All in all, this is now my favorite ramen place amongst the many I’ve tried in the Bay Area from SF to San Jose

We visited Ramen Shu last night for the second time excited for some more delicious soup and we were greeted by a really snotty waitress named Kesia. It was windy and cold so we asked if we could sit in the back area away from the door. She said it was full back there and sat us by the door. Oh well we thought because at least we were about to have some delicious warm ramen! We waited and waited as she stood around talking wondering if that was just a hostess or our waitress. Then she finally comes over and gets our order. I go to the restroom and pass the back room going there and THERE IS NO ONE IN THAT ROOM!! Then when I get back to our table... she seats the next couple in the back room. Are you serious?! So a man brings us our food and its delicious. We ordered the veggie miso ramen HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And Kesia never checks back up on us or even acknowledges us the entire time were eating. Empty water glasses sitting on the edge of our table. We get up and ask someone if we can get more water and a man brings us a refill. We wait and wait trying to flag her down for our check and it almost seems like she is completely ignoring us on purpose! Frustrated... we get up and walk over to the register catching her and ask for our check. She then turns to the guy next to her and says can you get this table their check. Seriously? It wasnt even busy! Who hired this girl? Food was good but the service was so bad, especially compared to our first experience, that weve decided not to return due to how poor Kesia was.

Best ramen spot in Union City, Fremont, and Newark area, in my opinion. Chef is from Japan, has passion for ramen. I usually get the dragon (spicy) with the fried chicken (at least three large, juicy, lightly breaded boneless thigh pieces), or their chashu (braised pork) over rice combo is super value as well. Our favorite here is the Tonkotsu ramen. It is a pork based broth that is rich and flavorful. The bowl comes with 2 slices of chasu pork, soft boiled egg and other fixings. Great value. We will continue to come here regularly.
