Loved it! No frills restaurant with great ramen. Had the pork bone broth ramen with seaweed, mushrooms, scallions, sesame seeds, pork belly and pork. Rich, creamy (but theres no cream) broth. The portions are large so sharing one might be a good way to go. The octopus balls were also good. Cant wait till my next visit!

Great food and awesome value! In my opinion the prices are super amazing for a ramen shop and the food is awesome with flavor. Ive been to alot of Ramen shops all over the world and this one for sure is very well done.Atmosphere and service are great too and while I was eating alone my meal was still delivered quicker than expected.

The food was delicious. I had a Karaage chicken bento (see the photo) which was served with a yummy sauce. The portions were a lot bigger than I expected. I was sitting next to the counter and everything smelled great. :P

Really liked the vegan ramen version. It has the rich flavor of traditional ramen, but feels lighter and healthier afterwards. A good option for those who crave ramen but afraid of the calories!

I ordered the salted soup, it was OK, not so special and my friend ordered the pork bone soup which is wayyyy to oily. The boiled eggs were good and so soft, highly recommend. The service was very slow. I think it is because of they have only 2 servers on the floor.

Went during a slower period and sat at the bar. Prompt and good service, and the prices are good. I like that you can add a side salad and rice to ramen for only 5 bucks. Got the tonoksu spicy just level one and it left me sniffling a tad, so about perfect there.

Not very exciting. Service was very poor. With so many choices in ramen, Im not sure how they stay in business. I ordered bean sprouts as an extra topping and they gave a ridiculous amount, so much that there were more bean sprouts than noodles... No exaggeration. Ordered a combo... They forgot the combo portion. Salad came when I was halfway through the ramen and the gyoza a while after that. No apologies. Ramen itself lacked flavor, but then again it was half bean sprouts!!

Delicious ramen 🍜 and very friendly staff!!!I ordered Veggie ramen with shrimp wonton, garlic and chili on a side. The only thing that I didn’t like - too many noodles that absorbed the broth faster than I was able to say ramen.

I had the Tonkotsu spicy level 2 with extra chasu pork/extra noodles, it was by far the best ramen I have tasted. The ramen soup was so flavorful Im craving it now as I write this...but there was a bit of a downfall with the chasu, some of it tasted as if it was scorched.( It did not appear to be burnt though.)I would give them another shot.

My favorite ramen place. The broth is so rich and flavorful. And I love the texture of the noodles, it’s a little nutty and chewy (in a good way). Staff are nice, friendly and welcoming.Good food and good service.They can get super busy, I come here during downtime.

Compliments to the chef!! The BEST RAMEN EVER. I ordered mine spicy on a level 3, was perfect! The broth was fish broth, so delicious. Came here last night. Always my go to place for delicious ramen. If youre not feeling like s lot a meat and fatty broth go for the vegetarian ramen it is phenomenal too. You will be quite surprise how much flavor and richness it is. I Always buy extra noodles & egg for take home with my leftover broth.

Spicy Ramen was sour. Not a good flavor. Other things on the menu might be good. Waiter was not great either. We asked what drinks he would recommend and he just said I dont drink. There s a good Ramen spot up the road in Palms well continue to frequent.

I was introduced to this place by a friend who had tried it all and said this was the best. Poor guy, I think he lost all his taste buds from smoking too much buds.This was the saltiest ramen Ive ever had. I felt like I should have asked for some hot water to dilute the saltiness. I was craving Ramen after work but didnt feel like going anywhere so thanks to DoorDash i was able to get this place delivered once I got home. Ive never been here before and it was freaking DELICIOUS! I ordered the Basic Pork Broth Ramen w/Chashu Pork and garlic on the side. The broth is fattier than I would like it to be, or I would have given them 5 stars, but other than that it was great! Id definitely order again!

This place is absolutely horrible. The broth is super oily and fatty, you can literally see a layer of oil at the top and if you get spicy ramen its even more. The noodles are plain and have no flavor and the texture is too tough. The service is terrible and Ive never been treated as poorly at any other restaurant than I have here. They are super unfriendly and are frainkly pretty rude. If I could give this play 0 stars I would but the site wont let me. So if you want terrible ramen and a bad stomach ache this is the place to go!

I would rate 5 stars. But due to little to no ventilation in the place its a no. Great food and not too of a confusing menu, very easy to read. Beer on draft, though they could have a better set up. Been here a couple times now and never disappoints. You do come out smelling like oil, foody, type smell. Thats something that has to be fixed. No one likes going to the next spot of the evening smelling of oil and other stuff. I like my food spicy so I recommend anything spicy. You choose your spicy level.

It seems like a cool place to come by with friends. Ordering is fast as the employees walked around every now and then. Its just that the ramen that I ordered it was brought fast which was pretty cool so I didnt have to wait only to have the meat inside not hot which forced me to wait until the meat warmed up inside the bowl, just wished that they let the meat heat up before serving it.

A mainly ramen place that isn’t that large inside. There’s tables and a small counter. The menu is small as well. I got take out during the lunch hour, and with only two servers doing everything it was a little hectic for them.I got the vegan ramen, probably one of the better ones out there. It comes with bamboo, green onion, tomato, corn, mushroom, and tasty spinach noodles. The miso broth is okay, it wasn’t that hot, as i ate it immediately and it was less than hot. Flavor overall is fine, but i feel something is missing from it.

This restaurant had many varieties of chinese and Japanese noodles. My son is a vegan and there were many choices he could eat. I ordered a bowl with sliced meat, vegetables and a great sauce. TLDR: Food and atmosphere is 5 star, service is 1.The ramen is great. The menu is pretty neat and they offer a spicy ramen challenge. All 6 bowls of ramen were very well prepared and delicious.The service was atrocious. First, after telling the waitress we did not want any appetizers (our exact words were No thank you), the waitress promptly shouted to the cook that we wanted gyoza. When we told her we didnt want it (as we were still waiting for 4 other people), she got offended. The table next to ours arrived after us and received 3 refills while our table was actively ignored for the entire time except to throw the food sloppily on the table. When she came by to refill the drinks for the table next to us, we asked for refills. We recieved an eyeroll as she turned her back and walked away with the water. We came in prepared to spend over $300, but between the waitress trying to pad the bill and the empty water/tea cups; we decided just to eat quick and leave. Finally, after we asked for the check, we asked for 6 to-go bowls; she brought over 1 bowl and dumped the other 5.Im not sure what we did to offend her. I also dont know why she thought it was ok to try and force us to order items we didnt want. All I know is that there are too many ramen shops in this area to ever come back to this place. I hope their service improves soon, as the food really is pretty good.

They have a sign-in sheet for seating and a sign that says wait to be seated. It was never checked while I was there and other people got seated first. They were very busy. Finally, i just took an empty table. The waitress kept missing us so I start waving the menu like a flag to get her attention, which resulted in getting everyones attention. After she acknowledged us, everything went fine. Id never had ramen before except for the instant stuff in a cup. I tried the pork belly ramen with a few additions, level 1 spice. Pretty good. Pork belly was great. A decent meal but couldnt eat it all. I was glad I was patient and stayed cos Id almost walked out earlier. The waitress turned out to be great. She was like a machine waiting on the entire clientele by herself. Now heres the best parts. I left happy and smiling, thinking Ill return again but it really wasnt something to write home about.Hours later, I reheated what I hadnt eaten earlier and it was totally AMAZING. I wish I had taken out another bowl of ramen, it was so good. I was WOWED to no end. I highly recommend taking home another order of ramen. Its better later...

I really want to like this place, but its been more miss than hit lately. There are times it takes seemingly forever for the ramen to come out. On top of that, they usually dont bring your additional toppings at the same time so you have to wait even more. On more than one occasion the pork char siu was cold, like they just pulled it out of the fridge and put it on top of the ramen.

Great ramen shop good prices wacth out for the sodas its not refill just one can per order, theres plenty of parking just by turning into the first left corner to the store .For big eaters order extra serving of noodles in the bowl and you should be good. Overall great place would visit again.

Ramen Yamadaya serves a light, refreshing bowl of tonkotsu ramen. Overall, the restaurant is pretty average and fails to stand out from the many renown ramen booths in LA.I went on a Sunday afternoon and the service was not very good. It took 5-10 minutes to be seated despite so many empty tables. I think the business wants to make their waiting list seem longer (similar to Daikokuya). The waitress also got our order wrong, giving us the wrong appetizer instead of takoyaki.I shared a fried chicken appetizer with a friend (good but nothing special) and ordered a tonkotsu kotteri style ramen for myself. The ramen wasnt anything special- nothing stood out about the flavor. The broth was not particularly strong, and the dish concentrated on the flavor from the copious amounts of green onion, which makes the dish seem fresh but lacking in substance. The bowl came with one small piece of pork which was mostly fat, and one egg. The noodles were small and not as tender of a texture that I usually enjoy with my ramen.For kotteri ramen, my dish was very plain and underwhelming. Although this chain is starting to expand (there is one in Westwood that is fairly recent), it lacks the hole-in-the-wall, authentic ramen bar ambiance that for me is integral to eating ramen.

Ive been here twice now and I must say that overall I find it to be pretty good. The first time it was right around 5:30pm on a weeknight so it wasnt very crowded at all, but the second time was around 6pm on a Sunday night and it was very busy. Apparently the second scenario is the norm, so be prepared. On my first visit I tried their spicy tonkotsu combo with side of salmon roe rice bowl and salad and the second time I got their vegan (yes, vegan) ramen combo, again with the salmon roe rice bowl and salad as sides. As you may have surmised, Im not a vegetarian, but having a veg significant other has made me more conscious about it and I was truly curious about the taste of the vegan option, which you can easily not make vegan by getting it with a side of egg, like I did. The broth was surprisingly rich, with a hearty miso paste base. I was surprised to see that the curly ramen noodles were green, but I could discern no particular difference in flavor and I loved their chewy texture. The cooked spinach and corn they had in the bowl was cold, which was weird, but warmed right up in the hot broth. It also came with two slices of raw tomato, which I did not care for and took right out. There were also mushrooms and bamboo shoots, which I love. Their salmon roe bowl were great both times, with very fresh roe and nicely cooked rice. Their side salad is just ok--just a lot of shredded cabbage and tomato slices in standard ponzu dressing. Their regular tonkotsu ramen was on par with the other Yamadaya location Ive visited, so at least that seems consistent.The atmosphere here can be a bit hectic when its crowded, and their weird cash register counter against one of the walls with its visible clutter of napkins, cups and other supplies contribute to the hectic vibe. So the ambiance isnt all that but I think this is a solid choice for ramen, especially in this area, which isnt exactly bustling with other ramen options.

They don’t close at 10pm they close at 9:30. Tried to go in to get a to go order at 9:30 but they had already shut everything down. I’ve worked at plenty of food places so I understand cleaning and trying to do all the closing stuff beforehand so you’re not there super long after close time but you can’t turn off everything so that you can’t make anything else for anyone that comes into your restaurant before you’re even supposed to close. That doesn’t make any sense. Say you close at 9:30pm then. Simple.

Its quarter of a mile walk from my work, so i see to it to eat here once or twice a month. Great authentic ramen, I usually order TONKOTSU KOTTERI, and make it spicy please. The broth is cooked for more that a day so you get the best taste for the soup. I recommend you guys visit this place. If ever your stuck on the 405 freeway traffic near Culver City, exit Washington.

Ive known about this place for quite some time, but decided to go in today. Customer service was great and I was seated and served pretty quickly. I ordered yamadaya tonkotsu and overall it was a 7.5 out of 10. The broth was luke warm (couldve been a bit hotter.) The broth I recieved was also a bit salty...Salt in seaweed, broth, and egg. If the salt is toned down just a tad and it was hotter, my rating would be 8.5 out of 10.

Be warned: they do not close for the afternoon at 3pm as google says, they stop letting people in at 2:30pm. Its not because theyre busy, they just dont want people coming in right before 3 and keeping them there longer. I have been going there for years (and I truly do love the ramen), but today got there at 2:40 and was turned away despite them acknowledging that they officially close at 3pm. So ridiculous. Really turns me off of going back.

Great ramen spot for ramen lovers and casuals. Busy lunch hours, inconvenient parking.When I started to use Yamadayas broth as a measuring stick for trying other similarly priced restaurants, I knew then they had finally made a true fan out of me. 20 hours is the amount of time Yamadaya takes to prepare the broth, as written on the wall (with help from a talking cartoon pig, which was kinda creepy). And unlike others who claim the same (ahem, Ramen Champ), you can actually taste it: a broth that is rich and complex, brimming with flavor.Last time I was here we were seated at an interesting round table of the sorts. I had my regular choice, Tonkotsu Kotteri, my friend had the cheesy variety (I believe its Parmesan). Word of warning: lots of cheese in that one, will leave you really full. You can customize the spicy (always go full spicy), and, pro-tip, ask for complimentary fresh garlic (always go full garlic).Staff is nice and they have no problem splitting checks. Parking is horrible thanks to the busy lunch rushes, and since the city cut off access to the residential street, your best bet is to get here for a really early or really late lunch. Its a far cry from the best of the best, but for a nice lunch on your work hour you really can not go wrong.

I love Ramen and its all about the broth, but its way too fatty and lacks flavor and integrated spice. The spicy element is this weird orange stuff. I felt sick after I ate here. I havent found a better Ramen in all of LA than Santouka at the Mitsuwa Market on Centinela and Venice. Get the Spicy Miso Ramen with Extra Pork. People wait in line for this dish and it is so worth it. You will not find a better Ramen in Los Angeles. Its the perfect consistently, seasoning and spice.

With its late night hours and available seating, Yamadaya is one of my favorite ramen spots in LA. While you could go to Sawtelle and stand outside for an hour waiting for ramen, you could just drive south for 10 minutes and get a comparable bowl of delicious noodles and sit down right away at Yamadaya.In addition to the ramen being delicious (spicy being my main pick), the chicken kara age is always on point. When you order your ramen, make sure to ask for some fresh garlic as well. Theyll give you a garlic press, along with some cloves that you can crush directly into your bowl. It gives your ramen a little kick that youll be pretty happy about.The service is always quick, even when theyre open late. Its consistently good and youll always leave satisfied.

Not great. I used to pass by this place all the time and always wanted to try it. The broth sounds like it would be awesome, but it is incredibly bland. I had to put a ton of soy sauce, sriracha, and jalapeños in it to make it taste like something. Theyre very limited with their additions as well. Customer service wasnt great either.

I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! I have been here many times because of their delicious broth. On 9/01/15 a friend of mine discovered a fly in her broth. This made me sick to my stomach after having my own bowl of ramen. I am disgusted by what we discovered and plan to never attend this place again. The people that run this establishment are very unprofessional and disrespectful. As a neighboring business, its pretty frustrating when their employees repeatedly and callously smoke marijuana and cigarettes right outside the back entrances, so the smoke rolls into our business and reflects very poorly upon us.After asking the same employees over and over and over again, it just doesnt stop. Its very malicious on their part. Multiple emails to their corporate email have yielded no response. Ive even gone as far as bringing management over to address it. No apologies... and the last straw was just drawn as I had to, yet again, be disturbed by the same problematic employee.Im left with no other options, but to vent publicly.

Being a native of Fukuoka, Japan(AKA Hakata), and being raised in one of the ramen capital of the world, I tend to be a picky ramen critic. Yamadaya is a welcome addition to L.A.s expanding ramen scene. My only gripe used to be that their soup was too oily and too heavy, even for Tonkotsu standards(Hakata ramen, although the broth is the white Tonkotsu style, tend to be very light). I dont think they pretend to be a Hakata ramen joint like Shinsengumi, I still tend to like lighter flavor.Well, I tried them for the first time in a few years since they opened around 2012, and I like their broth a lot better. It is lighter, and reminds me of Ippudo from Hakata.

When Im craving ramen on the Westside and dont want to search for parking in Sawtelle area, this is where I go.They have lots of tables. Great for couples, families and small groups. Their menu includes appetizers, ramen, and some side dishes.I always get theTonkotsu Kotteri. Its basically a richer, fattier pork broth. Comes with slices of pork and a hardboiled egg. I like the texture of the ramen noodles.Service is pretty quick too. And they have a small parking lot in the back. If thats full, you can park for free on the street too.I want to come back and try their kaarage (fried chicken) and their takoyaki.

Ive been to Japan and this is the closest thing Ive had anywhere in LA and they includes little Tokyo. You cant go wrong with the katsu curry, pork belly or the tonkotsu ramen bowl.

For a rich and flavorful Ramen fix, its hard to beat Ramen Yamadaya, prounounced Yamada-yah. The secret is the broth which is made from boiling pork bones for 20 hours. So, rich and creamy delicious. I get the Kotteri with extra chili sauce and loads of raw garlic you press yourself. With a large bottle of Asahi Super Dry, it makes for a great meal.
