Went here for dinner and at 6, we were the only ones there. We ordered a lot of food - bowls of Jasmine rice, Mango Chicken, Garlic Noodles, Burmese Pad Thai, Yellow Tofu in Red Curry and ended with a Coconut Pudding.Mango Chicken was sweet - expected it to be tangy. The Pad Thai and Red Curry base were the same. The Banana Pudding however was interesting. We ordered it with vanilla ice cream and it was awesome. Will come back for more.

Small restaurant in downtown San Carlos. Ambiance is nice and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Has online payment option. The food is good, the highlight of the meal was the Burmese Pad Thai and the mango sticky rice. Parking in downtown San Carlos can be tricky at times. Burmese iced tea is not the same as Thai iced tea, more like Indian chai tea.

Rangoon Ruby is a bit of an anomaly. The interior exudes of something that pushes it to be higher end, but in a Western way while the food obviously is Burmese/Thai. Now thats okay... to be a fancy high-end Asian cuisine. Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesnt support it.The chicken comes in like flakes of cardboard. While the paratas were tasty, the lamb dip was simply washed out. The eggplant dish was surprisingly the saving grace. But again, one dish being tasty out of many simply doesnt live up to the caliber of the facade. If it wasnt for the kind waiter, I wouldve dropped the review to a 2-star. A bit disappointing and a bummer that they couldnt live up to the expected quality.

Went on a sunday, dinner for 2. It was really crowded, but staff were friendly and did their best. We ordered some sake that was pretty decent for like $35 a bottle. We had samosas and the tea leaf salad for appetizers. Both were really great, especially the salad. The fermented tea leaf is a distinct flavor, and paired with crunchy nuts and greens is a good combo. The spicy lamb and pork curry were definitely good but nothing crazy amazing. I also thought the rice was overcooked and clumpy. Overall very good experience, but would probably try different mains next time.

We got the garlic noodles- excellent. Lemongrass Chicken- excellent. Chicken Crispy- my son said was great. Jasmine rice was done perfectly! Can’t wait to explore more of their menu! Slightly pricey, but the portions & flavor make up for it!

If you are vegan/vegetarian stay away from this place! We went there on a Saturday evening. We were disappointed to see that the restaurant was understaffed. There was only one person working, and they were responsible for seating customers, taking orders, bringing out food, and doing the billing. The lady was doing her best and wait times were a bit longer. But every time we had to try hard to get her attention. Our party was a mix of vegetarians (for religious reasons) and vegans. We ordered the mix veg curry which was vegan. We get the dish and find a piece of red meat in it. How can a piece of meat just accidentally enter a dish that never had meat to begin with. Spoilt our whole evening and no amount of discount that they offered us can make up for seeing meat on your dinner plate. Stay away from this place!

Pro Tips:-DO NOT get the Garlic Noodles.-Bring friends who are willing to share so you can try several things.-Stick to the Jasmine Rice, anything else is excessive.-Dont open the bottle in the middle, it is not for free.-Better to go more than less spicy here(for all my spice lovers).Rangoon Ruby is a great place for dates, work luncheons, and just hanging out with friends. All of the plates can be arranged for individuals or to be shared family style. The chef measures the spice level such that it never overtakes the flavor of the dish. However, if you want to be in pain and sweating, even the highest level of spiciness will not do that for you.Definitely try the samosas and the tea leaf salad. Both are great starters and are executed perfectly.I highly recommend the Fiery Tofu and Vegetables for all my vegetarians out there. Every single element of the dish is balanced perfectly with zero faults.

This was my first time having Burmese and was bit excited. Started with freshly cut coconut with coconut water, it was bit ok not that good. Had Tea leaf salad & loved it, it tasted soo good . Service was very friendly. As this’s our first time here got no idea what to have and the lady who served our table was a great help to us. And then tried a Fish dish called Basil Chili Swai (if I’m not wrong) with a side of flavored coconut rice which was damn good. Ended up with Coconut pudding along with Pineapple ice cream. Over all the experience was amazing. Will definitely come back .......

Ordered this location for catering to the office and everyone absolutely loved the food. Beef and chicken were tender, walnut shrimp were large sized, garlic noodles was nice as well. Fiery tofu and vegetables (green beans) and garlic eggplant were extremely popular choices. A must have favorite for the office. Catering portions are definitely a little smaller than the claimed headcount, be prepared to order quite a bit extra compared to the claimed headcount.

I’m super disappointed.. first time I dined in two months ago and the service was lousy and the food was not good at all! The next time, I ordered for pick up and still disappointed and then today I ordered for take out again hoping that the food would be better as it is different dish but still super disappointed!! I’m just wasting my money! I wont ever ever order or dine here anymore!! Everything is just sooo bad!! ☹️
