The only thing my friends and i crave after a surf session in capitola. the veg Happy Cow is delicious. every ingredient has so much thought put into it. their house hummus was amazing too!

Really tasty sandwich, the pork belly and lemon sauce were top notch.But the price is way too high for the amount of food you get.The sandwiches should be, maximum, $12-14, not $18 before tax and tip.

Amazing sandwiches!!! Best I’ve had in a while! Only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the tea, it basically tasted like lemon water to me. But again, fantastic sandwiches. We had the Maestro and the Foxy.

One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I had the Surf City. Everything in the shop is so fresh, I had a hard time only buying one thing. The service was fantastic as was the outdoor seating.

Such a great spot for out of this world sandwiches, nothing like you have tried before. The Foxy Loxy is by far my favourite, the Surf Trip perfect for hot summer days. Now they are doing breakfast over the weekend and the breakfast sandwich is a must try. Great service and friendly staff willing to do some changes if needed.

We met Anthony and his team last week while visiting from Portsmouth NH. I grew up on Long Island working in great delis. Anthony at Reef Dog takes deli to gourmet. Great people and great food. The pastrami is killer - like nothing I have ever had. I got home today and got a local pastrami sandwich and it does not compare.Anthony - we will see you next year.Tim

My daughter & I had the most incredible culinary experience having ordered the Surf Trip salmon sandwich along with the pumpkin soup on Tuesday. These are not just ordinary sandwiches, they a works of culinary art with a burst of savory magic. Stopped by unexpectedly after a long walk around the neighborhood. Can’t believe I’d never been here before as I live nearby. The best clam chowder I’ve ever had. Chock full of clams and rich flavor. Perfection. And the sandwich, holy smokes, the sandwich! I’ll be back!

We just enjoyed the most delicious sandwiches from Reef Dog!! A Maestro, the Surf Trip and a Happy Cow. Fresh and artfully prepared with quality ingredients. The staff all care about delivering culinary perfection in every sandwich. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder and it was packed with clams and well-seasoned. We topped off our lunch with cookies that were a last minute must have since they were displayed by the register. Really tasty, with just the right treat factor! Lemon coconut, chocolate chip and ginger snaps. All in all a fabulous meal! Thanks for making our lunch an awesome experience!!

My husband and I both enjoyed what was easily one of the best sandwiches we have ever had. We got the blackened fish sandwich and the ingredients were fresh, the flavors were magical and the proportions were perfect. The shop is quaint, open, and inviting. The take away offerings (hummus, chimichurri, deviled egg dip, marinated meats, cold sandwiches, salads (and more) looked scrumptious, fairly priced, and perfect for a picnic on the beach. We will definitely be back!

Today was my first visit to the Reef Dog Deli. I ordered the Maestro sandwich.It was the most amazing flavor Ive ever experienced on a ciabatta. The Creation and preparation of this sandwich was well worth every cent. If you appreciate Fine food on an easy take out sandwich to eat while sitting at the beach, this is the place to go! I will be back again with friends in tow. Such Friendly people too! Definitely Best of Capitola!

Came in looking for a decent meal and everything we ate *hit* so hard I wanted to buy more. We had a Sourdough Toasty with smoked pastrami and a tomato basil soup, and a Surf Trip. Both sandwiches are now in my top ten sandwich list, with the Surf Trip tied for #1!

Everyone working there whove I came in contact is very nice and welcoming. The food is incredible. Its all superior to places ive eaten with similar cuisine and nothing else compares in this county that Ive experienced. Micaela and the chef Roman did a great job with handling orders including mine. They took extra unnecessary steps to enhance the experience. Because of their extra effort I would return here again

A most enjoyable experience, and everything I imagined it to be. Standing in the deli was a tantalizing experience to say the least, the aromas circulating in a small area had me intrigued and I couldnt wait to taste my soup andReefy (pastrami on sourdough bread, etc) sandwich. I was not disappointed at all. I thoroughly enjoyed my choices and I will most definitely go back.These guys know what its all about!

Here at Reef Dog you may be lucky enough to have a sandwich made by Anthony himself, the owner and chef of Reef Dog. Anthony is a serious chef who deserves a standing ovation for his finely crafted menu. The sandwiches are artfully prepared, saucy, and incredibly delicious. Reef Dog selects, preps, and cooks their meats with pride. The ingredients are unequivocally fresh and high quality. You will not find a better fast-casual establishment in a 30 mile radius. This place is for eaters who know what they want and are prepare to be blessed.

We were totally surprise by this wonderful eatery that has an inviting store front and the food was mouth watering. We had a pork belly sandwich that is out of this world and the butternut squash soup with roasted pumpkin seeds warms my soul. We highly recommend you come and enjoy

I walked into the deli to check it out. Great little building, well decorated atmosphere...looked like a great local spot that Id like to try out, being a guy who is constantly in search of great delis and sandwich places. The owner/chef started a conversation and quickly boasted that this would be the Best Sandwich Id ever eaten. I thought, hmmm, thats quite a claim, then another customer behind me agreed, yes, best sandwich youll ever have! OK, I thought. I like their confidence. Lets do this.I chose the Maestro Giacamo Sandwich, and I was NOT disappointed! Tender pork belly, marinated and rolled in spices and flavors I cant fully describe, presented on a toasted ciabatta roll. It was truly a culinary masterpiece! I discovered taste buds I didnt know I had! It was more like a religious experience than a lunch spot!So if you want to discover a whole new level of sandwich artistry, and fire off new synapses in your brain like the animated mouse in the movie Ratatouille, check out Reef Dog Deli! We ordered the tuna melt, it was yummy. They also have a variety of marinated and to-go foods that look good.Primary downside is the wait, (we did go on a Saturday afternoon) for one sandwich we waited 25 minutes even though there weren’t many other people there at the time.

Brought the whole family here today and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and such high quality. The ahi tuna sandwich on gluten-free bread was my favorite with so many interesting flavors that combined perfectly. The vegetarian mushroom and veggie sandwich was fantastic with lots of fresh veggies. We also got a sandwich with BBQ’d chicken, also perfectly flavored. Everything was so fresh, with lots of veggies. The kids loved their grilled cheese sandwiches on sourdough - my son said it was the best one he’d ever had. They also have a great selection of unusual drinks (I got something with CBD in a can) and some yummy-looking dips. We got artichoke hummus and chimichuri which I’m excited to enjoy later. The staff was friendly and patient with our many questions. This place has a great location, an easy walk to the beach, where we sat and devoured our sandwiches. I highly recommend this place!

I was down in Capitola pulling my buisness liscense for a roofing project. I decided before I get back on the road I will head down the street to find something to eat. I was glad I did! The owner ! Many people go into buisness, very few are in it 100% The owner was working the cash register talking to a couple of regular customers about the salads and prepackaged ready to bake/cook halibut, tritrip, chicken, pancetta wrapped with bacon stuffed with goodness. I cant do this place justice by just naming only a few of the things they sell. I advise people to try this place! YUMMY! The sandwiches are awesome along with the close knit staff. I was intrigued that the owners dog Reef was a huge influence on the owners establishment. With pictures on the wall with his dog Reef out on the waves like his owner, surfing away a day back in time. It was really a blessing to find this place and to see the owner in love with his buisness and what he does. I WISH I COULD HAVE MET REEF.
