Having lived throughout the Southwest for 8 years,... was surprised to see this little hidden gem. I must be fair, if this was actually IN Santa Fe or Albuquerque it would probably get a 3.5 but hey, its in Silicon Valley ! Love it. Must try the Green Chile Stew and everything needs to be Christmas style then finish it off with sopapillas. Only knock is they should use some good honey along with it.For the bad reviews regarding this place trying to change Mexican food or comparing to other Mexican restaurants nearby.... it is NEW Mexican lol.

Got the chicken burrito. Chicken has no flavor and is barely grilled. Tasted boiled. Pretty unappetizing.Customer service was great though.This place would be great if they learned to marinate and grill chicken properly.

This place is perfect for vegetarians and vegans! Their rice and beans do not contain any lard or chicken broth. They have a full self-serve salsa bar with plenty of options, as well as more than just one vegetarian menu item. There are cheese enchiladas, the R&B burrito, mushroom quesadilla and more! For vegans I would recommend the R&B burrito without cheese. They can make substitutions here. Any burrito can be made “wet”. The staff here is always really frequently and they serve you for Dine-In after ordering at the counter!

We pulled in pretty last min, an hour to spare till the dining room closed. But the food was still great!! My partner and I got the steak pueblo nachos. Im allergic to avocados and of course asked for no guac. Even though it was late and it would be hella easy to make a simple mistake as forgetting that request, they remembered! The chips and all the fixins were layered really well, lots of cheese, generous amount of meat and fresh salsas. Definitely will return, thanks to the late night staff!

Good meat portions and flavor. Chicken and steak have a lighter flavor. I like their Chicken Burrito and spicy Taco Adobada. Complementary nachos if you order a main dish and open salsa bar.

They were out of forks and napkins during dinner time when we went. I ordered two tacos, which were on really soggy tortillas, and a lot spicier than I wouldve liked. The meats were dried, although there was a lot. We were given free chips on the side though, which is nice.

Had this place bookmarked for a while and finally got a chance to try it. They serve New Mexico style cuisine. New Mexican cuisine has the great divide between fans of the red chile and green chile.They had some of the dishes unique to New Mexican cuisine, like the Chile Stew and Sopaipillas.I decided to have the Blue Hopi Enchiladas which are filled with some roasted corn . Asked them to omit any dairy, add some fajitas and go half and half on the sauce .Their beans and rice are vegan as well. They have a bunch of different salsa options on their salsa bar which were pretty nice.

This place is great !We walked in and mentioned it was our first time there, and Jonah immediately asked if we liked spicy food and then grabbed us samples of Adobada which we immediately ordered along with fish tacos.Free chips and access to the salsa bar are included, and all the salsas were amazing too. I especially liked the spicy corn and black bean salsa.Considering this is an order at the counter restaurant, the hospitality from Jonah was outstanding! The place was busy and he treated everyone with such a welcoming and positive energy and his passion for the food came through from the moment we walked in.We will be back !

Absolutely delicious, great service, fast, and great value!I ordered six plates to go for my wifes office, and they were ready to pick up in 15 minutes! My order, the cheese enchiladas, was splendid--super cheesy, with excellent tangy red sauce.Jonas is super friendly and helpful, and printed out a receipt for me after I forgot it when I picked up the order the first time.We will definitely be ordering again in the near future!

Friendly service, great food, free chips with a salsa bar. I went early afternoon and was the only guest at first. By the time I departed, another 6-8 patrons had arrived. The last time I enjoyed delicious Southwest food was in New Mexico. The red enchilada sauce was flavorful, tasted authentic with a perfect kick of spice. I also enjoyed the red and green salsas; They taste like the chilis my dad used to roast.Certainly with a visit. I will be back to try the fish burrito and tacos.

Loaded in favor of meat dishes, it still does have a few good choices for vegetarians (I am one). I would rate this a 3 for veg choices and taste. 4.5 for service-quality, service-speed and cleanliness (meaning hygiene, not spotlessness). Taco, Burrito and salad choices: portions are great as are the prices. Range is salsas and hot sauces. You can ask for dishes to be made spicy (marinated Jalapenos is their strategy but meshes well with the taco/burrito)

I feel like my reviews are mostly about other reviews haha. Spicyness is subjective, what you say is too spicy might not be spicy at all to others, so because you never eaten here and they didn’t know your personal preference to be able to automatically prepare it that way sounds like a personal problem to me.They have a salsa bar. This place is very unique compared to other Mexican places you will find nearby. The blue corn crab tacos are my familys favourite. The salmon taco is also delicious. I’ve been coming to rio Adobe for 11 years, since I first moved to California. It’s my favorite restaurant.The salmon tacos are my go to. Very tasty without being too heavy. The adobada anything is also very tasty, but could be too spicy for some. Salads are very good too.Their salsa bar was also great, too bad Covid did away with that. The employees are incredibly kind and sweet, and my favorite food to get here is the tortilla soup bowl. Its perfect along with a side of their amazing rice. They have large portions; I usually split the soup with my friend. Get full and happy here. Also, there are desert animal sculptures hidden on the walls and ceiling; I always play I Spy with company at Rio Adobe. Highly recommend. This is the restaurant of my fond childhood memories. I used to call it the Gecko Place when I was younger because of all the sculptures.

This is our familys favorite restaurant! We stumbled upon this restaurant after winning a raffle at a school fundraiser. Weve been going ever since which is about 10 years now! The first place in the area with true Southwest cuisine since 2004 or so, and still delivering. The Green Chili Stew is a regular staple, the Adobada is eye watering good, and the quesadilla menu has some interesting options. Even the beans are great. The Taos Toss Salad is a sleeper item, excellent with chicken.

This place is fantastic and has been for many years. I have been going for ten years now and the quality is still excellent. A couple of great things:The quesadillas are delicious and very filling. The quesadillas hongos (mushroom quesadillas) come with lettuce and a fresh sauce, and the heirloom tondo quesadillas have an accompanying tomato sauce. My wife swears by the burritos but I just cant abandon the quesadillas.The selection of salsa is top notch. I am particularly fond of the spicy New Mexico chili salsa. The tortilla chips are thick and flavorful.One last thing: if youre unsure what to drink, have a jarrito (soda). I recommend tamarind.

Ive been coming here since I was a little kid. As far as Im concerned, they have the best carnitas on the planet and it isnt close. The way they cook it leaves the ends incredibly crispy, while still not being too dry. Because of Rio Adobe, I cant go anywhere else for carnitas in fear of being let down.

Overall good Tex-Mex place with an interesting beer selection. I was served a burrito bare on a plate. Maybe thats their way of making it more classy so you would use utensils. I think it should always be wrapped in aluminium foil so it can be held in your hand.

It was fine; the menu is pretty standard Tex-mex. I shared the chicken burrito and chicken quesadilla with Gouda cheese. The quesadilla was great - the Gouda really elevated the dish, as they say on Chopped. The burrito was ok, nothing special. Felt like I can get the same burrito at Chipotle.

I have in the past, raved about a wonderful Cal-Mex restaurant I frequent in Cupertino, Aqui. Just across Aqui is an excellent southwestern place called Rio Adobe. Unlike Aqui which is a local chain with multiple locations, Rio Adobe is a one location only setup that serves sumptuous Mexican fare. I have a fondness for Mexican fare and Rio Adobe satisfies it to a great extent.This afternoon, I made a trip to the place. It had been a few months since my previous trip when I had the blue corn quesedilla special. I was greeted by a whole new set of specials, each one tantalizing. More appetizing was the fact that three of the four things they were offering as specials were vegetarian. I was famished and ordered a soup and a quesedilla. From my past experience, I knew that I had over ordered. Adobe’s lunch platters are big and filling. But I was up for the challenge. While we waited for our food to arrive, we were treated to some tortilla chips and many of 8 wonderful salsas they offered in their salsa bar. The salsas were fresh and tasty.The corn soup arrived as did my smoked gouda quesedilla. On a winter afternoon, I cant tell you how much I enjoyed the fare. The corn soup was flavorful with nice bits of roasted corn floating in the soup. The smoked gouda cheese quesedilla rocked- especilly with the chipotle aioli on the side. I had a feast for the senses. I walked out, fully satisfied and vowing to come back more often.Back at work, someone asked me how different it was from Aqui’s. Aqui’s offers healthy, organic fare which is flavorful but on a milder side. Portions are extremely well thought out and the food is almost always local, in season and fresh fare. Rio Adobe offers interesting takes on typical Mexican fare. Their food is not necessarily in small portions or for the health conscious. But the tradeoff is that one gets a much stronger taste and flavor- especially to the liking of people used to strong and spicy food. Both of them offer excellent fare for the southwest/Mexican/Cal-Mex lover.

Great crab and blue corn tacos. Pork with red adobe sauce also highly recommended. Sometimes, sopapillas are available. All salsas are made on premises. The tomatillo salsa is btter than any other taqueria; savory and flavorful, not cloyingly sweet like is found elsewhere. Try also the red New Mexico chile salsa. Smoky, complex and delicious (but can also be quite spicy, so beware if thats not your thing.)
