I stay at the hotel down the street from this restaurant for business purposes weekly. I was craving sushi, and some sake, searched locations near me and less than a 1/4 mile away heres Robata! Although they dont carry my go-to sake, I tried their recommendation and ordered up sushi. Everything about the food, drink and location was outstanding. Ive now got my sushi place in Mill Valley. If your near by, passing by or wanna go for a drive, check this place out.

Beautiful restaurant with fine Sushi’s and Sake. If you are visiting Mill Valley, this is a great stop for lunch and dinner. Seating is very nice, service is quick. Sake is very clean. Sushi is cooked to perfection.

The service was great! The waiter was friendly and attentive!The fish was nice and fresh! The only thing they need to improve on is the miso soup. It needs a bit more flavor. Other than that my family and I had a lovely time!

This restaurant serves the usual assortment of Japanese cuisine, with a Robata for the grilled items, which is fairly unique in the Bay Area. The sushi and sashimi are okay, with most fish lacking in freshness/flavor and some even on the dry side. The soba and udon are decent. The food itself would have gotten three stars if priced for the quality, but the total cost of dinner was quite a bit higher than what we thought it was worth.

I was at Todays Grill and Sushi tonight to have a nice dinner as I have had in that restaurant many, many times.Tonight it was a disaster, it was the worst service Ive ever had. I sat down by the grill, it took them 28 minutes to bring me the menus and a glass of water. Then I tried to order and waived the servers to come get my order....no luck!I waited another 25 minutes and just got up and left the restaurant very disappointed with the service. I know itll take a long time before I go back to Robata Grill.BTW, the restaurant was not super busy, they had 5 tables with clients. Nobody at the bar but me.No excuse, Super BAD SERVICE.

Very pricey. $34.50 for a 10 piece sashimi! $19.25 for a 5 piece sashimi. The hostess also asked if we could leave before 6:30pm. So we ate and left within 40 mins🤷🏽‍♀️ Been to a few Japanese across the world so its not like this is new. I actually love Japanese food.

We got takeout & loved the lightness of the fried eggplant & the quality of the sushi. Next time we want to dine in, great Kurosawa film-feel atmosphere, & the staff was handling the Friday night rush with grace. Covid precautions: Staff masked, no patrons did, looks possible to distance indoors if not crowded, didnt notice outdoor seating.

It’s been awhile since I’ve got to my favorite sushi place in Marin... however the quality and service was just as amazing last night as it was before the pandemic. Boi along with all the waiters and staff are so warm and welcoming. In addition, the food there is premium no matter what dish you pick off the menu. I’ve never been a big fan of seafood but when I go to Robata I eat anything and everything served to me. I love this place to death and will continue to recommend it to all my friends!

I had the chicken soba, along with the Yakitori chicken skewers and some mixed tempura. Overall the meal was great and I walked away full and happy. One big downside is absolutely the price, the lowest price for a substantial amount of food is just way too high. The atmosphere of the restaurant and kindness of the employees was great too. I recommend going here for smaller special occasions or if you can afford it!

Food was good but not great. The beef in the beef sukiyaki was over cooked and tough. The tuna on one of the rolls we ordered wasnt as fresh as it should be, and the avocado was brown. Service was okay, but waiter was rushing and not very attentive. Had to ask 3 times for a fork, and waited 10 minutes for the check to be brought over.

Ok so i go to alot of really good sushi places and this one has its pluses and negatives. Lets start with the pluses,Their open for indoor dining, negative theres no outdoor option.They have temperature scan and masks required for entry not vax card only. Double plusThey do offer take out n delivery (by mobile app)The staff are really nice and friendly.Negatives, the food is expensive and underwhelming, the rolls and sashimi portions were small and lacked flavor in general the saving grace was the blackened cod, they got that right but again same portion size and quality elsewhere for $7-10 cheaper.

Two stars (not one) because the manager came out to discount our bill and actively tried to remedy the situation. Thank you.Otherwise:1. Overpriced; small portions (e.g. $18 for a special roll, frankly it is the same as a normal roll elsewhere)2. Mediocre tasting; nothing special3. Incredibly slow. We came at opening time (5.30pm), were seated fairly quickly, but it took ~30 minutes for the food to arrive after ordering4. Waiter decided to argue with us: one of our dishes did not arrive, but apparently that was our fault because he claimed we never asked for it (We were over-charged for something else, but in fairness he corrected that straight away)So, not a good experience. Only mitigation is that we got a significant discount; but then taking that in to account I still cannot recommend. It is way overpriced

Great place for lunch and dinner. My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch. They were close to closing for the break between lunch and dinner but they let us in. We ordered the California sushi and tempura. Both excellent!! Nice ambiance and friendly staff but the food definitely won me over!! Note: Its probably wise to reserve a table for dinner. I noticed the staff placing reserved signs on several tables before we left.

Reasonably priced and excellent Japanese food for the family. The yakisoba is a big plate of noodles, veggies, and shrimp (or chicken) for less than $15 a plate. The place is clean, the staff is attentive, and it feels like the kind of family-owned restaurant that the locals have been coming to for years.

Its probably time for Robata to get an overhaul. The place looks dirty and dated, the food is not as good as it used to be, and the selection lacks variety at a time where Sushi chefs everywhere come up with new tastes and textures.

For a larger sushi place, its quite good. You would think that it lacks the charm that smaller places have but no, it has a nice ambiance and the food is very good. Ive been here a number of times and always enjoyed my visit. This is also one of the better sushi places for groups of people or a business lunch as it has the ability to accommodate.

Tried this out based on decent (not great) online reviews.Giant sushi bar where you are separated from the chefs by some sort of rock display. To cross the rocks, food is thrust at you on paddles.The point of this entirely escapes me. Doesnt make for the best atmosphere but not a big bad point either.Sushi - slightly below average. Fish is not the top grade. rice is sloppy and not well done. Pretty obvious they dont have an all-star sushi team.Prices - average, except for the quality I would put it a little high. Definitely no bargain even though the food looks and tastes like it should be.***Worst was the waitstaff. Apparently they have been trained to rush you out. I dont get this at all considering the bar was almost entirely empty. The rest of the large dining area had only about 10 customers. While there is still food on plates they are trying to take them away. Bill is presented awkwardly in front of you while you still have food and drinks. Then they kept checking to see if I put a credit card inside. No, we werent dawdling - dined in about 30-40 minutes.Btw, I didnt get the cooked plates but I couldnt understand the basis for those either. They ran in the low-20s, and looked like something from a diner.Not many options in Southern Marin but Ill definitely cross this off the list.

Robata is a long-time favorite of mine! Theyre super conveniently located beside the highway. The service is always friendly and attentive and all of their house specialty rolls are excellent! I love the big dining room and extra long sushi bar where you dont feel too close to your neighbors.

Very good sushi. Could use some improvement on customer service. I ordered two gluten free rolls and one was great but the other was not. When I let the water know he just took away the bad roll and brought us our check. Did not bring the correct roll until I flagged him down and asked him for it. Then it took forever to get it.

Im not sure why this place gets the reviews it does.... although I notice the average is under 4 stars, and on the three occasions Ive eaten here, possibly one of those times got close to 4 star-worthy.In general, the food here is workman-like -- not bad, not boring, but also not really noteworthy. I notice that all three times Ive been here, its been a business meal or a group-of-friends meal -- not a place Id ever go to as a destination or special dinner.You wont be disappointed eating here... but youll be wondering why you chose this place.

The more I go here, the more I love it. Friendly staff, a large enough dining room that you rarely wait if you need to go last minute. The sushi bar area is awesome... we love to sit there and watch the guys grill. The sushi is fantastic vs the price and other places.... (Sushi Ran doesnt even use sustainable practices so what are you paying for beyond showy-ness?). But its really the grill, and all the options and combos for delicious, fresh grilled veggies and meat.They are so warm and inviting, and albeit a little institutional, its a place I doubt I will get tired of. I am still searching for the best sushi in Marin (if you have an opinion, let me know), but this is a simple, fast, delicious, affordable way to have your sushi and eat it to.

Had dinner here, and was very disappointed. They dont just use too much rice in their rolls, they use waaaay too much. My soft shell crab roll had close to 1 rice around it, and tuna roll was similar. I couldnt finish the pair. The fish and other ingredients were tasty, but really got drowned out.

This site is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most.
