I injured myself while working out. I felt a sharp pain in the back of my neck, and experienced subsequent weakness and utter pain in my shoulder. A friend recommended Dr. Melikian, and he recommended (based on the MRI/xrays) cervical disc replacement surgery due to the weakness in my shoulder/arm which was caused by a pinched nerve. I was told that the fear was that this nerve would eventually die, and cause permanent injury. I got a second opinion, and everyone agreed with Dr. Melikian. I scheduled the surgery and it went really smoothly (got cervical disc replacement in 2 areas, as well as removing some calcification). The staff was helpful and friendly. Everyone at DISC was great. Dr. Melikian is a rockstar, and was super knowledgeable and made me feel super comfortable. As for surgery itself, I fell asleep and woke up feeling great. I actually felt much better the moment I work up, with no more pain. Recovery was quicker than expected, and now Im about 2 weeks post-surgery and I feel great. About to start physical therapy, and Im feeling really positive about this whole thing. Im glad I didnt wait. Thanks Dr. Melikian for making everything really smooth and stress-free! I highly recommend Dr. Melikian. He knows his stuff!

Dr. Melikian is very knowledgeable and takes time to evaluate his patients. He will fully explain the surgery process and recovery. Orthopedic doctor diagnosed my severe sciatic pain in the left leg was from herniated disc. Recommended treatment was discectomy or disc fusion. Decided to get second opinion. After extensive search, Dr. Melikian was the best choice since he had the most positive reviews. Dr. Melikian proposed micro decompression surgery for the two discs pinching my nerve. It was non invasive out patient surgery with quick recovery. The whole process from check in and prep to surgery was so comforting and handled in a professional manner. It’s been almost eight weeks now and I’ve got my life back thanks to Dr. Melikian and the fantastic team that took such good care of me.

I was uneasy with the treatment recommended by my original surgeon, a laminectomy. After talking to friends and researching, I sought a second opinion from Dr. Melikian.During the office consultation, he thoroughly went over my MRI and recommended microdecompression surgery with an option for BMAC injections. I opted for this surgery and the injections. He took all the time my wife and I needed during the office consultation to answer our questions. My first question was, what is the difference between these two approaches? He told me he likes to preserve as much of the structure as he can. This relieved my main concern with having back surgery. I felt confident with his recommendation and in his abilities. Surgery was scheduled for 09/13/23 at the DISC Surgery Center.On the day of the surgery everyone we met at the DISC Surgery Center, from the front desk, the nurses, and the doctors, was friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. Dr. Melikian and the anesthesiologist stopped by to talk to me while I was being prepped for surgery and when I was in recovery. After surgery, Dr. Melikian called my wife to let her know everything went well and to explain what to expect post-surgery.It’s now 10 days post-surgery. My pain level for the first 3 or 4 days is what I would describe as very uncomfortable rather than painful. There was occasional mild sciatica pain the first few days. Now all I have is a mild lower back ache. I had my first follow-up visit with Dr. Melikian today, I told him my back felt like it’s near 100% already. He reminded me to take it easy for another 2 or 3 weeks.Dr. Melikian is an excellent surgeon and everyone associated with his office and the DISC Surgery Center was just wonderful to interact with. It was definitely worth the drive from Bakersfield. I only wish I had seen Dr. Melikian 6 months sooner.Doyle Hibler

I had my lower back surgery done with Dr Melikian earlier this month and I cant be more greatfull of thier fantastic customer service and a professional minimal invasive surgery on my spine to get red of my ongoing sciatic nerve pain. Dr Melikian was very professional and precise on his diagnostics and explained the right approach to solve my problem. I am very pleased with my results and looking forward to a full recovery in few weeks. I would recommend Dr Melikian to anyone who needs any procedures done on their spine.

Cant imagine back surgery being as easy as mine. Dr. Melikian is a really great surgeon who really did a great job for me. My leg pains disappeared immediately and I was out of recovery and headed home within a few hours. By day two I was walking the dog, and within six weeks began running (a bit).. Dr. Melikian explains everything, does what he promises and is quick to answer even the most mindless questions.He has a great staff that works with you to get the operation scheduled, your pre-op appointments and everything else to help you get ready. The DISC operating suite in Playa Vista is clean and efficient (they provide a free catered lunch!). The nurses are amazingly caring .Back problems aint fun but if you have to have one, Dr. Melikian and Co. will take good care of you.

After injuring my lower back in 2017, I visited multiple Medical Specialists/Drs in an attempt to find relief from the constant back pain I had lived with since the injury. The pain level was an 8-9 on a scale of 10 and just trying to walk was a debilitating exercise, severely limiting my quality of life due to the pain.Dr. Melikian reviewed all of the X-Rays, MRIs and CT scans and suggested we try a minimally-invasive micro-decompression procedure with the goal of reducing my current pain level to a tolerable level.He did surgery on 8-9-2023.After surgery, I could tell immediately there was a big difference in the pain level. One week after the surgery, my current pain level is now a 2 and mostly localized around the surgery location. This surgery has been life changing for me.I would highly recommend Dr. Melikian for any Spine/Disc related medical issue.Dr. Melikian explains the good, the bad and the ugly to you in a way that helps you make the most logical medical decision for you based on your individual needs and goals.

Dr. Melikian is a master surgeon! My minimally-invasive microdiscectomy surgery couldnt have gone better. I was walking around the next day, and my sciatica is gone! Im so grateful to Dr. Melikian and his amazing staff at DISC, and I recommend him highly!

I initially met with Dr. Melikian about pain that was shooting down my leg after my chiro had me get an mri that showed some concerns. Dr. Melikian met with me 3 days later (my in network spine surgeon was 3 weeks out). He was kind, answered all my questions, explained everything in detail, and explained all my options. A few days later I had an Epidural.I emailed Cecilia a few questions and she and Dr. Melikian always responded really quickly. After seeking advice, i decided to schedule my L-5 S-1 fusion with Dr. Melikian even though he was out of network and was going to be much more expensive than if I went in network.They were very flexible on the date of the surgery. They not only told me exactly what to do to be ready for the surgery, but also helped me schedule some of the appointments (GP visit for physical, imaging, etc). They were awesome at communicating with the other doctors to get everything they needed prior to surgery.Because of the type of surgery, I also had to have a vascular surgeon perform some of the surgery. They introduced me to the vascular surgeon and set up a consult. That surgeon was also awesome. Super thorough consult with a great description of the entire surgery.Surgery day was a breeze. The surgery center and all the staff there were amazing. I was REALLY scared going in, but after the surgery I was amazed at how I felt. I have heard horror stories of this particular surgery from family and I didnt experience of those things. I am 9 days post surgery and I feel great.Dont bargain shop for spine and vascular surgeons. Thats stupid. Get the best. Its way important than a car, house, or private school. You get what you pay for, pay for the best.Dr. Melikian is hands down the best. I will update this review in a few months.

From the moment I stepped into Dr. Melikians office Cecilia at the Front Desk made me feel at ease. My experiences with Drs have not been pleasant but Dr. Melikian showed real attention to what I had to say and explained his opinion and had confident solutions to my problems. I highly recommend Dr. Melikians expertise in the area of lower back pain. At the beginning of June, he performed a microdecompression surgery on my spine (L4-L5) at the Marina Del Rey facility. What a fantastic experience with Dr Melikian in 2023! I am still ecstatic with my results and treatment from the back surgery performed. After a very painful experience in 2012 with the a similar surgery that took 6 hours and a painful recovery that included a week in the hospital and a 6 incision with a different surgeon, I was extremely hesitant to consider another back surgery when my symptoms resurfaced in 2023. I tried conservative methods for treatment (chiropractor, acupuncture, meds, patches) to no avail. Although skeptical, I decided to consult with Dr. Melikian who I researched and found online. Upon meeting his awesome staff, particularly Cecilia who goes above and beyond to make you comfortable, and Dr. Melikian, I knew I was in the right place. Dr. Melikian calmly and with confidence created a game plan and answered all of my questions. I had the consultation, x-rays, mri, and surgery done in the same facility. They handled all of my health insurance questions, making everything seamless. When he informed me that surgery would take a mere 45 min or so, and that I would be walking and going home the day of surgery, I literally thought he was joking. Bottom line, it was all true. The surgery was flawless, I was walking without pain minutes after...I was extremely grateful. Take it from me, a 54 year old who suffered with back and leg pain and avoided a 2nd surgery for years due to a previous negative experience, Dr. Melikian and staff improved my quality of life!

I met with several surgeons over four years of receiving conservative treatment for herniated cervical discs before ultimately choosing Dr. Melikian for my disc replacement. Dr. Melikian actually takes the time to order new scans and explain your options so you can feel confident about making an informed choice. His medical assistant, Cecilia, is incredibly helpful and made the process of booking and preparing for surgery seamless.This was my first time staying overnight after a procedure and the surgery center was amazing. Its calm and quiet and would be a great option for people who are anxious in a medical setting. You get a private room with a TV, the food is great, and all the nurses are very attentive and kind. Having an overnight stay also made me feel more confident in my ability to manage the rest of my recovery at home. Dr. Melikian did an excellent job on my surgery and recovery was actually less painful than having my tonsils out. I was off painkillers and moving around in about a week; Im now a month into recovery and things are pretty much back to normal.My scar is only about an inch long and I already feel so much better. The replacement discs he used are a newer design with minimal metal so they interfere less with future MRI scans. I highly recommend Dr. Melikian to anyone dealing with back or neck pain, my recovery was easy and my neck feels great.

Upon first meeting he demonstrated extremely good bedside manners and was very friendly and personable.Listened attentively and interacted in our conversation with patience and concern as I described my condition/symptoms.All questions that both my wife and I had, Dr. Melikian answered thoroughly and in terms that both of us could understand. He came across to me as very, very confident in what to expect but not in an arrogant way. Dr Melikian outlined the approach he thought best for my condition and that started conservatively by 1)doing nothing or 2) Physical Therapy, which is the approach I started with (I feel I made the best attempt by doing PT for 5-6 weeks prior to my procedure, but not all my symptoms went away). 3) was via steroid injection but to me this approach seemed like a band-aid. And 4), Surgery of course being the last resort, seemed like the best approach for a long term outcome. Prior to and after visiting Dr. Melikian I did schedule appointments with other very good spine doctors in the LA area and they all suggested the L4/L5 Micro Decompression procedure to address my condition. So the consensus was pretty clear to me that doing the surgery would possibly provide me the best outcome - especially with the concurrence from 3-4 spinal surgeons.I want to mention that my 5 star review also is a reflection of Dr. Melikian’s admin staff (Cecilia-Med assistant & Noor - Insurance/finance contact) His staff was amazing! They are cordial, friendly and extremely responsive to questions and inquiries. I feel the difference between a good doctor and a great one can hinge on his support staff! I also want to include a quick shout out to Dr. Melikian’s surgical support staff at the Surgical Center/Hoag Orthopedic Inst. - all of them were very supportive and very attentive to my pre & post-surgery recovery - especially Ari! Thanks!We all have choices in life, and of all the spinal surgeons I visited, some were in-network and some out-of network and in most cases I think most would choose an in-network doctor, but for my insurance Dr. Melikian is out-of network. Contacting Dr. Rojeh Melikian was one of the best decisions I made. After many attempts of trying to cure my aching back, I reached out to Dr. Melikian for some relief. He explained to me the cause of my pain and detailed the microdiscectomy procedure he was going to be performing. He was very honest, caring, and professional. After my procedure, not only has my pain subsided, I once again have gained the ability to perform daily functions. He listened to me carefully, explained my condition and potential solutions thoroughly, gave me time and space to process the information and make a decision on which path to take, and once I was ready for surgery he did an incredible job. I was referred to Dr. Melikian by my pain management physician. The thought of back surgery was very concerning but after my first consultation with Dr. Melkian, my mind was eased. This was accomplished by first, Dr. Melikians impressive education and training built my confidence; secondly, the time he took to explain my injury, the surgery needed (Microdiscectomy) and recover process and in terms I could understand. His staff was incredible at how they communicated and facilitated my pre-operative clearance. There were no surprises and everything went as I was told it would. The day of surgery my confidence was further boosted when the pre-surgical nurses endorsed Dr. Melikian as a VERY good surgeon. Finally, post surgery recovery has been exactly as Dr. Melikian explained it would be and I am completely pain free after two weeks. He and his staff have checked in on me regularly and my recovery is amazing friends and family. I highly recommend Dr. Melikian to anyone needing a spine surgeon.

Dr. Melikian is the man with the plan.I was diagnosed with a herniated disc (L5-S1) which I needed removed for conservative treatment options did not provide significant relief. After meeting with Dr. Melikian and finding out that I was a good candidate for surgery, the scheduling and the process of getting towards that date began.One great thing about Dr. Melikian is that he knew I wanted this surgery ASAP and made the surgery begin in a matter of weeks which was stressful but needed for I have been wanting to get this issue addressed and out of the way. His team did excellent work in making sure I was at the right place(s) at the right time(s) to do all of my pre op stuff all before the surgery date.I am the kind of person that does not like surprises especially when it comes to billing. Because of this, the billing person ensured me that I was covered, and gave me an estimate of the total cost of surgery so there would be no surprises afterwards (which there wasnt my deductible and remaining cost that I owed reflected everything that was said by the billing person).The surgery date finally came and upon driving into the surgery center I was blown away by the architectural design. This surgery center was beautiful. The people at the surgery center from the front desk, to my pre/post op nurses, anesthesiologist, everyone in the building were kind, funny and extremely helpful and made sure I was comfortable by addressing any of my concerns and providing me with what I needed to make this experience nothing but positive.Post surgery Dr. Melikian provided me w/ a clear outline verbally and written (post surgery packet) including information in terms of what I can expect and what I can/cant do. He also provided me with the appropriate medication before and after the surgery which kept the pain at a minimum. His confidence towards spine surgery/issues has changed my outlook drastically for people who are not doctors deem spine surgery as the worst kind of surgery that anyone can get which is no where near the case.Even after writing all of this I am still at a lost for words. I am now in my fourth week of recovery, which has been a speedy recovery which is a pure testament to his work.All I have to say is if you are skeptical of choosing the right doctor for you and your back problems dont be. Just see Dr. Melikian. Whether you got your injury from action sports, however, you know Dr. Melikian is legit if he has red bull on his card. Do not settle for less, his credentials/awards speak for themselves, you do not have to read anymore reviews, just see and meet w/ Dr. Melikian.btw I am a tough person to impress genuinely. Seven weeks ago I had a microdiscectomy on L5-S1 by Dr. Melikian. It wasn’t a big herniation, but it was sitting on my sciatic nerve which completely disabled me for about 5 months. I tried everything else, but it became clear I was going to have to have surgery. Everything went off without a hitch and I haven’t had a single moment of pain after recovering from the procedure. Things were getting pretty dark for me, I don’t know where I’d be now if I hadn’t gone to see Dr. M.Bottom line: If you can manage your pain without surgery, that’s great! If you cannot manage, I strongly recommend you consider the recommendations of Dr. Melikian. I’m not exaggerating when I say Dr. M and his surgery skills gave me a new lease on life. Thank you!

I have been dealing with neck and upper back pain that extended into my right shoulder and down my arm for pretty much the last decade. Herniated discs, spinal stenosis, cervical radiculopathy, spinal cord compression (thankfully without symptoms)—these words dominated my 30’s and 40’s. I have seen eight different spine surgeons in LA—orthopedic and neuro—as well as a handful of physical therapists, chiropractors, and physiatrists. Among this cast of characters were some highly decorated, highly recommended practitioners, who would look at my imaging, listen to me describe my symptoms, and then tell me something completely different from the last doctor I saw (who was also supposedly “the best.”) It was super frustrating.Until I saw Dr. Melikian. I think my appointment with him might have been the first one that didn’t end with me crying in my car afterwards. He seemed like a *real person* who saw me as a *real person* too. He asked me what I did for a living, asked how old my kids were (I seriously don’t think any of the previous surgeons EVER asked me that simple question!), and he listened intently. Does he remember the answers to those questions? Probably not, but I don’t even care, because his bedside manner is phenomenal! He’s also clearly knowledgeable about developments in spine therapeutics and technology, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the different implants (but in no way tried to sell me on a particular product, which I felt a previous doctor did do.) Dr. Melikian spent time going over my imaging, gave me plenty of time to ask questions, and gave an objective assessment of the condition of my spine. He didn’t dismiss or minimize, but he also didn’t try to scare me or pressure me. (He even made me laugh—if you want someone with a real sense of humor, he’s your guy!)But the most important thing he gave me, that no one else had given me yet, was simple: hope. Not false hope for perfection, but just realistic hope that he could actually help me feel better.I’m writing this review with tears of gratitude in my eyes, one week to the day after having a two disc replacement (c4-5 and c5-6). I woke up from the surgery as many others do, “pain-free,” but I knew I was on a ton of drugs and didn’t want to get my hopes up. I didn’t trust that the nothingness I felt in my right arm would stay once the narcotics wore off. (So I got off them as fast as I could!) All I can say is, so far, so good, and the hope is still going strong. My muscles and nerves are still recovering, but I just had my first post-op appointment (also satisfyingly thorough) and all is normal and progressing as expected.Everyone at the surgery center in Marina Del Rey was fabulous, by the way—the nurses, OR nurse, nerve monitor, and anesthesiologist (I forget his name, started with an “A”, but I got a rockstar there, too!) It was obvious they all held Dr. Melikian in high regard, too, and I felt secure, safe, and cared for, all around. (And I dont want to forget Cecilia, his assistant...she is competent and wonderful, too!)I can’t believe that I waited as long as I did for this surgery, but I’m also glad I did, because it happened at the right time and place, with the right doctor. While ADR still seems like a young-ish procedure, even if something weird happens, or I have a new pain flare-up, or I need a subsequent surgery later on at a different level or something, I will go wherever Dr. M. is. He has my complete trust, and my spine is (literally!) in his hands from now on. I wouldn’t have found my way to him without these reviews, so maybe this will help someone else find him (and some hope!), too.

I had the most incredible experience with Dr. Melikian and his entire staff. From the moment I reached out to his office, I’ve only experienced professional, attentive care. The nurses and scheduling staff were so prompt, resourceful, and kind. Dr. Melikian has an incredible bedside manner. He truly breaks down your problem in layman’s terms, then offers 3-4 solutions, based upon your comfort level. He is optimistic, yet honest. I never felt confused, nor overwhelmed. I’ve been terrified of having back surgery my entire life. And he took all that fear away after one office visit. The day of the surgery, I was so impressed with the caring nature of the nursing staff. It was such a warm, confident feeling to have going into a surgery. When I awoke, they had purchased delicious food from a nearby restaurant… they made sure I was happy, and not in pain. Within a day of the surgery, I was already feeling better than I had felt in months. I burst into tears, because the sharp numbing pain I endured for six months was finally gone. I’m forever grateful for everyone at Dr. Melikian’s office. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Melikian for any spinal issue!! I promise you’ll be in great hands, if not, the best hands.

Dr. Melikian is absolutely the best Dr. I’ve ever had. For 20 years due to lower back injury, I suffered from daily and nightly pain. Before I went to Dr. Melikian I hadn’t slept more than 4 hours at a time. I had heard stories about people and their lower back surgeries and was willing to try to tough it out. Once my pain at L3, L4 had to be addressed I googled, Best lower back surgeon.” Well, Dr. Melikian was my man. He not only gave me all my opinions, he never pressured me either way. We decided that surgery was the best option. His calm demeanor and professionalism gave me all the confidence I needed. He used the LTIF procedure which is an awesome lateral approach to replace my ruptured disc. I was up and walking an hour later. I spent 23 hours at DISC surgery center which was like staying at the Hilton. I am 57 years old and my back has never felt better! It will take 9 to 12 months to fully fuse but after 1 week I was feeling better than I had felt in 20 years. I recommend Dr. Melikian with all my being. I highly recommend Dr. Melikian if you are suffering from debilitating back pain or neck pain and want to consider surgery to fix the problem, rather than just take pain pills and go in for pain injections which will never actually fix the root cause of your pain.I was in a car accident in the later half of 2020 in which the force of the accident caused a significant (and very painful) herniated disc in my L5/S1. I had severe pain in my lower back and buttocks area. Just as worse, I had complications in my feet from the herniated disc compressing the nerve endings in the L5/S1 region, causing my feet, toes and ankles to experience severe numbness and weakness. I also had partial paralysis in my toes, which is very scary to say the least. Although I could still walk (barely) after my accident, I was effectively a person with a disability with not a lot of hope to live a normal life by my standards, as I greatly enjoy hiking in the mountains and swimming and snorkeling in the ocean.After months of suffering, I decided to take charge of my life and explore the option of having back surgery. After doing extensive research on my own, I concluded Dr. Melikian was one of the best spine surgeons in all of Los Angeles. His educational experience and spine surgery training is world class and he has years and years of experience performing numerous back surgeries and neck surgeries.Dr. Melikian has compassion for his patients and will spend the necessary time with you prior to your surgery to ensure you are comfortable and understand the surgery to be performed. He will take whatever time is necessary to answer ALL of your questions prior to your surgery.Ultimately, Dr. Melikian performed a successful microdiscectomy surgery on my L5/S1 herniated disc towards the end of 2020.I am currently on the road to recovery and I am in physical therapy in a post-surgery world and I feel I am steadily getting better week by week. The severe levels of pain I was experiencing in my lower back are now gone and only moderate levels of pain remain, which I am very confident will subside over time. My feet and ankles are much better now. I recently had a microdisectomy of the L4-5 vertebrae. Dr. Melikian was excellent from start to finish. He was informative, clear about both the specific problem I had with a herniated disc (the same one for the third time), and expert in the procedure itself. I limped into his office in enormous pain, even after trying an epidural, and left the operating facility in Newport Beach with no pain in my leg. Ill be referred out to physical therapy soon. I don’t even know where to begin. Dr Melikian is hands down the best in his profession. I had a work injury and was trying to be seen everywhere. All the big names and practices in Orange County did not even return my calls after multiple attempts. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Melikian, and that is the best thing that ever happened to me. Somehow, I got his direct cell phone number. Not only did he take my call and the time to listen to me, he ensured his assistant would follow up and get me taken care of. I was able to schedule an X-Ray and MRI in the same complex with immediate results available to the Dr Melikian.Upon every follow up visit, Dr. Melikian not only remembered me, despite my face mask, he noticed how my progress was improving, He legitimately cares for his patients and wants what is best for them. Since I am limited on the amount and extent of the review to truly do Dr. Melikian service, I will say I was told one thing by the 4 top neurosurgeons and spinal specialists chosen by me after extensive research which was a 3 level fusion and, although I was in high risk for potential paralysis, this procedure was never a consideration for me. After extensive research, I called and consulted Dr. Melikian. Keep in mind I was in excruciating daily pain and not sleeping more than 3 hours a day for months while experiencing a migraine at least every other day where I couldnt stand up. This review is long over due for a doctor who has given me a level of care that goes above and beyond anything I thought was possible.My story and experience goes as follows. I was diagnosed in 2015 with spondylolisthesis with a slipped vertebrae of L5 S1. My previous doctor had diagnosed me, and after 3 years of conservative treatment my condition got worse. I noticed at my job I was having severe nerve pain shooting down my leg and my foot was going numb. I figured I needed another injection and my previous doctor said that it was time for surgery since nerve pain like this isn’t going to get better on its own. He said my career as a hairstylist should probably end since it will only make the surgical outcome with less than hopeful odds. Getting pregnant put me at risk for nerve compression and drop foot and wouldn’t be advised unless I had a fusion. I was terrified, and even more so because I was getting married in 10 months. At the peak of my symptoms, I could barely walk and my doctor/his office didn’t seem to care. I felt hopeless, depressed and terrified that my wedding day would consist of me white knuckling the experience till I could have surgery.After seeing some of the top spine surgeons, I left with a gut feeling that something just didn’t feel right. Dr. Melikian performed my L4-5 XLIF and L4-5 Bilateral Microdecompression surgery three months ago. Prior to surgery I was suffering from severe Sciatic pain down both legs. Standing, walking and sitting for any length of time was extremely painful. After surgery, which was performed at Marina del Ray Hospital, I was up and walking the same day with the help of hospital staff. I have had no sciatic pain since surgery and am healing very well. Able to walk 6 miles and ride exercise bike 6 miles per day, most normal activities have been resumed with the exception of lifting and extreme bending.I would recommend Dr. Melikian to anyone. I did my homework searching for someone to evaluate my neck pain and numbness several years ago. Dr Melekian was one of the top two. He was thorough and conservative in his approach. Exactly the same diagnosis as the other top surgeon. However there was something special about him. He spent the time, asking, are there any more questions, there was that “ i care” in his eyes I can’t explain. I already knew his qualifications were top. A few years later when my symptoms progressed and Accupuncture etc no longer relieved the symptoms and I began losing my grip, strength, use of my hand, I returned to him for a visit. He told me we could approach it conservatively, but….. now this was during Covid, the hospital were not accepting non urgent patients. When I made the decision, I said should we wait until the hospitals open, he looked at me over the mask and said very quietly “no”. I knew then, it was the right choice to do it now. Im a retired RN, and have been to many suregeon consult who opt for the quick fix. This is not Dr Melekian.A long way to say. I never even went to the other surgeon for a second ( and he is one of the best in LA). I knew i was in the best hands. My surgery went smoothly, my outcome is great, there are no complications, he is available at anytime. I would give him 10 stars if I could.And i was hesitant to go to a small hospital overnight. I was in the absolute worst pain in my life, I knew i had herniated a disc worse than ever before. I had sciatica pain so bad I couldn’t function. I was in the Cedars MDR ER on A Friday in the end of April 2018, Dr Melikian came to me to see what was going on. With in minutes, he already knew how bad it was and wanted me in his office across the street at DISC Sports on Monday. Being a long time Los Angeles Kings fan, have known of the great work DISC does and work with the team. We met with him on Monday, and he had me into surgery with in the next week. I had 2 discs herniated, one very badly. I was up walking the next day after surgery!! The medical technology he uses is incredible. Those prior weeks before meeting Dr Melikian, I was scared, real scared. The pain was excruciating, and I was not sure which way to turn. He not only fixed the discs, he also removed all the scar tissue from my prior surgery. I can’t thank him enough and the wonderful staff at DISC. They don’t treat you like a patient, they treat you like family. I highly recommend him and his staff, to anyone needing spinal care.

I was seeing a pain management doctor, and had had a series of 3 Epidurals and had 2 Sacroiliac injections. None of these injections helped my excruciating pain in my legs and lower back. I give Dr. Melikian (10) out of 5 stars, hes been awesome.I learned I had a herniated disc (t7/t6) a few months ago. I was referred to Dr. Melikian at the SPINE center, and he has been very kind and helpful from the beginning. He educated me about the different therapies that are indicated for herniated discs; steroid shots, physical therapy, surgery, etc. It was very helpful to have a surgeon provide an objective array of information without being overly enthusiastic about surgery.I chose to move forward with surgery ASAP (after I had vetted the doctor and had conversations with other doctors), and he was able to get me on the schedule 2 weeks later. The hospital in Marina Del Ray was really nice, clean, all the nurses there were incredibly friendly.The surgery went well without any issues. The doctor came in to check on me shortly after I woke up. He was very attentive. He made himself available to me after surgery, hes been extremely responsive and has helped me feel comfortable throughout this process. Also, I heard his office worked on Harrison Ford after his helicopter crash last year so OBV youre going to be in good hands!

I’m getting up in age but still decided to spend a day moving heavy objects on and off of my boat which threw out my back. The following day my back was in pain. A fellow worker reccomended the DISC Sports & Spine Center in Newport Beach and specified Dr. Melikian. I called the office and told them of my pain and they wanted to schedule a week out. That would not work so I spoke with Dr. Melikian’s assistant Cecilia and conveyed my situation. Cecilia spoke with Dr. Melikian and Dr. Melikian said he would drive up from LA to see me the following day. Cecilia set up my appt. the next day which included X-rays before my appt. The complete process couldn’t of been easier. The X-Rays were steps from Dr. Melikians well appointed professional office. Dr Melikian was a Saint. He had a great bedside manner and best of all my pain subsided that evening and I was 100% in about a week. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Melikian. After seeing another spine surgeon about my neck, who spent very little time with me and left me quite shocked and discouraged with a lot of questions, I was fortunately referred to Dr. Melikian. He was a distance from my home, but well worth the drive. The difference in his approach, explaining everything and spending an hour with me was so comforting and so different from my previous experience. I can honestly say by the time I had ACDF surgery, I was so confident in him that I was not even nervous. The surgery was successful and after a week I felt pretty good. I had no real pain, just some initial fatigue post surgery, some discomfort with a sore throat and swallowing.. I only relied on my pain medication a few days. There is a long recovery, but it is doable.In conclusion, I could not recommend a better spine surgeon, who also happens to be very patient with my endless questions, very personable, and with a good sense of humor to boot.

In 2017 my husband had a hip replacement. But for no perceivable reason, he was incapable of completing his physical therapy. I started experiencing mild back pain in my mid-teens and this condition became progressively worse over the years. I am a very active road cyclist averaging about 7,000 miles a year but it has been more and more difficult to ride because of my back pain. As a result, I’ve been treated by Physical Therapists, Pain Specialists and received spinal injections and radio frequency ablation from 2012 until 2018. I am writing this review about the 5 star customer service I received. First, a very excellent doctor Dr, Rojeh Melikian M.D. & staff needs to be known. I had Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion surgery I was impressed with Sarvi who booked all my appointments to Noor that handle all my insurance needs...in which she never drop the ball.And the most important of all Dr Rojeh Melikian M.D. explained the whole process of the operation . I was very scared to do the surgery. However, the staff and the doctor comfort me not to worry .I would strongly refer any person to Dr Rojeh Mekilian M.D. for this kind surgery. Last, I was very impressed and amazed how spotless-clean the the facilities were and the professionalism of all the nurses . Dr Melikian was very personable and answered all my questions before and after my surgery. I am very pleased with my neck/ spine surgery and the underlying symptoms are much better. I highly recommend him and the staff at Marina Del Ray hospital.

Dr. Melikian saw me for a T5 fracture in my spine and was awesome. So many doctors rush the consultations and have a foot out the door the entire time. Not the case with Rojeh.He repeatedly asks what other questions can I answer for you. As a patient, that patience means the world and allows you to leave the office feeling confident with answers and clear direction.

I hurt myself almost two years ago, I had a lot of pain, numbness, and tingling in my left leg. every day for almost two years I had tremendous stress because of it. my primary doctor kept me on a conservative treatment of pills, muscle relaxers, but there was not much success. Three months ago the pain became 10/10, I couldnt walk, I couldnt sit, I couldnt lie down, and the worst thing I couldnt sleep, the pain at night was the worst. I spent almost 2 months sleeping 1-2 hours a day. Only those who have been through this situation will understand, it is a horrible pain. I contacted Dr. Melikian and he was very kind and professional in answering all my questions. When I arrived at his office, I only had strength in one leg, the right one. After checking the MRI and x-rays, he recommended minimal invasive spine surgery microdiscectomy. The Doctor and his entire team were very kind and professional to me throughout the entire process. The surgery was at 7am and in the afternoon I was home with my family. As soon as I woke up from the anesthesia I felt almost no pain, it’s been two weeks since the surgery and the pain is almost completely gone. I am very grateful to Dr. Melikian and his entire team.Thank you.

I had lumbar fusion surgery 3 years ago and went to three different Drs after to get to the bottom of horrible pain in the same area. In our consult as Dr. Melikian saw how I was moving and where the pain was, he asked if anyone had looked at the actual fusion since the surgery. He looked at a CT scan I had a year and a half ago and immediately saw the culprit. A screw on the right side of the fusion was loose and pinching me! None of these other Drs even thought of looking at the fusion. I am now recovering from outpatient hardware removal! Cecilia in his office is amazing!
