I’ve had Hainanese Chicken Rice in so many different places, but imagine my surprise to get one so pure, clean and delicious as the one at the little Rooster & Rice Pleasanton location! The plate was ready almost as soon as I finished paying, and the quality was out of this world! Tender, succulent chicken, fragrant and savory rice, super clean broth, and the dipping sauce was addictive. I only wish we had one of these in Monterey, CA!

I visited this place for the first time for a box with a big piece of chicken with jasmine rice. Chicken is very tender and juicy. Seasoning is perfect. Rice is not dry, its pleasant texture when i put a spoonful into my mouth. The sauce comes with it made the dish even more enjoyable. The small cup of chicken soup is simple and tasty. The service is quick and efficient. The place is small, but eating place was very clean. Highly recommend.

First time trying this spot! Ain’t going to lie the dish looked a different but I’m not disappointed. Tasty meal! Soup that came with reminded me of a Filipino soup dish👌

3 stars. A chain restaurant it seems. Basic chicken menu . We had 3 originals and 1 veg without rice. Clean and plain chicken, that’s where the ginger sauce comes in. Simple and basic light lunch. No frills. As always post wherever your palate takes you.

This place was outstanding. I got the original and you can really taste the chicken flavor in the rice, broth and the chicken. Love to see places with a simple menu and actually cooking in their kitchen.

I had the pleasure of dropping by this little hole in the wall going home and man do I regret not finding this place sooner. Its rather small but the smells coming from inside were amazing. I ordered the original, which had the chicken and rice with this amazing garlic and ginger sauce and a side of veggies.You wont regret coming here. The flavors were absolutely perfect and the containers they store the food in is environmentally friendly.

If this dish can be this good in a chain, how good is it in Thailand? Succulent rice topped with tender, delicate chicken, and broth thats like the best wonton soup. Only 14 seats inside, but it moves quickly and makes excellent takeaway. Drinks include Thai iced tea and coffee, cane sugar Coke, Fanta, and Sprite, milk soda, and coconut water, all $3. The sriracha sauce is not the rooster style, less sweet, and the habanero sauce is excellent.

Absolutely delicious, I practically inhaled my serving of chicken rice. Similar to hainanese chicken rice or singapore chicken rice, the thai chicken rice features moist chicken over fragrant chicken rice, slices of cucumber, topped with cilantro and comes with a side serving of chicken broth and mixed soy sauce condiment. The soy sauce mix contains minced ginger and bean. The basic chicken rice serving is $10.95 with a mix of dark and white meat, if you request all dark meat, it will cost $1 extra. The place only seats 12, so it is mainly a take-out place. There are health conscious options such as tofu and brown rice. I think i can eat this twice a week. 😆

Food was great! Definitely a Thai spin on the traditional chicken and rice plate. The chicken meat was a good amount. The white breast meat was a little on the dry side, but it was very lean and the sauce was fantastic! The habanero sauce they have added just the right amount of spicy kick as well. The accompanying soup was also delicious and light. Just what I needed on a rainy day.I also appreciated the fact that their packaging was mostly compostable. Thats not often seen outside of the SF/Oakland areas. The only downside is the tiny size of this restaurant. I ended up taking my food to go because there were no seats available when I came at lunch on a Saturday. The place seats 12 max if everyone doesnt mind the close proximity of seating.

Simple fair with not a lot of choices. But you know sometimes when you are good at one thing you should stick to it and this is Rooster and Rice. Skinless chicken was moist and tasty, brown rice was not hard or overcooked. Broth soup was obviously from cooking the chickens and was also good. Sauces added that nice little bit to put it over the top.
