I get a full waffle about 2-3 times a month…and it’s usually really good size and tasty…until last Friday 😱When I got home, my wife was really surprised to see that 1/4 waffle was missing …and fruit was scares as well…tasted like old stale and burnt product.Emailed the provided customer service and didn’t hear anything back until today…with a lame excuse ( we’ve been busy)…and no resolution…I think that Costco has Belgium waffles that will replace my Rooted cravings and trips…for half the price

I stopped in at Rooted for a quick breakfast and coffee with a friend. Esa was amazing and patiently explained the ingredients and prep to ensure no gluten cross contamination for celiac restrictions. The avocado toast was amazing and it was a pleasant morning on the patio.

My order was ready exactly when they projected to be. I was picking up an Avocado toast with the smashed chickpeas salad on top. I’ve had their toast a number of times but this was my first try with this version. Gotta say it’s my new favorite! The red pepper flakes add a perfect little kick. The dish is filling and all my coworkers were asking where I got it from! I also picked up a maple doughnut; one of the best I’ve ever had.. and I have high doughnut standard.

Amazing little coffee shop gem set in a beautiful, quaint neighborhood in Pleasant Hill. Delicious coffee and quick, healthy breakfast options, many gluten-free offerings, very friendly (and stylish) staff, and chill music! What’s not to love? I’m obsessed with their GF waffles with nut butters and fruit topped on them.I’d complain about the lack of indoor seating but the weather in the area is often so nice it’s no problem to sit outside if you can find a place.

This is a very odd little gem of a café. Long lines for an experience of eating breakfast in a parking lot. No indoor seating in the establishment just in the parking lot. Very crowded at 10:30 on a Friday morning. Lots of strollers. Apparently this is the place to be. Gluten-free waffles and donuts is an excellent way to fill up a parking lot and we enjoyed it but it got to be so loud and chaotic with dogs and kids and strollers That we chose to take a walk around the neighborhood. I figured this would be a coffee house but instead they just offered drip coffee which was fine.

What can I say other than WOW? I tried the yogi waffle and the lemon blueberry waffle. Both were spectacular but the lemon blueberry was my favorite. Best vegan waffles in the east bay. Also tried the summers dream toast (avocado toast with tomatoes and cucumber) and avacado dream toast. The summers dream toast was delicious. Everything tastes so fresh, I cant believe I hadnt tried ROOTED sooner. There was a bit of a wait because its a popular place, but there was a great outdoor dining area to sit and relax.

Very cozy place with limited outdoor seating but great food and coffee. I tried one of the avocado toasts and it was absolutely delicious!!! The iced coffee was also delicious and I will be back to try the pastries. Totally recommend it! 👌🏼

I am a long time rooted tribe member out of pleasant hill but this was my first time at the walnut creek location. It was clean, friendly, ascetically pleasing and had a great crowd. Everything Ive come to expect from Rooted my only complaint is they didnt have more hats I could buy!

I love this place! 100% vegan coffee shop?! Yes please! Im lactose intolerant, so for me to go to a place like this and be able to eat and drink anything on the menu is awesome! Plus, I love small businesses. I ordered a mocha and a classic waffle. It was so amazing with fresh fruit on top! The coffee is great too! Yum! 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Id recommend ordering ahead as it can get busy, but this is a great spot. Im not the biggest fan of non-dairy creamers but rooted is slowly turning me into one. The coffee is great and the foods outstanding, worth the price and potential wait.

This is a weekend favorite of ours to indulge!If you have celiac disease, you do need to be careful to read the ingredients and order the gluten free donuts to be put in a separate container from gluten donuts to prevent cross-contamination.Everything in the menu is truly tasty!

What a cute little coffee nook!Came here today for a meetup. I got the Strawberry Lemonade and split a maple donut with my friend. The employees were super kind, plenty of seating, they really made the most of their area and turned the wall into a seating area and the tree stumps in the parking lot into tables. There were also regular tables. Super cute and I would definitely come back.

This place is a dream! Everything is so delicious - definitely my favorite coffee or breakfast spot. Service is reliably friendly and they are relatively quick (though they can be verrry busy at peak times, just like anywhere else, and worth the wait). Online ordering is great for those in a rush. We’ve had everything from coffee, cardamom lattes, lavender matcha lattes, waffles of all kinds, avocado toasts (thick bread and generous toppings - “Make it Fresh” is my favorite). Donuts. Parfaits. It’s ALL delightful! Specialty drinks can be a little sweet, but they’ll modify accordingly. Everything is vegan, yet still a crowd pleaser even for our “meat and potatoes” loved ones. It’s a little spendy, but the quality more than justifies the price.

This place has a heart to serve people and thats what keeps me coming back every so often. The coffee is good but not the best Ive ever had. Ive also bought whole beans and they definitely could improve the roasts. The pastries are pretty good. And the location aesthetics are a win. I would recommend this to someone attempting to stay healthy or even someone cutting weight or even some of my vegan friends in need of coffee and pastries because they have a very healthy and vegan friendly menu overall.

I’m in love with everything about this place. Super friendly staff, lots of parking, fantastic selection. The dirty chai latte is so good. Not too sweet, not too spicy. Everything is dairy free 🙌🏻 and the waffles are so delicious. I have a feeling I’ll be spending a lot of time here! The only downside is I wish they had a little more seating/bigger space because it can get crazy crowded. Don’t let that stop you from going, grab your latte and hit the nearby trail for a walk. All of their cups, utensils, plates are compost-able!

Love love love. Were not vegan diet wise (tho we do believe in humanely treating your food to be in a respectful way plant or animal wise) but wow this place is so good!! If you want plant-based stuff this is a great location for it even if youre typically not into 100% plant-based stuff- just give it a try anyway because they are incredibly talented at appealing to the taste buds. Amazing coffee and amazing food. Great for something quick to go or for something chill and relaxing while hanging out. Both of their locations in pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek are truly solid establishments.

The coffee offerings were interesting. I got the maple cardemom latte. However, didnt really taste much maple. Mostly cardemom. Also got a cappuccino, which was decent. It was breakfast, so picked up this matcha waffle. The waffle included banana, strawberry, and chocolate drizzle. For 50 cents extra, I added hemp seeds for crunch. The waffle was dry and wasnt appetizing. The syrup offered at the counter was Kirkland. The waffle didnt have much matcha flavor either. I didnt get any of the savory food items but I wouldnt come here for any of the food. I also wouldnt go out of my way to go to this coffee spot. However, if you live in the neighborhood, this is better than the big box options. The shop is tight so not much lounge space so really its more of a quick stop.

There are plenty of eggs and bacon breakfast places to go to, I appreciate there being a quality alternative in the area. Id give them 5 stars, but Ive only been once and it did take a little longer than expected while being moderately busy. I usually only review a local place after going at least 3 times, but this spot is on a short list of quality plant-based options.The balance of the avocado toast was exceptional. A little heat, crunch and acidity on a thick slice of bread. The waffle could have been better if I hadnt taken it home to eat, so Ill have to pass judgement on that at a later time. I did enjoy the vanilla mint latte, and general friendly vibe. Will be going back.

Great place! Everyone was really nice and friendly. Outstanding customer service. My Classic Waffle with strawberries, bananas, and syrup was delicious. The mocha latte was very good as well. Not a very big shop as far as square footage nor did they have a large food menu, but thats not a big issue for me. What they do, they do it right. Its a little out of the way for me, but Ill definitely be back. Plus, military discount. Bonus! I definitely appreciate places that appreciate us.

I almost did not get the non dairy but I am glad because it was an excellent cappuccino. I ended up here by accident. Im no vegan. I almost left as I couldnt imagine a cappuccino without actual milk. I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie and it was the best Ive ever had. Coffee was excellent too.Ive been back several times and always a good experience. today I forgot to ask for a drink for my two year old, and when my coffee showed up my little girl was upset. they immediately made her a steamed milk. I was very impressed by their selection of food and drinks and then learned that they’re all plant based and have many gluten free foods (like all of the waffles are gluten free) as well. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Everything was delicious, and you wouldn’t know it was completely plant based unless someone told you. The girl who rang us up asked us how our day was going so far, which was a very thoughtful touch. You can also order ahead online through their website to skip the line (we went on a Friday morning and there was a 10 min line and 10 min wait).

This is a great spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch. The food is great and it is all plant-based! I had the avocado toast and made it snappy, which added their housemade chickpea smash. The staff were very warm and friendly. The coffee was great. The sandwich was good and was clearly made with very fresh ingredients. I stumbled upon this place in good maps and Im happy I did. Very efficient and quick for me.I will say there is very little indoor seating, mostly just a high bar and some stools. But there is outdoor seating. That said none of the stools and tables are ideal for computer work. I would say bring a friend instead of a computer.

I have been going to this place since they opened. I’m absolutely in love with all the different coffees. This is the only place I buy my coffee beans from and it’s so worth it. Before Covid they had custom cards and I would love to give those to people for their birthdays or events. The avocado dream toast is the best avocado toast I’ve ever had in my whole life. I’ve introduced so many people to this restaurant and I get the same response! I have been a regular customer here for a long time and that won’t stop.

I dont even know where to start. Their waffles are PERFECT and thats coming from someone who usually passes up waffles. The menu is limited but the cost is great for an East Bay vegan joint. This place is actually how I learned about oat milk, which is used in their delicious iced mochas. Now I have a carton in my fridge all the time. Also, their loaded grilled cheese is SO awesome. Im not a vegan myself but Ive been trying vegetarian for a bit and I always feel good when I eat at Rooted.

Pleasant hill does need a cool neighborhood coffee spot for the young professionals and families in the area. Not sure how a plant based coffee shop will fit in next to a BBQ joint, but I would go back. They have quite a few plant based milks. I had a latte with oatmilk, and it was tasty. Looking forward to trying the hemp milk.

The coffee is decent, they will overcharge you even when you order on the menu, my menu drink was listed at $5.75 but they added extra syrups charges on all our drinks even though we ordered it direct from the menu no changes. skip all the food unless you dont mind overpaying for small portions of food and waffles that come out of the same $10 krusteaz waffle iron you have at home. Among the other things ordered was the BP and nana which is supposed to be peanut butter with bananas and a agave syrup on some fresh bread what you really get is a small piece of bread and some peanuty syrup drizzled on your bread with a few banana slices. My wife got the hummus toast and it was terrible.The service is also slow and when its busy they will take orders from people behind you when you are at the register and when its the same day they choose to train a cashier that means youll have people waiting behind you get their drinks way before you.Two coffees and two toast will set you back $30, hard pass on this place...

These are some of the nicest people I have ever met!My sister and I had no cell service when getting off the Bart in pleasant hill and had no way of calling an Uber or Lyft like we usually do to get to school. We decided to walk instead of sitting around and because we are not familiar with the area we were completely lost. After about 2 hours of walking in the pouring rain and asking a couple people for directions, we eventually found ourselves at the Rooted cafe. We were both nervous to ask for a phone but found the courage to do so and when we did, we got much more then just a call. Instead of alarming our mother and having her hassle to come and get us to take us to school the wonderful employees there offered to give us a ride! They were the most down to earth helpful beings anyone could ask for and I advise anyone considering stopping there to definitely give it a shot!!! I cannot thank them enough for their help and although this yelp review might not be seen by them, I just wanted to say thank you!

Today I ordered lunch on their online website. I ordered at around 10:15am. When I picked up the order, I am told that while they made the lunch order today, their lunch ordering time starts at 11am. I told them that perhaps their website shouldnt accept orders prior to 11am if thats the case. It is definitely annoying to have spent nearly $20 on lunch only to be reprimanded for placing the order at the wrong time.
