I stayed at Rosewood Sand Hill in December, and visited Madera numerous times and put up colleagues at the hotel for conferences. The service has been absolutely exceptional at every level.Recently, Jason at the bar delighted me and Christian, the bar manager was kind enough to go above and beyond and provide us with specialty vermouth. Not to mention, the Christmas tree is absolutely stunning.

Amazing breakfast on our way to Stanford.We were lucky enough to score a table on the terrace on a Sunday Morning. What was meant to be a quick stop turned into 90 minutes of pure joy. All the staff are exceptional. Friendly, efficient and just great to be around. Wide choice of menu items, really something for everyone Id say. Food came quick and was delicious. Great juices and coffee as well. We will be back next time we are in the area.

Very exclusive, high end, retreat, with friendly staff catered to more affluent clientele, but they arent snooty about it. They make you feel comfortable no matter what your income is.I cant comment about the rooms because I was working an event in the grand ballroom. I would expect the rooms are VERY nice from what I saw of the rest of the property.I would highly recommend this resort like hotel for any stay or event.

I had lunch there Monday, Christian and the two hosts gave a lovely warm welcome and seated us at a nice table by the window. We had several dishes - the burrata and salmon appetizer were very nice and the grilled chicken sandwich. The kids fish fingers is like fish n chips and was good too - not oily and very crispy. Looking forward to returning soon!

What a wonderful urban oasis! Been here for several types of events (wedding, birthday party, corporate event). Service has always been impeccable, and the facilities are always clean and meticulously maintained. Spa is one of the best on the peninsula, and room service food is very good. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely amazing experience at this hotel. Without a doubt, it had the most exceptional staff and service we have ever encountered.Regarding the resort, the room was incredibly spacious and had every single detail you could possibly ask for. The pool and hot tub area were absolutely spectacular. Our son was so reluctant to leave. Dawn and the entire staff at Madera were absolutely amazing from start to finish. My group was scrambling last minute to find a private dining space, and they were able to get us in. My group really enjoyed the food, the room set up was perfect, and the staff went above and beyond. We will not only consider Madera for future, but also Rosewood Sand Hill hotel accommodations. Our trip was excellent. From the moment we arrived the valet and the front desk were incredibly kind and helpful. We had a hair dryer issue that was resolved immediately. Every staff member said hello when we passed them. Drinks and dinner on property were amazing. The staff was sincere when talking with us and checking on how everything was going. The gym was clean, and breakfast was great. The pool all three days was clean, beautiful, and perfectly staffed to take care of us and those around us.

My partner and got away from the San Francisco hustle and bustle for a weekend away and chose Rosewood Sand Hill. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite overlooking the property and it was perfect. Quiet, luxurious, and well appointed. We enjoyed coffee on our patio area that got amazing sun, and dug right into our welcome amenity which was delightfully tasty. We had a really lovely breakfast at Madera and the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the coffee was well made. I only wish we had even more time to enjoy everything Rosewood had to offer but this means we’ll have to come back. We also appreciated the location, which was close to Stanford Mall, and we were able to partake in some Korean food down in San Jose during our stay.

What a great experience we just had at this hotel. Easily the best staff and service we ever had.As for the resort, the room was spacious and included every single detail you could ask for. The pool/hot tub area is spectacular. Our son didn’t want to leave. And the food is top notch.Frankly, if you ever plan to visit the bay area, don’t waste any time and just stay there. We had a fantastic lunch on the Madera patio, even our puppy enjoyed it! The food was delicious and the service was excellent, Yolanda in particular was attentive and made us all feel very comfortable and looked after. The team were very thoughtful, even bringing us a water bowl for our dog. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon with friends.

I had lunch there after a meeting on Sand Hill. The restaurant is lovely, the service was impeccable, and my vegetarian risotto was delicious! One companion had the Japanese fish dish, and thoroughly enjoyed it, and one had the Cheeseburger and fries, and pronounced it to be excellent!

The Rosewood is always a good spot to meet up with friends for a drink and appetizers, hit the beautiful high end spa, have an incredible dinner, or stay for a local night get away or come in town for a longer holiday. Their location is close to the 280 interstate so quick access to great hiking along the coast in Half Moon Bay, some city life in San Francisco, or even sporting events like the 49ers or San Jose Sharks. The price you see is what you get for their high end luxury accommodations but I will say that unlike other places Ive been to, you absolutely get what you pay for and thats saying something!

My goodness the service was outrageously good. True hospitality professionals who clearly care about providing a luxury, personal experience. Its not possible to fake that kind of service, it was so genuine. Particularly the serving staff at the pool, they were so lovely, energetic, attentive, + helpful. And my pup getting snacks + a cozy bed warmed my heart. I LOVED my room. Spacious, perfect amenities, + plush towels/robe. And the closet! What a dream hotel closet. Whole room was spacious, impeccably clean, + cozy. I honestly was blown away by how wonderful the hotel is. Ive visited the bar + restaurant many times but never stayed. I will absolutely stay again - Im already mapping out times this summer to return.

Rosewood Sand Hill is truly a 5 Star Hotel. Every aspect of our event was handled with utmost care. Private Dining Coordinator Dawn Bancroft is amazing. She and Alayna Shough listened and understood the vision we had for our special evening and they turned our dream into reality. The menu we choose was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The wait staff was attentive to the needs of even our youngest guests. From the start, on the balcony overlooking the hills at sunset, until the last guest departed, the evening was magical. I had a two day offsite for my team of VP + SVP at Rosewood Sand Hill and the entire experience from beginning to end was top notch, professional and immaculately executed. Overall property is very nice. Rooms are of good size, although not as nicely appointed as some other Rosewoods. Service is excellent and up to Rosewood standards except at the pool, where is was good but not great. Very nice fitness center. Restaurant is also good but again not quite on par with other Rosewood properties. All in all would definitely come back. Would give a shout out to the folks at Valet as particularly warm and friendly. Also very much appreciate the text questions and updates I received during my stay, presumably from the front desk.

I’m a local resident and have come to Rosewood Sand Hill for dinners and getaways since it opened. I’m changing my review because of recent changes.First, the grounds are beautiful, the staff is mostly welcoming and well-trained, and the view at Madera is exceptional.But, the rest of food and beverage, particularly the pool, has become a disaster over recent years in an apparent attempt to maximize food and beverage revenues. Details are listed below. Sadly, this is such a bad experience now that it overshadows the rest of the resort, makes us not want to stay here any more, and will ultimately lead to optimizing food and beverage revenue to the detriment of the hotel bottom line.*Heavy pandemic staff turnover led to all new staff at the pool. They have seemingly been trained to torture people who enter. A woman is stationed with an iPad to attack newcomers until they “register”. If a hotel guest tries to let a friend in, they are charged $150.*The entry to the pool has been turned into a bazaar (photo attached), changing what used to be a relaxing environment into a pool shopping experience. Yes, I know, they want a little more money.*A few stays ago, I brought out a banana to eat. I was immediately attacked by the new vigilant staff and my banana was confiscated. Yes, I know, they want to make money selling the hotel french fries.Overall, over the last few years, the hotel experience has taken on more of a Holiday Inn-concession feel, but with the added twist of torturing rich guests for just a little more money. Of note, this happened during the tenure of Jacqueline Hultner running food and beverage. Jacqueline is sweet and smart and has top notch experience. So, I can only imagine that she isn’t aware of the impact of the revenue-maximizing changes she’s put in place.Ultimately, I doubt that the $20 extra in food is enough to offset the frequent travelers and previously-loyal local patrons who will take their $1000-a-night for a hotel room to a more personal and high-end resort. I put in the time to write a detailed review because I’m hoping that Rosewood reads this review and makes some changes! I live nearby and would love to come back if the hotel is restored to the friendly and high-service place it used to be.

Awesome hotel. The service the food and the hotel was awesome. The staff was super attentive and are always ready to help. It was nice to see both the staff and the managers walking the grounds to ensure everything is up to their standards. The watch store inside was a rare gem to find. The parking lot had plenty of spaces. The conference hall was nicely setup as well and the lighting and AV were nicely setup. Very much enjoyed my time there.

Olga did a fantastic job of greeting us the morning of the event and taking care of all our needs. Patricia was our event manager and did an outstanding job making sure everything ran smoothly. The reservation / front desk team reached out in advance to check in on any needs, connect me with the concierge, answer any questions, and ensure I had a great stay. My room was nice and spacious but the price performance is miserable. I arrived early in the morning, to a very warm welcome. ---Not the usual Hello, how can I help you but Good morning Mrs S. so glad to have you with us! While waiting for my room, I had a delicious light breakfast at Madera. Everything was very fresh and beautifully presented (especially the sliced avocados with the olive oil). I returned for breakfast on Saturday, and enjoyed the fresh fruit, the house-made marmelade (I wanted a bowlful!), and the creamiest, fluffiest, most flavorful scrambled eggs ever. My room was comfortable, and was kept exceptionally clean throughout my visit. I appreciated the large soft towels, silky sheets, and the Le Labo products. On Saturday, we went to the Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches were simple and varied, very tasty, with a different bread on each (I will also note that the bread was very fresh and soft). The assorted pastries were plentiful, and all delicious. Staying at this hotel was my magical dream, I hope I am able to return someday.

We had a private party in the Lemon Room apart from the main dining room. The service was just off the charts. I thought we might be out of sight and out of mind but that was not the case. I went to the Bar next to Madera and sat outside on the patio with a few friends. The servers were all extremely friendly and helpful, we felt very cared for. The menu had such a great variety. One of the best Negronis I’ve had. I loved the Dungeness crab croquettes, deviled eggs with caviar, and delicious ricotta dip. What a fabulous view looking out over the pool with the mountains in the background!

Spent an afternoon poolside and it was lovely! There are plenty of options for shade and everything was clean and well kept. The true star of the show was the service we received from the poolside dining staff. This was the second most expensive resort style 5 star hotel I’ve stayed, and although very nice, I can’t say I’d return at the rates we payed. The best part is the food… the restaurants are exceptional, and it’s nice to have good food at the hotel. The downside is that it’s very expensive and options are limited… if you stay more than 2 nights, you’ll run out of choices. Room service is over the top expensive…so prepare if you decide you can’t walk to the restaurant (eggs, toast, bacon and coffee for just me came in at over $100, but I loved every bite so I didn’t feel bad paying that). Worse though, if eating outside be prepared to be attacked by swarms of hornets that cover everything and will make you run for cover! Rooms are very nice, although not spectacular and we didn’t have a much of a view, just a small courtyard. The pool looks nice, but watch for broken stone tiling surrounding it. All of us got our feet cut on sharp stones. Service overall was excellent for the room, at the pool and restaurants; everyone was pleasant helpful and fast. Maybe it would be worth the buy 2 nights and get 1 free offer, but didn’t apply to our reservation. It’s true that you won’t find a hotel restaurant this good, however there are better options for less in the Bay Area. Or try to get one of the deals!

After spending two nights at Pinewood Sand Hill in San Francisco, I still cant get over how fantastic the hotel is. Service was amazing, location is convenient and local to the airport, 40 minutes into the city. Rooms were spacious, clean and top quality. The Rosewood staff, room and service was incredible. I stayed there during the storms for me and my daughter and they were exceptional. A big treat was talking to the staff through text so they were able to set up all special accommodations for me before I got there and I never had to call anyone. But, the Sense Spa they have on sight is my go-to spa. The services are phenomenal. I usually go about once every 2 months to treat myself. Sometimes a friend or two joins me and we drink tea in the courtyard in our robes in between our services. It is so, so relaxing! The Oxygen facial is my go-to treatment. I always leave glowing and feeling refreshed. While the services are on the higher price side, I feel they are extremely reasonable for the quality. It is somewhere I never have to worry about possibly getting a bad or uncomfortable treatment and the facility itself is luxurious. I recommend this spa to everyone and anyone looking for a nice getaway! We all need it after COVID.

With the pandemic putting our annual trip to Mexico (or anywhere) on indefinite hold, we picked up a Resort Pass day at the Rosewoods pool over Memorial Day weekend for a day a in the sun.Parking was demurely marked, but plentiful and on-site signage made the pool a breeze to find.When we arrived, we had to wait at the main pool entrance for a moment, but were soon admitted and escorted to our seats. The chicken wings were a larger serving than expected and well prepared. Just before the kitchen closed for the day (at 5P), the staff made their rounds to ensure any and all final requests made it in ahead of closing.The pool itself was clean and uncrowded, even on a holiday weekend. While it was a bit pricy, the day at the Rosewood Pool was a much needed substitute for the tropical vacations we had been dearly missing.

We brought my in laws here to have a drink and enjoy the view, and it met our high expectations. Drinks were pricey but the wine pours were heavy, which made for a delightful surprise for a luxury hotel bar. We also ordered the flatbread, and you could tell they had very high quality ingredients in it. All in all, a great place to grab a drink and enjoy some peace in the Valley.

Planning a trip? My mantra is always to cross-reference. Sites like HoteIDuIIy.cᴏm have often given me the edge in securing affordable rates, like with this room. My partner and got away from the San Francisco hustle and bustle for a weekend away and chose Rosewood Sand Hill. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite overlooking the property and it was perfect. Quiet, luxurious, and well appointed. We enjoyed coffee on our patio area that got amazing sun, and dug right into our welcome amenity which was delightfully tasty. We had a really lovely breakfast at Madera and the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the coffee was well made. I only wish we had even more time to enjoy everything Rosewood had to offer but this means we’ll have to come back. We also appreciated the location, which was close to Stanford Mall, and we were able to partake in some Korean food down in San Jose during our stay.

We went there for a birthday lunch event, and it was all fantastic. The food was delicious and the set up was gorgeous. We walked around the hotel before the event started and the grounds were breathtaking. It helped that the weather was perfect but overall everything was clean and the service was on point. The Rosewood Spa blends a relaxed environment with incredibly caring staff, to make a spa experience that youll remember for a very long time. First, the physical space itself is pretty impressive, everything feels first class: jacuzzi, showers, gym room, to the welcome check-in. But the pinnacle of the club has to be the outdoor pool, 70 ft of 84F fresh, clear water beckoning for lap swimming. Its amazing that more people dont use the pool, as it is hardly ever crowded (and the definition of crowded is more than 2-3 people!). Second, the service is really friendly. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is super friendly and helpful, from the check-in to the trainers, to the pool staff. Finally, the Spa is attached to the Rosewood Hotel, and so after your spa or massage, there is the Redwood Bar, a terrific Michelin restaurant, and holistic grounds for strolling. Parking is straightforward, and you can usually park very close to the Spa. So whats the downside? Well, honestly, there isnt one. Yes, it is on the expensive side, but this is Silicon Valley where everything seems expensive, especially if youre a guest from afar.

I planned ahead and made sure I had some time between meetings down on the Peninsula recently to check out the bar at this Rosewood location. Had a hard time choosing just one of the cocktails, but eventually managed to land on the Moonlit. It was the yuzu that got me. Had it been later in the day, Id have gone for the mezcal drink.And if youre just looking for a quick or small bite, go with the olives and fries. The flavors all went quite well together, and those were some of the best fries Ive had in a long while. Hope I have to travel down to the peninsula again very soon!

Highly recommend by the way!Pro tip - its cheaper to come with a group of 4 and book the cabana.While Im at it, Ill also dine at the Madera for a little fancy lunch. We had lunch at Madera on Sunday afternoon. There was a mix of breakfast and regular entrees items on the menu. There could have been more choice for the non-breakfast menu items but I assume the menu was built for a Sunday brunch. My two other family members had the trout and I had the flat iron steak and both were very good. Service was excellent aside from missing our sparkling water. Dessert was tasty and they kindly remembered my wifes birthday with an extra dessert.

Incredible (on a scale from 1 to 5, my experience has been a 5+) service. Immaculate rooms (my experience). Resolved any issue - above and beyond! Best hotel (Im spoiled, so I do not say this lightly) I have experienced (including European experiences) in my travels (and I do not come from money)! It is in my top 5! We called down to the lobby to get the hours of the hotels bar, and they submitted the hours (11:30pm as last call but 12am as the official close). Then called us back to ask if we would like to be chauffeured via golf cart because the facilities campus is large and beautiful (and it is chilly which is why we accepted). They truly cater to the convenience of their clients as well as expectations of luxury. The experience sincerely compensates (aka is worth) the price of any and every room (basic or extravagant). I actually want to stay longer vs going to San Francisco for the quality of room and services) this hotel.

Won a 1 night stay at a charity auction. Amazing place. Ive never stayed in this kind of luxury. Everyone was super nice and helpful. There were a couple mistakes with our breakfast room service, but they were quick to bring us a new order. Amazing tub and shower. No microwave in the room but not a big deal. We had to take all thr drinks out of the mini fridge to use it, but were able to put them back and not be charged. Amazingly comfortable bed. People hrlped us with our luggage. Had dinner at Madera which was amazing. We couldnt afford to stay here normally but if we ever,get rich we will definitely be back!

Amazing experience from start to finish! When I arrived to the hotel by Uber, there were 2 people waiting, one opened the door for me to exit, another got my luggage and asked for last name. By the time I got to reception they already knew who I was and in a minute I was given my room keys.The hotel itself reminds me of a resort with many two-story cottages spread all around the property. In the middle of the property is a large outdoor pool. I was here during winter so I didnt see anyone use it, but I am sure people enjoy the pool during the summer.The room I had was generously sized and had a king-sized bed with amazingly soft bedding. The bathroom had a separate toilet, shower and a bathtub.The Madera restaurant at the hotel is amazing. Great for breakfast, drinks or dinner! Overall, I had a great experience at Rosewood and I cant wait to go back.

We recently stayed at Rosewood Sandhill for a mini staycation as we live in the bay area. We really were not sure what kind of experience to expect considering the current regulations with Covid, but this short stay was nothing but wonderful!The team there really took great care of us and was able to upgrade us to a Junior Suite when we arrived. They recently renovated and loved enjoying time in our room and on our terrace overlooking the property gardens at the end of our day. We dined one of the nights on property, as we did not feel like going back into Palo Alto, and their restaurant was more popular than I would have thought, clearly with a loyal local crowd – it was nice to see people out enjoying themselves in this beautiful setting.We did not realize we were that close to Stanford, so I went and played on their golf course on Saturday morning and my wife went shopping to their high-end mall. Great options for both of us!It was so good to getaway and have that feeling of worry-free vacation so close to home and be spoilt by the people there. It was our second Rosewood property we stay at, and we for sure will be back here sooner than later!

Enjoyed a prenatal massage at Sense spa. Had a very relaxing experience with a lovely massage therapist. For prenatal, you rest on the massage table on your side, hugging very cozy pillows. I was surprised that the hip on the table stayed comfortable throughout. Be sure to leave time to enjoy the complementary access to the outdoor pool. A dip in the refreshing water after the massage felt wonderful and was a good replacement for the traditional post massage hot tub /steam room / sauna experience.

This is an iconic hotel that is noted for the many Silicon Valley investors who go there to discuss the latest venture deals! Beautifully decorated, wonderful pool, nice restaurants all within. I was here for a BMW test drive event and the facility is nice from that perspective. Ample parking, easy access to the freeway, and beautiful surroundings make this a great place to host events.
