First time being at this location in Tustin our normal go to would be Fullerton and after this experience it will NOT be changing! It started with our arrival it took about 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, which is such a shame as Fullerton’s staff is always so welcoming and friendly!We ordered an artichoke dip with a description of melted 3 blend cheese and when we received it the app it was literally warmed up artichoke with no cheese just chips to dip—at this point i thought okay maybe it’s an off day! I get my order of a Garlic Chicken sandwich and that was a nightmare the cheese in it was not melted and the tomato in it was extremely soggy along with the pickle on the side was even soggier! I was literally taken back from how awful it was! Then our waitress comes and ask for a refill and pours me the wrong drink and that was just to me the icing on the top because the service was poor and the quality of food was such a let down especially being customers to their Fullerton location!Not sure if this was just an off day for this location, but I will be sticking to the Fullerton location where they are just spot on with everything!

Im very surprised with all the good reviews about this place. We ordered their pasta and a burrito. We couldnt really tell the difference between the two. It tasted so bland even with hot sauce it made no difference. It felt like prison food or what food tasted like during the Russian winter of world war two.

Arrived at 5:45 to meet a friend for dinner. Both inside and outside dining areas were busy. I requested inside, a table had just finished so the service staff immediately cleaned the table and I was seated.I received menus and beverage service right away and staff made sure to check in on ice tea refills frequently. We ordered the garlic chicken salad. It was incredible. Not really garlicky and perfect blend of ingredients. They had many salads, soups and homemade entrees to choose from.I would give the service staff, menu and food quality 10 stars. Will definitely be back on my next business trip.

Been going here for many years. Now that my diet is vegan, i appreciate this place even more. The food is good with a lot of great vegetarian and vegan options. They really have made the idea of providing comfort healthy food a fantastic option. I have had many salads and hot menu options here and still love the garlic chicken salad, although no chicken any longer for me.They also offer tasty vegan cookies for a nice sweet treat.Fun healthy restaurant option...

A must go for us, it made us forget we’re having mostly veggies. DELISH everytime. The Chumichuri bowl was a festive bowl with every bite a party in our mouths. The Turkey cranberry sandwich is so balanced the Turkey so well seasoned, the homemade cranberry that’s not too sweet elevated the taste to a synchronised dance of subtle highlighted flavours. They don’t fight with each other, rather, compliment each other. Like a marriage that works. Fulfilling our tummy, taste buds and soul. Always leave this place happy and content.

A friend brought me over for lunch and it was such little gem. They have both inside and outdoor dining. The portions are really big and the salad was massive!!! I was so shocked, it’s the biggest bowl for salad that I’ve ever seen! (I tried a bite of my friends Chinese chicken salad and it was super fresh and delicious. I’m definitely getting a salad next time) For lunch I ordered 1/2 a sandwich combo with soup. The potato cheese soup is on the healthier side, which I didn’t mind! The sandwich was avocado with tomato and cheese. It was super fresh and simple, perfect for a nice warm day. Overall, I got a sense that the food is fresh, clean and simple- and you can’t go wrong with that! The menu is so vast that it even has a table of contents…. Lol love that!

My wife and I had a delicious lunch date here. We were both so happy to find this place because we’ve been craving sandwiches.We both ordered tuna sandwiches and they were delicious. The best part was the chili bowl I ordered as well.We will be back here soon because we want to try all of the sandwiches. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Modern blend of Californian, Mexican, Mediterranean, and other cuisines situated in a historical building on Main St. The menu is extensive and features more salads, sandwiches, soups, desserts, juices, and coffee drinks than you can imagine. Service was polite and quick. Portions are on the bigger size, considering prices are modest. Strongly recommended. Outdoor seating available with heaters.

My family and I love Rutabegorz. Weve been to the orange and fullerton locations and finally got around to this one. Its just as exceptional as the others. Food and service are always top tier. The seasonals are also a treat. I switched up my usual and tried one and finished every bite. Both of my parents also thought their meal was fantastic and so did my brother. If you ever visit orange county definitely look these restaurants up.

I have been eating at Rutabegorz (Fullerton store) dating back to 1973. A friend of mine, Diane, got me started going. Now my entire family eats at all three stores, mostly Tustin. Love the food, staff, and customers.

Rutabegorz is great! They have a big menu and its all so good I always have trouble deciding (the autumn seasonal menu is particularly inspiring). Their bowl entrees (veggie, rice, pasta) are usually what I go after. So many options for eaters of all kinds. Its one of the only two places Im aware of where you can be served a quesadilla with a gluten free flour tortilla.Mind you though that its a very leisurely dining experience and while I would say the service is good, it wont do to dine in if youre in a hurry.

Also, the clam chowder was not as good a the cocky leeky. The chimichurri bowl was really good. BLT was different from the Fullerton location. This one isnt triangle. Overall, great place to eat

Historic rustic charm, food is delicious, healthy and plenty of it at fair prices. We had delicious chicken enchiladas, bean dip and chips and side salad. Homemade cheese cake. They also offer cookies and carrot cake and other desserts. Extensive menu offers great desserts and drinks. Service is friendly and efficient. Located in Old Town Tustin.

Without a doubt my favorite place in old town Tustin. With the size of the menu, it’s like a mom and pop Cheesecake Factory. Everything I’ve had here has been great, and I love the 53¢ dip they have every month. Cheesecake is so good, as are the cookies. Artichoke dip is homemade and the margaritas are not only delicious but the price is totally reasonable. Something you don’t see much in OC.

This is my Lukes Diner. Large garlic chicken salad with the $53 cent monthly dip hits the spot every single time. The decor is perfectly cozy and quaint, the staff is friendly and the meals are consistent. One of my favorite things about Ruta is that they offer multiple plant based options on their menu. Its refreshing that my vegetarian friends and family have many things to choose from. One of the best things about Tustin.

Our favorite healthy food restaurant. Rutabegorz is far ahead of the vegan/ plant- based foods. And most importantly- making vegetables taste delicious. The menu is robust with appetizers, main dishes, desserts and more. The portions are large and we always take some home.The restaurant is cozy, healthy with a warm, welcoming feeling.The outside seating is great because you sit in cute downtown Tustin. I love this place. I dont get the opportunity to go very often. Everything is always delicious and fresh. I was in the area the last 2 days so I stopped in and got take out. Came here on a Sunday, the staff was incredibly nice and very attentive, the food was beautifully cooked, the flavors were spot on. I had the garlic chicken sandwich and the veggie lasagna, and I cannot recommend these dishes enough, the sandwich was incredibly filling, and the lasagna was so tasty I wish I had a bigger stomach(also check out that cheese stretch!!)My waiter was a very good conversationalist, and handled everything with care, thank you Tyson!

My go-to place for healthy food. They have quite a few tasty salads, including the ultimate and chinese chicken.Theyre doing a good job complying with COVID restrictions and have had an outdoor patio open for dining for quite some time. Particularly enjoyed a cold drink called Hale the Kale, which is a bright green concoction of super healthy ingredients.Outside seating provides a great view of aircraft coming into a local airport, but they’re not too noisy.If every server here is as efficient and friendly as London, you’ll have a great experience.

Andra is super personable and delivers outstanding customer service!It was our very 1st time visiting this restaurant that we heard great things about.I personally loved the wholesome salad that I ordered with pears, candied walnuts, golden raisins, and chunks of chicken breast. Very filling and delicious! Oh, and it had a very tasty homemade strawberry dressing too that it came with! The other person dining with me didnt like the parmesan bagel or the carrot cake. (Please keep in mind that she is an especially picky eater.) I havent gotten to my boysenberry pie yet and we gifted the coconut cream cake.The best part was actually the service after the order and... the yummy salad 🥗! Andra kindly acknowledged fault in the cashier messing up our order and refunded us for the parts of the order that was messed up.

I love Ruta! Friendly staff, quality menu items. Their portions are generally quite large and very healthy! This location has parking behind the restaurant. They have a side room where you can have private parties/groups. Most of their tables inside the restaurant though are for 2 people. 4 would fit in a booth, but youd be cozy :)

Our long time favorite! I met my - Tustin born and raised - husband 17 years ago and Rutabegorz was one of the first places he took me to. Weve been to this restaurant many, many times and loved every single one of them. Their food tastes like home-comfort-yumminess! There are lots of exciting vegetarian options. The ambiance is cozy and cheerful. The service is WONDERFUL - all servers are extremely kind, sweet, and welcoming. My clients suggested this place for lunch and it was a great choice. They have a massive menu (think Cheesecake Factory, it’s a little overwhelming) with loads of healthy choices along with a seasonal/daily specials menu. The food was great, but nothing that really rocked my world.There’s a lot of public parking in the area so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a spot. There’s only a few outdoor tables, most of the seating is indoor.

Food is always good!! We used to dine every week, until we noticed frequent rudeness & lack of customer attention, especially after 7-7:15. Carey seems to think no one should come in after 7:00 & we were ignored & experienced her wrath & rudeness everytime we tried to dine for dinner. One time she made a horrible, throat (almost vomit 🤢 sound) as we were walking in & she stomped out the door held by others in our party. Why is this behavior tolerated?!?Fortunately, Joyce & Kisha are always extremely polite, kind, attentive & professional.Until changes are made, so that we feel welcome whenever we do come in....weve found alternate dining that enjoy our business & its not uncomfortable. Occasionally we simply order to go....Carey still always makes some rude remarks or gesture if shes there. So uncalled for & unprofessional.

I would give this cute restaurant 5 stars if I werent getting diarrhea after dining. However, I do have a sensitive stomach and my friends seen no problem with the food so I guess Im just the odd case. But I would still come back and try again. Overall the place is small, cozy and nice. The service is GREAT. Very warm and friendly feeling with our waitress, definitely wonderful experience. Food is nice, they even provide sample of soup if you want to try. The Mexican chowder is amazing, its semi-creamy and taste fresh. Chicken soup is at a normal level but still worth to get it. The chicken pasta taste great, Im happy its not too oily, and it also come with a large portion. The toast bread is surprisingly delicious.Will definitely come back again.

Been coming to their different locations for 20 or 30 years now. Always good food, always great staff. Each location has a few unique dishes, and seasonal menus, and they always have a 50 cent appetizer that switches up daily or weekly or some such. Rutas is the same wonderful place as it was 30 years ago. The food is simple, delicious, and in generous portions. I like the quesadillas and the giant two taco combo (TwoCos). The waiters are sweet, funny, and obliging. I am especially grateful that they have one waiter dedicated to keeping peoples glasses full. And the prices havent changed much; it still feels like a good bargain.

We love Rütabégorz! We’ve been going there for years, and yesterday we celebrated mom being cancer-free; with yummy veggie lasagna, garlic bread, and veggie cheese soup. I had the very pleasant experience of ordering the Open Face Vegetable Melt Sandwich, but I ordered it on Garlic Sourdough Bread, with Shrimp added. It was so delicious and everything I expected. It was sooo good. I would recommend Rutabegorz to anyone who wants really yummy food and desserts galore. I had the Frozen Mocha Chocolate Shake with Whipped Cream. Again, I was not disappointed. I drank the whole thing, which was a lot. I loved everything I ordered.

I got food poisoning there.Do not eat here.Looks really good and has lots of choicesBut I found out they dont make a lot of their food on site. That means the soup i ordered was in a pot all day possibly at the sustained correct temp but who knows. It could have traveled in the morning and sat room cooling to room temp till lunch. I ordered a large portion of Cockie Leeky soup that did not come with bread or anything else that came to $20 I said oh well treat myself and Ill have leftovers tomorrow.Tomorrow came and I never left the bathroom with a 103. I had their Strawberry salad with a lemonade. Omg!! When my food arrived my first impression was OMG!! Their serving bowl was huge. However, I was happy it had plenty of strawberries, candied walnuts, chicken, and a variety of greens. The dressing was a vinaigrette that complemented the salad beautifully. The old uncomfortable green seats. The dated feel. The endless menu: always a bad sign; either stick with a dozen or less things you can do really really well, or do nothing; offering so much means a whole bunch of bland or potentially stale items as no business can possibly keep fresh ingredients, at all times, for THAT many different plate options. Case in point - I ordered the chicken verde enchiladas and the tortilla chips were stale, the beans were dried out and inedible, whole bunch of overcooked brown rice (WTH), there was this bizarre slice of Cantaloupe just pressed up against it all, and the enchiladas were nothing authentically Mexican. The plate was just piled high with stuff. The enchiladas were hot - I’ll give them that, but the flavor was completely forgettable. It was like ordering Italian food at a Mexican restaurant. Awful. Funny enough, I was in the mood for spaghetti and sauce - I asked the waitress what she thought of the spaghetti and she goes, “(pause) It’s ok...” and that’s when I asked her what she recommended for first timers, and I went with the enchiladas because I felt her recommendation to be honest. She was very nice. Probably honest too - just unfortunately not the best food critic.Dessert was also massively disappointing. They didn’t have any of the signature pies I’d heard about. GF ordered a mountain chocolate cake sundae. The cake was barely warm and tasted like cheapie cake mix from a box you get at Ralphs... The only things that were edible were the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. Honestly, I could have just dug out two scoops at home and put some cream on it.Disaster. GF talked it up sooo much. Said it would be a surprise, as she came here a lot in her youth. Well now I know that its a soup/sandwich/salad kind of place that really emphasizes freshness and large portions! Its kind of a 70s/80s throwback and reminded me of that one restaurant The Good Earth, but it looks like its still going strong, judging by the busy lunch crowd. I got the Rutas famous chili. If you like a lot red and cheese then it’s for you. It was plain and lacking flavor. Very disappointed. My mom got the chicken soup and thought it was bland as well.

I dont think Id call this health food because I normally stay away from places like that. This is just great food, all made well, in an old historical building. Its one of the best places to eat in Tustin as far as Im concerned. Especially on Sundays.

Reminiscent of the old health food restaurants of the 70s, walking into Rutabegorz is a nostalgic experience for me. Each location feels a little different, yet consistent with the Rutabegorz vibe of charming/homey/healthy/retro/old coffeehouse. The one in Tustin was established in 1970 & is all wood like an old cafe, & the one in Orange is actually an old repurposed house. Its where we go on my birthday or Mothers Day. Its probably my favorite practical restaurant because it is so affordable, the food is great & the ambience is unrivaled. The service is always good as welk.The Rutabegorz menu contains about 20 pages of healthy (but delicious) options. While they serve lean meats such as chicken, turkey and tuna, if youre vegetarian or vegan you have many options. For me, if I closed my eyes & let my finger land upon anything they offer, I would enjoy the meal. Its all pretty delicious and the portions are beyond generous. I usually order one of their gigantic salads, but Ive seen what everyone else orders & its all yummy and impossible to finish in one sitting.

Oh hell no!!!! If you want to be discriminated, have horrible service (and I’m being polite) and want to leave with a bad taste in your mouth, eat here. The waitress, after providing the horrendous service, had the nerve to complain of the amount of tip left for her. She was extremely unprofessional, rude & is non deserving of any tip. This place doesn’t deserve your patronage.

The man who showed us to our table handed menus to us and took our drink orders. A few minutes after we finished our drinks we realized we hadnt received any other service. We waved at a waitress, who waved back and walked away. We waited a couple more minutes, then left money on the table for our drinks and left. A couple minutes later we drove by on our way to find another place to eat and our table hadnt been cleared.

Really the large salads are the only reason I would come here. Its a little too try hard as a hipster wannabe ex hippie place, the staff can be snooty if youre not blonde, and definitely not culturally diverse. It will make any Angeleno run out screaming for his or her life. In LA this kind of food would be normal. In the OC it seems like its raved over as different or special. Not sure why. Its just a salad. Those people might just need to get out more or move to LA for a month. And dont criticize President T here, you will get stinky looks.
