We came for a birthday dinner so we were a large group. Once we were seated, our server took our drink orders. But it took a bit longer for the server to take our meal order. Once our chef arrived then the night became exciting and entertaining. The freshly made food tasted delicious. At the end of the dinner, a server offered to take our picture and had it printed within minutes.

SIL had her birthday here, located right off the freeway, reservation definitely recommended, place was packed at around 630p on Tue. I asked if we could bring in our own cake, the staff were very nice and accommodating, even putting our cake in fridge while we eat. We seated at the sushi side and server Manuel was very patient with our group of 6 adults and 2 kids. Food arrived within 10mins and after we were done eating, they cleared the table and brought our cake out plus a song and dessert for the birthday girl, even took a picture and printed it out for us! I wished the portions were larger as we were still hungry after the meal.

Took a buddy of mine to this place and it was an enjoyable experience. We had the sampler appetizers and both ordered teppan. I had the shrimp, scallop and lobster, and he has the steak and shrimp. We both had the miso soup and fried rice options. Food was delicious.The only downers was there was no dessert with the meal. Our chef must have also been tired cause he wasnt that enthusiastic.Still solid 4 stars.

Came here to celebrate my mothers birthday and no better place to go to express the love for our love ones other than O-Sabi. We ordered some teriyaki chicken and we LOVED it. It had some much flavor and the cook made so much he had to make a way to have it even. The atmosphere was so friendly I felt stress free and living in the moment! The service was amazing and the cook was so nice! I recommend coming here for special occasions!

My partner & my daughter took me here for my birthday, there was another restaurant of this kind in Oxnard that I loved going to so we decided to try this one, Im so happy we went here, it was the best experience Ive had in a long time, the hostess was a delight, sat us quick our cook was the best the price wasnt something I had to mortgage my house for the whole experience was awesome. Well I come before you with a review I would like to forget about and just go on with my day, but I feel I need to address this problem now .I been here for dinner several times now. Each time I feel a little more rushed though my meal. Last night was the worst.4 difference people waiting on our table. 4 different orders wrong. The busboy came by like six times, pushing us out fast. I dont like that at the price or any price for that matter.now for food, well it started out ok a few years ago when I first tried them out. Last night my meal was upsetting! I will not be back !

I havent been here for the tappen yet but the sushi is the best in Ventura county. I love sushi but theres not a lot of options and the best one out here is in Camarillo so if I craved great sushi I had to drive 30-40 minutes. Now Ive found one that was even better. The atmosphere is great and the sushi chefs are funny and friendly. The staff is on point my water never even half empty and I waited for nothing. The sake is pretty dang good too 😉 Great for parties and dates

Came in on New Years not thinking they would be as crowded as it was but we did. Was told it was going to be a2 hour wait, but it was only about 45 minutes. Very good cook, knew how to entertain everyone. Did an excellent job at cooking. Everyone at our table had the filet mignon, I had scallops with mine.

My first time here and it was a great experience. The hostess and chef were friendly and explained the restaurant setup. One side is teppanyaki style, where they cook the food in front of you (very entertaining!), and the other side is sushi. You can order from both, we decided to sit at the teppanyaki side and ordered some sushi too. Best of both worlds. Great atmosphere and food to go with it. Would definitely recommend this place!

Food was not bad, kabuki is allot better but what made it worse was the way the staff forces you to pay the 18% tip. when you get the check they circle the bigger percentage and give u the total written in pen. for example our order was $112.00 she added the $20 to it making it $132 trying to force u on what kind of tip she will get. when they have 3 different tip percentages. it wasnt just my bill but my other friends bill also. I rather spend that money at Kabuki were the food is better tasting and have better service and not force u to pay what they want. and yes we also ordered sushi.

It is a fun restaurant to go as a group or a couple, they serve a small side salad, choice of miso or onion miso soups, a choice of fried rice (extra) vs steam rice, veggies and chicken/ steaks/ seafood as entrees also sushi can be ordered. The food is a little bland and could use more flavor but only my opinion.

My husband loves to go here every year for his birthday at the teppan grills. They give us a group photo each time and he gets some dessert or drink each time.The food is very good and you get a lot for the price. I usually have a lot left over to eat later. The grill presentation is basically the same every time, but its very fun. The alcoholic drinks and sushi are also very good. Weve only eat there once for the sushi and not the grill!

Talk about an Experience! First off, waiting in line 30 mins after my reservation was set was a disappointment. But putting that part aside, seeing how packed the front entrance was inside and not having proper exit routes available for emergencies is what really grinds my gears. Why would you not set up a proper process for people waiting outside and not just stacking on the entrance, to also include exit routes being blocked. Guaranteed the building department will get a follow up allowing this nonsense!!

The ambiance is great as soon I stepped inside we where welcome by the 2 hostess. And if Im not mistaken they are the daughters of the owners. They answer a bunch of questions about the menu. After a few minutes we all got to take our seats around the table so in my party there was 4 so there was a couple and a father and his daughter. The waiter came and took our drink order. After we got thw drinks he took everyones orders. The cook came rolling in with the cart full of ingredients. Im sorry I cant remember his name. He made it fun and the food was great. Our waiter could have checked on us a little more but so many other people did check on us. Thanks for a great night. I would strongly recommend this place.

The younger Asian girl up front is very rude. Extremely rude. As much as a party of 14 people that want to eat on a reservation, she rudely gave our reservation away... We had five people there on time so that we could sit down until the rest arrive and they told us we could but when we got there she gave it away. Is not friendly and the owner of our dealership is friends with their owner. I even said I had to catch a flight and she still gave us away where we all had to wait another hour which made me have to leave the dinner table before finished... The last time I ate there they messed up my food twice and didnt bring me a drink the whole time so Im done with them. We will never come back as long as shes up front. We spent $1,000 on the meal and thats the treatment we got the second time in a row... She is not accommodating at all

Great, welcoming experience! Like my boyfriend said, Two is the magic teppenyaki number. While we were expecting to have an hour plus wait, thankfully, as a party of two, we walked in to add our name to the list and were ushered right in and seated. THE BEST Japanese teppanyaki cuisine ever !! This is my new favorite place to pick up chopsticks !! I had the teriyaki chicken with salad and the miso soup. My guest had sushi and he said it was the best most flavorful sushi hes ever eaten. I have to say the fried rice .... Ive never had such fresh and flavorful fried rice in my life. The cook put on a really fun show. Establishment is very clean. The waitresses and waiters were constantly refilling are drinks... the whole experience was 10 stars.

Ive been eating here for years. The food is always great, and the entertainment fun. We went there for a birthday, so the family was there. A few people ordered sushi, while the rest had the Tepan. The prices have gone up a bit. The sushi didnt come until everyone else ate. We had to ask several times, and the steamed rice never came. Im not sure where the disconnect, but they gave us discount on the sushi. I like the food, but its getting to be a bit expensive.

I love taking my kids here. Its awesome! We normally sit on the sushi bar side and order from the Tappan menu. The filet and lobster is huge and can easily feed 2 to 3 people. If you get there between 430 and 530, there is a reduced/early bird menu! Definitely a must vist in Ventura!

Arrive early to avoid wait line. Once youre seated the service is fast. They do have a sunset special you have to be there before 6:00 to get the special. Food is tasty. I recommend the white sauce inside the fried rice. They also have a sushi bar. Their sushi is okay. I recommend the seafood hibachi platter, you get lobster calamari scallops and shrimp. They also have a small bar with bar stools to sit and watch sports. They offer gift cards for purchase. It is very loud. Family-friendly. They do serve beer and mixed alcohol drinks. I come here at least once every 2 months.

Personally, my favorite Japanese restaurant. Downside: I live roughly 2 hours away so I cant go to O-Sabis as much as I would want. I always sit at the sushi bar where the chef is both highly skilled and wonderfully artistic with his plating. I usually order the 4 types of sashimi dinner, fresh wasabi, large saki, and a Umi shooter. I think they are only open for dinner service. I have recommended a restaurant so highly.

O-Sabi is probably more known for its teppan side. Ive never had it. Their sushi side however, is excellent. Always friendly service.Their fish/sushi selections are great. Quality is always great. Been to nearly every sushi joint in Ventura. O-Sabi is top 3 imo.

Worst reservation experience I’ve ever had. I made reservations for 10 people at 7:30 pm on a Friday. We weren’t seated until 8:30. It was my wife’s birthday, and the delay in service was very frustrating. Every time I asked the hostess when we would be seated, I received the same reply “it will only be a few more minutes”. It’s too bad that the quality of food and dining is overshadowed by the extremely poor check in service. I Do Not recommend dining at O-Sabi Ventura.

They have big u section tables so if you want privacy for you and your partner I dont recommend this place. They sit random people at the tables you sit at. The food was okay. I ordered the spicy teriyaki chicken which was just siricha mixed with chicken. The wait for the food was about an hr. The miso soup and salad was good. Of you dont mind waiting for your food this is an okay choice. Also they dont have noodles.

This has turned in to a yearly tradition for our family to celebrate our daughters birthday. We just love that we can sit around the grill family style while being entertained by the chef cooking up shrimp, teriyaki chicken, or beef. The choices are endless. Our daughter loves the salmon. The fried rice has to be the tastiest ever!!! Highly recommend this place. I don’t know what it is about eating Teppanyaki style, but I always feel good the next morning. Highly recommend this place. Reservations are a must.

So here is the deal with this place. The hosts are incompetent. We had a 6:30 reservation, got there at 6:15 and didnt get seated until 7:05. They obviously dont know how to give people a realistic time frame s everyone is waiting and then mad because its taking longer than they were originally told. When I asked what the point of having a reservation was they said to be seated before the walk ins, that did not happen tonight. There were 4 families that came in after us that did not have reservations and were seated before us. The food is wonderful. And the server was horrible and rude at first but then won me over through out the night. I have been here many times, the wait tonight with the reservation was over the top bad and Im not sure the next time I will be visiting.

Total bait and switch. We came for a show dinner that was specified when we made the reservation on the phone. Halfway into dinner, it became apparent that they weren’t cooking food table side, and instead bringing it out from the kitchen. They claimed it was because of corona they can’t cook in front of us, but they still have people coming out and singing happy birthday at the table. Yet they are still charging full overpriced service without providing the atmosphere and this wasn’t communicated beforehand. Won’t be coming back here.

This place does satstify my craving for teppan style food. Though it was a bit off this last visit I had, espiaclly the time I when I take friends. Our service was nice but seemed abit busy and we have sometimes call her over. While our cook was abit non enthusiastic which was weird cause I did have same cook before and he was excellent then. Best local place for Teppan :) Been coming here with my family for many years. Awesome lunch specials too on both the Teppan and sushi side. If you like specialty rolls, try the Victoria roll, amazing. The owners are always a part of the atmosphere, which is nice. My favourite server is Matt....but Im a little biased as hes my brother. He does take great care of the clients though, and Ive seen first-hand. Been coming here long before he ever worked here though. We came to have dinner at O-Sabi’s and enjoy a nice family outing. We had a full table of 8. An 18% gratuity is added to parties of 8 or more just FYI. The waitress and chef were amazing. We all got the chicken and steak teriyaki combo but we split a combo between 2 people as the portions are generous, the fried rice, miso soup and garlic edemame. We ordered 4 more fried rice as we were splitting the combos to make sure we all had enough. The chef puts on a great and entertaining show. He had us laughing the whole time.The food was delicious. Horrible service. Waited an hour and 15 minutes and then still had to wait another 45 minutes. When we finally got our order in a chef approached our table and then some one at our table, who wasnt in our party, requested a different chef. So we wait another 20 minutes for chef #2. When chef 2 get to our the guy who requested a different chef ask the chef to put hot sauce on the grill, this was the final straw. We tell management about this mistake and there was no attempt to fix the situation. My girlfriend and I walked out of there 2 hours and 45 minutes later still hungry and with our money in their (Osabi) pockets. We are regular customers. Will not be back for some time and I recomend you do the same until service and management is resolved.

The flavor of the food was below average as in near tasteless. The sauces is what hit me the hardest. All sauces were watered down including the terrayaki sauce. TL;DR: Awesome teppenyaki and sushi, with service to match.Ive had wa-sabi, and ni-sabi, but never O-Sabi. Now considering myself something of a Sabi connoisseur, I can confidently say that this ranks highest amongst sabis.We settled on teppenyaki-sabi side (say that five times fast), but also ordered a sushi roll to live dangerously. The teppen chefs pull all the usual tricks and even some new ones. Of course the typical meal includes 3 shrimp, one of which can be expeditiously flung towards your mouth in a mostly accurate manner. All the food was indeed delicious, cooked and uncooked.The restaurant was moderately busy, and our servers still kept up excellently. My drink was rarely empty, and the plates whisked away as we cleared them.Would happily come here again. Prices were about standard for a good restaurant.

Teppanyaki is amazing here, but you have to reserve your table ahead of time, or else you will be stuck waiting for a seat for a long time (for the teppanyaki side of the restaurant). This place gets crowded easily. The sushi side of the restaurant is also really good as well. Everyone working here is nice, and get the nabeyaki (I think thats how you spell it) udon when you eat at the sushi side! Its delicious, and I love their NY steak, shrimp, fried rice, and scallops as well. I also love to eat the tempura ice cream and drink the Shirley temples here when I have enough room for dessert. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality Japanese food in the Ventura county area!

This has turned in to a yearly tradition for our family to celebrate our daughters birthday.
