Delicious Thai food, comfortable warm restaurant, the servers are wearing tye dye’d garments from Thailand this place is the perfect goto spot for lunch or dinner. Every dish is flavorful, we god a pad Thai with chicken & prawns, pineapple fried rice & their deep fried sweet potatoes in coconut batter. All a must try!

Just stopped at the restaurant after looking at google reviews. The restaurant was fully occupied and it took time for us to get a table. The service was quick and good. Tried Shrimp Tempura and Chicken Rice. Tasted good and amazing. Definitely worth trying in Santa Cruz.

Sabieng Thai Cuisine is another Santa Cruz favorite. I used to come here all the time when I lived on this side of town. Had forgotten about it till I came here again the other day. The owners are amazing hardworking people that make some amazing food!Tom Yum Koong soup was fantastic and flavorful. Pineapple fried rice was also extra delicious and had shrimp and prawns.Tried the Thai iced tea for the first time. It was awesome and had an iced Thai coffee to go. Everything was amazing, and the service is everything!

I cannot even put into words how good the food was. They give out Tom Yum Soup like it was bread at Olive Garden. The Chicken Fried Rice made my mouth ascend higher than Mother Mary herself. The texture and taste is just...HEVEANLY. Also the waiters were super nice.

Dine in on a Sunday in August 2023 was great. The food was really very good. Service was fine. Very fast, but not super friendly, though they were polite. Panang curry with shrimp was very good, as well as drunken noodles (called something else).I had a bad experience a couple months before, where an online order of take out took more than an hour (and I had to sit there waiting) even though it wasnt that busy, and the food ended up being very bland. Im glad to have tried again and found it was much much better this time. I will return.Fairly busy on a Sunday in summer but only after 7:30pm.

There is nothing authentic about the Thai dishes. We had chicken laab, nua nam tok, potstickers, and red curry. There is no taste at all. It is similar to eating paper. It appears that whoever wrote these reviews do not have a good understanding of Thai cuisine. REAL AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD should have all the flavors of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy.

We went there on July 4th weekend. A typical Thai cuisine. The vegetables in Tofu Green Curry were fresh and delightful. The seafood combo dish was tasty and complemented the green curry.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen..Ive lived in the Santa Cruz area for 20 years, and Sabieng had always been a mainstay for great Thai food. Haven’t been there much since moving to Ben Lomond, but just visited today to get a lunch combo for my wife and I. We both got curry (red and green). They were both extremely disappointing, watered down, and the balance of flavors was off. Too much lime and fish sauce in the green curry and the red was so watery, it was more like a broth than a rich curry. The crab delights that came with my combo were possibly the worst I’ve ever had, undercooked and soggy. Unfortunately, most restaurants are being crippled by the extremely high cost of doing business in Santa Cruz, and like the town itself, they have been degreased substantially into a shell of their former selves. It’s a sad reality of life in one of the most expensive places on earth. Sorry Sabieng, this will be our last visit. Thank you for having good food for so many years prior.

We go there on our weekly rounds to Santa Cruz. Theyre open Monday, they are friendly, the food is as close to authentic as Ive found (my travels to Thailand are in the distant past, but still). Excellent Pad Kee Mao and very fresh fresh spring rolls. Youre in and out with tasty veggies in your belly, a singha or green tea, and your wallets not empty. Thank you Sabieng. *Just had the eggplant special: delicious!

Food was high quality. The low prices reflect the smaller, appropriately sized portions. The only complaint was that the spice level and flavors were low for what I would expect from Thai cooking. It was a little americanized that way low on the fish sauce and spice high on the sugar and cornstarch. It was really good though... Im just nit picking!

First time visit for a take out. The portions were about medium and the price was fair at around 13-14 for each noodle item (drunken noodle and pad see ew). The taste was decent and the pice level was on point what was requested. They did forget to pack utensils or napkins for our take out. So perhaps be sure to request when picking up instead of assuming they’ll be included.

The wonton soup was OK, the pad see ew, crystal noodles, shrimp fried rice was fair,,,I came with my husband, my mom, my 9 year old and my 17 months. Since we were 5, they charge us an automatic 18% gratuity (about 19 dollars) on our bill. We were disappointed on this and surprised of this charge. We went to dine in front of the beach but never get charge of this...so warning to everyone,,,Ill try other thai food around and see if this charge is the same,, and hoping for a better food.

The quality of the food here was stunning.Probably the freshest spring rolls Ive ever had in my life. The Mun Tod (Fried Sweet Potatoes) was incredible, and definitely worth branching out to try. We also tried some seafood specials, Larb salad, and fried rice, all of which were top notch.Genuinely excited to try more of the menu!

I get a serious craving for Thai food about once a month and this is always my go-to place! Its small but the wait staff is very kind and they take care of anything you need. Every dish they have looks great, but I always stick to my favorite! This looks like a good place to share but I usually order my own since I dont like spicy food and my companions do. My first time at Sabieng restaurant and I was very disappointed. First off, drinks (water) were not served until after being seated for 15 mins. Mind you, no one else were dining out beside our family of 5. I understand the policy of wearing a mask but we were told to wear our mask even when being sat down while ordering our food. First restaurant that had ever asked us to do so. I ordered a couple of different dishes I was not pleased. I ordered a yellow chicken curry soup and my potato was still hard! Potato’s in the curry soup are suppose to be soft and tender. Unbelievable. I will not be returning back. I rate no star. But because I cannot post without rating, this will be considered a 1 star.

BEST Thai food in Santa Cruz, hands down. We always bring family and friends from LA and other big foodie hubs and they are always impressed by the incredible flavors, rich colorful curries, freshness and taste. You can taste the quality in their recipes, and none of their food is overly sweet which is a big complaint I have towards most Thai restaurants. They have mastered the balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. Try their Drunken Noodles and also their Pumpkin Curry!!

One of the better Thai places around, though Id say most of them are quite good. Of particular interest here for me were the crab/cheese dumpling appetizer. Ive had them at lots of other Thai and Chinese restaurants, but I found these were exceptional. Other than that, everything is great. Just order whatever you normally like at a Thai restaurant and youll leave happy.

It wasnt very spicy (we requested for medium level of spice) so if you like your Thai food spicy, spice up. The green papaya salad had whole peanuts, I was expecting crumbled peanuts. I would argue that Sabieng has the best Thai food in town. Ive only ever ordered take out at lunch (they are open for lunch even though their hours say theyre not) and my food is always consistent and ready for me when I arrive. I had a great dinner here in the restaurant. Then, I ordered it as takeout:1. TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE #1: I got sick, really sick. The food didnt taste quite right. It lacked freshness and was a little fishy smelling.2. TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE #2: At least I didnt get sick this time. It didnt smell fishy, but it definitely wasnt cooked moments before I picked it up. Not the best place. I would not recommend if you have real taste for thai food. The service was confusing. The waitress was pretty much unresponsive when we asked for something. The food was okay. Good portion. Noodle soup was plain and soggy. Would not recommend if you want good noodle soup. When we were ready for our tab, it took longer than it should for the waitress to ring us up because she did not understand what were paying seperately meant. Probably one of the weirdest and confusing resturants Ive ever been to.

Quiet place in Santa Cruz downtown. After a nice outing at the natural Bridges State Beach and the lighthouse, we stumbled upon this place while heading back home. We ordered veg Tom yum soup, green papaya salad, veg red curry with Jasmine rice and veggie pad Mee kao which is spicy rice noodles with veggies and tofu and each dish had right quantity and tasted delicious. The price is also very reasonable. Thai decor makes it look authentic. Has nice ambience too.

Santa Cruz has a lot of Thai restaurants, many of which are pretty good. I always end up coming back to Sabieng, though. Tonight, in particular, everything was just on point: the spring rolls were extra fresh; the larb had big flavors of fish sauce, lime, and mint; the tom kha was creamy, with rich lemongrass flavor and meat that wasnt overcooked; the eggplant curry special had big chunks of eggplant in a thick and slightly spicy curry; and the pad see ew had some of the widest and longest wide rice noodles I have ever seen in just enough black bean sauce. Mmm, mmm, MMMM!!! SO good. Plus, all of the staff were great, from the server assistant to the food runner to the waitress. Very friendly to our family (including my 21 month old daughter), attentive to our needs, and they even paced the delivery of the dishes perfectly one after the other, giving us time to savor and appreciate each one while it was fresh and hot. Great job, Sabieng!
