Its decent sushi and food. You can tell as soon as you arrive the type of place it is. Food is served on boats. Theres plenty of space for large and very large parties.

My husband and I love coming here. Weve been coming here pretty much all our lives. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. They have poki bowls, sushi rolls as well as an extensive combination menu featuring dishes like California rolls, tempura, teriyaki and sesame chicken(our usual order). This time we tried their new flavored teas and they were delicious! (Passion fruit black and green tea) Highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

Nice restaurant with an atmosphere of Japan. Lots of Bento food selections and great low prices. The food taste was okay, though. Salmon teriyaki and tempura tasted average if a little below. Beef and chicken tasted great. Service and atmosphere were good.

This place was definitely a let down - I ordered 01/09/22 @8:20 and was so excited to go & pick it up. I came home immediately opened the bags and noticed that the rainbow roll had the topping fish smaller then the actual sushi 🍣 piece. The Philadelphia roll was served on top of the wilted greens which stuck to the sushi rice 🍚 . We ordered a baked salmon roll as well, the roll looked pleasing to the eye unlike the other rolls but the lack of flavor & texture was not satisfying to my flavor palette.

First time in here off a reccomendation. The food was better than I imagined. Service was slow at first but once the food started coming in it was rolling. We tried a few dishes that you cant go wrong with. Check the nook pictures. It was full the night we came in and there was always a wait line. They do offer take out. I ordered a coke and I got a can of coke. First time thats ever happened to me. I rather liked the idea of having my beverage come in a sealed unopened can.👍

I recently went to this restaurant and to say that it was the best food I have ever eaten is an understatement. The flavors are immaculate. The quality of the food at this restaurant is horrendous, and awful tasting. We had a big group, so as you can imagine we dropped around $300. And, we received ketchup with pork cutlet tonkatsu, watered down unflavored udon like they forgot to season the soup entirely, tempura fried in who knows mystery flour (gross) and sushi rolls falling apart due to improper not being rolling. Do not eat here if you care about quality, taste, or getting any sort of value for your money.

Only thing was they need more waitresses I think they only had 2 that night. Had to wait for our food a little longer than expected. And to get refills on our water and tea. Ive been going there with my family for 25 years. They have a new menu now and its fantastic. We went there on a Friday during Lent to eat seafood and the pokey bowl was the best I ever had. The sushi was also really fantastic. The sushi pieces are gigantic and super tasty. Youre really going to love the new menu. This is the best place to go during Lent if you cant eat meat. I know youre not supposed to pig out on fish when you cant meat eat but its irresistible at this place. And the prices are really fantastic too. I wish they had more than five stars.

Really cool, old school atmosphere - very welcoming and relaxing vibe. Excellent service, the staff is very sweet and attentive. The menu is unique from other Japanese restaurants of a similar caliber in that there are a wide variety of combination plates to choose from, as well as boat dinners for sharing. Pretty standard roll menu, but the food overall is great. Definitely will come back for more :)

My family came here this evening to celebrate my mom’s birthday. As we were finishing up our soup, a roach was crawling across the table. It was killed and showed to the server and another staff. The food tastes great here and the service was welcoming. Only thing I didnt like was that my Caterpillar Roll was not executed properly and fell apart when I picked it up. It was a good roll for taste, but Id enjoy it more if it was tightly rolled with a sushi tool more to get the right shape. Ill definitely come back here, but hopefully the other good will be properly executed or I might just go elsewhere for more refined foods.

Although weve lived in West Covina for over 20 years, for some reason weve never been to this Japanese restaurant. So for a pre-Mothers Day dinner, my husband and I decided to try Sakura.OMG! Food was amazing! Service was incredible and I got a chance to talk to a young lady who worked there who was from Japan. She was so helpful and so friendly.I ordered a chicken teriyaki and sashimi plate which was really delicious! Fish was very fresh and serving portions were huge. I ended up taking lots of it home. My husband ordered a stir-fry chicken dish which was huge as well. Loved all the fresh ingredients in his dish as well. We ended up taking a lot of his home as well.I can see why this restaurant has stood the test of time. They have all the right ingredients down pat to operate a great eating establishment: good food, good service, friendly people, large portions, and beautiful relaxed ambiance.

Something special about the CA rolls here... they are large and VERY good. Have eaten here since the 90s, but moved adready from CA 8 years ago. Was visiting San Diego, so took a drive to come here, and was not disappointed! My favorite place to go too, the sushi is amazing. California rolls are the best ive ever had and the salmon rolls are small but the spectacular. The place is so calm quiet and nicely decorated. The service is just how i like it they dont show up to the table too much and not too little. Im the person that knows what he wants and wants to enjoy it uninterrupted. This is one of my favorite spots in the area. The best thing about Sakura is how friendly and welcoming the staff are. I really feel like Im valued as a customer there and they do everything to make sure the experience is fantastic every time I go.The food is great and I recommend getting any combo with a sushi assortment. They have Kirin on tap, which can be rare for Japanese places in LA metro outside of Los Angeles proper, which is a huge plus.If youre in the area, this is a must visit.

I will never return here. Only came because a family birthday party was here, and went to support. Food was bad: tempura soaked with oil in every bite, chicken tasted freezer burned, teriyaki sauce was watered down. I could only manage to eat the food if I covered it in sriracha sauce. However the rice was good and thank goodness for the california rolls or else I would have left hungry. The wait staff were overwhelmed and got mad at someone in our party when they brought out the wrong order to her and they insisted that is what she ordered. Everyone at the table heard her order, and they were the ones who made the mistake. Now I have a stomach ache, and will never be returning.

Ive been here a few times over the years and have never impressed. Today we had the boat with Teriyaki chicken, beef, popcorn chicken, and tempura. As it has been on previous visits, the Teriyaki chicken and beef needed more seasoning and tasted very bland. They tried to mask it all by drowning it in teriyaki sauce. The tempura looked big, but only had small pieces of shrimp and half of it was just breading. The one thing I did really like was the popcorn chicken. Honestly, I only ever come here because of other people. So I dont see myself returning anytime soon.
