2023-10-16 00:05:56Sakura Sushi is a little bit out of the way, not close enough to downtown San Rafael, too far from Novato, and next to a tired cinema. But it is a delightful little place tucked away in Smith Ranch. On both occasions, the Sushi was excellent. On our second trip out, we thought our first experience could be a win over low expectations, so we were prepared to be disappointed. But the preparation and presentation was great, the Sushi was fresh, and service was friendly. The ambience is low-key. It is a small, neighborhood restaurant, so dont go expecting to be blown away by the experience. But with Sushi, it comes down to the food. The freshness of the fish, the skill of the chefs, and the visual delight of the presentation. You wont be disappointed on those scores.

2023-08-08 00:24:16Just your run of the mill sushi joint. Rolls were mostly rice. No real authentic kick. Beverage N/A sucked. Bottled drinks. The water had a familiar lake taste. For 80 plus dollars, I felt robbed. The service was decent but not out of this world. Only 4 patrons were being serviced. The vibe was dead for a Saturday night. Would not recommend.

2023-03-02 22:48:52Loved everything we ordered here! The long crab miso soup was very delicious with a generous portion of crab meat, albeit just a little bit too rich for my taste even though it was tasty and flavorful. Just something I wouldnt be able to finish on my own but sharing it is perfect. The Real Crab California Roll and Baked Scallop Roll were both delicious! Pairing our meal with hot green tea felt so nice.

2022-01-12 15:10:57The poor service and mediocre sushi quality were disappointing when ordering takeout. Order took 90 minutes despite the restaurant telling me it would take 20 minutes. They asked me to return 30 minutes after first arriving, then when I returned, made me (and many others) continue waiting for longer than Id ever choose to wait for takeout if told the truth up front. Then, when handing me my order, they argued that I was being unreasonable when I requested a bit more than the 1 tbsp. of the faux wasabi they first provided. I added an extra star because were in a pandemic. Hopefully this place is just going through a rough time.

2022-04-30 01:55:28This place was absolutely incredible! Came in close to closing, they were super understanding and helped get our orders in. We ordered a lot of their specialties. The Blue Fin and Ika Nigri were both amazing! Would definitely recommend trying them. The King Crab Miso will be talked about for many misos to come. Simply, you must go! They are super worth it!

2020-09-30 23:17:01Id previously given this restaurant 3 stars for inattentive service and pricing, but I am reevaluating since so much has changed during the pandemic (and Id be sad to see this place go!). This place has adapted well to takeout orders. I wouldnt be excited for a delivery order, and prefer to enjoy sushi in the parking lot when air quality is nice.Lunch options come with miso soup and salad. I appreciate that sushi comes in clear plastic while rice dishes are packaged in microwave-safe containers. Food is excellent. Very impressed with the quality of takeout sushi here for the most part. Fish-to-rice ratio is perfect for nigiri!I do think a quarter of the venting miso soup would spill in the plastic bag if you ordered for delivery though. So if you can, skip the delivery and enjoy a pick-up meal. Its a bit on the pricey side but correlates with quality.Pros: top 3 sushi places in Marin, quality food, good lunch selection, thoughtful packagingCons: wait can be long during peak hours, miso soup leaks
