Amazing food. The Tom Kha is outstanding. The marinated cucumbers are perfect. Chicken satay is great.The vibe is spectacular. Cocktails are first class. It gets busy on the weekends and is crowded but that shouldnt stop you from trying to get some of this food.

Great new place. Just what Carlsbad village needed. Located on the second floor northeast corner. We were there 12/23/22-the pizza vendor made a delicious cheese pizza the crust was so good! They shared the food vendor is rotating. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The staff was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to return!

The pulled pork sandwich was much better than I expected! The portion size was large and very filling! I didnt feel overly stuffed after. The tequila drink I had was not bad, it did smell pretty fishy from the Seaweed it was definitely an interesting flavor but I wouldnt get it again. Overall really neat place, the ambiance was really nice and initially when we got there around 4 it was pretty empty. By the time we left around 7 ish it was fully packed with people waiting around for a table. Definitely coming back to try more items of the drink and food menu!

Fantastic experience here - superb drinks and service no matter how busy they are. The owner/bartender Shawn is a magician - calm under pressure and an expert drink creator/craftsman. This place almost qualifies as a speakeasy since only the name of the place is visible from the outside. Ya just gotta know...or simply follow whoever opened the door in front of you!

Super cute new bar in Carlsbad! The service and drinks were great and the inside was so adorable! Definitely will be back. It on the 2nd level next to the vinaka coffee in case you get lost like I did :)

For Carlsbad these guys hit it out the park. The decor, the drinks hell even down to how you receive your bill. Which is inside an old school paperback book. Let’s not forget the music. The vibe is high on weekends.

Can’t say enough about this place. Love the ever changing menu, the drinks are phenomenal, and I absolutely love the staff. They are attentive, interesting, and always willing to play around with different combinations. Carlsbad needed something young, funky, and fresh - Same Same delivers on so many levels.

One of the most creative cocktail programs you will come across. So perfect. The service was impeccable, even when busy. The local crowd loves this bar, for good reason. The menu is very well thought out. Get there early, drink everything, and enjoy the ride.

Came here for my best friends birthday and haven’t stopped thinking about the food since! The Pork Belly Chilaquiles are TO DIE FOR!!!! Chef kills it with the recipes and Kang is THE best bartender I’ve ever had. This place is a must!

Come for the creative drinks - food was just average. The main always menu has a staple burger which is pretty good as are the fries, but not sure it was worth coming back just for it as there are a lot of upscale burgers around. They do vary their special menu each week which is creative and cool. We came during a French themed menu so many of the special items didn’t intrigue us as we aren’t French connoisseurs. However we did try the Gorgonzola gnocchi and it was quite good and well prepared. We enjoyed our overall visit the server was friendly and the restaurant felt more like back of the bar adjacent with picnic table seating.

Same same is a cool blend of New American and Southeast Asian. You feel it in everything from the sesame topped brussel sprouts, to the folded flag tucked behind a lucky cat.Love the concept, loved the execution and the vibe, and the cocktails were top notch.More like same same but better

Love the décor, love the vibes, and love their drink menu. The guys really know what theyre doing, making great-tasting cocktails and super quickly. All the staff has been super friendly and attentive. If it looks super crowded, go inside PAST the bar and check the back area for additional seating, its way bigger than it looks. Highly recommend this much-needed new spot in Carlsbad

Five giant stars.I’m so excited to have a place like this back in our area, it was much needed. Since this is the love child of the people behind the legendary Charles Kenneth (R.I.P.) you know it has to be exceptional. The drinks were awesome and I really liked that they have rotating food vendors providing the meals in the restaurant. It’s a refreshing concept and it motivates me to keep coming back to try new things. Congratulations to the crew for putting this together and welcome back. North County missed you.

Walked past this place one time because it looked packed, then saw the reviews about going inside and around the corner. Scored a table! Drinks were fantastic - we recognized one of the bartenders from The Captain Charles Kenneth (RIP). We didnt get any mains, but the appetizers we had were excellent. My husband said the burnt ends were the best he has ever had...and hes from the south. Decor and vibe are 💯.

But Different is the other half of the catchphrase this bar is named after. And in the best way because when best friends team up to take decades of industry experience and open something of their own you know its gonna be done right. Its not some big rich restaurateur trying to change the landscape its 3 local guys making the neighborhood better. While State street expands and quality neighborhood bars vanish, Same Same provides something different than the dilapidated nearby bars out of touch and living on former glory.Its still got the bones of Clara, but a much needed decor update inspired by travels to Thailand. The pink lighting is surprisingly unstripclub like. Think neon vibes, but classy.They are working on solidifying their final menus and run vendors initially, so check social for the ever rotating offerings. Come for the drinks and ambiance, but stay for the secret desserts.Youll find classics brought with them from former bars along with new inventive ever changing menu. A solid back bar selection lends itself to the fun dice roll game to pick your brown bag random drink. Think Compass mystery wine offerings promotion, but for spirits. Fresh espresso for their espresso martini is a nice touch despite improvements to recipes made with just coffee liqueur, fresh is best.I cant wait to see their final vision come to life as they hit their stride and you shouldnt hesitate to check them out. Locals will recognize these guys and see what good they are doing.

Came almost at closing and were able to find some space in the back for all of us to sit. It was very noisy with the live DJ in such a small space, so it was hard to talk to each other but, nonetheless it was a great little place. Drink prices area about typical to others nearby.

My husband and I came here one night when they had food from Smoke and Salt. Our drinks were delicious and the food was super yummy. Never had I ever drank a Grasshopper in my life… but the drink I had here was so good I could have drank 5 in a row. Also, the service was impeccable! Very friendly staff. We can’t wait to come back!

I was so excited to hear that this little corner of carlsbad village was getting an update! SameSame is exactly what we needed and the nod to the old CK brings things full circle!
