Really hearty and good muffuletta. So many layers and so tasty flavorful. Highlights were the capers and carrots mixed in. We got a 1/4 easy to split amongst two. Was hoping the slaw would have more of a kick or at least be a bigger portion compared to the muffuletta but overall it was a good flavor profile to contrast the muffuletta.

Both of their muffulettas are absolutely incredible- different enough that I shared 1/8 of each and we couldn’t decide which one was better.Top sandwich spot in SF, and nothing else like it right now in the city. Would recommend to anyone- can’t wait to come in another day and try their sausage sandwich which is still unavailable (but they said soon!)Tip- if you’re not eating in walk a half block to Gus’s to get a drink, and then keep going for about 4 mins to the Golden Gate Park and picnic it out. (The sandwiches will hold up the way there + pit stop without getting soggy)

I am from Louisiana, and this is the best muffuletta I have had outside the state, without a doubt. Getting the bread correct is difficult, but they nailed it. I have a new favorite Bay Area sandwich. I am excited to watch the menu expand.

Been following them since they were a pop up. Amazing sandwiches that are stuffed. They really pile it on inside the sandwich and pretty much every bite is a perfect bite. If you love good substantial sandwich, try them out. They also have mushroom version of the muffuletta which I’ll try next time!It’s easy to grab and take a walk to the park to enjoy. The slaw is also recommended! It’s fresh and tangy and if you love the flavor of Dill, you’ll love this!Brown butter cookie is also so good with the salt flakes on top.

Absolutely delicious! Tastes even better than it looks. Got the mushroom vegetarian sandwich and it was extremely flavorful - no sauce or salt needed. Highly recommend!

This spot just opened in April and the 5-star review is totally valid. This sandwich shop was absolutely delicious! We chatted with the owner a bit and this is a classic Italian-American New Orleans sandwich. We tried the classic & the mushroom, both were amazing. A little spice, lots of layers, & great flavour. A must visit spot in a great location.

Their pickled egg salad is mind-blowing. I literally couldnt even imagine how an egg mayo dish could be this elevated but it really is!!!! Always always always recommend my local friends & friends from abroad to try this in sf!! Insanely good. Keep doing what youre doing!!!

I didn’t know what love was till I met Sandy. This is the best food I’ve had here in SF so far in my 6months of living here. Simple and classy presentation. Beautiful roasted mushroom and filling. A nice crisp bread. And enough spice from the olive spread to get your mouth watering and wanting more. It’s SF so expect to spend more on food, but when I tell you Sandy’s is worth every penny, it’s worth every penny…

Having grown up near the Louisiana border in Texas I cant tell you how happy I am to finally have a spot for legitimate Muffaletta in San Francisco. I love the slightly spicy kick theyve added to the olive tapenade while keeping the rest of the dish completely authentic. The bread especially is something special and a taste for my childhood. Grabbing an eighth here and heading down the street to either the Zam Zam or the Gold Cane for drinks will be a regular part of my routine going forward. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The muffuletta is SO GOOD. Just amazing mix of flavors between the Italian salted meats, the spicy olive spread, the soft sesame bread, and just the right amount of cheese. All of the ingredients feel super high quality and fresh. As a bonus, due to its shape, its also very easy and neat to eat, unlike some of the other delicious sandos around town. So glad they opened up in this neighborhood!

They only make Muffuletta (meat and veggie) and a couple other Non-traditional sandwiches. They are legit one of the best sandwiches in SF. Deli board and Alimenti are pretty damn close, but the quality and authenticity at Sandy’s is not to be trifled with. The bread is worth calling out too. Crispy and soft, without it pushing the fixings out the back of the sandwich.

Hands down one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in SF. You know the kind of sandwich where you sit there in silence and savor each bite? The warm crispy bread, meat shaved perfectly thin, spicy olive caper salad with crispy carrots….went waaay beyond expectations. We’ll be back next week!

The single greatest sandwich I have ever had in san francisco. Perfectly balanced ratio of meat to bread and just enough mayo to add richness without being able to taste the mayo. Of course the Olive/pepper mix is really what brings it all together and this one is probably the best in the USA made with olive oil (no seed oils) and I love the capers.

Went on their grand opening with my friend who is a NOLA transplant to SF and used to run a New Orleans restaurant here & now runs a New Orleans Bar in the city. So when I took my first bite of the muffaletta and did the “good food happy shimmy” I covertly gave him the side eye and low and behold he was shimmy-ing too! We turned on some brass band favorites to compliment the sandwiches and crawtater chips and the best lunch!Also - they were slammed on their grand opening, but you wouldn’t know it with how calm and smiley the staff was!Can’t wait to go back 😊

So happy for this team that they now have a brick and mortar. First fell in love with their muffulettas during the pandemic when they were a pop-up in a liquor store. Hoping they rotate in the gumbo and other southern favs they have done in the past but if its only the muffs - well take it! And dont forget to get a brown butter choco chip cookie with your order - just the smell will have you hooked.

Best sandwich in the city, hands down. Dont come here with a mediocre appetite looking for a BLT. Gourmet grilled cheese? Go find a food truck. If you want a muffuletta sandwich so good that Tony Soprano wouldve driven across the country for it AND been full after eating one, look no further. Moni and Petersons shop is the best kept secret on Haight, and we havent even talked about the gumbo and one-off recipes they keep adding. Absolute gem, 14/10.

Sandy’s isn’t just the best muffuletta in San Francisco, but it’s also one of the best sandwiches in the city. Every ingredient from the tapenade spread to the bread to the meat is incredibly high quality, and the amount of care and love that Peterson and Moni put into the business and their customers is amazing. This is one of the best sandwiches in SF. I wasnt a big muffaletta guy until I tasted the magic that Sandys is serving up. These sandwiches are the real deal - top shelf ingredients piled high between two slices of bread. Theyre also massive, which is great because you can save some bites for later.The fun doesnt end with the sandwiches- the coleslaw is so fresh and so clean itll make you want to dance. I always thought of coleslaw as mayo with a side of cabbage - not here. Sandys has reinvented the slaw into a perfect combination of herbs and pickled veggies. Its amazing.Last but not least, the chocolate cookie. This thing is a beast - its everything you look for in a cookie. Proper amounts of chocolate nestled safely in a chewy but not too chewy cookie base. A must have dessert after youve feasted on the muffaletta and slaw.I love coming here for the food but honestly the folks working the shop (Moni and Peterson) are also gems in their own respect. Keep doing the good work!

Sandy’s muffulettas are my vote for “best sandwich in SF”. Stumbled upon their pop up at Corbeaux one weekend and have been picking up muffulettas 2x per week ever since. These are the best muffulettas I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to New Orleans at least 15 times). Super high quality ingredients and totally addictive.

I first found out about Sandy’s through the Chronicle… then Eater… then I couldn’t wait any longer. I’m a sandwich guy — could eat sandwiches every meal of every day. The muffuletta sandwich here is sensational. It’s big, it’s meaty, and it’s packed with flavor. So generous that sometimes I’ll eat half, put the other half in the fridge for a few days, and then do a little toasty toast and it’s back to life. Peterson and Moni, the owners, are really lovely humans and I say “humans” bc they send email updates every couple weeks letting you know how their journey is going, the human parts and the business parts. It’s not all sunshine and daisies, and I appreciate that they’re educating me on what it’s like in their shoes — it gives me all the more appreciation for the great food they’re making.

WOW. What can I say? These blew away my expectations. I grew up in the south and have had many Muffulettas in NOLA and Sandys were honestly better. (Sorry Cochon and City Grocery! :) ) He even has the Zapps spicy crawtator chips which are a must. Cant wait to come back!
