Built on a hill top in the forest, about an hour from Santa Cruz town.Entry is free with a voluntary payment for parking. They are open only on Tues and Sat. You need to reserve the visiting slot a day before at 9 am when the window opens. It gets filled up pretty soon, we got lucky on 2nd try.I visited with family just for curiosity. The area is quiet and peaceful. They distributed prasad. There are 2 beautiful artificial water falls in the premises and a ganapati temple.I felt like the temple could have been constructed slightly bigger since theyve got enough space. It looked very simple to want to drive over an hour for a visit, which is another pain to reserve. Unless you are a hardcore devotee, its okay to stop by once if you are in the area. Otherwise nothing much to see around. Their cafe had only packed snacks, no hot snacks.

It is a Hanuman temple and a peaceful place to be at. It is located in Mt. Madonna area and the road approaching the temple is bit windy. The hardest part is to get a ticket through its online portal; we tried many times but only were lucky the last week. They do have plenty of parking, lot is volunteers helping in different areas, good clean restrooms and a cafe. Do check their web portal before your intended travel.

Beautiful hilltop temple. The views are amazing. A extremely peaceful location.Parking is free but it requires advance reservation. There is a small cafe inside temple premises where you can enjoy Indian appetizers like samosa and hot masala tea with a reasonable price.

Nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains, this gem can be a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the bay area. A peaceful and meditative experience especially during the Aarthi timings. We had great views along the way and at the viewing dock near the temple. There was a whole bunch of deers and turkeys as well. The cafe closes at 5.30 so we werent able to grab any food. They did have prasada and fruits. The need to reserve is a big downer as youll have to book a week in advance for weekend visits.

Sankatmochan Hanuman temple is an epitome of tranquillity nestled in the forested hill of Mount Madonna. Beautiful in a rustic way, it has a simple, yet dignified old world charm blended with elegant modernity. During rains, dense fog hides the flowing valley. The drive up to the temple is in itself divine. Hospitality and piety of the priest and staff need special mention. A small snack corner and a well-stocked books & artifacts store completes the memorable visit. A must for any tourist to California and a periodic to do for any resident of California.
