The service staff and owner I think was really responsive and friendly so I feel bad giving this 3. But overall food was dissapointing if you know what good ramen tastes like. Its not bad but just wasnt good enough. The garlic edamame were fantastic though. Chicken karage just about average taste wise but really soft and juicy. The ramen was the dissapointing one, pork.slices were thick and not soft. Had to put chilli and soya in to make it better. Not bad soup, but nowhere close to original ramen.

Sapporo Ramen is the best in SC! Quick & friendly service, clean and bright atmosphere, and of course delicious ramen. The broth is amazing and the portions are very generous. So yummy!

So what if the atmosphere isnt gorgeous, were here for the food and it was delicious. They sure pack some deep flavor into that broth. They take it seriously and you can taste it.

Very disappointed. It’s not even close to authentic Japanese ramen. The broth was acceptable, but the pork belly was so hard to chew and was not marinated so had no flavor. The egg should be soft boiled and marinated, but the one I got was so over cooked and bland, and most unacceptable was they didn’t even cut it into half. The chicken karaage was also bland too, it was either not marinated or not marinated long enough.Service was good. The lady was really nice and friendly.

Have been to this Ramen restaurant a dozen times and all the dining experiences have been fantastic. I have enjoyed Ko ramen, Karaage Chicken and curry ramen really well. Definitely recommend trying out this restaurant.

More like three and 1/2 but has potential. Agree with other comments, and hopefully they are going to switch to a soft cooked egg as that is sorta a key component. Noodles are quite good though. Many other things on the menu to try, will have to come back.

The Ko ramen was pretty solid. The broth is pretty great and they don’t skimp on the pork belly. I was impressed because I was expecting worse based on the reviews. It everything tasted fresh to me and I’ve had some pretty tasty authentic ramen. They do need another person and maybe even better preparation as we waited almost an hour for our food. They were trying, but it was a bit unreasonably long of a wait even for a lunch rush with a dozen or so people in the restaurant.

The ramen was super tasty! Doesn’t seem to be super traditionally Japanese but was delicious none the less. They suggested the spicy miso, the chicken was super tender with crispy and flavorful skin. Broth was good too. Quick and attentive service, all very friendly

Tried lunch today Thursday for 2. Ordered Kobe ramen, chicken karaage, Tofu karaage.1)Kobe ramen: soup ok. Claimed ‘slow cooked beef rib with bone’ was hard to chew and not even close to ‘Kobe’ quality. Do mot order it.2)Tofu karaage : Tofu too big a chunk. Skin not crispy like normal Japanese style. Sauce bland.3) Chicken karaage: best dish of the 3. Dark meat. Flavorful except too big a chunk, 2-3 times bigger than normal Japanese style.The sever/owner was nice to come to chat with us and listened to our feedback. He did not seems to agree with our comments.

Every time we are in Capitola, we always make time to have a meal at this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious. The cook/owner is wonderful and very friendly. The ramen and curry are out of this world, and I mean amazing!

Very friendly service and best ramen Ive had in this county.The owner is very passionate about his food and it definitely shows in the quality of food I received.I ordered the spicy ramen and it was delicious and spiced perfectly made with fresh noodles and miso. The pork belly skewers were also amazingly delicious. Definitely will be coming back here again.

None of these ramen and foods on the menu are authentic Japanese Ramen (ラーメン) at all. The people who runs the place are not Japanese at all. Accordingly, they misrepresent the authentic Japanese ramen...The soup is also made with something wrong and/ or diluted with non Japanese traditional ingredients added in the soup. They just dont taste right at all.People need to be aware that a lot of Japanese restaurants in the US are actually NOT authentic Japanese at all.

A real hidden gem. Great attention to detail. I can never decide between the Ko or the Squash Ramen. The fried food is done perfectly well with clean properly heated oil. Im already craving more!

Wanted to like this more, but gotta be honest. Got the ko ramen as suggested by other reviewers. First - the broth was good! Tasty broth! But… the “soft boiled egg” was half of an extremely hard-boiled egg, the bbq pork was actually just fat unwieldy chunks of fried pork belly, the noodles were pretty mediocre, and there were very few toppings / choices of toppings to add. Will have to keep looking for another ramen spot.

I really wanted to love this food. The service was amazing, friendly, and fast. The food, though. The pork belly was old and reheated, ramen underdone, and the egg was hard boiled and had been refrigerated. The broth was inoffensive, but unremarkable. All in all, terrible ramen. Maybe not their best dish?

KO ramen was absolutely fantastic. The tonkatsu broth was certainly among the top 3 that Ive had, and Ive made my own 3-day tonkatsu before. The owner is is very passionate about his food and its exceedingly clear in what he serves. The pork belly skewers were perfectly fatty, tender and charred just right. Definitely a place worth trying.

My favorite soup place in the Santa Cruz area(Asian Express is a close second). The Spicy Miso soup is my favorite, but I’ve yet to have a soup or dish that isn’t flavorful and comforting.The staff are friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a bit of comfort today, try their soup and soak in all that goodness.

Dont let the lack of decor fool you. This place has amazing food. Highly recommend the Ko pork ramen. My only criticism is that I wanted more veggies in it. Not in amount but rather variety. You can add more though for extra cost. It is a bit pricey for sure but you get what you pay for each bowl is about 3 large servings but I aint sharing so get your own!

Sapporo Ramen was good, and with some changes could be great. Ramen portions are generous and the broths are tasty. The soft boiled egg in my Ko Ramen was perfectly cooked.The restaurant is small and appropriately lit. There is a weird, funky smell that you notice as soon as you walk in that has been with the building since it was a dim sum place, and likely even before that.The menu is surprisingly large for a ramen joint. Unfortunately, the prices are also higher than one would expect for noodles in broth with some green onion and seaweed. Most vegetables are billed as add-ons, like sweet corn, increasing the price further. The menu lists both dinner and lunch prices, and all dinner prices have been crossed out recently, which is a step in the right direction.My Ko Ramen had good, creamy broth with just the right amount of garlic. The pork belly in the soup was inconsistent; of the four pieces in the soup, two were delicious and tender while the other two were dry, chewy, and hard to eat with chopsticks given the effort it took to bite off a piece.The noodles were alright. I cant say whether they were hand made or prepackaged. Their texture was similar to Maruchan instant noodles that are slightly undercooked.My wifes Gabocha Ramen was okay, with a good amount of flash-fried squash pieces in a mild broth. Her egg was also perfect. She was disappointed that most items she wanted in her ramen came with an upcharge.Overall, it was a filling meal at a place that was not crowded. Service was fast, which is good--we were the only customers!

I really want this place to succeed. I desperately need a consistent ramen joint in Santa Cruz. With that said I have to give some constructive feedback.Pros - Noodles and broth are great. Gyoza was cooked perfectly and served with a sauce on the same level. Portion size with the price matches. Egg was not soft boiled but the hard boiled egg had great flavor.Cons - Zero atmosphere. You can actually here yourself breathing. The decor is quite underdone, not fully painted. Also the tables are really old and used. The absence of any kind of music or noise causes some awkward and tense moments. Also service is extremely prompt and again with no background noise a thought to youre plus one can turn into a rushed order. The pork was delicious but is about 4 times too thick causing huge bites of just fat. Easy fix.All together good but not 5 out of 5. With some work they could be great.

Service was fast and friendly. We ordered Ko Ramen and Curry Karaage Ramen, with gyoza appetizer. Everything was fantastic! The curry was Japanese-style with kambocha and carrots. The ko was shoyu-based and came with very thick slabs of pork belly. A very impressive first visit experience overall.

I honestly wish i could give less than one star for this review. Every expectation was missed entirely. To start you put alcohol on your menu when you cant even serve it which was very upsetting and we should have left right after. Your water somehow tastes worse than the tap in Phoenix Arizona, when we have to take 90% of our drinking water from the Grand canyon, 300 miles away from phoenix. The taste of the food was just... alright. There was nothing spectacular like the other reviews insisted we’d see. And then when we told our server we wanted to leave she seemed upset because we hadnt finished our food. I told her my partner was feeling sick and we needed to leave. I guess she thought it was the food (wonder why). Finally got our boxes and the check and she only seemed to get more upset that i didnt want to take the chicken with me, just the noodles and veggies. Vacations are supposed to be fun and our experience here definitely made it harder to enjoy ourselves.

This restaurant has amazing ramen. I suggest the KO which comes with everything and has an amazing creamy bone broth. Best ramen in the Santa Cruz area by a large margin. The service is always good and the prices are reasonable for this quality of ramen. Seems like handmade noodles and a very good broth.

Brand new ramen shop in Santa Cruz! Finally! This takes the top spot of best ramen in town. Defiantly worth checking out. The restaurant is really small, so make sure to call ahead of time and check their wait. But trust me when I say, this restaurant is the move for your dinner plans.

A hole in the wall that has tasty ramen good enough to satisfy my ramen cravings. Didnt blow me away but service was fast, friendly, and everything was clean. We split a bowl of Spicy Miso ($12.99) + $2 for extra ramen noodles. This particular verrryyy came with half of a soft boiled egg which was nice, so we didnt have to add it for another $1.50. All said we paid $20 to split a meal so I was pretty pleased. A big guy would def not be able to split like we did, both of us eat a medium amount. We went on a Thursday at 8:20 and were out of there by 8:55. Would recommend, would go again.

It’s the perfect hole in the wall authentic ramen house. It’s one of the only ramen places on this side of the hill and I absolutely love it. I honestly crave it daily and travel from the mountains for this special meal. I highly recommend.

We tried the Ko (pork belly), spicy miso, and kabocha (vegetarian) ramen soups, and all were delicious. Would encourage owner to slice the pork belly pieces thinner so they soften in the soup faster. Totally works as takeout food. Just make sure the broth is hot before you add the noodles and other ingredients (reheat broth via stovetop or microwave if necessary).
