I got some take out, lovely food. Fresh tasting, friendly staff. But sorry the pricing is crazy. $17.99 for Cajun tuna is fine if you get enough food…two pieces is just crazy. I’ll give it another go, but this wasn’t a good start for pricing.

The sushi here is delicious! The servers were really personable and great, very attentive of ones needs. Ive dined in and ordered take-out from here and both times Ive left happy with their service. I definitely recommend checking this place out, but it is very busy during the evenings, so if you decide to dine in or take out later on in the day, be sure to do it in advance so you arent waiting too long.

A bit of a let down. We were excited to try this place as it is close to home. Maybe its a one off, but it wasnt a good experience. Timing was way off on our food. Plates came out 5 minutes apart. We never received Wasabi, ginger, or the soy sauce dishes. Asked for a to go container for our ramen, waitress forgot about it. Manager stopped by another 5 minutes later and asked us if we needed anything else.Food was also not great. The ramen looked liked they popped open a 10 cent bag of top ramen and through in an over boiled egg.Rolls were light on fish and heavy on krab salad but were priced like it was a high end sushi joint.C- at bestDissapointing!

Been waiting for sushi in San Elijo Hills for years. And, living within a one-minute walk, I plan to be a regular. Went the day it opened and a couple times since. The service is great, the young servers are pleasant and attentive, the ambiance is lovely, and the sushi is spectacular. Well done!

Highly recommended checking this place out! I have been here a few times and already planning on going back. The staff is so friendly and their service is amazing as well. I’ve gotten their lunch specials twice and have been very pleased with the quality of the food!

Poor customer service! Food was decent but they ended up charging my credit card for everyone in the party after we all had separate bills! The waitress was wonderful but the management seemed ill equipped to handle situations. Took them 30 minutes to void and redo my charge. I will be checking my account as it seemed they were very confused about the process! I got a sorry but nothing else for wasting my timeUPDATE: I do agree that it only took seven minutes once they were able to delete the original charge but up to that point it took at least 15 minutes to figure out how to delete my original charge and then recharge the correct amount. 15 minutes and multiple phone calls. I know because my co workers had to get back to work and I ended up being late

My wife and I went to Sapporo (in San Elijo) last night and OMG... hands down the best sushi Ive had in a long time. They had rolled out a new menu which featured an Omakase option ($80 - $100 depending on MP of fishes used, I assume) and it was worth every penny. We sat at the sushi bar the chef preparing our food was nice enough to explain everything after presented... Hokaido Scallop with Uni, Japanese Mackerel, Chu-Toro, Ama-Ebi, a couple types of Halibut & Yellowtail - every item better than the next.We also shared two rolls (YellowYolo and Chichibe) - both excellent as well! The sushi chef also gave us a couple little samples of other items (Dynamite and Otoro (the super-fatty part of Toro)) which were great also. My wife and I were joking that we thought the staff might have thought we were food critics or something... but Ill happily accept the extra freebies. The place is one of the pricier options around town (our bill was $180 for the Omakase, rolls, 2 beers, sake and some edamame). But... if you dont mind paying a few extra bucks and driving up the hill to San Elijo - its worth it.The two downsides (if Im being petty)... this is a pretty new location from what I can tell. Seems like they still have a few bugs to work out w the floor staff. They seem to do an everyone is responsible for every table approach - which is good in theory. But on both occasions Ive been there, it seems to manifest more like someone else is taking care of it so it can be a little slow to get a servers attention at times. And being super-petty... the restaurant is very bright. Theyd do better to dim the lights in the indoor seating area to give it a little bougier & more intimate feel. But neither the service or atmosphere items are enough to affect the overall 5-stars. The sushi itself overcomes any other shortcomings.:)

San Eljio finally gets sushi! Solid food options beyond cut rolls, etc., too, although we didnt try them. The service and atmosphere, along with the quality of the fish, will definitely bring us back.
