Good service, good appetizers, but average ramen. Karage chicken was very juicy and tender, and the steamed egg was very well made. However the main event is somewhat disappointing, the yuzu ship ramen had no yuzu flavor at all, just a couple of slices of lemon and lime (which is not yuzu!!) on top, the tonkatsu is also just alright, nothing special to note. All of the ramen were quite salty as well.

This ramen place is great. The ramen is delicious and always hits the spot. Both service and food are nice and consistent, which I appreciate. I absolutely love the Spicy Karaage chicken, it is bomb and has a nice little heat to it. I have been here several times and will continue to return.

Loved the restaurant atmosphere and the spaciousness between tables. We tried the yuzu shio ramen (really unique by virtue of the yuzu flavor, super delicious, finished the whole bowl), the tonkatsu ramen (solid, delicious, three party members liked it), the karaage (crunchy, nice texture), and the takoyaki (perfect). Everything tasted great. Serving sizes were good. Will return sometime.

I would come back for the ramen but nothing else on the menu.ordered the tomagoyaki (Japanese styled omelette roll with sausage and topped with ketchup and mayo). 3 stars out of 5: nothing stood out but it wasnt bad. could skip.two Tonkutso remen, one original and one spicy. yes yes yes. the broth is so good and u can taste the pork flavor coming through it. the portion is pretty good. i didnt finish mine but i definitely drank up all the soup.

Swung by for takeout on a weekend evening. Restaurant was nice with a laid back but elevated vibe. Vibrant and nice decor. Staff was friendly, food was prepared quickly. I tried the yuzu shio ramen and had no complaints! The soup was hearty, noodles were soft but chewy. Good flavor and a filling meal. Decently priced, would go back again.

Trying this ramen restaurant because it is so close to my house and it has good reviews 😌 First of all, service is really great and staff is sooo smiley!The foods are delicious 🤤. My party orders 3 different kinds of ramen; tonkotsu, spicy tonkotsu and shoyu. The shoyu stands out the most for everyone because it tastes unique 🌟 It is light, but also very flavorful. It’s rare to find a good shoyu ramen. The tonkotsu is also delicious, but I feel like I’ve had such good tonkotsus at other places before. The chashu is AMAZING 🤩 It’s just sooo right in many ways. It is tender, it melts, it is charred very nicely, it is perfect! Try this restaurant when you are in this area.

The food was pretty decent for the price. I definitely think there are better places but this will definitely fill you up. The tonkatsu curry rice comes with miso soup. I personally wished there was more curry with the rice but besides that, this place does a good job.

Havent been to Pasadena in a long while and glad that we were able to try this restaurant. It was pretty packed for a Wednesday night. We waited a while to get seated, maybe 30 minutes or less.Service can be improved as the servers seemed to be short staffed last night. Both servers last night were still very accommodating to our needs.Ambiance was laid back and chill! Not too crazy loud, still quiet enough to have conversations while enjoying the amazing food.The chicken karaage was amazing! It was the perfect mix of savory and crunch delicious! The soft shell crab bun was very, very good too! Mind you that the mayo can be a bit spicy.And for the ramen!!! Im usually not a Shoyu person when ordering ramen, but the reviews here just made me do it. Im happy to say I did not regret ordering it as I was able to finish everything. Only downside with the Shoyu ramen is that it only has half of the egg.

Was interested to try Mazesoba, but liked there were also standard ramen and rice bowl options on the menu. My dish looked small, but after mixing the egg yolks it ended up being a very filling meal. They also provided rice vinegar and chili oil to enhance the flavor. Waiters and owner came by often to check on us and refill drinks. Overall was a great meal with great service.

I came here because of the Yuzu Ramen. Yuzu is one of my favorite Japanese foods which has a very special flavor and taste. Normally, you can only have Tonkotsu Ramen in most of the Ramen restaurants in the US. Their Yuzu Ramen is super delicious and you can taste the Yuzu in the noodles. I love chashu which they grilled before serving so you can taste the pork. Tonkotsu Ramen is very good too.By the way, if you love heavy taste, it might be better to choose spicy ramen.The service is something they need to improve. I have never gotten my water refilled.

Came here for lunch when I was working out of a coworking space in Pasadena. Great ramen place. Tried Vegan Mazesoba. The teriyaki sauce on the tofu was amazing. Quick service as well. All my colleagues loved their dishes too. Will come back again.

A wise man once said that the pen is mightier than the sword, and although I doubt the subpar prose that youre about to read will give any validity to this statement, my main aim is to convince you of a similar-sounding axiom: the chopstics are mightier than the fork, knife and spoon.Imagine this, its yet another Saturday noon under the harsh and unforgiving California sun during the summer time, youre getting hungry and of course your mind wanders amongst the myriad of options at your disposal here in foodie land, aka, SoCal. Of course, if youre craving soup, ramen is the way to go (if youve been following my reviews, you know Ive baptized ramen as the only soup worth eating, and I stand by that statement 100%).Youre in Old Town Pasadena and walk past this unremarkable place with a very nondescript storefront, but then you backtrack and notice the name: Sato Ramen House and think to yourself isnt this place the one mentioned by that wannabe food critic on Yelp?, then you decide to give it a chance.Lets start with appetizers: the takoyaki are deep fried octopus ball that you MUST order. Theyre covered in this nice, crunchy panko breading and theyre cooked to perfection and drizzled with a sauce straight from the Emperor Of Japans personal stash. The snowy Karagee fried chicken is what KFC wish their chicken were, but healthier. Make sure to squeeze some of the juice from that lemon wedge it comes accompanied with.Now the heavy hitters: the maze soba (it roughly translates to mixing Japanese buckwheat noodles) is perfect for sulty days. Its like ramen minus its perfect broth, but its complemented with more toppings and a raw egg. To get the full effect, make sure to, after having taken a cute pic for the gram, MIX thoroughly everything that is inside your bowl. The server will also bring a special soy sauce and vinegar that you can add a bit to, in order to bring out the flavors more.The shoyu ramen is surprisingly solid and although not as tasty as his older brother, the tonkotsu ramen, its still a solid choice. The chasu pork on both of these bowls of ramen are fantastic, cooked to perfection and seasoned with just the right amount of everything.Truly a must-go place if youre a lover of Japanese cuisine, like me, or just of good food in general... also like me :D. Service was fantastic and fast too. The place is clean, well-lit and with enough A/C to temporarily shelter you from the aforementioned harsh and unforgiving California sun during the summer time. Had the tonkotsu ramen and gyoza. A few pieces of meat were very tough so it wasn’t my favorite ramen. Overall it was fairly good, can’t beat the very affordable prices. Under $40 for two people and had leftovers. Not bad!

Its my favorite ramen restaurant in Pasadena. Ive came here 4 to 5 times. Each times I tried a new dish and it became my new favorite. Any dishes with egg in it are amazing. I love the curry too. Theres a lot of ramen place in the area but this one is the best. I wanted to gate keep this but the food are just too good.

Stopped here for a late Sunday lunch. Every bite was delicious. I had the vegan mazesoba, and took the servers advice with the chili oil and vinegar drizzle. The umami flavor from the mushrooms was just perfect. My dining companions had the tonkatsu and raved about it. The appetizer of tamagoyaki was unusual and yummy. We were also brought a free portion of takoyaki, fried to perfection. All in all, an excellent meal, good value for money. Well definitely be back.

This was a mind-blowing meal. The staff was warm and welcoming, providing detailed recommendations and making sure I understood the best way to enjoy my dish. I got the spicy garlic edamame to start: a delightfully light and flavorful app, way more worth the stomach space than typical sea salt-only edamame. The Deluxe Mazesoba with a poached egg absolutely rocked my world. It was bursting with flavor and the chashu was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I could happily eat here every week.

Even if you dont like ramen theres so much to pick from you cant go wrong.Been here a few times and havent found something that somebody disliked! 5/5 from every person whos visited.I cant stress enough that the food is priced incredibly well for how high quality it is. You can be in and out for less than $15/person, although Im not sure youll want to with how many good options there are.

Ramen was 8/10 very nice. The appetizers were yummy. We got the rolled omelette, takoyaki, and tonkatsu. The curry was the type I love. Service was very nice and they were attentive. I’d definitely recommend to family and friends.

Great place. Were traveling for business and stopped in here for some ramen. They did not disappoint. The music was good, which I dont normally think about when I go to a place. The service was excellent. Very fast and super friendly. The waiter actually suggested some Japanese beers to try and they were really good. The ramen was off the hook good. Ive not ever tasted ramen like that but that taste was unbelievable. Will return when I travel back here again.

I lived in Japan for 13 years and in Korea for 2, so I know my ramen. The Tonkotsu Ramen here is the best, hands down, Ive ever had! The portions are generous and the price is incredibly good for the quality of the restaurant. Do yourself a favor, eat here today!

The Chasu Mazesoba was delicious! So was the tonkotsu ramen. The service was super friendly, I think it was the chef himself who served us (it wasnt busy when we were there). My partner said the tonkatsu curry was ok, nothing to write home about. Great atmosphere, beautiful lanterns and wall mural, two big TVs on The basketball game though.

Loved everything I tried! The Black Trufflle Chawanmushi was light and creamy. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen had the perfect spice, the chashu was very tender. I dont like bamboo, but the marinade really toned down the strong taste of bamboo and it had a nice crunch to it. They gave a small taster of chashu fried rice, which was flavorful. The ambience was nice, loved the Japanese decor, but the TVs were a little strange and not necessary. The customer service was wonderful, the waiter was friendly and provided suggestions. I give the bathroom 4 stars out of 5, it was modern, new, and clean.

My husband and I arrived just after 9pm on a Saturday, and were seated immediately. We ordered the tonkatsu curry rice and the yuzu shio ramen.The tonkatsu was crisp and well seasoned. The accompanying curry had excellent flavor: rich and comforting. The yuzu ramen was bright, refreshing and soothing: the noodles had a wonderful chew and the chashu had a great smoke flavor.We were also able to try the fried rice, which was well seasoned and had excellent texture.The service was excellent and restaurant very clean. We will definitely be returning!

Funny story, I realized I left my leftovers after our stay, and I thought that if I went back to see if they still had my bag, they would’ve told me they threw it out, but to my surprise they kept it for me! I enjoyed the rest of my ramen when I came back home. :) Their food was really great. I really loved the fried chicken appetizer and the staff were suppper friendly! This place is absolutely delicious and wonderful. The customer service is out of this world and the owner Robert and nighttime waitress are the most delightful people!First off they took us in moments before closing, and half way through our meal Robert came out to check on us and ask what we thought about the food. I mentioned how delicious it was and how excited I was to return to taste the curry.Minutes later he returned back with a portion of curry! We were shocked! No one has ever done that for us! It’s so clear that they put so much passion and care into their food and business.The waitress even bagged up our food and offered a togo cup for our soda!!!If you’ve been to Japan you’ll be sure to be transported back between the food and hospitality. Every bite is rich with umami and flavor and I am so bummed I can’t come to eat here every single day.You can tell that the ingredients are fresh and high quality, don’t even get me started on portion size and price. 10/10 would recommend, any negative reviews on this place are probably coming from people who haven’t been to Japan or haven’t experienced authentic Japanese cooking.

Ordered the mild spicy tonkotsu ramen and beef gyoza for takeout. The ramen was great even after the drive home. The broth is well balanced - flavorful but not too salty or too rich - and has impressive depth and dimension. The noodles were good and the chashu was nice and tender but still lean and not overly fatty. The staff was friendly and professional, the space looked clean and orderly, and my order was ready with minimal wait. I would certainly go back.

The staff here is phenomenal. Super fast service and they work as a great team together. We had our table attended by 4 different staff and all had exceptional service and speed. Our waiter gave us good suggestions on what to eat, and they were tasty. Food was maybe 4 stars, but enjoyed the staff so much I’ll definitely come back

This ramen shop shares the same name as my family, so we knew we had to check it out. I tried the yuzu shio ramen and really enjoyed it. The chasu was soft and savory, whole the yuzu have it a unique fruity flavor. Overall, pretty happy with my experience and would come back again!

Absolutely wonderful ramen! Get the tonkotsu, you will -not- be disappointment. The broth is deeply rich and thick, the noodles have a great chew and nice thickness to them, and the chashu is perfectly marbled with fat that just melts in your mouth. Beautifully savory, definitely one of my favorites. The snowy kaarage was intensely crispy but not overly cooked, and the takoyaki had an intense umami profile that I can only assume was due to well balanced dashi stock in the batter; incredibly fresh and crispy. Service was top notch!

The owner Robert and his staff are the friendliest and most professional workers I’ve experienced with food service. The food is genuinely something special, well priced, and well portioned. Having been to Japan this place is the closest to the real thing. If I could give six or even ten stars I would. Don’t sleep on this place!

Edited:Earlier review at the end with 5 stars.We went back with our toddler and while all the things below are still true I have never felt more unwelcomed and uncomfortable in a restaurant. She was being a kid but not unusually loud or messy. The place was empty and we go out to eat a lot so I know it wasnt her fault but rather the server/chef.Delicious food with great flavors, good pricing

My experience was bad. If you are walk in maybe. But I m.not advice delivery. They dont serve on order received, they left delivery at last. Young man at front says 40 minutes its ok. I saw walk in ordering and got served. They got me for more than 25 minutes and still they told me 10 more minutes. People order and paid in advance have to wait 1:30 for their food. Awful

The atmosphere is awesome. The environment is clean and tidy. Decorations are great and the foods are authentic delicacy. It’s good value for the money.Spicy agedashi tofu is tasty and the skin is crispy. Snowy karaage fried chicken is very tender. Tonkotsu ramens soup is rich in flavor. And spicy Tonkotsu ramen is highly recommended. But I ordered hot spicy. Not that much spicy haha. The meat in Ramen is very tender and tasty.The service from the clerk is very friendly. The interior of the store is very clean and very comfortable and spacious. I ordered the Tang Yang chicken, which is super tender and the skin is so soft. The lemon is very good at relieving the greasiness.The tofu in La Yang is also very popular. There are eight pieces that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.The portion of ramen is large and there are many noodles. The tonkotsu soup is very rich and delicious. This is the most delicious ramen shop I have ever eaten. The real thing is 100% the same as the picture. Only when you eat it can you experience the happy taste. The service attitude is also the best I have ever seen. They treat them like old friends. It also warms every guest at the table. 👍 I’m so touched by everything here
