The sashimi and sushi rolls did not meet our expectations in terms of freshness and the flavors were mostly missing. The server recommended a bento box but we were in the mood for sushi. We tried this place because it was rated very highly and felt disappointed.They have free hot tea and miso soup.

We came on Juneteenth after 1) disappointment at KISEKI - only quick bites now and nigiri was completely removed from menu 2) went to the other Satomi accidentally 3) and there was a wait I guess it was a holiday. We came at around 1:00pm and the wait was around 20 minutes. Only one staff so we expected some wait after we placed the order, but she tried her best!Food was delicious and we are from Seattle (plenty of Japanese restaurants). We had katsu, tempura combinations, nigiris for ika, hotate and uni (of course for uni we ordered two), and lion king roll. I came to the conclusion that this definitely worth our wait!Will come again, and so far, best Japanese restaurant in Fremont!

It is one thing to be efficient and another to be served poorly. Our server took and brought orders for the party after us before she interacted with us. We felt unwelcome. I do believe there are better sushi places in town. You also get the impression they want to rush people through the place.

The service is prompt, actually too fast...as I felt rushed out without even eating my food. Too many reminders of their closing time, at 833 and then 837. Im like I Know you close at 9. 2x.Prices are good for the value. What tastes like sweet mayonnaise as a Sauce on top of my Out Of Control Roll was disgusting. After I scraped that off it was okay

Been coming to the Thornton location for the longest time and didnt realize they opened up a new one on Mowry.This location used to be Semo..not sure what happened, but that was one of the great sushi spots back in the days.Anyway, sushi was small, not sure if this is the norm now in Fremont, but food quality was not too bad.We ordered quite number of rolls and satisfied a family of 5.Service was good, but we still prefer the one in Thornton.

At Satomi Sushi, they have the best Salmon Teriyaki and Tempura, Bento # 8.You can order sushi from the bar for appertizer. I ordered Sake (Smoked).There are two pieces in the order, and the smoked salmon is really good.Try it so youll have seafood lunch/dinner.Enjoy!

Excellent service and the food was quality and delicious. The ambiance was fairly commercial, no statements to catch the attention, just simple, clean, professional. Overall an excellent place to get a meal on the day to day, but if you want a bit more wow factor for a special occasion this is not the place.

I was greeted the minute I walked in and was offered to sit wherever, the minute I sat my server had already brought me soup to my table and was asking me if Id like anything to drink. Very impressive.... I got the money brains appetizer & the Lucky 7 sushi roll, both were excellent. The fish was fresh and the sauce was flavorful, I would definitely eat here again.

A rather simple Japanese family style restaurant. The ambience is no so conducive as you would see in typical Japanese restaurants. More to American style with simple setting inside. The golf is just average to my liking. All are in large size or jumbo size, ordered sushi platter and sashimi platter .. however sushi platter comes with sashimi y I think is duplicated since we have sashimi platter. The spicy tuna sushi was great and unagi sushi too.. the cut of the sashimi is in jumbo size which typically not the way the sashimi to be prepared . Sushi rice is way too much and you probably fill after 2-3 pieces. The tempura is ok as no seasoning of the prawn taste bland. Service was attentive and just an average American style Japanese restaurant.

The food here is great. The prices are more on the expensive but it is very worth it in my opinion. The service was great and all the waters and teas were always filled. Servers were nice and overall, this is definitely a great place to get some American Japanese food in Fremont. Its also not very busy as it is a new branch so there wasnt a wait when I went there for dinner on a Sunday night.

Visited this place recently for a date night with the husband while he is in town for work... This place was suggested by a co-worker. Portions are generous and food was good. I think I would have enjoyed more if it werent for the heavy sauce, hence the missing star... But staff was friendly and wasnt as busy as ud expect for a Saturday night. The calamari was the best weve had in a long time. The Juno roll was good too, next time Ill request LIGHT sauce. Wed go back.

6/22/2019Not bad, my dad claims the original Satomi is better but they taste very similar to me.The rolls are always great here but I have always felt their fish quality is not the best. Its not bad at all but rolls are definitely better than nigiri or sashimi here. One of the older ladies would ask us what we wanted to drink and just walked away half way during our order and we waited 20 minutes for the drink. Never came out.Our actual waitress was very sweet though and accommodating. The sashimi platter is not a bad deal - 40 pieces for $50? Not bad at all. I would come back since it is near by and the wait seems better than the Thornton location!

I know a little bit about restaurants and commercial kitchens. One way to get a sneak peak into the kitchens cleanliness is by asking to use the restroom before ordering. If the restroom is clean, you can bet the kitchen will need as well. Satomi had an imaculate bathroom. Yeah it was a bit pricey, but it was well worth every penny. The portions were huge, the ingredients were fresh, and the service was friendly and helpful. I try not to rate things with 5 stars because I believe theres always room for improvement. Not so here.

Good sushi restaurant with plenty of choices. Our group went for dinner. They have your standard sushi roles, like the lion king, 49er role, and spicy tuna. They have a good balanced of raw and cooked sushi, so youll find something in the middle. I got the flaming dragon roll and the bento box #9. The bento box portion size was really good and fair for the price point its at. Highly recommend it to get the best of everything the restaurant has to offer. For apps we ordered the Agedashi Tofu, it was very delicious. Service staff were very pretty responsive, kind, and engaging with us.

I’m so disappointed. I went to grab a couple lunch specials. I even asked for the specials. It was 50 dollars for two small bento boxes. The chicken was over cooked, 1 soy sauce and only a pinch of wasabi that had no flavor. Chicken and rice Dishes are pretty expensive! This location is so under staffed that they cannot keep up. I placed my order ahead of time and it said it would be ready at 6:45pm. I got there a little early to find a line out the door. I thought the line was for people waiting to be seated, but then asked to find out it was the line of people waiting for their take out orders. Once I checked in,I was told that my food wasnt going to be ready until 7pm despite my email confirmation. I then stood there to wait and discoverer that the issue wasnt with the food being made on time, it was with someone needing to package it. Instead of packaging orders as they came out, the food was just sitting there until they had a chance to get to it. The food was still good, but knowing that orders were sitting there ready while we were all waiting was insane. Please hire more help here!

Horrible horrrrrible service. We spent 200 dollars again here. We ask the lady to write the names on the container so we know whos food is what. Its a large order for many people. The lady who works the front was furious about this and had the nerve to demand a tip. When I said no she made me wait 45 minutes for an order that was called in 20 minutes ago... in a time where restaurants are struggling. She should be fired. The food is great but I wouldnt ever recommend this place spend your money where its appreciated

Great food....terrible service. Before I start this review, I want the readers to know we have beenSatomi customer for at least 10 years. Arrived with family at 8:45pm and placed an order. 8:50PM sharp, cleaning supplies smell takes over the restaurant which closes at 9:30. Clearly, they didnt want us in there. When I asked the gentleman behind the counter about it, he said, it doesnt matter that customers were still in the restaurant and its their job to clean up. I was surprised with his ridiculous answer. We politely canceled the order and left. Its very unfortunate their customer service is not as good as the food. Avoid going to this place an hour before close.

I cant remember everything we ordered but I know the Flaming Dragon roll was killer. The bottle of Nigori Sake (unfiltered) went great w our food. Im not going to say anything about the service because we are in the middle of covid-19. So itll be a four-star review, however, I have some feedback that will help make the take out pick up process a little easier.Allow the people in line to come into the restaurant one by one to drop their name.This way, they can wait outside the front of the restaurant until you emerge with the order and call out the corresponding name.But, about the food. Everything was as expected.However, instead of using the term seared for your salmon which has been flamed with a blowtorch, you should say that the salmon is flamed.I ordered Andys Roll and it just tastes of kerosene. If the menu stated that the salmon was going to be flamed, I wouldnt have ordered this roll.Seared salmon is different from flamed salmon. Im just explaining because its a big deal for salmon lovers. I couldnt get past three bites.But, the Fremont roll was hella good and the dancing spicy tuna was okay. I would have liked it to be more spicy.

I went to have lunch here the other day. Honestly, not that impressed with the food. I ordered the sake don, which is supposed to be just salmon sashimi on top of bed of sushi rice. It came out with a bunch of other things that I ended up discarding since they dont really fit well with the food. With sushi the rule is usually less is more. You dont much too much stuff on it and keep it simple.The restaurant itself is quite spacious, although for some reason they keep it dimmed. The service was quick and good, the bathroom was clean. Overall theres not much to complained about this place, but there are definitely better options for sushi in the bay area.

One of the best sushi places in Fremont at the moment! The food is always fresh and comes out usually very quickly. They give miso soup when you sit down which is a really nice way to relax as you look through the menu. Its also a nice place to go if theres a game on because they have multiple TVs!

I understand that eel and avocados are a lot more expensive but this is just a very bad practice to save cost. The place is big but not a lot of guests. Satomi Sushi is our favorite sushi restaurant period! No other place we have visited, ANYWHERE comes close to Satomis! They set the standards for the best sushi!!!! We always sit at the sushi counter, we love the service, the chefs and the food is outstanding. The chefs already know what our favorites are when we walk in the door with a warm greeting. The menu is amazing! Weve been going to Satomi once a week for years, do yourself a big favor....go tonight. It will be your favorite sushi spot too! Their assorted sashimi is out of this world, the rolls are amazing, my favorite is the chopped hatote with spicy mayo, tobiko and green onions. They make that just for me, but it is OK if you try it.

This sushi spot (it would be more accurate to call it a sushi rolls restaurant), has undergone a few changes over the years. The name has changed a few times, as well as the management, seemingly. The current manifestation is a good one, as I was happy to see an ethnically diverse staff working in unison. Even thought it was a buzzing Friday dinner service, the food came out very fast, especially the sashimi. Not too many interesting kinds of fish on offer, just your standard maguro, salmon, yellowfin, and whitefish. But it was all fresh and cut into manageable slices. The tempura appetizer was tasty and generously portioned. The waitstaff was very attentive.

Ordered food for pick up. Got the grilled squid, karage, and sashimi. From calling in to picking up my food, it took around 30 minutes.Pros:- Grilled squid was super legit. Not the calamari rings that are frozen but an entire squid that was grilled and covered in the house sauce.- Karage was bomb. Crunchy and still very moist.- Sashimi tasted fresh. Not the best, but good enough.- Reasonably pricedCons:- They have a large shared parking lot, but at peak hours, you’re probably going to have to search for a place.- Atmosphere is definitely on the louder side.
