Very impressed. Tasty food, beautiful presentation, large portions. We ordered the 3 item Dinner Combo-salmon and beef teriyaki and chicken sukiyaki. Meal comes with rice, salad, miso soup and 4 pieces of Ca. roll. Chapeau to the chef Jesse and thanks to our server Damber.

Visited Sep 2023. Inflation has hit this store also. The price and its structure changed quite a bit. I think it went up by at least 25%. The food is still good as well as the service, but the value has gone down. I am keeping it at 5 stars but lamenting the continuing high inflation rate...Went a few more times since the review below. Consistently good food with value.As they advertise on their wall, delicious food, large portions, and friendly service. Other than a bit salty miso soup (though it was good), everything was good on the 3-item combo meals as in the photo. Ah yes, the price was quite reasonable for the portion and taste. Next time, well try the nigiri and sashimi plates. Recommended.

We have done many takeouts and they were always satisfying, so we came to try dine in.It could be busy on weekday night, but it was ok on Sunday noon.The sashimi was thicker than my fingers, the yakiniku came with a decent amount, and the scallop was more tasty than takeout.The service was also really good. We will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

I had a take out and the food was decent overall. Rolls tasted good, but I wouldnt call the size generous. The only complaint I have is the super expensive miso soup which cost $4. I thought the portion would be fairly big for the price, but it came in a tiny tiny portion.

This is our go to sushi place after our other sushi place closed. We have been coming here for years and the food has always been very consistent and good. We never have to wait very long if at all for a table and there’s always plenty of parking.Our food comes out quickly and they can even make some special nigiri that is not on the menu for us.I like ordering the fried oysters because they come out hot and briny and delicious

Another good sushi place in this area to try out. Sushi was great in taste and the the size was perfect. It was crowded on a Saturday evening and service was little slow because of short staff. We ordered five sushi rolls and four were packed in one box which proved difficult when eating. Although the price was on the higher end on this type of sushi in this area, but it was worth it.

Well, my girlfriend and I went here for the first time... you know, to try a new spot. I think its a small, family-owned business, which Im 100% down with, but the beef teriyaki I had was really fatty meat. And the chicken teriyaki my girl had was very dry. Unfortunately, I just cant recommend the place and we wont be back. Neither of us like sushi, so maybe thats the bang up specialty where they shine. It is right next door to Baskin Robins, so you can always grab a cone afterwards! 😉

Top horrific take-out experience ever. I arrived on time and waited another 1hr+ for my order. An entire family of four walked in with no reservation and finished their meal before i received my food. Staff were not apologetic despite my providing tip on the initial online order. They have a huge variety of interesting rolls, which are generally pretty huge. But the star of the show is their sashimi. Really, really high quality fish with generous portions. They have some of the best hamachi Ive ever had. We didnt get uni this time, but Id definitely trust them to procure the best of the best, and need to try it next time.The spicy tuna and saba (pickled mackerel) are both fairly mild, Not such intense spiciness or fishiness.

I have been to this sushi place for over 7 years now. I took a long break due to the pandemic, and I started coming back here. I missed this place so much, and Satsuma Sushi has improved a lot!Parking: Kind of busy, but we were still able to find some spots.Customer Service: The employees were friendly. We have known Damber and Michelle for a long time, and they are super friendly, helpful, and efficient!Best Part: The Golden Bear Roll was really tasty.Worst Part: The Victorias Secret Roll made my stomach upset afterwards, so I probably wont order that again.Tips/Recommendations: Try their Golden Bear Roll and Flaming Dragon Roll! Those are my top two favorite.Return: Most definitely, I have been going here since I was super young!

Sadly service was pretty bad today. We have been here numerous times through the years so today was disappointing. We, my husband and I arrived 20 minutes prior to opening. Door was open so we walked in and were quickly told not to enter as they were not yet open. So we walked outside to wait. At 4:47 a hispanuc couple and their elderly mom walked in and a fellow came to them at the door and told them they were not open. At 4:50 a caucasian couple walked in and they were seated. At 4:55 a caucasian women walked in and was able to pick up and pay for her to go order. At 5:05 we walked in again and a fellow told us to follow him. He quickly walked ahead and set menus on a random table and walked away. Though the food was decent, service was poor even though they advertise very friendly staff! I guess that means to some . . .

At the Satsuma Sushi restaurant on El Camino next to Best Buy, I ordered the sashimi lunch which consisted of 9 pieces of sashimi, a bowl of miso soup, steamed white rice, and hot tea. The sashimi was tasty and good quality. Miso soup was OK, not bad but could be better. White rice is – well – plain white rice.What was irritating was the semi-loud rock music that Satsuma Sushi played. Rock music in a Japanese restaurant?? Not copacetic. That irritation means that I probably will not return unless I heard from the owner/manager that they will play gentle or no music.The waiter was OK but not particularly cordial.The décor is a bit too dark.There is plenty of free parking in the strip mall lot.

Lucky to have this sushi spot near my house. Amazing fish quality and they always have exquisite products in stock (uni, Japan Wagyu, etc). Definitely try the Passion roll with scallops. If youre looking for a good quality sushi spot at a decent price, think no more, Satsuma is the place.

My son was hungry even after dinner for just a snack but I knew he wanted a full other dinner! I was staying at the Hotel Avante, and realized that It was across the street. Quite excited that I discovered a new sushi place in the Bay Area! I used to go very often to Sushi Tomi in Mountain View, but there the quality/price/service got quite bad. Satsuma instead, has a very fresh sea food, the salmon is melting in your mouth, and in general the environment is super friendly and relaxing! They definitely deserve a good review!!!

Coworkers got the sushi boat. They said it was delicious. They enjoyed the different fish that were on it. I got the dragon, but I personally like getting one with tempura inside it next time instead of imitation crab (it was basically a California roll with eel on top).

Had the chefs sashimi special. Presentation was good. Sashimi quality was ok - big pieces, but the quality wasnt better than many places I visit. Service was good. Only big issue I had was that it was too hectic. I was seated at a booth near the sushi bar, and they were using the bar to prep orders to go. It was like eating next to a factory. But I understand that it is challenging to meet necessities in this time where their main business is delivery. I just dont want to be next to that hustle - just want to sit, relax and enjoy my food. The food was ok, but the energy was too hectic. Maybe, block off the area where your prepping orders with a nice divider, I dont know. But I dont want to sit 5 feet from a 70 year old mans butt while hes walking around the bar - obviously facing the bar, organizing/prepping orders.

Ive come to this place for dinner for over a year. (Takeout since the pandemic). I love their dinner bento, always good portions, fresh looking food, and homemade taste. I drive from Santa Clara to this place in Mountain View regularly. Weve tried their sushi as well and we have not been disappointed.Also, kudos for their prompt and excellent service, and their thoroughness with the covid-19 safety measures.I will keep coming here for as long as I live in the Bay Area.

Probably the best chirashi dinner I have ever had! The chef’s choice of sashimi was very diverse compared to the typical selection, usually only tuna, yellowtail and salmon. Even the “standard” salmon offering was new for me: sake toro (salmon belly). Service was top notch! The waiter was constantly checking in with me and took the time to name each of the sashimi that was served. He even engaged in some pleasant chit-chat at the end of the meal. A great and unexpected dining experience!

The way of cooking is more traditional with more chewy rice and less the trendy soft (overcooked?) kind of rice, which is more authentic Japanese and I like better.One thing not so great about Satsuma is their setting & seating which is quite dated. The quality of fish here is really great, and the different specialty rolls are the most unique Ive seen so far. We got the Musashi, Victoria Secret, El Fuego, and the Lion King. Each were great in their own ways and definitely delicious. Its a nice and casual sushi restaurant for a chill evening, and I would definitely come back!

3.5 stars.I really want to give this place more stars because the food quality is superb and the fish is really fresh. The sushi rolls arent full of rice and there arent a lot of extra sauce on the rolls.However, service has sucked every time that Ive been here. The worse part is, the servers walk around with their heads down or their eyes blind because they do NOT see you flagging for them. Its bad enough that they dont come take our order, refill our drinks, or give us the bill, but when we try to call for their attention, we still cannot get anyone to come.Id recommend avoid coming here when its peak time.

I placed a $36 to go order, which was ready on time. However, the experience was less than average. frankly, the order look like it was put together very very quickly with less attention to detail than I am accustomed to. The roll basically fell apart every time I try to eat a piece. The other thing is that I was not provided a place to put the soy sauce and mix it with wasabi. I was staying in a hotel, and dont have any facilities of my own. I do not recommend that people place to go orders at this restaurant. My guess is that if you had a sit-down experience it would be much better.

Great prices for bento boxes. Lunch only available Monday through Friday, dinner includes California Rolls. Portions can sometimes be somewhat inconsistent, but the flavor is consistent. I dont usually eat raw fish and they have good options for the non-fish eaters in a Japanese restaurant. Waiters are great and are attentive.

The food and service are very good. Not a long wait time for the food. They were very busy the day we were there and it was really noisy. There was a table set up right next to ours and one person was super loud. Otherwise the food was great! And our server was very nice. I guess the fact that several people in our family were bothered by the din, especially one of us, who had a headache for a bit, is the reason I gave only four Stars.

Excellent authentic Japanese sushi and other cuisine. Conveniently placed next to a Baskin Robins if youd like dessert after. Food is on par with other higher tier sushi restaurants and staff are professional. Expect to pay Mountain View prices but the food is worth it. Seating is comfy and atmospheric.

This score is an average, as we find their sushi amazing, worthy of more than 5 stars, specially given the price.Service is completely random, waiters are usually kind enough but you dont get any consistent experience from time to time. They could serve everything together one day, take 15 mins between dishes or bring the main entree before the appetizer, they just dont care ;). Go here for the sushi!!!

There were five of us and we ordered sushi and udon dishes. The food was good, but the server we had needs lessons in basic table/serving manners. I know these are harsh words, but I felt very uncomfortable the whole night and even now waking up with this. I should have walked out!Instead of using a tray, she carried the soup bowls with her hands, and the thumbs touched the broth. Between her trips to pick up another plate, I saw the server touched the back of her coworkers pants. Her sleeve touched another members sushi. One sushi dish had a hair, a server used a napkin to remove the hair, when I felt uncomfortable with their manners and asked to have the dish replaced, the server brought the plate back out after bringing it to the back. The smear from the efforts to remove the hair is still visible on the side! I asked for a soy plate, our server brought three plates with her thumb pressed on the center of the top plate, then she used her one hand with fingers all over the plates to move them around the table. Another member was uncomfortable how the server leaned over her. Too many other issues with the server!I asked to speak with the manager, she blocked it and took the one dish with the hair off the tab. I told her I am not interested in the discount, I rather provide feedback. The server was defensive and lied that she switched out the dish! I didnt get to speak to anyone, this is horrible!I took the time to write this review and hope that it can be useful to the owner.I am really surprised that this serving manners hasnt gotten the attention of public health! I dont even serve food to my family this way!

Hidden gem sushi spot next to PAMF Mountain View. Limited indoor dining available. Efficient polite service with a sizable selection of sushi and entrees. For my first experience, I was pleased with my Dancing Ebi specialty roll. The presentation was beautiful. Inside my selection was stuffed with shrimp tempura and avocado, layered on top was unagi (my favorite) and more avocado with a drizzle of spicy mayo and unagi sauce, plus a sprinkle of tobiko! After 8 pieces I was happily full and glad I didnt try an appetizer. Next time, my son, the teenage connoisseur will have to accompany me to give me an excuse to order more items. They even gave me my green tea in a takeout cup! We will be back.

And if theyre not busy, the chefs will sometimes make custom rolls if you ask nicely.The down sides are: a) Most rolls use fake crab, except for the ones billed as crab rolls. b) No sushi boats or conveyor belt, so you cant just grab whatever looks good; you have to order from the menu.

While at times we have had slow service here (mostly a few years ago), it is because it is a *very* popular Japanese restaurant in this area. In the past year or so weve visited it a dozen times and have had reasonably good service. This is my sons favorite Japanese restaurant because he likes their California Rolls and Salmon Teriyaki. Having had a great experience in 2014, I was excited to come back to this establishment for dinner, but in the end, I disappointed, to say the least. While the sashimi was fine (it is pretty hard to mess up raw uncooked fish). The vegetable tempura was undercooked, chewy, tasteless, and lacking the desired texture. The unagi nigiri was alright, but nothing to write home about. However, the main disaster was the roll we ordered. I cant recall the name; it was spicy tuna on the inside and fried squid on the outside, a great idea with poorly designed execution. The breaded outside refused to stick to the roll, the spicy tuna had way too much mayo (it really shouldnt have any mayo at all), and the roll was not cut all the way through to the bottom. What a mess! I will say that our server was very nice :)
