An all-vegan restaurant with a wide variety of options based on your appetite. We enjoyed their iced teas and lemonade. Personally, I enjoyed their avocado taco and soup.In addition, they offer indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere of this shopping center is truly special.

One of my most favorite vegan places!!! The food is just on another level and you can expect to have a great time between food, drink selection, service, and ambiance! This time we had the nachos and the beats me burger. The kambucha on tap was delicious! If it’s your first time— get the rolled tacos too :) They also have some really nice tables outside.

Located at the end of the Lab anti-mall, last stop on your stroll through the space.Ordered the Beer battered avocado tacos, and another in my party ordered breakfast burrito. Both very delicious. I also ordered the Birdhound cocktail, delicious and sweet.Our server Dawn, was friendly, offered great suggestions.

This place is great for vegetarian and vegan dishes. I enjoy coming here for dinner and trying out all the creative and delicious meals. Good place for a date too as the ambience is hard to beat. They have a great outdoor area. Staff here is A+, they really go above and beyond to treat you well.

Ate here with a couple of our vegan friends and I must say, the food is pretty good and fulfilling! I loved the mac and cheese and the fries. The bf enjoyed the salad. And the desserts were delicious and generously portioned. Would go back again, although id like to note it can be troublesome to find parking depending which time and day you visit this plaza.

A small restaurant in Costa Mesa with a very cozy setting. They have ample vegan choices. We loved their Purple Taquitos and also the Beets burger. The warm cauliflower salad bowl was not up to the mark. Tried their blueberry lemonade and it was amazing.The staff is super friendly and helpful with suggestions. We sat outside because we had a huge group, and it was comfortable with the patio heaters.Will definitely go again.

Parking is a bit hectic here, the plaza is cute. Service is great, everyone we encountered was warm and friendly. Jasmine green tea was refreshing, the blueberry mint lemonade was way too sweet even when diluted with tea and water. The purple taquitos and beer battered avocado taco were yum; creamy tomato soup was strong in the butternut squash and coconut milk flavors; mushroom taco was salty; corn tortillas were flavorful and aromatic with a perfectly chewy consistency. Would come back to try the grilled cheese, desserts, and some of their daily specials.

I am a vegetarian from India, after looking for 2 years to find a decent vegetarian/vegan restaurant I found this place. It is awesome. The food was very tasty and the drink was good too. I had the Beets Me Burger (5/5) and birdhound (5/5). Definitely worth visiting. I am going back again soon.

The place to go to try new things! Great service, atmosphere & food. My favorite was the fried avocado taco (blue corn tortilla), butternut squash enchiladas, and apple beat salad with tofu added on top!!For the weekend, the Breakfast Tacos on the brunch menu (between 11a-2p) are my go-to. I am addicted, in a good way. Also love the waffle with almond butter and banana. Legendary!

Absolutely loved this little place-- got the jackfruit nachos, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and chocolate chip cookie. Everything was amazing, portions were large and nothing tasted synthetic. Took a non vegan friend too and she adored it. The cookie was fantastic too, GF as well!

Ive loved this place since it was a food truck! The menu changes often to keep things interesting and seasonal.Whenever I take someone here whos a first-timer I insist on ordering them all three tacos.Other favorites have been the bibimbap bowl, the grilled cheese, the chaffle and the Beets Me burger.

Very nice outdoor patio space with a decent amount of shade. Scattered tables throughout the landscape gave a nice vibe.The brunch tacos were absolutely fantastic. Probably the best breakfast tacos I’ve had despite me typically enjoying non-vegan breakfast foods.The mint blueberry lemonade mimosa was also fantastic.Also nice location in the anti-mall so there’s plenty to explore in walking distance. Went on a Sunday night and it wasnt as busy as expected. We sat on the patio and theyre dog friendly so we brought our puppy.I ordered the rosé and it was very easy to drink, love that all their wines are from France or Italy.As for food we ordered the Cauliflower, Mushroom tacos, Butternut squash enchiladas, and the nachos. The Cauliflower was fried very well and seasoned perfectly; we asked for the enchiladas extra spicy and they added jalapeno, it was tasty. The mushroom tacos were oversalted sadly, but adding enough hot sauce helped. The nachos were large and the Al pastor jackfruit on them was a hit. Lastly we tried the peach cobbler and ice cream, with the drizzle on the side it was delicious and a perfect way to end the meal.Overall I would recommend coming here and trying a few things out, especially since its all plant based. The service was also attentive and courteous.

I Went here for brunch first time. But have been there a couple of more times now. One of the best vegan restaurants. Have become a go to place. There ceviche and biscuit are awesome and personnel favorite. Blueberry mint lemonade is one of my fav drink. The staff is super friendly and explains everything in detail. A must try!

A group of us visited here on a lunch outing, 3 out of the 4 were vegan but everyone loved every single dish they ordered. Two things stood out: the mac and cheese is INCREDIBLE and whatever sauce they put on the enchiladas makes the whole dish. We also ordered the nachos, three tacos (the fried avocado was the best), brussels sprouts, ceviche, and the So Cal taco salad. Everything was gobbled up and the whole crew was talking about it for the rest of the trip.The atmosphere is casual and cozy, highly recommend sitting outside if you can find a shady spot. The wait staff were excellent and friendly. Definitely recommend stopping in here if youre vegan or just veg-curious!

We have been dining here for 6 years and the food is always amazing. The only weakness is the host stand, and staff attentiveness. No matter how many tables are open, there always seems to be a “mandatory” wait. This practice, along with sometimes inattentive or forgetful staff brings down the experience in contrast to to great menu and food. We’d also increasingly love to know if we are eating GMO, or organic. We’d prefer the later and would pay more, dine here more frequently if there was attribution. When the host stand gets more on the ball and seats patrons immediately, we’ll revisit this review - and the establishment won’t lose business by making people wait 20 minutes for visibly empty tables, which is just seems to be an odd strategy in the hospitality sector. Marvelous place otherwise!

Food is super fresh. I am not vegan or vegetarian but every once in a while it is good not to have meat for every meal. Seabirds kitchen food taste great. Highly recommend the bibimbap, burger, grilled cheese, warm cauliflower brussel sprouts. Everything I have tried has been great. Parking is a little bit tight but worth the wait. Pretty cute! The inside is small, but there’s also an outside area. It’s part of the LAB Anti-mall and all of their food is vegan! (Not nut-free or gluten-free) Their selection was varied, ranging from Mexican to Korean dishes, and they had cute vegan drinks. I liked their Yuzu soda and the blueberry mint lemonade (free refills!). Their burger is named one of the top 20 vegan burgers in the US, which I tried. It was good, but too sweet by the time I was taking my last bites. They have salads, appetizers and entrees. Their desserts seem very sweet, and their signature is the Chaffle, which is a churro waffle which feeds 2-4. The service is good, and they’re very attentive. The AC was dripping on us, so they moved us.

I’ve been here four times and the food never disappoints. On my last two visits I had the stuff shells and the Veggie Burger. I wont go into any in-depth review of the food other than I’ve always enjoyed what I ordered. (I’m not vegetarian)Servers need to be more attentive. That is the reason for the 3 stars. It is consistently slow. On our last visit, there were only 3 tables occupied and it took a long time before we got seated. Then after being seated, it took a ling time again to get a menu and had to call out for a server to take our order.I highly recommend the stuffed shells and the french fries.

Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. Tables seemed to be open but were told it was a 25 minute wait. It wasnt a problem because it gave us a chance to check out the cute little shops and time went by quick. We got a text when our table was ready and were seated quickly when we checked in. We sat outside under some umbrellas. We ordered the eggs florentine, the Mac and cheese, the enchiladas, and the beer battered tacos.We arent vegetarian and all the dishes and veggie but they were all good in their own way. The mimosa pour was pretty small we initial thought it was just the OJ and were waiting for the champagne but later realized it was already included. The rude and unprofessional treatment justifies a zero rating. My group and I were mistreated by the woman in glasses working at the front desk, stating it would take 15 minutes but made us wait for an hour… and then provide a tiny table for two when we had clearly requested a table for three people. For the most part I really liked the food here. They have good food and you dont have to break the bank to get filled up. Although it can be hit or miss.The reason they dont get the five stars though is because the service SUCKS.This doesnt mean that the servers are mean or rude but it has to do with the fact that they take FOREVER!I remember when I came here with my wife we were literally the only people in the whole restaurant and I had to chase down our server to get our food.We will see how they are going to do this time but if you want service here you have to be aggressive!!Same problem. They took forever and we had to wave down the waitress to grab the cobbler that had been sitting there for a few minutes. The waitress was more concerned with fixing the christmas paper than getting us our food.

Just traveling through the area and found this nice, vegan place. Service was fantastic and recommend the chili. Im vegetarian, not vegan but found the options great, although the menu tips a little too heavy in spicy options. Hearty and filling, so dont let the vegan scare you off.It is a weird place to find, as it is in this thing called LAB, which I arrived too late in the evening to get the full experience of. I would definitely go back.

My meal was creative and delicious. The dessert, Whiskey Peach Crumble, was outstanding.We were seated outside because of COVID-19, of course. It’s a lovely area but has dangerous steps that are hard to see, especially wearing a mask. In fact, my lunch partner fell flat on her side. This is by far my most favorite vegan restaurant. I think I almost tried everything here! The most must have is the beet burger, I added the vegan cheese in the photo, but let me say, it is not needed, I think without it is perfect. I also take food to go :) and also a must try is the PURPLE POTATO TAQUITOS, I would love to have that dish every day. This restaurant is perfect for people who are simply just curious of vegan food and may be surprised that its just as delicious as might not suspect. I am always on the lookout for vegan restaurants. This place is 100% plant based. Went here on a Saturday night, parking is a bit difficult to find but were lucky. Started with El sully draft beer and cauliflower ceviche and also ordered Burnt brussel sprouts and Kimchi Tacos.Cauliflower ceviche - never had anything like this before, very similar in texture to actual shrimp ceviche, but taste like shrimp ceviche.Burnt brussel sprouts- these are really good and very good servingKimchi Tacos - I loved the tacos so goodDefinitely coming back here again and recommended to all vegans and non vegans too like me.

Seabirds is a nice restaurant in the LAB Anti-mall space in Costa Mesa. They offer great vegan options with very tasty sauces and cream. Be prepared to wait but there things to do in the area while you’re waiting.The service people are very friendly and explain the ingredients that make each sauce or meal. I enjoyed their starter place of the taquitos along with the entree of enchiladas.They have a small bar for you to order mixed drinks if desired. Excellent place to grab a bite with friends or family. There’s a nice outside area for larger groups.

This place is so delicious! And their staff is super friendly too. My 5yr. old daughter loved the grilled cheese and the churro waffle with icecream for dessert. I had the 3 tacos they offer and the one in my opinion that was by far the best was fish taco. My daughter liked it too except she said it was too spicy for her. The purple potato rolled tacos we super good too! We also tried the jackfruit nachos, brussel sprouts and the macaroni and cheese. Those were delicious too! Excellent food and service. We visited Seabirds to celebrate our daughter’s 19th birthday. She recently turned Vegan and couldn’t think of a better place to eat and just have a good time. We did have to wait about 20 minutes to get a table inside... but once we were seated and started ordering the food, we felt right at home. Not everyone in our family is Vegan (my wife and I are Vegetarians, and our son is all over the place), so we were not sure what to expect. However, the menu is full of interesting dishes, and we did end up trying various appetizers and samplers. One particular dish that was simply delicious, albeit heavy, was Fried Grits for the Table. We also enjoyed the Flax Jax pancakes. I made a note to check out the Biscuit Bomb on our next trip. The Burnt Brussels Sprouts were too good... for the main course, I ordered the Beets Me Burger and it was quite different from most burgers, but really good. My daughter had the best of times and the Tiramisu was the proverbial icing on the cake... Happy 19th Kid :-)

The service is generally good but be warned if you get seated outdoors and further into the corner away from the restaurant you might get forgotten or put away the end of your servers list for servicing only because theres a bunch of tables on the way to get to you and people will usually ask them for things while they are on their way to you lol its happened to us a couple times.

The anti-mall (the LAB) is an electric group of shops and delicious food but Seabirds Kitchen is absolutely top notch! If youre hunting for flavorful, healthy, freshly made food, this is your place! I tried the seasonal butternut squash enchiladas and OMG they were phenomenal! I enjoyed my lunch so much, I returned the next day to try the best bruger, and again, amazing! If youre into vegan junk food, then this is probably your place, but it wasnt ours. I should have done more research beyond the high rating as we like to look for healthy, fresh restaurants that leave you feeling good afterwards. The BBQ burger was good, but felt more along the lines of fake meat which we avoid and the mac & cheese was just mediocre. This is a wonderful little place inside “The Lab” shopping mall (“anti-mall”). They have consistently friendly service from knowledgeable wait staff who can help accommodate special dietary requests. Stumbling across Seabirds Kitchen while down in So Cal recently was one of the highlights of my trip. My daughter and I were so lucky to find this place. She had a divine grilled cheese sandwich with pesto and I ordered tacos. We both were in heaven. The mushroom taco was one of the best things I have ever had. Its spicy in all the right ways. So this was definitely worth a try! I got the Nachos and my partner got the grilled “cheese” and tomato soup. The best thing was definitely the soup, hard to go wrong with tomato soup! The grilled cheese was decent but the green stuff inside of it (perhaps a pesto?) made eating the grilled cheese and the tomato soup together taste more like pizza. The grilled cheese was crispy and well cooked but the green sauce in it was unnecessary to me. As for the nachos- well I brought my own chips since I have issues digesting corn but I bit into one of the chips just to see if they were something special and unfortunately they seemed to be stale- to be fair I did say I was going to be using my own chips and maybe they gave me the last bit of the batch knowing that I wouldn’t eat them. (It was nice of them to separate the ingredients for me) The jackfruit and salsa and cheese was meh, it had a kick but overall was pretty flavorless. For the price it’s definitely not worth it. The blueberry lemonade was very syrupy, I was told they use agave syrup which would account for the syrupy taste. Overall I was unimpressed. It’s not the worst vegan place I’ve been by far, but still not worth the price.

Once seated it can take up to fifteen minutes before someone even offers you water. Great food! The Purple Taquitos were fantastic, the Old Town Grilled Cheese was delicious and the Natural Cut Fries added to the experience. What a great atmosphere and staff! Its in an eclectic place called the Lab. Seabirds was a referral from a friend who had gone two weeks ago and loved it and I definitely plan on going back to try the other dishes. Being from South Florida, this is my new best restaurant!!

This was my second time to Seabirds Kitchen.The first time I came with my sister to try this vegan restaurant.Seabirds used to be a vegan food truck.Eventually they opened a physical restaurant at The Lab.I was so impressed with the food the first time.I had to take Dr. P back to try this place.We sat at the outdoor area for an early dinner.Because we had our puppies with us.Our waitress brought two cups of water for the pups.Dr. P got a beer, and I ordered a lemonade.There’s strawberry in the lemonade, and unlimited refill, too.This was the vegan grilled cheese I have been drooling just thinking about it.How did they make vegan grilled cheese taste this good?It’s even better than the real grilled cheese.The basil avocado sauce made the dish!If you can only order one item, I would highly recommend getting the grilled cheese.The fries was so good with the seasoning salt.Their homemade ketchup and sauce was perfect with the fries.They have 3 different types of tacos, and we tried all of them.My favorite was the grilled mushroom taco.Dr. P’s favorite was the kimchi taco.Their taco is full of flavor. Very filling also.We were so full at this point.So only had a few bites of the Holy Smokes Bowl and took the rest home.Love this vegan bowl filled with healthy and nutritious veggie goodies.The sauces are so good.Even though we were full, the waitress highly recommended their fresh berries pop tart.We couldn’t resist and order one to try.It tasted like a fresh berries pie with lots of yummy tart berries inside the pie dough.We enjoyed our vegan dinner at Seabirds Kitchen.Dr. P doesn’t really like any vegan restaurant.This is the first vegan restaurant he loves and said he wants to come back again.We should be back again soon.

We stayed at an Air B&B like 50 feet away. Got in kinda late and were online searching for food on happy cow. I mean 50 feet away is hard to beat after a 8 hr drive. We ordered the locals bowl and two tacos pretty much inhaled the food it was so dam good you know think they put that love thing into making it. It just hit the spot super fresh and tasty food. We are looking for another reason book a vacation in the area to eat here again.

Great vegan food, horrible parking. Love their simple menu of always fresh ingredients. My fave is the grilled cheese with added nacho mushrooms. During the Covid shutdowns, their heat at home stuff has been great!

First off, I am not a vegan. Seabirds is a 100% vegan restaurant. I was hesitant to go in for this very reason. With that being said, I had the pasta dish and it was delicious. The brussel sprout appetizer is also highly recommended. I also tried the beet burger and was surprised it was good but a little sweet. My only reason for 4 stars is a lack of options on sides. Hoping they can expand on those.

Seabirds is located at The Lab Anti-Mall - nice place, parking can be difficult, but worth it. They do have Valet Parking. They serve seasonal vegan meals and offer cocktails and weekend brunch. You can also order to go or delivery through doordash or chownow. It is great to have another Vegan Option!Ive been here a few times. Ive had the Beets Me Burger (with Almond Butter, the combo is amazing), Fries (excellent), Purple Taquitos (they were even good as leftovers). My friend had the Tomato soup and Grilled Mushroom Tacos and loved it. She also kept eating my fries. She ordered the Peach Crumble to go. On my previous visit, I tired the Banana Bread and it was excellent.

Being newly vegetarian once again, I have been excited to try new places everywhere around OC. Due to COVID19, we have to order to go (sometimes outdoor dining is doable).I wanted to like this place as I have been in to some other local vegan spots nearby & the area is nice.What lured me in was the Yelp photos & food visuals & I came in with hopes of checking some of the items out. Needless to say, everything I wanted was no longer served. Ok no problem, I chose 3 items on the menu. Purple Tacos, Holy Smokes Bowl & Fries.. Everything was ok until I got home & attempted to eat the Holy Smokes Bowl ($16 BTW). Something inside was inedible. See pictures for reference. I couldnt tell if it was the jackfruit bits or onion burnt crisp to the point that it threw everything off.Due to just that experience alone, I think Ill steer far & try other local vegan spots.

I am familiar with the “anti-mall” vibe since The Lab is very close to my home. Seabirds Kitchen fits right in with its décor and youthful, friendly staff. I am not sure what to say about vegan dining as I haven’t much experience with other restaurants of this type. For me “vegan” is another category of dining along with Thai, Persian, Italian, Chinese, etc., and the food seems to be fresh/natural/healthy so that’s fine with me.

I like Seabirds a lot, but I do feel a lot of it is overhyped. Just to set expectations, I am not vegan but I do enjoy vegan meals. That being said for the struggle of getting into this parking lot and the price, Id prefer to eat somewhere else. Seabirds definitely has great dishes (bowls, nachos, Avocado Taco, etc) but if you have limited time in OC, I feel like there are other places to try.Some of their sauces have gotten a bit on the saltier side as well.

Wow! Fabulous and fresh food. The purple taquitos are delicious so get at least two orders. Even kids will love the burnt Brussel sprouts. We had the enchiladas and could have ordered more except we wanted to leave room for pie. Fresh apple and berry. This is the best of all worlds: Great food, great service, uncompromising flavor, and who he heck cares that its vegan?!

I wanted to like this place. The menu sounded great. The pictures looked amazing. The taste just wasnt what I hoped it would be.I ordered the prickly pear lemonade, butternut squash enchiladas, burnt Brussel sprouts, and natural cut fries.Prickly pear lemonade: tasted okay when my straw was at the top of the glass. As I got to the bottom, it was very fermented.Enchiladas: Spicy (good). The flavors seemed foreign to my tastebuds and not in a good way.Brussel sprouts: Flavor not so good.French fries: I love potato in all of its forms. I think the fries would have been better without the seasoning. Their Seabird sauce was delish.Ice cream: dairy-free coconut ice cream is always a plus. They topped it with chocolate sauce and it was excellent!Our server was friendly, but the service was slow. Overall, I dont think I would return, which Im actually sad to say.

One of my fav restaurants of all time! We come here often for brunch, and every once in a while for lunch or dinner. Great local, food and some of the best vegan food Ive ever had!!! And Ive been vegan for 11 years.I dont even know if I could list a favorite food, bc theyre all so great. Plus, the change some menu items seasonally so theres always something new to try!Favorites include the butternut enchiladas, anything with jackfruits (nachos, tacos), the locals bowl, old town grilled cheese, and the pierogies. For dessert, MUST try the peach crumble. Will change your life.The staff are really friendly and helpful about questions, but when theyre crowded, service can be slow. Im just patient and enjoy the atmosphere.Definite recommend!

Some dishes are hit and miss. Almost every dish is spicy or fried. Even after we asked to avoid them, some dishes are medium spicy. Deliciousness should not be masked by spicy flavor. The vegan dessert was fantastic however.

Not a vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination, just try to eat healthy, but this place was very good. I had the kimchee taco and bimbimpop. The bimbimpop in particular popped with flavor. My daughter, the true vegetarian and the reason I came here, loved the beet hamburger and her fries. I tried the fries, they were flavorful and crisp. You dont have to be a vegan or vegetarian to like the food. If you are looking for a flavorful and exciting meal, that just happens to be vegetarian, this has to be it. The location and environment is great too.

Seabirds is one of my favorite places to eat around Costa Mesa. I am not vegan but the food is undeniably delicious. The beet burger is fantastic, as well as the bowls. It is worth a try even if you dont normally eat vegan. Good food is good food, dont be bouji.

My friend and I enjoyed their pre-fix lunch. First course was an excellent salad with bread. Second course was the best beef bourguignon that I ever tasted...even better than the food I ate in Paris. Third course was a pumpkin cream cheese cylinder. All were good, as was the wine. Coffee was good but not outstanding.

Didn’t get to experience this place as they told us they had stopped seating tables when we turned up at 7:25 pm. Strange because their website states 8:30 pm is their closing time. Lots of tables empty outside. You can’t make reservations online and we’d driven a good 20 minutes to get there.Shame you turned away our business - we were hungry!Would highly recommend Folks across the road for great pizza and service!

Nice place, the food can take a bit but it isnt too much of a problem. Their waffles are pretty great, as well as the nachos. Would reccomend for vegans/vegetarians.
