I’ve heard good reviews from friends about this place. I was near the area one day and I seen that served empanadas. I haven’t found a good spot yet in Fresno that sells good empanadas. So I have this place a try. 3 for $16 is a great deal for the size they are. I ordered the chicken on all 3. They were so delicious. The texture from the outside was crispy before you get to the deliciousness. Well seasoned and hearty. It also comes with a spicy sauce that compliments it with a nice kick. Pairs really well with it. I highly recommend these empanadas from Señor Ají. It was so delicious that I ordered another 3. Can’t wait to go back. It my new favorite spot for empanadas.

This is a little treasure in Fresno. I fell in love with La Comida Peruana in California and this restaurant just further deepened the love. The cerviche is gorgeous, and I appreciate that they can modify the spice level for you. The quinoa salad is healthy and tasty (excellent option for vegetarian folks), everything else is also yummy and to top it off, staff is gracious and warm. Well definitely be back again

Amazing true Peruvian food. Delicious and so good! The ceviche and fried fish with shrimp and rice were both 10/10! It’s a must try if you’re in Fresno or even in a near by city.

Peruvian food is my favorite South American cuisine. This place hands down is the best Peruvian in Fresno. I have been trying different dishes every time I stop here and so far they haven’t disappointed. Small place but on point. Had Lomo de Pescado, and empanadas appetizer, noodles with chicken, and margaritas. Try to go there on their happy hour 5-7 pm weekdays.

Wow! this is a must! Am back in Fresno, Ca. I found this restaurant in north side of town. It’s first class, the unique creamy sauces, mellow flavors, the freshness, and presentation, all in one plate. I love it! It is Delicious! You will not be disappointed, I will definitely be back to try another dish. Small, but such a relaxing atmosphere. Outstanding service, friendly staff, it’s a winner! Goes well with a cold beer 🤠

Best Peruvian food Ive had. Everything was amazing. Have a Pisco Sour or 2, you wont be disappointed; youll probably be sad you hadnt had one sooner. The only disappointment for me is that I couldnt try everything in one sitting and Im not local, s I dont know when Ill have a chance to come by again.

I loved this little taste of Peruvian cuisine. Most dishes have flavorful creamy sauces and the fried food tastes so fresh. No burnt oil flavors here, just crispy light taste. Service could be more cheerful, but they are busy cooking up great food! Dont forget to ask for more napkins and serving spoons to share all the entrees. They have you extra plates without asking. Their food is very shareable. Awesome Sangria too!

Delicious food and wonderful staff !Update 9/2022: visited a few times over the past 3 years. The food appears to get better with every visit. Today I ordered the lomo saltado and it was delicious. It is on the saltier side but knowing that will give you a heads up to order some water on the side. Definitely a repeat dish.

Never judge a book by its cover. This place is definitely a gem, especially considering where its located. The food is amazing and flavorful, and the sangrias go down very easily. Señor Aji offers a great variety that surely will make your taste buds happy, and there are plenty of options even for the picky eaters.

I had taken my husband to this restaurant to celebrate his birthday and I was very excited to try this place since some friends recommended it to me.I was very disappointed when I got there because the restaurant barely has space. It does not feel like a restaurant. It’s a weird layout. To start off we ordered some drinks, a guanábana and a chicha mora. they both were good but too sweet for my taste. We also ordered some empanadas (3) chicken, beef and cheese) Yuca balls and yuca fries. Both dishes came with very good food sauce which were amazingly good. The first two empanadas were delicious, so was the yuca fries but the cheese empanadas and the Yuca balls were not. The quality of the cheese is not good. I had Lomo saltado. It came with white rice, fries, tomatoes and onions. ( it was weird because Lomo is steak in Spanish but I was told that I had to pick a choice of chicken or shrimp) I picked shrimp. Everything about this dish was very disappointing. First of all, the rice was salty and so was the rest of the food. I couldn’t finish it. My daughter ordered salchipapas. This dish was very tasty but I don’t think a dish for a restaurant is more like a truck/street dish. Overall I think this place is a bit overpriced considering that the restaurant isn’t all that and because of this, I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

This place is awesome! Each entree that we ordered had different flavors, all were delightful.The Aji de Gallina tasted just like what I remember from Peru, the octopus was stellar, and the Lomo saltado was excellent. Aside from the Yucca fries that didnt come properly cooked (still frozen in the middle) the meal was superb. In their defense, when we pointed out the fries, they brought us a new order. Yay for good customer service! BTW I probably wouldnt order the yucca fries again anyway. We will definitely go back to check out all the other things on the menu.

This restaurant is a true gem. With all of the generic dining establishment in the area, it is so nice to have a unique, ethnic, dining experience. The waitress was very knowledgeable and knew every detail about all if the food. She gave us a comprehensive view of what Peruvian food should be. Based off of what we learned through all of our questions, we made some incredible choices. I regret not getting more pictures of the selections we made. Everything we ordered was to die for. It all was rich with flavor and hearty and filling. This restaurant is a stand alone dining treasure that should be on everyones list of new places to eat

Wow. Empenadas were so good but we all agreed the cheese were the best. Peruvian corn and parmesan cheese also very tasty. The beef and linguine with cheese sauce was so savory. The bean cake was a surprising superstar on the side. Trio cevice also very delicious. Custom cocktail also delectable. Will be back for sure!

Very good first impression of this interesting Peruvian place! Its has an upscale feel to it and there are a variety of Peruvian dishes on offer. I had to go with the ceviche. I got the trio sampler with the three different flavors they have. Flavor was good, seafood seemed fresh and the dried and fresh Peruvian corn were unique. I value simple quality ingredients that are allowed to shine and this dish delivered.But the star of the night was the humble bread pudding. I recommend getting it with the icecream, they pair so well. Creamy, caramel and whiskey flavors abound, not too sweet but definitely satisfying.And the Peruvian beer was pretty darn tasty too!

I have to say this is a first for Peruvian food, and I am not disappointed at all. The dishes and the way the ingredients and flavor blends are phenomenal. Im excited to come back and try another dish. They have a good special called Taste of Peru which includes a starter, an entree, and a drink. And the Aji sauce tops it all off. No matter what nationality you are the dishes here will make you feel like its home. Enjoy!

(deep fried) chicken empanadas are one of the best dishes in town and the happy hour is great. The anticuchos were alright but the aftertaste was kinda like hot sauce(vinegar and red chili pepper forward) and sorta killed it for me. Im pretty picky about my ceviche and I liked 2 of them well enough. My partner liked the one I didnt care for as much, and they would order ceviche as an entree again.

The food was amazing here. Place a reservation ahead of time if you can because it gets busy. My boyfriend and I had a reservation so there was no wait and our food was out before we were even close to finishing our appetizer. We will definitely be making this a regular spot from now on!

Is Taco Bell authentic Mexican food? Is Panda a true Chinese Foof? El Senor Aji IS NOT an authentic Peruvian food!! It is not recommendable if you want to say: I know what Peruvian food is. No, No, No! Like any other ordinary gourmet restaurant, this restaurant tries to copy different international flavors or ingredients to become unique. However, those experiments are unknown and not acceptable for the Peruvian kitchen. Please be sure that I am trying to be nice with my review.Lomo saltado with sugar? Really? First, IT IS NOT A PERUVIAN STYLE. Second, sugar is the worst commercial element to addict consumers and is used in other countries except for Peru. Third, it is unhealthy. Fourth, If you are looking for recognition for your style, stop to change the traditional Peruvian food. The second time I asked if they had a new chef due to the new flavors. I returned to pick up my wife without the energy to tolerate a disrespected relationship. NO! I am not returning to this place.In the beginning, they suggested the last table near the restroom even when the table next to the window was open. It is an old trick. They should offer the best table. Why the last in a small and isolated corner?I have tasted the food before, and it was something better. The waiter is just an employee trying to do her best. Therefore, I paid tips.I have been a resident of Fresno for the last 30 years. I am a genuine citizen of Lima exposed to the best Peruvian kitchen. In addition, due to my profession, I have worked and visited all regions and towns of Peru. I love food and know how one dish may change its flavor when cooked in other areas.I am not saying that it is a bad restaurant. I am saying that it is not an authentic Peruvian restaurant. Regarding attitude, it is a personal problem that can be corrected with suitable training to improve client relationships. The following ideas may help hospitality management, the magic polite phrase: I am sorry, or we will talk about it with the owner/Chef; I will consider your questions. I will ask how we can release the ingredients of our food to keep our clients healthy. We care for you is the objective.

My family and l went to this restaurant to celebrate Fathers day. It was the best decision we made. The food was AMAZING!!!! So much flavor and the portions are plenty. Been looking for a new Peruvian restaurant to take the mantle from limon (feel there quality is not what it use to be) and we found it. They are definitely worth seeking out!!Started with the classic ceviche and it was everything you wanted: fresh, spicy and acidic. The fresh and fried corn were a great textural element. Hard to pass up when we return again.For entree had the tacu tacu mar and Tierra. The surprise on the dish was the banana it was my favorite thing (not formally a banana person) and tied everything together. The saltado was well flavored and the meat was very tender. Only thing I missed was the fries (luckily my wife ordered to lomo saltado.For sure will come back and explore more of the menu.

Loved this place!!! The food is delicious. I had the empanada Appetizer with this delicious sauce. My main dish was the pork chops which was good but I tried hubbys main dish which was way better. I forgot what he ordered but it was a type of salad with shrimp..The service is top notch. The place is small and very nice. They do take reservations, which might be a good idea since it does get packed fast. We went on a Saturday night. Thankfully there was an open table.

My gin and tonic was good, the appetizers chicharron and ckn skewers were very tasty and so was the Peruvian mac n cheese, the meal ckn lomo saltado was ok i really didnt care for the vegetables in the dish but the ckn was good, tallarin saltado a stir fry noodle dish was on the salty side. I will go back and try a couple of other appetizers or dishes to get a feel for the restraunt.

After our latest attempt to dine here we ended up leaving before getting seated. Service was terrible. Drove all the way across town to get here to sit and wait for a table for 20 minutes even though there were open tables they wouldnt seat us at a table for 4 because there was only 2 of us. In walks a couple with 2 small children immediately seated, Apparently the expectation was for us to continue to wait for a small table, then wait even longer for our food since we would be behind others in the kitchen que. Apparently our business isnt needed, message received Senor Aji, we will not be back.

Items on the menu didnt particularly appeal to me, but my dining partner got a cerviche in a trio of sauces, which wasnt too bad. He also had a curried seafood dish, but not the type of curry that I would have expected. I settled on a bowl of chicken soup which was supposed to be flavored with cilantro and with rice in it. Rice was nonexistent, and I really couldnt taste the cilantro, either. Not a place that I would go back to, altho the employees were really nice. It was kind of pricey, too.

We were avid señor aji customers for years, including during the pandemic when they were hurting for business. Unfortunately that all changed when we were treated poorly and the wife of the owner would not entertain our dilema we attempted to approach her with diplomatically. She was extremely rude and spoke over us in a patronizing way. We came in on a busy night, noticed the seats were all taken so were told that a large party would be leaving shortly and we would be seated then. Thereafter a large group came in after us and told the hostess that they were only there for drinks. She informed them of the wait and they sat outside waiting for their table, while we sat at the bar. After waiting 20 minutes we noticed the large party that came in after as was brought inside and seated, before we were. I brought it to the attention of one of the waitresses and she said we would be seated shortly in the table next to them. Thereafter another couple was seated. Throughly annoyed at this point I again asked what the delay was and I was informed they were waiting for a table to open up at the very back of the restaurant. I suspect they behaved this way because we had a 6 month old baby with us. We chose not to make a scene while they were busy, so left and called back later. The women we spoke to would not permit us to even voice our concern. She was incredibly unprofessional and spoke down to us, alleging that the larger group was there before us. That was certainly not the case especially since we heard their entire conversation with the hostess while we were already at the list and waiting to be seated. Pity, the way she addressed the situation and her lack of self restraint and professionalism cost her loyal customers.

If they lowerd the prices me and my wife will eat here every day. I didnt get a drink with my order one day during lunch and it was a $16 lunch still have not received my refund that is why this place has lost two stars hopefully someone can read this and respond.I had 3 stars just lowered it to 2 stars a rude waiter added another charge for a substitute that for the past 3 visits I never had to. Where is the generosity in this business, one thing is high prices but to charge for something different times and change it on the fourth is rude.

Their dishes were authentic and creative. I ordered something I wasnt familiar with (Poke de Atún it was Ahi/Tuna on won ton nachos with avocado, sauce, cilantro) and it was amazing. I stopped and ate here based on the pictures/reviews on Google maps, I was traveling back from Yosemite. O would recommend anyone to stop there for a great/quality meal. It was worth every penny in my opinion.

A definite must try! The staff is super friendly. The restaurant has that casual laid back ambience. One of our favorites is the “Tacu Tacu Mar y Tierra” which is Peruvian beans and rice sautéed cake Topped with our Beef and Shrimp special lomo saltado, a balsamic reduction and fried bananas!!! Their drinks are excellent as well, try the Chicharrita.

Wonderful meals and authentic to northern Peru. Having lived there for a few years, we were looking for something with a taste of home. The different dishes were all prepared like we remembered, and left us and our dinner guests like we had traveled back there for the meal. Try the Aji de Gallina, Lomo Saltado, and Tallarenes Verdes (Green Noodles). All were great, and the sauces are icing on the cake. We ordered pitchers of maracuya and chicha morada, and enjoyed both. Prices were very reasonable for the plate portions. Take a bit of a risk and try something new in Fresno - you will not be disappointed!

Ive been to this restaurant a few times and the food, althought small portions, was really tasty and really close to the real and authentic peruvian food. Me and my family went back today, I dont know what happened but the dishes were tasteless, without any grace, simple and plain. If the owner of Señor Aji is reading this, please pay attention and do something about it. In the meantime, well have to take advantage of the trips to LA to eat good peruvian food.

1. “El senor aji” is a good business to make money and satisfy curious clients, but it is far away from the celebrated Peruvian kitchen.2. If you think that you are tasting Peruvian food, you must understand that this type of fusion menu of new flavors are not recognized in the traditional and world awarded Peruvian gastronomy.3. I have to recognize the great marketing job for this business, quality picture, video and social media of very high cost for a new restaurant, but it is not a good representation of the traditional Peruvian food.4. This is a good neutral restaurant with influence of spices, fruits and recipes of –all- countries including Peru, but definitive it is not the standard cousin of the Peruvian towns with their regionalist flavors.5. Example: you can use fruits and spices like black pepper from other countries in your way to cook something, but it does not mean that you are eating Greek or Chinese food.6. The fusion, storm or mix of surprised elements looks good and colorful, but it does not match with the expected flavor of any Peruvian citizen.7. The serving size or portion size is ridiculous. I don’t care about the price if the size and the flavor is genuine without any distortion or wrong called “fusion style”.8. Conclusion: Unfortunately 90% of the menu in this place is not the best or accurate representation of the humble, rich and enough developed Peruvian food that does not much with the very particular, revolutionary and weird mixture of elements and overwhelming fancy presentation in a large plate with miserable portions. It is sad and too bad. We have not good Peruvian food in Fresno CA yet, however, El Senor Aji, even when is moving in the same direction of “El Limon restaurant”, El Senor Aji is better. El Limon should remove the wrong called Peruvian food because in addition of the blurry Peruvian food, they refuses to speak Spanish or identify their wrong called Peruvian food with Peruvian events.

The first tasted like if you poured lemon on top of it and served it, the only distinctive taste on it was lemon which is not a bad thing but it was nothing special, the second one literally tasted like nothing was added for flavour and the third plate was just spicy nothing else but spicy ... Again, it wasnt bad but it really wasnt worth paying for it ... I ordered the mar y tierra plate which the description says fried race cakes but it was actually a lump of wet rice and beans with no flavour other than a Asian type of sauce around it, the beef texture was as if I was trying to eat gum... Not everything was bad on my plate the shrimps were very good and the fried plantains too but is hard to do wrong there ... The Mac and cheese plate that I order for my daughter was on point but that was the only thing that deserved any praised ... My wife wants to go back regardless, she thinks we just went on a bad day and on sunday they only open for 3 hours I think so she may be right 😂😂😂😂 but I really dont want to go waste my money, if I go back is probably cause they have a maracuyá cheesecake that looked interesting 🤣🤣🤣 ... But do not take my advise just go and see for yourself, the ambience is pretty nice order dessert and enjoy ... You cant go wrong with dessert 😋
