Oxtail broth was pretty great but the bibimbap was somehow the real star. Super flavorful and the texture was incredible with crunchy bits and crispness from the veggies

This place is legit! I got the chadol gomtang which had thinly sliced brisket in it. There was a lot of meat for me, enough for a second meal. Salt and add scallions yourself, which is how the authentic places do it and it’s important to me because I like my soup very lightly salted. It comes with generous amounts of 3 kinds of kimchi. Got a seafood pancake for the table and it was great too.

We liked the soup a lot, but dumplings were stale and the server lady with glasses misconstrued the ingredients in the dumplings. She said the dumplings had beef and kimchi and it turned out to be diced tofu sort of with very little beef incorporated, and refused to send the dumplings back to the kitchen. She also didnt list out the ingredients in the soup, and we felt very threatened by her attitude. Felt like she took advantage of us being younger girls and kind of got angry at us when we said we didnt like the dumplings. We still paid $20 for 5 dumplings we never ate and feared the food safety of. Tasted like dog food tbh. Kimchi Soup was good, though. Just kinda sucks that the server is the type of Korean lady who only seems to care about saving face in front of the white people, but if its Asian customers, she can treat them however. Hopefully they can hire another waiter in the future. Will be reporting to the FHS departments.

One of the best gom tang places Ive been to. Huge portions, and lots of meat. The blood sausages are really tasty here as well as the seafood pancake. Even the yukgaejang was really good, meat is soft and soup is flavorful, not salty or chewy like most places. Side dishes are authentic and compliment things well. They have their own parking lot.

This restaurant is amazing! The food was spectacular, and far more better than all of the other Korean restaurants I have tried before. The flavor of the bulgogi was absolutely delicious. It was tender, sweet, and juicy. The waitress was super kind, and let us stay for extra time to finish our meal. Service was quick, and the prices of the meals were worth it. I definitely recommend you going to this small business because it is super underrated and super amazing. Thank you Seoul Gom Tang for making our experience amazingly delicious! 👏👍

My family had an amazing Father’s Day meal at Seoul GomTang! We had many of their appetizers, soups, and noodle dishes. The food was amazing as usual - we were really happy with all of it. The portions were plentiful and the service was impeccable as well.If you’re not sure what to order, I would look on the walls or ask the very nice server for advice. The owners know their food very well and try their best to help you out!Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone curious about Korean food. Must try!

Ordered their gomtang, so rich & creamy but not salty. I liked to dip the meat with salt & pepper. The pork katsu was crispy & huge portion. Seafood pancake was decent. Staffs was friendly & kind, and they do check vaccination status for dining in. Overall, satisfied with our lunch.

Went here for dinner on a weekend and was greeted with a delicious array of food. As the restaurant name suggested, had to try the signature Seolleongtang (ox bone soup) and was not disappointment. Flavor was complex but very light. Soup was super hot and burned my tongue on my first few spoon fulls. Ordered some Bulgogi as well to satisfy any additional meat cravings. Overall prices were a bit on the high side but still on the realm of reasonable. Enough parking in the back on a private lot. Service was quick and friendly.

We came here on Saturday 2:40 pm for very late lunch and the place wasn’t crowded. We had a parking spot on the back right away.Bulgogi that my son ordered was delicious and it’s pretty big portion for a person.I ordered gom tang which the restaurant was famous for but I found it less flavorful than how I remembered from the last time I visited 3-4 years ago. Based on what other people are ordering next to our table, the steamed dumplings are the popular dish here.Dumplings will take some time to make and steamed to be served, a patron ordered another dish to start her meal then get dumplings.Unlike some other Korean restaurants, only 3 different kimchi are served here. the large chunks radish (daikon) kimchi are the popular side (Kkakdugi) and I ended up finishing 2 small plates.A lady who served me was so attentive and very sweet. She offered more sides and checked on us often with water & barley tea.This place is almost opposite of fancy for a restaurant and maybe I’m partially drawn to the fact that they focus on the food but less of ambience of a restaurant.I will recommend bulgogi & dumplings for folks who’s trying this place especially for the people who may not familiar with Korean food.

Wang galbi tang. Great homemade broth as pork flavor can be tasted while the meat itself was tender, soft and chewy. Noodles were chewy while the mushrooms was fresh. The date in it was an interesting addition but was still tasty. Soup came out bubbling so thats a good sign to start drooling since its chilly and warm soup speaks to the the heart.

If you want authentic Korean soup pot this place kills all the rest of Korean restaurants that I have been to. Their beef soups what ever kind is spot on. Ox tail, ox knee, short ribs or intestines is so right. Even the chicken gensing is really good. I wish they have galbi but I didnt see it on the menu. I only tried the bulgogi which is good too and the seafood pancakes is really really good.

My wife and I usually gets Haejanggook. We dont get great dish every time but 95% of the time dish is well made. Boys usually get pork cutlets and 99% of the time, they dont get disappointed. Since they are bigger they usually order another dish like bibimbop, soondubu, chadolbaegi. Their kimchis can be inconsistent at times. It used to be quite good 15 years ago but it is no longer as good but still decent. Our family will continue to go regularly whenever we have outing to oakland.

I eat here pretty much every week at lunch. Menu is same all day. I don’t have to mention more about the food here because it’s better than anything else in Oakland, and better than other general Korean restaurants that do Korean BBQ because this place specialize in beef bone broth (gomtang) soup.They’re consistent and comparable to LA and Korea.

Must try!! Seoul Gom Tang is our go to spot for fresh, authentic, homestyle Korean food! Haemuljeon and Galbitang are the faves but I also love the banchan. Kkakdugi is best by far over other restaurants Ive tried and their portion sizes are very generous.

Good soup and seafood pancakes. Some serving sizes may be larger than you expect.For the inexperienced, be aware that some dishes use organ meat. Gomtang is unsalted by default, add your own salt (carefully) as well as green onions and other seasonings, as desired.

Loved this place! The green onion and seafood pancakes were so good, the Kimchi dumplings and the staff was very skilled. The food came out very quickly and they even helped us made a couple decisions when we were hella indecisive.The atmosphere was also very good, very well priced. Ok experience. I had their signature brisket in broth. I am not familiar with this dish, so I was surprised by the lack of flavor. The broth was extremely bland. I am not sure if this is how it is suppose to taste, but I wouldnt get it again personally. Service was so-so. The waitress was attentive, but she had this very casual and smug attitude. I understand she was probably trying to be cute and funny, but her demeanor came off slightly rude. I would not return because there are other Korean places to try.

Have been coming here for years. Their food is consistent, you know what you are going to get. Nothing fancy but good traditional Korean home cooked meal feel, just like your mom used to make. Dinner time gets crowded, and service slows down a little. I recommend going there little early to avoid the crowd.

This review is for takeout only:I picked up some food and did not think it was great, especially in an area with many excellent Korean restaurants.-The bulgogi was overcooked and dry--it may be different in the restaurant, but for takeout they could account for this.-The galbitang was a little bland, and the meat was not so tender.-The mandu were good-Kimchis: not bad, but I would have liked some banchan with the takeout too.Overall, not impressed, but I would definitely give it another try for indoor dining once Covid is over, since I know its hard to adapt to takeout

Came here 3x- We ordered pickup and found parking pretty easy. - The takeout packaging was sealed very neatly and they gave us a cardboard tray to further secure the soups from spilling.- Every time, the Galbi Tang was delicious, easy on the stomach, and the meat was easy to chew. It came with a side of Korean red pepper sauce and high quality sea salt- We tried Doganisuyuk for the first time. I’m a fan of tendons, and loved the crunchy and refreshing peppers. I’m not sure if the vinegar pickled peppers were supposed to be added to the Doganisuyuk but they went well together.- The bulgogi was tender and easy to chew, well seasoned- We got various types of kimchi in our banchan. They were crisp and refreshing.- I liked how the receiver for my call greeted me in Korean- There are 2 BTS posters next to the cash register

Really good beef and chicken soup. Friendly service.Its a go to for us for over 15 years now. When we need a hangover cure or after day drinking in Napa, wed hit this place. That rich white broth is unforgettable. Some may criticize it for the small offering of banchan dishes, but the pickled radishes, green onions, and cabbage are good.

I felt bad for this restaurant on the corner of Telegraph and MacArthur since its literally fenced off by construction. They have this sad little handwritten sign to usher people into their parking lot. (Free parking ftw btw!)Little did I know that they dont need any misplaced pity. They have a pretty steady stream of customers, new and return alike. The restaurant is fairly spacious, with 15 or so tables, and is run by two or three ladies. They are very efficient and friendly.The menu can be a little difficult to decipher if youre new to Korean food, since the descriptions dont always tell you what the dish entails. I highly recommend the thick broth with various kinds of beef. I recommend the mixed beef (which includes brisket, tripe, intestines, and tongue) or the ox knee if you like cartilage. If you dont like fringe meats, stick with brisket.Youll get a stone bowl with (very hot) broth, pieces of meat, and rice noodle. The broth is not seasoned with salt (but is very rich with flavor otherwise), so you should season with the salt available at the table, scallions, and fermented pepper as you like. Then enjoy with the few kimchi they bring you and rice.I also highly highly recommend the seafood pancake here. Its one of the best Ive ever had at a Korean restaurant in the US. Its crispy and full of veggies and seafood. Its a great deal for the price compared to other places.I dont really recommend the steamed dumplings however. They are very large (like literally the size of my fist, and you get 6), but I didnt like the filling.There are other iconic dishes like short rib stew, blood sausage, and soondoobu. I havent had any of those yet, but Ill definitely be back to try!

I really miss kamjatang from when I lived in Korea. This is one of the only places Ive found that offers the soup. Its not the same, but it scratches the itch.My friends loved their food, i think they had the ox tail? All the banchan are amazing. Kimchi was very good, not weak. Same for kakkdeugi.

I had high hopes for this place, and the feel is very authentic. But the soup was not rich or thick like my mom or some places in LA Koreatown make it, and for gomtang, soup is everything. Normally you boil it for hours and hours to develop a rich, thick, deep umami soup.This place though, does sell other foods that I have not yet tried. Only speaking for gomtang, which is supposed to be their specialty.

Sullungtang (Seolleongtang), a Korean beef bone soup, is hard to find in San Francisco so whenever I have the craving Ill hop on BART and head to Seoul Gom Tang for my fixing. Portions are generous and more importantly, delicious. Brisket, knee tendon, or ox tail are all available. Enjoy!

Heres the lowdown:gom tang - kind of bland :( not sure if its supposed to be like that?mandu - theyre giant and super attractive when they come out on the steamer....but honestly theyre about 60% egg filler :( so depends if youre down with thatsoondubu bulgogi/haemul - AMAZING. I enjoyed the gomtang last year, so I stopped by today with my family and it was a place where they play around with their food. The cold noodles were bad, the sundae soup had a strong smell, and there was no tofu in the soft tofu. The gomtang was edible. Still, I ate it all with a smile because the kids were there, but it was the worst restaurant that was hard to pass up from the perspective of a housewife trying to manage the house. I hope there are no more scams targeting foreigners who are interested in Korean food.Americans who are interested in Korean food, avoid this restaurant. This place has lowered the quality of Korean food with the worst quality. However, if you eat gomtang, it is okay to eat.My Husband complained to the owner.Restaurant added service charge to the check without noticing and it was more than 20%. We did not want to give that much because there was unpleasant smell and taste on two out of four dishes. The people at the next table were also complaining about the taste.

The workers are very friendly and all the kimchi is really delicious. The soup was refreshing and there was a lot of meat in it, so I was really satisfied after eating it. It was a satisfying meal in every way!

Its so delicious! Seolleongtang mixed with brisket is of course delicious, and watercress and nonnaeng are also delicious! The owner said that the non-naeng sauce was a secret sauce made by adding fruit juice and aging it, but it doesnt really taste like the seasoning sauce you get in America!! The pork cutlet is also very delicious! It’s a really precious place~~
