2022-04-11 22:34:38The best 生煎包 I’ve had in Bay Area. The menu has many traditional Shanghai style entrees. Though the business looks not big currently, there don’t have many staffs in the restaurant besides the owner. Also a lot of seating are not available indoor. I wish the store could be more popular. The food was absolutely top quality.

2020-02-13 02:07:48Best 生煎包 in the bay. Best Shanghai style dumpling in the bay area. Very good dough thickness, good crisp bottom, holds juice well. Could use more scallions on top. Stuffing perfect flavor. We found spicy wontons good but with a bit too much vinegar. Cucumbers very good. Can be hard to spot in mall area, not next to Lion market but further left where other restaurants are located (small sign primarily in Chinese). Best to pay in cash, does not accept cards below $25. Highly recommend.

2018-10-21 21:32:51Pan fried dumplings are a must-order - I’ll definitely come back for again just for those dumplings. They are crispy on the bottom, yet soft and juicy with soup inside - 6 of them for ~$8.I ordered takeout of the pan fried dumplings, which took around 15 min. Credit can only be used when >$25.

2022-09-03 03:19:44Authentic Shanghai food that is nowhere to find. It’s famous for its pan fried buns (生煎包)but there’s a lot of authentic Shanghai stuff. We ordered glutinous rice Shumai (糯米烧卖) which is a rare find. They are bite size tasty dim sum that’s popular in Shanghai.Pan fried buns are good, and the only suggestion is if they could make the bottom crispy instead of stiff.Duck with glass noodles(鸭血粉丝) is also good. Wonton is okay, tastes like food you could get in Shanghai, not too much surprise.鲜肉月饼 (meat filled pastry) is also nice and a rare find, and a good timing to celebrate the moon festival.Next time we’ll probably try scallions braised pork loin with noodles, which is also a rare find (and an authentic dish in Shanghai). The dining tables are somewhat casual.

2017-12-26 03:39:50Super delicious shanghainese dishes. The XLB are piping hot and burst (literally) with flavor and taste. The must order dish is the Pan fried pork buns!! Also full of hot hot soup so take care when opening!

2019-04-09 10:43:13Best shengjian bao in the Bay! At a very reasonable price too. Everything we ordered was really great - pork ear, SJB, SJB with shrimp, potstickers, wonton noodle soup, another noodle with pork and black bean, xlb, and xlb with xo sauce. I will definitely be back

2023-03-07 20:45:17Amazing dumplings. Some of the best Ive ever had. Price was affordable. The layout of the table was a little questionable. But the food rocked.

2017-11-23 21:22:10Quite disappointing. Most of the noodle dishes are too oily...glistens nicely on photos...but honestly its too much for the American palate. Their signature baos are the same. The meat in the bao are a bit too rubbery. The dough skin, thin like the classic baos - but is served slightly undercooked.

2023-07-25 17:10:20If I can give Shanghai Bistro a 0 star I would because they are shady! They pre-charge for food so when my order came out to be $98, I wrote down $100 on the recipe at first, and then after dinner, I gave $15 in cash as tip. HOWEVER, I just checked my credit card statement and I was charged $108 by Shanghai Bistro. So they changed the 100 I wrote down to 108 by themselves! I would not recommend this fraudulent and rip-off restaurant to anyone

2018-12-29 03:44:07The foods are more than delicious, just like authentic local foods from Shanghai/Taiwan. There are few dishes you must order: 1) Xiaolong Bao, 2) Sheng Jian Bao (pork bun), 3) Pot Sticker and 4) beef noodle. The soy milk is also good. Most of the customers are Chinese. The staff can speak Chinese.
