Food - sweet and sour chicken was great. They use really good breast meat and get it decently crispy. Tasted like they use pretty fresh oil too. Sauce was as sweet as it should be. Nobodys ordering sweet and sour chicken to try to be healthy. And they understand that. Fried tofu, pork dumplings, and orange chicken or also really good.Service - great. They were polite and showed up to the table enough but not too much. Food came out quickly enough.Atmosphere - it looked like a pretty typical Chinese restaurant. Works for me.Well be back.

When my wife and I crave chicken wings Shanghai Bistro sates our craving. The wife enjoys their straight spicy chicken wing with just the red pepper topping. I on the other hand enjoy the spicy sweet Korean chicken wings. Asian style chicken wings really have that special unique experience no matter what state youre eating them but Shanghai Bistros ticks all the boxes in taste, spice, crunch and size.

Food is always consistent and great. I personally judge a restaurant by their fried rice. So many Chinese restaurants get this one wrong, Shanghai bistro gets it right every time. My eight-year-old said “it’s the best food I’ve ever had in my whole life.”Lol.

Food and service was a hit or miss. Ive ordered twice here, to go. I dont think Id actually eat there. The place could do with a bit of cleaning. There are dishes that they do well, and some thats only decent. Price is decent for the area. Its still Woodland Hills after all.I wouldnt order the salt & pepper pork, ever again. It was tough, chewy & bland. On the other hand, their lunch menu is surprisingly good. I enjoyed their eggroll, egg drop soup, hot & sour soup & tofu with mushrooms. The bbq pork with snow peas was decent although my SO enjoyed it very much. I would come back to order the bao, enjoy it with a hoisin sauce on the side.I wasnt expecting a Wow service but I could appreciate if they got my order right (they gave me hot & sour soup when I asked for egg drop) and that the food be actually ready to go when they said its ready to pick up. It can get annoying.Ill still order from here for the proximity whenever Im in the mood for Chinese food but I wont consider it the best Chinese food Ive ever had.

Terrible food, dirty restaurant, and the risk of food poisoning here. I’d spend my money elsewhere. The lunch special I got was Mongolian beef and the beef had a horrible, fishy smell to it. I couldn’t even eat it. The rice was dry and the the egg drop soup had a terrible texture. It was like goopy snot. The salt and pepper chicken wings were okay but they were dry, looked burnt, and had that old oil taste. I wouldn’t order anything here again. It’s not worth it.

Im so sorry to have to post a negative review for Shanghai Bistro. I like their food, and their staff is usually very nice. We got the owner on the phone when ordering tonight, and placed our order no problem; were told it would be an hour. Great, worth the wait. 10 minutes later we called to ask if we could cancel one of the dishes, and the lady started in on my wife that we always complain and we are always difficult and that she doesnt want to serve us anymore. We got fired from Shanghai Bistro! Imagine that.I recall once calling to complain that they sent the wrong dish, which they acknowledged and replaced. We called once when the food was 45 minutes past the eta and was already cold, and we had even pre-tipped. We have called maybe once more when our eta was a good 15-20 minutes passed to see what time to expect delivery. We have never been rude to them. But she insisted to my wife that we are very difficult, and its her decision not to serve use. Whether she meant tonight or forever-more is beside the point, this is just an awful way to treat customers, and simple, no, Im sorry we cant cancel the one dish would have been fine. Just a shame we cant reason it out.

I used to live in China and truly amused how people think I can’t understand them…. The place is dirty and dark. Not very pleasant to stay here. The food is below average. We order for about $100 and ended up throwing almost everything away. The people that work at this place are rude. Not a smallest attempt to be friendly to customers and delivery drivers.

The food was great and the owner was very friendly. The portions were pretty big also, plenty of leftovers! They used to be further down Ventura and moved here. Parking was limited but the food made it worthwhile. Happy to have a good Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. We will be coming back.

I decided to try this place out after I received one of their marketing menus in the mail. I wish I had immediately thrown it in the trash with the rest of the junk mail. I walked in and there was no one there accept for the workers. I found that odd since it was Friday night around the time people are getting off work and going to dinner. I ordered the salt n pepper pork chops, salt n pepper wings, and combination fried rice. The fried rice and wings were just ok. The pork chops were not good at all compared to other places I had it. I went ahead and started eating the rice and wings. But I took a small bite of the pork chops and immediately let them know I didn’t like it. The lady in the restaurant who I figure is the owner asked why I don’t like it. I told her I just don’t. She pretty much told me she wasn’t going to take it back. After going back and forth with her I finally said ok I’ll go ahead and pay for it but I’m not taking it with me. She begins to tell me people take advantage of them and it’s a waste of food and that she loses money. She also told me if I were a regular customer she’d take it off. But I bought it so it’s mine now although there were no signs anywhere stating all sales are final or no returns. She started angrily speaking to my waitress in mandarin. And I recognize mandarin because I lived with a retired Chinese couple for a couple years. Finally, I asked for a take home box and packed up the wings and rice. Not the pork chops. They brought the bill over and I notice she reluctantly took off the pork chops. Before I left I let her know that sometimes in business you lose a little money. It’s called the cost of doing business. Then she said that she didn’t care about new customers. She only cares about her regular customers. I was done after that. I paid my bill, tipped my waitress, and politely said to them good evening on my way out. I won’t be back but I don’t think she cares.

I love this place!. This is my go-to place for Chinese food. This place gives good sized portions for the price its at. The food is tasty! One of the selling points, for me, was the hot and sour soup. Its one of my favorite soups, but Ive found that not a lot of places make it very well. This place does!

I have only one thing to say?What delivery driver takes two $5 bills out of your hand when you are ready to give him a tip? after paying him for the food you ordered I dont know of any - he must have been very desperate to do so? Im not making a big deal out of it, everyone in Los Angeles has a hassle strategy, however upon calling this establishment back? I spoke to the owner to see if that was a normal way of having delivery drivers to perform in that manner? he told me that it was robbery what his driver did, and his next answer after that was? I should call the police - which was a smart Alec remark, so I explained to him not to get smart with me IAM the customer, and was just warning him of how his delivery driver reacted towards the customer, they charge $4 anyways for delivery - so he made out with over 35 percent of what it cost for the food itself, Im for delivery and in no way with delivery drivers I have known for this practice to even attempt that kind of hussle very wrong!! and the owner should have just told me one simple word? I apologise thats all,

Best Cantonese Chinese restaurant. Very unusual to find this type of cuisine, unless you’re from New York. Everything is delicious! They also deliver directly from the restaurant! No hiring a third party delivery service.

This was my to go Chinese food 🥘 just to be really good food and amazing service but different cooks The chicken wings were overcook and the taste was like they haven’t changed the oil in months, Mongolian beef taste funky and the pepper beef did not have any flavor at all

The owner of this restaurant was swearing at one of the customers when i was placing my order, it was very unprofessional and she made some serious threats of bodily harm to the customer, i intervened and the owner poked me with a fork, i called the police and her and her husband started threatening me, this is not a welcoming or safe environment to be dining in, the owner does not know how to behave and is unstable, I had to go to the hospital to get 4 stitches. I will be pressing charges.

The people are very rude The driver and the person that answered the phone spoke so fast that I could not understand what they were saying. If they didnt want to deliver my food to me then they should stop delivery services. When you think of eggroll you think of the meat Mixed in with some vegetables, Nope this had SHRIMP only. I asked for no onions on everything because I am highly allergic to them, but When I called the restaurant once the driver got here and I seen that there was vegetables in my sweet-and-sour chicken the lady screamed and yelled at me over the phone saying you only say no onion No onion you only say no onion, those are peppa and carrot...No onion!!! Finally I hung up on her because I knew I was not going to get a word in edgewise. If I was a starving man and the only restaurant that was left open was the shanghai beast row I would continue to be a starving man. I wouldnt Eat at this place for all the yen in china.
