Really enjoyed date night here! The staff was very pleasant and responsive. We had the 12oz and skirt steak options and they were awesome. The drinks were also well done and not watered down. I will be adding this to my rotation of places I visit.

Off the beaten path high end Resturant! Its in the outskirts of the Sacramento in Elk Grove. Very traditional steak house kinda Resturant.Great for steak, fish or burger. Good collection of wine! Nice collection of desserts.Suitable the date night or family dinner!

We had our wedding here in November 2022. The entire experience was magical and something we will never forget. We were taken care of so well by Yesenia and her team. She made sure our day was perfect and went smoothly. She truly has a love for weddings and peoples love stories. She assured me she had everything under control so my special day had no worries or concerns. I was able to enjoy my day with my husband knowing she had everything handled. If you are looking for a magical wedding experience, this is the place to book.

My wife and I have been going to Sheldon Inn for over 13 years. The food is always top shelf no matter what you order. The staff is always very pleasant and friendly. Whenever we are in town, Tuesday night for us is date night and the Sheldon Inn is our place to go. We have developed friendships with the owners and staff over the years. If you have not been to Sheldon Inn in Elk Grove, please put it on your calendar and give it a try you will not be disappointed.

I called around 5pm yesterday to try to get a reservation and was able to book an 8:30pm. My date and I were seated at a nice low table at the bar area and our server shared the menus promptly. We got a bottle of wine with our food and enjoyed the atmosphere. It was the valentines menu that I enjoyed and my cheesecake desert was delicious. The prawns and scallops were somewhat over seasoned and my date wanted a local beer but was served an 805. That is my only negative remark. The establishment is refined, intimate, and steak was absolutely delicious. We ordered it medium as the bone kept it from cooking too much. 😋 I do wish they had more light beer selections but the pinot I had was delicious. My date isnt a wine guy as you can probably tell from the photo but we still had a great evening.

Just ate here for first time. Not sure how I never heard of this place despite living in elk Grove for 6 years. Everyone in my group enjoyed the food. They even have a kids menu! Would recommend if you are looking for fine dining.

Overall- a great experience. Server was fantastic. Wife and I just experienced a long delay to get our cocktails, but server explained that it was due to the event that caused a backup at the bar.The service was 10/10 other than that delay in the beginning of our dinner. Hostess took our picture for my wifes birthday. Would recommend this restaurant!

Thursday, 10/26/2023 - Went to The Sheldon Inn with some beautiful friends for dinner. Address is 9000 Grant Line Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95624. My first time here. It wasnt hard to find with my navigation. Lol. Its located in a quiet area. Upon arrival...Pros1) they have a little parking in the front and plenty of parking on the side of the building.2) there is a ramp to walk up to the front door. Theres a front desk you check in at. Hostess was very nice. As soon as I told her the reservation name, she smiled and took me over to the back, outside tables.3) they have heaters for people who sit outside. Its beautiful in the back. Theres lights hanging around so you can see. Theres a water fountain going.4) there is a wooden gate that was open and there was this large green grass area with beautiful landscape. It looks like it can host parties or weddings there.5) our waitress was so nice. She was very attentive. She even offered to take our picture. So sweet!6) Food presentation was beautiful. The salmon plates and the filet mignon plate looked beautiful. Buuuut.......7) they provided hot water and tea bags. Its $4.00 per person it looks like. I didnt drink any tea. Still got charged for it. Water tasted good here. No funky or metal taste to it.8) bread and butter was good. Butternut Squash soup was good, albeit on the thick side.9) restaurant clean, table clean, plates, cups, bowls, utensils all clean.10) bathroom clean.11) they provided to-go boxes for our left over foods.Cons1) all of our food plates were on the little toooo salty side. I felt it was over salted. I heard my friend said theirs were too. But, we ate it anyways. Because it was still good. Just salty.2)ConclusionWe liked this restaurant. It was very pretty, staffs were professional and attentive, hostess was very nice, restaurant clean, food presentation was great. I would like for them not to over salt their food. If we can salt our own food if its too less, that would have been better. But... in the end, we had a great time there catching up. I recommend this restaurant!

We were so impressed with the food, service and atmosphere, we celebrating our 33rd year anniversary and the staff made it very special for us that we went back the next day for dinner and it was just as special. Thank you for making us feel special on our special day. Btw this was our first time eating at this establishment and if you want a high end experience this is the place, they won’t disappoint you.

This restaurant was great tonight. I loved the ambience and the dining was fantastic. Hostess was very accepting to our request to side table because my wife and i wanted a bit of privacy for our anniversary. We even got a little surprise in the menu. Food was delightful and prompt. I hate to admit but we errd in ordering since the restaurant expected us to have a full course meal but we didnt want any appetizers and skipped to the main course instead. As we were waiting for our food, the bread and butter was served cold. But great sour taste. The soup came out next. Delicious tomato bisque. Id come back just for this soup. Served warm. Then the main course. Steak was served warm and medium. The gravy was great. It complimented the steak, mash potatoes, and green beans. Mash potatoes had a fluffy texture. Green beans had a great garlic and salty taste. Food was great. Wife had the ranch crusted stuffed apples pork chop with green beans and mash potatoes. The apple pork wasnt to our taste but it had a delightful sweet taste.Note: The sous waitor, was great btw. Sous waitor made sure we were ok and got us refills for days.Reason why this place lost stars:As we walked in, hostess had this really bewildered look as to why we were there. Once we explained we had reservations, she became nicer. As we settled down, our waitor came out to greet us. Very nice. Asked us what we would like to drink. We didnt know yet so he left us alone for a bit. After he came back, we ordered 2 adkin family wine. Tasty! After we received the wine, we decided to order since we arent too big on appetizers. We ordered our dishes and the waitor left. After another couple sat down next to us, our waitor came back to assist the new couple. Received their order of appetizers and asked them if they wanted some bread and butter. Waitor left and put in their order. After a bit, our waitor came back to ask us if we wanted some bread and butter. We accepted the offer and both the couple that sat down next to us and my wife and i got our bread. Per what i wrote above, our bread was cold. Crust was hard. Had to break it apart so they could give us another batch. 2nd batch was a bit warm, like 1 second of a 1000w microwave, warm. As my soup came in, it was luke warm. I dont know if thats how they serve soup but i love hot soup. During this time to our main course coming to us, no interaction with our waitor. Our waitor hadnt even asked us how long weve been together. But, our waitor was very active with other guests. Once our food came out, of course, after the other couples food came out, food came out warm. Plates were hot but food was warm. We ate half our dishes and packed them home to heat up. Honestly felt like the waitor was happy we left because the waitor came to check us out quickly.I would like to try this place again for the food, doordash, but i would not come back to this place for their disregard to customer service to all their customers.

We have been going there a lot. I was VERY upset that they didn’t have my bud light. There one week and gone the next. Was told they changed the menu and beverages. Well, we all know why. I will not be returning Also, my last meal there was awful. I got the Halibut that was dryer than beef jerky.Sincerely,Very upset customer :(

It’s quite amazing that a nice, white tablecloth restaurant is located in such an obscure location. In any case, the food here is amazing, even if you’re vegetarian. We tried their brussel sprouts, deviled eggs, and pastas. Everything was delicious and shows that they have experienced cooking crew. Service was excellent as well. We started off at the winery next door to the restaurant, which is what I would recommend if you’re planning to come here.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent hospitality.Our server, Joe, was fantastic. He was attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations based on our preferences. He checked in on us frequently throughout our meal, ensuring that we had everything we needed.The hostess, Ruby, also deserves special mention. We had made a same-day reservation and she went above and beyond to accommodate our request. She expertly shuffled tables around to ensure that we were seated promptly and comfortably. My mom and brunch are two of the things I love most, so having an excuse to combine the two always makes for an excellent Sunday. Elk Grove is growing into a bustling metropolis, and yet to find this amazing spot you have to get away from the city a bit. Head a few miles out on Grant Line and you find the Sheldon Inn, which is a funky spot that looks like it could be (and may very well actually be) an old farm house. Decent amount of parking, and they do take reservations but not sure we actually needed it. We were here at 11:30 on a Sunday and it was busy, but there were a few empty tables. Service was great, everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful and it seemed clear from the start that service matters here.Started off with a bloody Mary, another on that list of my favorite things, and often times they become ridiculous as bar tenders try too hard to load them with junk. This one had a really nice piece of shrimp and an olive and the kicker, a stalk if asparagus. Not gaudy, but very tasty. Not as spicy as some, but peppery, which I like, and neither strong nor weak, which works for a morning libation. They bring out a small plate as you arrive with some fresh fruit, scone, and a couple small slices of coffee cake, a nice welcome and all quite good. Though the star of this show is the creme brulee French toast. There arent words for how scrumptious this is. Really good bread, some fresh berries,and this sort of dulce de le he sauce that I would leap into a pool of and drink my way out. Very pleased and they have a lovely outdoor patio which made for a very nice brunch. Had trouble with bees bothering us a bit, not too pesky or troublesome, but they kept this 4 star from becoming a 5 star.

The small positive touches are a great reflection on the owners and management that help a great staff deliver a memorable visit. Our daughters birthday was greeted with menus stating her name along with Happy Birthday on the top of specially printed menus for our table that included the same great items on every other menu.Our ten-year-old was delighted that she was special on the day to everyone and that her name was spelled correctly.The outside seating not far from the large lawn and herb garden was ideal for our girls to take a walk and burn some energy while waiting for dinner.

I just celebrated my 12 year anniversary with my wife there. The atmosphere/ambiance was classy without being pretentious. The staff was amazing and kept great attention to detail. They remembered our names and even came by and took a photo of us and made a little Happy Anniversary card out of it! My wife got the almond crusted chicken that was fantastic and I got the ribeye. Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable and happily answered all our questions.I do wish I spent a little extra for the special dry aged ribeye instead of the normal one. Oh well, next time!

Theres the new bar upstairs, theres the bar downstairs, theres the party at the winery - why did the dining room need to become more lively? Thats fine for a lower price point for food. But at those prices, Id expect a comfortable, romantic atmosphere, not lively.Old review:If you tell them ahead of time that youre there for a special occasion, they will print out the menu with your name on it. Theyll also take your photo, print it, and present it to you in a paper frame - such a nice touch.The food is great, too. Everything Ive had has been a B+ or above. But save room for dessert and GET THE CREME BRULEE! Theirs is the absolute best creme Brulee ever. The burnt sugar topping is light and delicious, not like some places where you need a jack hammer to break through! Shout out to Ariel, their sous chef - dude, you kill that creme Brulee. Yum!

This place was absolutely amazing. My company held our holiday party here in the club upstairs. It was very nice up there, the staff was super friendly and on top of everything to keep the party moving along smoothly with appetizers, meals, and drinks for everyone. The food was absolutely amazing, I had a filet mignon, mashed potatoes and veggies and every bit of it was well cooked and delicious. Chocolate mousse for dessert was also just as amazing.

First of all let me say, this was my first visit to Sheldon Inn after living in elk Grove for the last 20 years. We walked in and sat at the bar and have a drink each. They had good drinks s and beer selection. The bartender gave us excellent service as well as the two hostesses greeted us when we first walked in. After sitting at the bar for a half an hour, or table was waiting for us. We ordered the surf and turf trio as an appetizer, the salmon egg rolls We’re good the grilled shrimp was even better, but the beef tenderloin tips, out of this world. The Portuguese bean soup was delicious. By this time I was already getting fall but I had ordered a 9 ounce filet mignon. Is fillet mignon was cook better than a steak that I would have had at Morton’s, and it only cost $30, which also included potatoes and broccoli. I would definitely recommend Sheldon Inn, can’t wait to eat there again. Also I have to say everyone there gave the best service I’ve had in a long time in a restaurant.

The crab cakes were just a little over done with little crab taste and the rice was over cooked so it was just green beans and halibut which were good. Glad my drinks were good. Just dont get the chocolate martini, it was weak and watery. Overall it was still a good night out. 🌸

Had dinner on New Years Eve, had also paid in advance for the New Years Eve Party. The electricity in the area was out when we arrived however the wait staff handled it well however the owner, Mr. Adkins never credited my credit card for the canceled party that I had paid on the December 27, 2022. It’s now January 7th, 2023 and still no credit and now I call today only to get an answering machine telling me they’re closed through next week. What’s interesting is they billed my credit card over $280.00 for the dinner for two but never issued the credit for the canceled party that I paid despite telling me the amount would be deducted from the cost of the dinner which it wasn’t. So they made sure that they got their money for the dinner but clearly failed to issue the credit for the canceled party which was charged to my credit card long before the dinner. Then to add insult to injury they closed for vacation without issuing the credit for the canceled party. It would bother anyone that they billed for the dinner but failed to issue the credit for the canceled party to my credit card and then went on vacation with customers money that they owed reimbursement to. Poor judgment by the owner Mr. Adkins whom I spoke with previously and I was assured the credit would be issues this week. Bad optics, and a total disregard for the people that paid for a party that was canceled. Very frustrated to find that they are now closed for vacation and did NOT issue the credit as promised. Nothing pending on my card either which means it was never done. The manager on duty on New Years Eve promised to deduct the party amount of $100.00 from our dinner but that didn’t happen either. This just shows a total disregard for the customer and very poor judgement by Mr. Adkins.

I recently held my 50th birthday party in their newly remodeled upstairs banquet room. Upon finishing we did mention to our waiter that the food was cold and the omelet undercooked ..the manager then came over and was apologetic and offered to remake the omelet, at that point it was a No thank you, we did not have another hour to spare to wait for a plate to be redone. Moments later the manager arrives with 2 desserts saying she wanted to make sure we had a good experience. We said thank you and asked if they would be boxed up to go as we had to leave ...she said sure thing...yet NEVER RETURNED !!If you are looking for a nicely decorated restaurant that takes over an hour to bring out your cold food, charges you $15 plus for breakfast, and leaves you hanging on your complimentary dessert as a sorry for the poor service this is the place for you.First and last time ever visiting.

Went to dinner with friends who had been there before and said it was good. Not this time. Our friends got there ahead of us and had received their drinks. We sat down and it took the waitress 10 minutes to take our drink requests and we finally got them 15 minutes later after asking another server to check. Main course arrives with three of us ordering steak and one getting the fish. Herein lies the only bright spot. The proteins were actually seasoned and cooked well. The sides however were awful. I got some tasteless broccoli and the baked potato could not have been fresh. It was grey and dark on the inside and screaming hot like it just came out of the microwave. Dessert was fine but nothing special. As we always do with our friends the check is split and we gave her 2 cards. She comes back and thanks us for coming but then come back a few minutes later to say that she may have given us the wrong check and now comes a confusing and lengthy exercise to figure it out. At the end she assures us we have the right amount to pay and by now I just want to get this over with. The second check turned out to be $60 more and if I wasn’t so ready to leave I would have wanted more proof from her that the amount was correct. She didn’t offer to bring back the actual check and we didn’t ask. The restaurant is billed as upscale but was not the fine dining experience we were expecting. I read a lot of great reviews for this place so maybe it was an off night.

We had an amazing dinner dining experience here yesterday. The outdoor eating area is gorgeous and the tables are spaced very far apart. For our special anniversary dinner, my husband chose the surf and turf special and I had the filet mignon. There was bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, and a nice mayo. It was served with french fries. It was really savory and had a nice deep grilled taste. My only criticism was that was maybe a bit too much savory and not really much else to counter balance the tastes, especially since the fries were also heavily seasoned. I had some ketchup and ranch that kind of helped balanced it out. BUT overall, it was a good meal.One thing I found really cool was when it came to dessert, our waitress came out with a tray of the desserts they were serving that night. We ended up getting a berry cobbler (forgive me I forget what kind of berry, but it was a type of blackberry) served with vanilla ice cream on top. A lemon cheesecake, and a chocolate mousse. No over powering tastes, and they were all balanced out in terms of sweetness. Would definitely recommend to those who are looking for a nice fancy night out.

Im honestly not understanding how this place has good reviews. Ive had higher quality food and more attentive service out an outback steakhouse chain, and Its going to sound snobbish but I consider outback to be of low quality when it comes to steakhouses. Yet Id prefer it over Sheldon inn any day. My husband and I spent $200+ on dinner bottle of wine appetizers and dessert. Never have we been so disappointed with a date night meal! My hubands prime rib was lukewarm and tough, our red wine was warm, my aged ribeye was cold and definitely not aged. Our dinner lacked quality ingredients, flavor, and presentation. Our bacon wrapped scallops appetizer was something out of a nightmare! The bacon was burned and detached from the scallops and the scallops were undercooked. How does that even happen?We wouldnt return if you paid us! Extremely disappointed! Dont waste your time our money. If you are craving quality prime rib with exquisite presentation, service, and ambiance go to the house of prime rib in San Fran if you have the time. If not you are better off going to outback steakhouse. They are a quater of the price and serve hot food, properly chilled wine, and salads served on chilled plates w chilled forks!

Fine dining without any pretentiousness. Family owned and run. Food is excellent and wine list is decent. Both reasonably priced. 2 people can easily eat with apps and wine for under $100. Of course you can also spend considerably more.Servers need to remember there are certain dos & donts when serving ie: serve from the left, pull from the right, no reaching in front of guests. Bring me a new fork. Dont ask if Ill keep my app fork to save him the trip of replacing a dropped one. Dont ask if I want an olive in my martini, or a lime in my gin & tonic. Dont hold my glass of wine with your greasy fingers gripping the rim (literally). These quibbles may seem petty but are mistakes no server should make. All that said, I like this restaurant very much.

The Sheldon Inn certainly tries to be an upscale restaurant (as reflected by their prices). But our experience there left something to be desired.Let’s start with ambience. This restaurant is LOUD. Think Applebee’s on a Sunday afternoon loud. If I’m going to drop $100+ on dinner for two I’d like to be able to converse with my date without having to shout at her to be heard. The tables are all shoved together in a giant room, the lights aren’t dimmed at all, so there really isn’t any table privacy. There were two very large birthday party groups that killed any sort of mood. It was so cold inside that my wife couldn’t take her coat off all evening. To top it all off, our tea light centerpiece stayed unlit.Let’s talk food. We ordered the pork belly as an appetizer. It had good flavor, but was cold in the middle. Salads followed. Now, I like a little color in my salad. At least maybe a tomato or two. But these salads looked like someone ran to Costco, grabbed a box of mixed lettuce, threw it in a place and squeezed some dressing on top. Entrees followed. Now, there wasn’t anything wrong with the main dishes. But at $40/plate I expect to be wowed. They were just ok (again, think Applebee’s on a Sunday afternoon). We ordered the chocolate cheesecake for dessert and it was good. However, the berry reduction that it was plated with overpowered the cheesecake. Side note- throughout the evening our water glasses stayed empty far too long.Overall, if I’m going to spend $100+ for dinner for two I have some expectations. The Sheldon Inn failed to meet them. I would not return or recommend it to a friend unless they seriously reconsidered their prices (I don’t mind putting up with bad atmosphere or average food for $10-$15/plate).

Searched on Yelp while driving down Grant Line thinking wed end up at Big Als BBQ again, but found Silvas.Upscale dining at reasonable prices. Excellent service. Fabulous food!Polenta appetizer with spinach, mozzarella, and mushroom marinara was delish. At our servers suggestion I ordered the free range almond crusted chicken breast stuffed with dried cherries and apricots. One of the best meals Ive had anywhere. Hubby had the Niemsn Ranch pork chop stuffed with granny Smith apples and applewood smoked bacon. Also incredible.This place is in an old country building but inside out is tastefully decorated in an understated blend of old world and modern.Our bill with appetizer, two entrees, a glass of wine and dessert was under $75 including tax and tip. Good sized portions of delicious food.Definitely recommend this place and hope I get to dine there again
