Ive lived across the street for 8 months and finally got around to trying this spot out! I am extremely impressed as I got takeout and the quality was still top notch. Ordering online was fast and easy and they even have a rewards program!What I got:Pork bun 9/10 - very tasty, good cut of pork, a little too much mayo for my likingSpicy tuna roll 10/10 - very fresh and good portion. Delicious!Tonkotsu shio ramen 9/10 - amazing flavorful broth that isnt too salty. Good size cut of chashu. Loved the thick noodles. Seasoned egg was perfectly flavored and cooked well. Just wish the toppings portions were slightly larger.Parking is limited but lucky me I can walk over. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Great food, better service. After spilling a large portion of my beer, our server snapped into action and cleaned up the mess quickly and graciously. She never made me feel guilty for my mistake and actually got me another one. The owner was outside directing vehicles into spots. He was very enthusiastic to accommodate guests and is one of those owners who is doing work beside his team where it counts. Great food, fantastic management, and fantastic service. This place has it all and needs more recognition! The sushi nigiri combo was great as well as our ramen.

Overall average experience, we took the wagyu besides sushi rolls which was fun to grill it yourself but the pieces were so tiny like eating the skin of a meat piece, definitely not worth 50 dollars for that plate aloneWe took different( one dish by 2x) sushi rolls and they all tasted the same and the tempura was too oily and soft.Gabi our server was amazing, 20% tip comes out as mandatory in the end of the receipt

Great place. Always a fan of the izakayas so I had to try this place out.Price is good, Service is good, and food is good.I went with the Yakitori and we did 2 rounds of the pitcher beer. Great time with friends at a cool izakaya. Also nice that they stay open a bit later then other restaurants.Love it, and happy it’s walking distance.

Wow, the Madelyn roll at the Shin was absolutely delightful! The combination of salmon, chili oil, cucumber, avocado, and tempura flakes on the inside, along with tuna, ponzu, green onion, and chili garlic on the outside, creates a tantalizing blend of flavors and textures. The contrast between the fresh fish and the crunchy tempura flakes, along with the tanginess of the ponzu and the kick of the chili garlic, must have made for an incredible taste experience. A must try!In addition to the mouthwatering Madelyn roll, Shin provided great service and a fantastic ambience. A combination of attentive and friendly service can truly enhance the dining experience, making you feel welcome and well taken care of.

Shin Ramen is on another level. The cleanliness is 11/10. Each placesetting is individually wrapped protecting it from germs. Their ramen menu is setup to be very customizable... there are 3 vegan broth options among the mix of classic broths. The owner was our server and very obviously takes a super high level of care and puts an incredible passion into his restaurant. Ive been craving the food, the service and atmosphere since I last visited and will be back as soon as I come to the area!Update: this place is even better than I remembered! Highly recommend the paiten ramen and the tofu nigiri!

Now one of my all time favorite sushi restaurants in LA hands down. From fresh toro to fresh wasabi and fantastic yellow tail. Me and my girlfriend had a great time with an attentive and friendly staff too. Will come back many times.

What a gem. Located in a smaller building near the Roosevelt hotel.We ordered the Tuna Toro. Was the freshest tuna ever. The sushi steak with caviar was delicious.Tim the owner came over and even told a few jokes. Eating here will be one of your best meals ever!

The food here is delicious and thankfully the space is open late. When I lived in the neighborhood I was a regular here and thoroughly enjoyed every meal.The sushi is fresh.Ramen is out of this world.The owner is also lovely, he is great.I highly recommend.Parking is complicated here.

Shin has truly surprised me. A sushi and a ramen place, that has nailed both.You start by receiving extra feeling of clean servings wrapped in plastic, along with hot towels for hands.The server is great, everyone was very nice, and ready to answer our questions,The menu had a nice feeling, along with a great visual representation of the wine card, making your choice easy, even if you aren’t sure what you normally would like.A Bento Box with Pork Katsu. 4 stars. The pork truly was a little harder to chew than you would wish.A small sashimi combo. 5 stars. Served with a little sunomono, toro roll, and 3 types of fish served on top of dry seaweed. I need that meal again.This place is going up onto my favorites and I’m surely coming back.

I cannot believe they charge money for their food. It is impossibly bad. I ordered veggie miso ramen and the noodles were one big undercooked block that wouldnt separate. There was maybe 4 ounces of broth. The uninspired vegetables thrown on top were completely RAW, like big chunk of raw broccoli, etc.. Zero flavor. I ended up going hungry to the event I was in town for because this was not edible. Now, I ordered take out and only one dish, but the fact that they even let that out the door speaks volumes about the place.

My sister and I were in the mood of some ramen and we spotted this place. The kotteri miso ramen was filling and delicious. Portions are big (at least for European standards). As an appetiser we had the gyozas which were also extremely tasty. Not to forget the mention the super friendly staff. Highly recommended!

This place is fabulous! Was having a late 🌃 night stroll along Hollywood Boulevard with my sweet 💗 and decided to get some 🍣. Did a quick Google search and discovered this nice little gem on the corner of Hollywood/La Brea. We were immediately greeted by several of the staff and seated at the 🍣 bar (my sweet 💗 likes to see her food preparation done in front of her...she makes🍣 at home so she likes to pick up techniques by observing). The menu is extensive and the food is absolutely delicious. The the portions are generous and the fish is fresh. I highly recommend this place 💫.

Do not eat here please save yourself. The food is incredibly overpriced and uses cheap ingredients on top of that the shrimp I got smelled horrible and despite sending it back the food I did eat caused me to have really bad food poisoning. Another thing to note is that the staff was incredibly rude when I asked about the shrimp. overall it was a terrible experience I recommend you stay far away from this place there are much safer cheaper and better tasting options just down the street.

I can say that the bathroom was clean, not with a good aroma but clean, the food was delicious, the smell was not so striking, but Yeni had a good taste, the service was good but not so that they automatically charge me the gratitude of 20% for two people, the prices are high to say that you can pay a good salary to your employees and you should leave 20% tip, I am one of those who leaves the tip according to the service they provide me but I hate going to places that give it to me They include force. and I also added an extra to the tip because when I wanted to pay the girl arrived immediately with the machine and she didnt let me check the ticket, I realized until I got home... for that reason I would not return to this place and I will upload it to my ticktock account so people know the disadvantages of this restaurant

The service here was great. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the good was so-so at best. The calamari was good. However, the ramen noodles were a bit tough. The tonkatsu ramen broth lacked much flavor. The bluefin tuna sashimi were thin strips of rather limp fish.Theres a small, free parking lot out front which is much appreciated, but the restaurant itself is kind of in a slightly dingey strip mall. There were also a bunch of mosquitoes that bit us, as we were sitting outside. All in all, not the most comfortable dining experience.

We are in a Sunday night after a concert. The location was busy but we got outside seats quickly. The service was responsive to request but no proactive. The outside atmosphere was claim and good for conversation.I had the fire ramen, Dragon Balls, chicken.I felt the ramen and chicken was really salty. However the ramen pork belly topping was really good, was really tender and had a mild char giving it a nice Smokey taste. The biggest surprise was the lack of spicyness of the fire ramen.The dragon balls was the best thing I had that night I was tasty and the octopus was tender.Of note: they where out of sushi rice that night so I was not able to try there selection of sushi and rice balls on offer.

TERRIBLE RESTAURANT. DO NOT GO HERE. INSTANT NOODLES IS BETTER THAN THIS.If youre in Hollywood, your best bet is to go somewhere else honestly. I am not sure why this restaurant is rated so high. Everything tastes very salty. It is very inauthentic. Cup Noodles tastes better than this. My fiancé threw up twice from eating the ramen. The decor is awkward and for some reason, theres multiple waiters/waitresses per table. Its just generally sketchy.The owner of this restaurant takes a lot of offense over negative reviews, and will heavily shame you FYI. Really bad practice.

We came in on a Friday night. Food was amazing. We got green tea, Gyoza, ramen, and sushi and everything was wonderful! The atmosphere is fun and inviting. The restaurant had a great vibe. We met the owner on the way out and he was such a cool guy. Caring, hospitable, and made us all leave with a smile on our face. Definitely will be going back when we are in Hollywood next!

Im not one to leave negative reviews, but I truly had an unpleasant experience here. I went with 2 friends and ordered 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and I was thoroughly disappointed. None of the appetizers came out on time or together, I got mine when my freind got her entree and the crispy rice was burnt. And then I didnt receive my entree until everyone was done with their food, and it was just a crunch roll. Then we got the bill, for reference a robot delivered our food to the table and it was about 10:20pm the waiter then said our system automatically charges a 20 percent tip after 10. What for is my question when they didnt do anything. And also they charge $4 for the wait staff on the bill. And i was also charged for a beer I never got or ordered I ended up spending $140 on this bad experience, never again.

The food came out quick and tasted very fresh.The Shin ramen isnt great, but there are other items in the menu. Its still brave of them to give it the same name as the restaurant if its not the signature ramen. Unfortunately, its too pricey for me to give the ramen another shot with so many tried-and-true options in the area. There are also a few other negative reviews on the ramen, so its difficult to give it the benefit of the doubt.But they have a cool sushi bot that delivers sushi to your tables! (I didnt have any sushi, so I cant speak to its taste, but I saw the robot in operation and it was a fun little spectacle).Im not giving it fewer stars because I didnt try the sushi (and who knows, maybe it turns out to be amazing) or other dishes, and I really did enjoy the shrimp. Its a solid 3 stars for me based on what I ordered; and given the quality of some nearby restaurants, thats a notable win for Shin.

A little on the pricey side of Ramen for me. Probably cause of where they are located. They have a robot that can deliver food to your table, unless they change the configuration of the tables, then it gets lost.We saw it turn into our table, trying to get to a different table. A roommate would have been able to go around us, but this robot just stayed there, and a server had to make the delivery and send it back to its room for failing to deliver.

We were visiting the Hollywood area today and found a local ramen spot so we decided to swing by and scope it out. Maybe the sushi + ramen should have been an indicator, but we were hungry so we just went for it anyways.The service is good, but I can’t say the same thing for the ramen or the karaage I tried. The karaage is nothing like Japanese karaage which normally has a soy sauce flavor to it and doesn’t require dipping sauces. This one reminded me of chicken tenders.As for the ramen... there’s a bunch of options, but the ramen just isn’t good. The charshu and soup base don’t go together well. If you’re into traditional Japanese ramen variations this is not the place. If you’re into instant ramen or more Americanized spots you might be ok with it.

A truly awesome old school Hollywood gem! It’s very big inside, there’s sushi bar seating area, a separate regular bar with seating area and dining room!I love the little blue cubes on the table that you press when you’re ready for ordering! And I loveee the toilets with bidet and all these cleaning/drying options! The ramen was good but lacked the je ne sais quoi to make me really recommend it…it seemed like all the pieces were there but it just didn’t wow me. The eel roll was pretty solid but again not amazing. Five stars for Hollywood Blvd, four stars for the wider world.Have to share that I recently had the best ramen I have yet tasted (Kodaiko - DT Sacramento) so this may color my review lower than normal.

The house ramen is delicious and the staff are great! The build-your-own ramen option is great too. I like my ramen rich and thick so next time I’ll order the Tonkotsu. Get here earlier in the day or evening if you want CBD added to the broth. It seems really popular and runs out regularly.

The Zebra Dip has very powerful umami and garlic flavor to it. The pricing is a little bizarre and opaque - I went for lunch and expected the dish to be $17 but on the receipt it was $22. I’m still not sure how that happened considering I didn’t order anything extra - but looking at the menu again it seems like they add $1.50 to every noodle dish for the noodles? Because I guess it’s weird to assume noodle soup comes with…noodles?

Overall, dining here was a pleasant experience. I would give five stars for the service, three stars for the food. Service was extraordinary, both the chef and the waitress were very friendly, but the food itself was just okay. I got the Shin Ramen, my friend got the Yakisoba. Ramen broth was too salty and I couldn’t taste anything aside from the saltiness; the bean sprouts and mushrooms were very fresh and tasty though. The texture of the noodles wasn’t smooth enough for me. Chashu was a bit on the bland side. My friend said the yakisoba tasted more like udon because of how sticky the noodles were.

Been here a few times with the wife since we live in the area. Menu has a large variety of japanese style foods and everything ive tried here has been pretty good. Service has also been great. Wouldnt call this a cheap place though and if i could change anything it would be to add more dinner specials/combos or something similar. All the props to the owner for tackling that homeless guy that attacked a customer, if more good people stood up this city would be less of a dump and for that alone ill continue to visit the restaurant.

The food was good. The staff was friendly. For a couple rolls of sushi (on the less expensive side of the menu) and miso soup with tip was almost $50 for just myself. That seems a little more expensive than the two $ rating. And the staff wasnt wearing masks, which is fine, but that should be updated on the page here if its not something theyre gonna do.I dont need to spend $50 on a light lunch, so I probably wont be back. But for those than can afford that, its pretty good.

Ive been here quite a few times, its open pretty late. I love their more traditional ramen, although Ive ordered the dip ramen a few times and i dont really care for it. The broth is good, but its never hot when I order it and the noodles are always a little too al dente. Good place to go for sake a sushi as well, but the most recent time I was there I noticed (as with just about everywhere post-covid) that the prices have gone up, and if you dine after 10pm theres an additional 20% charge that they add on.

My one-star reviews are few and far between. I tend to take a holistic approach to judging a restaurant and understand that my experience may not necessarily reflect on another’s. With that being said, I do not understand how this place has such great reviews, and truly believe it needs to be knocked down at least a couple of stars. My family and I dined here June 22. We were lured in here by the great reviews and late hours, only to be given a mediocre and expensive meal with totally unacceptable service. When we asked our server, who seemed friendly enough at first, about one of the appetizer dishes (takoyaki), he told us there were 9 pieces, but that he “wasn’t sure.” There were five pieces, which none of us minded as he genuinely seemed like he didn’t know, and we were craving the dish anyway. But upon taking a bite out of my first piece, I tasted still-frozen octopus in the middle! The pork curry entree was flavorless and the greens were more like a decoration than what was advertised, and they had a weird gritty taste as well. I politely brought up the frozen takoyaki issue to one of the female servers, who said she’d “let the kitchen know.” I wasn’t expecting anything, but literally nothing was done about it. Not even an apology. Our server even dropped the friendly act halfway through our meal when he brought my father a dish (or drink?) and brusquely dropped it on the table without looking at us or saying a word, and before we could even say “thank you,” immediately turned and walked away like he had an emergency to tend to. I get being busy, but we were one of only two or three other tables there. Perhaps he thought we weren’t going to tip him since I had a complaint about the food? Luckily for him, we don’t punish the server for the kitchen’s mistakes and left a good tip regardless. However, we did not account for the surprise 4% tax included in the bill, AND the additional surprise that the prices on the menu weren’t even accurate. We ended up paying $2-3 more per dish than what was advertised. My husband enjoyed his ramen well enough so we tried just brushing it off and giving them the benefit of the doubt, but issue after issue left us all feeling uncomfortable and wishing we went somewhere else. What a disappointment.

My family and I didnt have a great experience here. First, the menu was misleading. The ramen section made it look like it came with a choice of meat, but didnt signify that they were an added cost. We only found out later when the check arrived. Also, we ordered a side of shrimp + vegetable tempura only to get just the vegetables and no shrimp. We told waiter to convert that into the cost of just vegetable tempura and he said sure, but still charged us the original price for shrimp + vegetable tempura. I ordered the bento box and it has got to be the saddest looking chicken teriyaki bento Ive ever eaten. The 4 rolls that it came with were mini sized so technically, if combined, it was only 2. There were only about 5 thinly sliced chicken pieces topped with a thin layer teriyaki sauce that is dried out (it looked like paste). The salad only had a few leaves and it can hardly be called a salad. Finally, dont order the skewers - they are a ripoff. The plump menu pictures looked like they were worth the price for ~$5 per 3 piece skewer, but when they arrived, there were hardly any meat on them. We really wanted to like this place, but felt like we were snubbed of quality food and service. Would not return ever.

This place is great, the atmosphere needs a little work, they recently expanded next door, the lights need dimming, the walls need a warm color and maybe some lamps hanging around, plants and statues. We ordered shin ramen. Its alright if you just want a bowl of ramen. The pork chasiu is quite hard and dry, not as good as the chasiu from most ramen places. Also. You have to pay extra for common ingredients in the ramen such as spouts, mushrooms, and bamboo:( the ramen broth is also very salty. If your hungry its alright. I liked this quirky little alcove with outdoor seating and parking just out of view from the roaring Hollywood Blvd near the southwest corner at La Brea it’s slightly hidden in a small strip mall shared parking with a cute Italian restaurant a bit closer to the street. It hides behind the La Brea motel where I stayed and I never saw it from Hollywood Blvd. so now that you can find it I recommend that you do. This is a high end top shelf sushi bar with lots of culinary flair! Japanese restaurants are never cheap but this one is not too expensive for the value. They have extensive assortment snd selections and my ramen for under $20 was filled with.double noodles and extras chosen from a large assortment which is a great novelty I’ve never had before! You can pick and choose all sorts of goodies to go in the steaming brew! Also TONS of appetizer and mini yakitori and seaweed salads and Japanese pickles and all of that Asian delicatessen stuff you can only find in the big city! I especially loved the fact the on a Sunday afternoon they had a few unobtrusive big screens up with the football game that you could see but not hear. Perfect! The outdoor seating was very nice because this place is in a protected cove off of La Brea and you never sense the Hollywood Blvd clamor. Plus I even say a doggy water bowl outside which suggests they are pet friendly outdoors, perhaps! Try this, especially if you’re staying at the Hollywood LaBrea Inn. It’s invisibly just around the corner and is the best thing in walking distance that I’ve found. 4 stars!

I visited here while exploring Hollywood! It was late and I had a long day, walking by I noticed this place was PACKED so naturally I wanted to see what all the fuss was about! The owner was on location and must have noticed how confused I looked because I had never had ramen before! He actually sat me down at a table and told me all about Ramen, the history, the process, the favourites offered at this restaurant, and helped me order! My dish came out quickly and was DELICIOUS and I had such an AMAZING experience! I will absolutely be back here next time Im in LA, and Ive been enjoying ramen ever since :)

I visited Shin Ramen 2 times in the past 3-5 months or so. The taste is decent, not completely authentic. Slightly on the fusion side I would say. Food is so so and not authentic. Place seems old and dirty especially the restroom. We were automatically charged 20% gratitude plus 3% service charge. It makes a close to $18 a bowl of ramen. Not satisfy at all

Decent ramen, but broth is a little salty. Good sized portion, but a little pricey, ends up to $15-17 per bowl. Beware of the 3% service charge that is automatically added to your bill.

Got the Get Well Soon ramen, and it was super good, great flavor combination of garlic and ginger. Super great service, glad to have stopped here with friends. Would definitely recommend for inexpensive ramen.

Its a small parking lot and an even smaller restaurant. I think of this place as a modern ramen shop with the traditional offerings and some modern twists. The broth here is rich and the flavor is intense. The staff here is very attentive.

I love this place and have been going here for many years (the pork gyōza is the best Ive had). I dropped my 5-star rating to a 3 this evening, due to being unable of finishing my meal. They seem to have some new staff, and while I was mid-way through my dinner, one of the employees began mopping the floors around me with a bucket filled with heavy cleansing agents. The odor of Pine-Sol overwhelmed my senses to the point of disgust, rendering the rest of my meal, along with my remaining appetite, finished. The food was tasty and fresh, as always, and the waitstaff is always attentive and helpful. But keep to the pork gyōza. The pine gyoza I had tonight wasnt a hit.

We were acting like tourists this weekend but still wanted a solid, foodie meal so Im glad that Shin Ramen was close enough to the Chinese Theatre, right on the edge of the Hollywood Boulevard action.The actual food was just okay. My friends chicken ramen was pretty bland, and I got their tonkatsu shoyu ramen which I was told by our waiter is the most popular item here. The broth was excellent, but I wasnt thrilled about the pork in it. There were a few legit slices of chasyu pork, but mostly shabu shabu style pork slices, which Ive never seen in ramen.Also, you have to add the egg, and they give you two choices of egg: soft boiled or the more traditional ajitsuke tamago (marinated soft boiled egg). I ordered the regular soft boiled and it was barely boiled! I like my yolk gelatinous but the outside egg whites were barely holding it in so it was like eating a raw egg in my ramen. At least, with the Yelp check-in, the egg was free as you can get any any of their added toppings free (up to $2).

Staff was excellent. The unagi (eel) topping with avocado was excellent. Thing is, the steamed rice was harder than normal. I think it could use more water during cooking. The ramen was so so. The broth did not have the umami of an authentic Japanese ramen. It tasted like it was prepared quickly or was not cooked long enough during preparation. The chashu pork was also not tender enough for a Japanese ramen. I suppose the food is okay for an American restaurant trying to serve Japanese food but if the restaurant puts more effort in the food preparation, the food can be better.

I postmated the small Kara-age chicken and Shio Butter Ramen🤮The chicken was processed and cold with a bad refrigerated flavor. The ramen noodles had the same flavor and the chasu pork was as thin as cheap cold cut meat, and tasted the same refrigerated theme. I was trying something new and closer to my place........bad choice on my part, during these Corona-bs times.

Really good ramen, with lots of toppings you can choose to add on. Their tonkotsu broth based ramen are really good, and I like their wide and regular noodles. Their wide ones arent as wide as another favorite place, tatsu on melrose, but Shin has more curly noodles that I love. And they have a lot of side dishes, appetizers and snack foods as well, which most ramen places dont. Its yummy

Just ordered takeout and took an hour to make. Even after I got there… it wasn’t ready. Paid extra for chicken… they never even gave the chicken. It’s just broth, ramen & bok choy. Wouldn’t recommend ordering take out from here.

I was in LA and got a craving for ramen. After doing some researching on google I decided on Shin Ramen and I couldnt have been happier with my decision. Ever since I got back from Tokyo a couple months ago Ive been on a mission to find ramen that brings me back to a bowl of the best ramen Ive ever had in Japan. Did Shin Ramen do that? No. But they were damn close to the bowl of ramen I had in Japan.Michael (I think) was our server and he did an amazing job at taking our order and making sure everything was going well. He was also training someone else and just watching how he worked and trained her showed that he enjoyed what he was doing and wanted to make sure that other people working there provided the best customer service possible.I ordered an order of takoyaki which was amazing (seriously, get it) and then did a build your own ramen. You can make the ramen however you want it, changing proteins/noodles/toppings/etc. Everything about this place was spot on and when I return to LA and Im nearby, I will definitely stop by for takoyaki and ramen.Highly recommend you visiting here.

Unbelievable service. The to-go was placed and supposed to be ready when I get there. The two snarly looking waitresses (obviously counting down the seconds to close) very rudely said order isnt ready.F me. 20 min later still nothing. The guy (whom I presumed to be the chef lol) came back along w one of the waitresses carrying what appears to be the remnants there own personal dinner they had been eating in back (or on that smoke break)Either way, when I asked her again about how long the until the order is ready, she screams all Flo-like to that guy, who shrugs its working!!Horrible service!!Long story short, I never got that order.I left after 45 min, especially after getting lectured by the waitress that this is how the real world is sweetieHoly effing shite!! Hole in the wall strip mall you would pass up on unless hungry enough to brave what could be the best medium boiled egg in ramen I have found all over town. Seriously dont be scared away by the massage parlour and scary looking computer store hawking used Macs. Eat the ramen your stomach will thank you. The staff will thank you and you might tastesomething new. By the the way they have real wasabi.
