One of the dishes they brought out, I couldnt even tell what it was, the spare ribs had a freezer burn taste to it... The soup was delicious, and I ordered salt and pepper squid but ended up with just fried squid, which was good.

Great service, love the wide spacing between tables so we can have private conversation. This was our first visit and we were very impressed with the menu. I ordered the Yangs Platter and it came with Sexy Mama Roll, 4 Piece Nigiri, 4 Piece Green Mussel, Served with Miso Soup. Absolutely delicious!

Miso soup was ok. You can taste the flavor and the saltiness of the soup. The noodle wasn’t as soft as I would have liked it. A part of the noodle was still stuck in a clump. When I ate the half egg, the yolk was still a bit cold. I also ordered the OMG roll and Earthquake roll. Presentation was pretty but the taste wasn’t to my liking. It was a bit sweet and had too much filling like the imitation crab. Service was good though.

Great place, the food was great phenomenally flavorful. Server was outstanding. Loved the new York steak roll, the sexy mama roll was tender smooth and full of flavor, the lobster teriyaki steak was the best dish there that I tried. Nice and mild spice very flavorful great texture amazing taste!!! Highly recommended. Pricing wasnt so bad. I went during lunch and it wasnt busy no wait no line quick service. Will go try more dishes flavor.

Our main dishes : salmon which my wife said was perfectly prepared. My son and I had The Dinner Boat.It had tempura, California rolls, chicken wings and the best beef teriyaki I have ever had. Very filling and satisfying.I will say also that the service was the best weve had in a very long time.Thank you for the enjoyable time!We will be regulars for sure!

This place is the best! I have been here twice in a row! The owner is so kind and super sweet! He’ll come around and greet us and ask if we’re doing good. As well the servers and the front desk, they are super sweet and kind. The food is amazing! And a super well priced plates. I posted some of the dishes I have tried so far down below.

Wonderful miso soup and meal was above average. Large lunch crowd and it took 20 minutes to seat. Only drawback was the tempura sauce which was great with our appetizer shrimp tempura, however when we got our entrees, the tempura sauce was very watered down. Tried to get replacements, but they apparently didnt want to make more as lunch service was ending? 😳

My son and I love sushi and always try different restaurants. After reading the reviews and location, I decided to give this place a try. Wow! It was great! Atmosphere was nice. You can sit inside the restaurant or outside in the patio. Service was pleasant. The owner (I believe) came to politely greet the guests. We ordered fresh fish combo and spider crabs. There were a variety of big pieces of fish on the plate. The spider crab was crunchy and the batter was just right. It came with spicy creamy avocado sauce which was a nice touch. Over all, awesome and will definitely go back to try other stuff there!

I wanted to try their ramen but they said they were not serving it at the moment due to understaffed. That was odd so I tried other food. Its really hard to find food Japanese food now a days. Their teriyaki sauce just dont have enough flavors in it. The yaki soba was a bit tangy. My 2 yrs old loves yakisoba and she didnt like this one. The sushi wasnt as good. Its not for me.

We got miso soup which was great! For our rolls we got a spicy tuna roll, shobu roll, rainbow roll, and dragon roll. They were all great and the service was attentive we didnt have to ask for refills and the rolls came out quickly and were spicy just how we like it!

Always an amazing experience. All the servers are so so nice and experienced. The food is insanely delicious, I have yet to hear different from anyone I have taken here to try. Tonight was the first time that my wife and I have EVER been to this restaurant, and it will definitely be the last time we EVER go there. I ordered a sushi roll, and the vegetable tempura, which actually was good…my wife’s food however, was ATROCIOUS! My wife absolutely LOVES Yakisoba noodles with Chicken, and has literally ordered that same thing, at like a thousand other restaurants…but this garbage that they served her, was absolutely disgusting! My wife only took about 3 bites of this slop, and got so nauseous, she almost had to run to the bathroom to throw up. Considering that she physically could not eat this garbage, she asked our waitress, to please remove it from the bill, since SHE COULD NOT EAT IT…and this timid spineless little girl, had the audacity to come back after “talking to her mamager”, and tells my wife that her manager said that since my wife ordered it, “the best they can do, is 20% off”…which ONLY came to -$3. Are you effing kidding me?! So you’re telling me, that because we ordered something, at a restaurant that we have NEVER BEEN TO BEFORE, and something that has been delicious at almost every single other restaurant…that it is our fault, and “the best you can do, is 20%”?!? I am legitimately mind blown!! Even a fast food restaurant will give you a FULL REFUND if the food you order, is COMPLETELY INEDIBLE…but this “nice” Japanese restaurant can only give 20%??? Honestly, I have never been more appalled by the staff at a restaurant, and not only will I be doubling this review on yelp, Facebook, Instagram, and EVERYWHERE ELSE I CAN FIND…but I will also NEVER be visiting this JOKE of an establishment again. The tonkotsu ramen was 🔥🔥🔥 best in Fresno IMO. I’ve tried most of the ramen restaurants in Fresno and I’ve got to say this broth is one of if not the best. Customer service by the owner was great, even though it was busy he still took the time to personally greet us. Sushi was fresh. The only complaint is the OMG roll was a little saucy for my taste other than that, 💯

My friend and I tried this restaurant pre-COVID and had a pretty underwhelming experience. We gave it another chance a few weeks ago and were completely blown away with the significant improvements with food, customer service and overall dining experience. I can honestly say that this restaurant serves some of the best yaki soba and Japanese curry in town. I do wish, however, that there is more curry in my “curry” dish as I found myself left with way too much rice and not enough curry. Sashimi is pretty darn good too but we did get a really fishy piece of salmon, not sure if the chefs were aware. Despite this, we definitely look forward to returning to this restaurant. The owner and his staff are extremely welcoming and courteous!

Had a great experience! We were greeted upon arrival and got seated in the outdoor patio. The owner, Jerry, and his waitress constantly came to check up on us to see how our food was and whether or not we wanted more water. It is very rare to find such great service nowadays. Portion was great for the price that we paid. Thank you Jerry and staff for such a wonderful dining experience! We will definitely be back!

Food was great! Jerry Yang, owner, was very welcoming and always checking up on me. Ordered the dynamite bowl and some sashimi. Quality of fish is better than some places here in fresno. The dynamite pho, currently of now, is a newer dish. Basically a fusion or Ramen broth with Pho rice noodles. It was pretty good and something you need to try if you want something exotic.

This is my favorite ramen place in Fresno, the staff is exceptional and always take very good care of us. I always find myself debating on whether or not I should wander away from my comfort zone and trying something other than the tonkotsu ramen, but I always find myself unable to resist the hearty tonkotsu broth with the tender slices of pork and noodles. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to grub on some ramen in Fresno.

Had a very great experience on Monday. The server was very sweet, attentive, and always checked up on my girlfriend and me. Made very good conversation starters, and she also had some sick tattoos. The sushi was DROP DEAD PHENOMENAL. The chicken teriyaki bowl was so amazing. Very great quality and service . A bit pricey, but worth every penny and dime Will definitely come back soon.

Found a new FAVORITE!! We will be back. The service was amazing, very friendly, fast and well taken care of. We definitely did not realize their portion sizes were so generous. We came home with 3 take-home boxes. I love tempura and the portion sizes were larger than I have ever seen. I ordered the boat and my food came in a boat. It was a fun experience. This is a new Japanese restaurant in town and I decided to try it. My wife and I ordered an appetizer, some sushi, Jerrys special and Ramen and the food was delicious. Charlie, our server was very attentive and gave good suggestions. We will definitely come back and recommend everyone to come in and taste how delicious the food is. I first time coming here since they moved from Merced to Fresno, the food was incredible, even though they were very busy, they got us our food at at a reasonable time. The spicy mayo is amazing and the salad dressing is too. Customer service is great especially by Jerry the owner. Im leaving four stars in spite of my disappointing experience because, these guys really charmed me. Also, the problems I had are fixable. With that said, my food was very late. By the time it got to me, everyone else had already finished their food. I suspect the item that took so long was the tuna sashimi. Im unsure of whether it was from flash frozen, but it was quite cold, unusually so. The texture was oddly a bit grainy in a way, and the flavor was not quite what you really want in tuna, and I wondered if it was due to a small amount of freezer burn. I may be mistaken in this suspicion. The other issue with my tuna sashimi was that it wasnt cut quite correctly, resulting in some stringyness where you might hope for a more melt in your mouth texture. The roll I got was really yummy. It was cut like kimbap, not sushi, which was interesting and fun. Very yummy. I also got some yellowtail nigiri, which at the time of this review I havent eaten yet, as I had it boxed since my party was ready to go. I will also say that the others in my group LOVED what they got. And again, the people were very kind. A place with great potential.

This place is my all time favorite for ramen! Not only in the environment clean and pretty, but the staff is also attentive, kind, and provide excellent service. My wife and I took my parents out and also invited our siblings and their other halves. Jerry and his crew took great care of us. The servers were really professional and courteous. Jerry, the owner, personally greeted us and served us. The sushis tasted as delicious as it looked. Been here two times, service is great. Tonkotsu ramen is so freaking delicious here. Rolls Royce sushi roll is my favorite here, it’s so…good. Their teriyaki sauce & spicy mayo are also a little different from other sushi restaurants, it’s different kind of good. Will definitely keep going back.

This is truly a hidden gem. So many places have had to close, so we googled places open near us. We opted for Shobu was it was closest. We were warmly greeted by staff and the sushi did not disappoint. Owner, Jerry, has to be the sweetest person alive!! He came to our table and thanked us for choosing his restaurant. Been there twice. The first visit was average with a 3 friends, paid 300+ for barely average sushi... I thought I give it another try... The second time, bringing my family... OVER PRICED and not worth it!! Took forever for our food... The time from the first dish that came out to the time of the second and third was average 30 minutes apart... UNBELIEVABLE level of customer service, and the food quality is incredible. Obviously a business that understands the importance of customer engagement, so friendly and accomodating. My boyfriend took one bite of his fried rice and told me this place is going to be a staple of ours from here on out. Even though we got takeout, the food was still piping hot when we got it home, even the tempura. Such a variation in menu, theres definitely something for everyone. We had a great experience at Shobu and we will definitely be back! I would highly recommend eating there to anyone.Before we were seated the hostess let us know that there were three large parties ahead of us and that there might be a little wait. We were fine with the (short) wait and appreciated them letting us know!The food was great, we had the AvoBomb, Jerry Special roll and the Fresno roll. Been here 4 times so far since they opened, I love their sushi. So many varieties and all are delicious. This time I tried their ramen for the first time and it was amazing. Not able to dine in due to covid, but the food is really good. We told them we would wait in the parking lot and they brought it out to our car. Excellent service.The avocado bombs and stuffed crab mushrooms are a must in my opinion. They could be a meal by themselves.We ordered some fried rolls and tempura, Id advise eating them right away to enjoy them at their best. After sitting in the to go containers the moisture can make them a little soggy.California rolls are good for the price, and if you like fish eggs they definetly place a good amount on them. If you dont you can simply ask for them without.We also tried their beef bowls, those are really good too.

Best Japanese food Ive ever had in the states. The Chicken Katsudon Curry was so crispy and delicious. I highly recommend that and the fried rice appetizer, it was the best fried rice Ive ever had. The California roll and Champ roll were also very good. Would go again if Im around the area

My friend and I decided to try Shobu for sushi for lunch because of the good reviews. We should have paid more attention to the reviews that talked about the slow service. The first couple of items we ordered (edamame, sashimi plate, and a nigiri plate) were a little slow coming out, but not bad. Then we ordered two specialty rolls (spicy tuna roll and a dragon roll). About 20 minutes after that, we ordered one more specialty roll (crunch roll). When we ordered the crunch roll we asked about the first two rolls and the waitress told us the kitchen had accidentally burned them and they had to get remade (side note...how does a cold roll get burned?). It took almost 25 minutes to get the crunch roll and we still hadnt gotten the spicy tuna roll or dragon roll (almost 45 minutes after they were ordered!). Additionally, tables that had ordered after us got their food before we did. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience.

I think we found our new favorite. Our server ‘Charlie’ I hope I spelled her name correctly, was as gracious, friendly and respectful a young lady as we have ever had the pleasure of being served by, bare none. And Jerry, the owner was just as gracious. He visited our table twice while we’re there and exchange some pleasantries with us and made sure all was to our satisfaction. I loved the salmon sashimi and I think mackerel? sashimi. As others have said, food timing needs to improve but this happens in a brand new restaurant, takes time to bed everything in so I wouldnt take a star away from the place for that. The food is fantastic, we had two ramen bowls (huge portions) and a salmon skin sushi roll. I always order the salmon skin roll at any new restaurant that offers it because for a simple roll it can be so hard to get right. Usually its just a basic roll with some salmon skin (rarely crispy) and a stick of cucumber wrapped in sushi rice. This though, wow, perfectly cooked salmon skin with plenty of meat left on the skin paired perfectly with avocado on the inside and salmon sashimi and a spicy sauce on top of the sushi rice. Heaven. Finally a Japanese restaurant treating the salmon skin roll as it should be, a delicacy, not a cheap basic roll. The ramen bowls were both delicately flavored with vegetables and noodles the prefect tenderness. Cant wait to go back and try more.
