This place is the best fast food Japanese I’ve had in Oakland. I know is not a fast food joint but they’re great. Their udon was delicious. Calamari was good, a bit chewy. Veggie tempura roll was tasty. This is a great place to order delivery from. I highly recommend it.

Worst sushi ever. So disgusting I had to spit it out, throw it away and eat cereal instead. Ordered delivery and it took them over an hour and a half to make a few rolls. Super disappointing. Also they sent us the most disgusting looking spring rolls made with obviously very old oil. No thank you.

This place doesnt look like much and I definitely didnt expect it to be that great but it was actually very delicious. I got a sushi roll (forgot the name but it was spicy tuna and salmon) that was super tasty as well as the seafood udon. It was my first time having udon and I wasnt disappointed in the flavor. For the large chunks of salmon and fish they put in the soup Id say pricing was on point. They also brought out 2 eggrolls which the flavor was decent and the filling kinda soggy but the crunch on the outside definitely made up for it.

I was out walking my dog, and I got this craving for sushi. I had picked up delivery from here before doing Doordash, but never tried it myself. They were sort staffed so I did have to wait a bit. But it was 1000% worth the wait. I got the Lion Princess and the White Dragon. Both delicious. And the sauces on the side took it to another level.

Their food may be awesome, but the way I was treated was not acceptable at all. They have policy restrooms are only for the customers. That is certainly fair. I work for food delivery as a second job, I am your customer. I had to use the restroom really bad and they told me it will take another 15mins until the food is ready. So I asked if I could use the restroom, and he kept telling me no all though I am with a food delivery company. Never had this problem with any other restaurant. So I rejected the order. They did this to me before but it was during the pandemic. The first guy said no they did not have restrooms but I clearly see people dining in going to the restroom, the second guy said well no if do not have your vaccination, I pulled it out now can I go so they let me then but they just lied. Just awful. Well, they lost a potential customer because I do visit the restaurants that appeal to me that I pick food up from.

We were pretty disappointed with our meal here. There was loud pop from the early 2000s playing and the ambiance was not fabulous. And then our rolls came out, with ingredients not listed on the menu (apparently the Twin Ladies roll has jalapeños on top, in addition to two sauces, none of which appear on the menu). And when we told the server that we were surprised and wouldnt have ordered a roll with jalapeños or mayonnaise sauce on it, he told us that we should have said something when we ordered. Hmmm... who expects jalapeños to appear on their sushi roll when its not on the menu? Mayonnaise sauce I *almost* understand, since its common on sushi. But it should still be listed on the menu.And unfortunately, on top of that, the fish didnt taste great. It was passable, but not worth the price. Will not be going back.

This place is absolutely amazing. Their sushi is the freshest Ive ever had (over three major cities NYC, SF, LA). Everyone else caught on too during covid as their delivery wait times could be sometimes 2+ hours (only on friday nights)! Dont worry though, its worth the wait. Grab yourself a Snow White Roll + a Sunset Roll and thank me later.Dont think twice check out Shogun with the great staff, great food, and caring, welcoming vibes!

We were out late and one good thing about this place is that it is open late. I cant eat carbs so my choices were limited. Either some extremely expensive sashimi or a few appetizers. I tried the baked mussels $12 (four small mussels with carb questionable sauce on them) and Scallop and tuna tartar for $14. The one scallop was cut in half. The tuna tarter took up as much room on the plate as the scallop. Dont waste your money

A hidden gem in the Grand Lake district of Oakland. And one of the few restaurants in the area thats open til midnight. On my short list for a decent late night dinner.Its rather small and cozy, so you may want to order to go during peak times. And they do a brisk business through the delivery apps. But if you do get a table, the service is friendly and attentive. It feels like a family run business. In fact, it almost feels like you are eating in their living room.The menu is extensive and includes both grilled meats and sushi, as well as other traditional Japanese favorites. My only quibble is that they only use dark meat chicken instead of breast meat. So I ordered steak teriyaki in a bento combination that included salad, miso soup, vegetable tempura, and rice. It was plenty of food, all delicious, and reasonably priced at $25.Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy home cooked Japanese cuisine.

This is the BEST sushi in Oakland! (Dont debate me, debate with yo mama!) Ordered through DoorDash and I was NOT disappointed at all. I ordered the Red Dragon and 49ers rolls and both were DELICIOUS!! I was truly surprised when I received a complimentary sparkling pear juice and veggie spring rolls; both gave me so much LIFE! Everything was fresh and was made with so much care. I have found MY sushi spot here in Oakland!! I would highly recommend every item I mentioned in my review. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. I will GLADLY spend my coin here every week!! Thanks Shogun and see you soon!!

I ordered a Bento tonight from Uber Eats, and I gotta say it was absolutely perfect. Every component was well seasoned and hot. Not warm or room temp but Hot. The sweet and sour sauce had a delicate spicy note. I am super impressed and will eat here again soon. Thank You for being open during the pandemic, Im a Chef locally and really appreciate the effort.

1.) I had originally planned on going to another place but they closed early so I decided to try Shogun Sushi for the first time in my life(Been living in this neighborhood close to 40 years). Ever since I went to Japan and came back to try sushi places I had lost faith in alot of them due to a lack of freshness, etc. BUT TONIGHT, THESE PEOPLE CHANGED MY MIND, AND COOKED THIS FRESH TASTING MEAL WITH LOVE😍2.) FOOD: Ordered the veggie sushi and miso soup and it was fresh, flavorful and beautifully plated😁 I had an upset stomach when I got there and my stomach was healed and back in business by the time I started tasting this flavorful fresh food! Shot out to the cook! The miso soup instantly warmed my stomach lining, the veggie sushi was decadent, and I was back up and in business in no time!😋3.) THE SERVICE: The lady server was so kind to me and understood me when I explained that I did not have enough to tip(meal was right on with what I had and worth every penny). Instead of being cold, she was compassionate towards me and now I cant wait to go back and tip and get more food! The service at this restaurant was 5 star and that is just something I dont see alot even in this neighborhood. They were happy to be at work, and treated me as though I was a special customer even though it was my first time coming in for takeout. I am so impressed!! Shot out to the lady server who took my order. Thank you for your genuine kindness😍🙏🏿4). OVERALL: The food actually gave me happy feelings after eating it which is what told me the chef cooked with love. I will be going back immediately as soon as I get more cash and I will be buying and trying more dishes. Not sure how I couldve missed this place before🤔 But I sure am glad the Lord allowed the other place to close early and sent me to Shogun tonight. What a blessing😁🙏🏿5.) ATMOSPHERE: I want to add that I liked the fact that everyone was wearing a mask, I cant tell you the restaurants I have seen these days with masks around their chin, these folks had mask standards, friendliness standards, fresh food standards, and Im 100% here for that!😁 Also, though they had a handful of doordash orders, my meal came out in exactly the amount of time she said it would be(she said 6 minutes, and thats all it took for mine)😁6.) FUN FACT: If anyone has ever seen a movie called The Last Dragon theres a character named Shogun. Is this food the tastiest, Shonuff!

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Ordered 49ers Roll, Lion King Roll, and Gyozas. They gave us 2 spring rolls + a pear sparkling drink. The sauce they gave for the gyozas and spring rolls was so delicious, it was sweet and also spicy at the same time.The rolls were very filling and when I tell you I have never tasted a Lion King roll like the one they made...wow! It was soooo delicious. The flavors were incredible and you could really taste all of the flavors that are in the roll. The 49ers Roll was just as amazing.The spring rolls were super delicious. The gyozas (which we got many pieces than what I had imagined we’d get) were really great as well.I typically go to another sushi spot close by and this is worth the extra money they charge.In terms of service, a really nice server provided us our food and she was wearing a mask which is awesome to see.

We walked in here just out of curiosity.. I am super happy I did.We got there before the dinner rush it appears as it got busy shortly after we choose our seats.Staff was very nice and friendly.Food service was relatively quick.Ramen - very good and flavorful.Chicken Katsu - crispy, delicious.Salad that came with Chicken katsu - delicious with the dressing!!!Salmon without teriyaki sause (my son has food allergies). Great and well done!Price is good because portion matches the price IMO. But I loved the food I had and will come back often.

I am glad we went here. The reviews are either good or bad. No real in between. We found it very tasty from the Japanese fish they had on special to the tempura which was some of the best I have had in awhile. The reatuarant was deserted on a Saturday night and really shouldnt have been. Its a good meal so please try this.

Came here on a Sunday night around 9:30. The place was not super busy but had a couple of customers dining. First time here and tried it out because it was open til midnight.The boyfriend and I ordered hot sake, scallops and tuna tartar, and three different rolls of sushi. We were also given free vegetarian egg rolls while we dined. We enjoyed the three different rolls of sushi. They were not too big, where you couldnt eat it but not too small either where you feel like, Im paying how much for this little piece? It wasnt bombarded with sauces and it wasnt bland either. I approve and will come back for the variety of rolls offerred.The four was because I was disappointed with how late the tartar arrived. The tartar is an appetizer and was the last item to come out. It was a piece of scallop inside a wine glass and a piece of tuna drizzled in sauce. Presentation was beautiful but definitely not worth the $12.What I do enjoy about Shogun is their presentation of their rolls. Each roll was presentated beautifully with an orchid alongside the rolls. The first time for me and Ive been to numerous sushi restaurants. It made me feel like I was at a high end restaurant.Service was good. Didnt feel like my waitress was bothering me constantly but she wasnt slow either.Definitely will be coming back whether for dinner or late night sushi.

The servants in this restaurant r so rude and racist, we just saw one guy showed up after he made a reservation for a table online but they never had his table ready when he showed up and he had to leave the restaurant and they never asked him apology,Our order just arrived and it wasnt a good test we didnt even finish it.I would recommend everyone not to choose this restaurant if u r looking for a pleasure on a weekend or any other day with friends to be!!!

The first word that comes to my head when I think of shogun is eh. I was really excited for the sushi wheel, but since I came an hour before closing there were only slim pickings left. I ordered a salmon bowl and was pretty disappointed. The salmon was definitely not sushi grade, and it was pretty dried out. The service is wonderful though. They were very attentive. Mijori down the street is much better.

Horrible customer service. They brought out half of our partys food and then made food for another party. The rest of our party didnt get their food for another 25 minutes. Not to mention I left a $2 tip because service was terrible but they charged me a $7 tip. So not only was the service awful, they stole from me as well.

This is the best sushi restaurant I have ever eaten at. the fish was fresh, flavorful and delicious, and the rice was good and well flavored. Im definitely coming back. the service was very friendly. I recommend to all my friends. well done!!
