This was the very first place I tried Sushi many years back. Since then I have experienced many sushi restaurants around California and this place still has me coming back monthly if not weekly! Great staff, great Sushi, and best of all great prices 😁.

I really enjoy this sushi place, I have it at least once per week. I always order takeout because dine in could take a while depending on how full it is. The staff to client ratio may not be the best. What I have sampled so far is delicious! Staff is always professional and though people comment on rude staff I have never experienced it. Plenty of parking too.
I am a sushi fan and this place has never disappointed me or my family. this place is a regular for us. You need to try it if you never been here before. Prices are fair and the fish is always fresh. The owner has always treated us well and always very kind to all of us. A must try.
Worst sushi ever. Had the spicy tuna, very basic and very hard to mess up. They managed to mess it up. The rice was dry, hard and nasty. The rolls had hardly tuna in them and one roll was just rice with a few cucmber shavings & it was such a disappointment for myself and my friend. It’s really sad how horrible they treat their customers, no wonder it was empty when I walked in during peak lunch hour! The server Stewart is nice but the lady who works here is a total nightmare, she has no customer service skills and goes out of her way to make customers feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I brought a friend who had never been there before she commented on how odd the behavior was of the woman who works there.
This place is 10/10 whenever we arent too busy we are here. Been coming here for over 10 years. Fish quality is fantastic, the service is amazing. They make you feel like family. As long as their doors are open Ill be shoveling fish into my face here! Gemma you are the best! Sorry we always come in last! Lol

Not a terrible 🍣 sushi place. Very reasonable prices. Personally do not think they had anything special to leave me blown away with warranting 5 🌟s and with everything else seeming to be just average to me from interior decor and menus as well as the sushi rolls themselves left me feeling 4 🌟s werent warranted. Thus the 3 🌟 rating I feel does Shogun Sushi justice. Just your everyday average sushi spot.
Wow we had a great time here! Food was amazing looking and tasting! Service was very pleasant. Ambiance is very nice, cozy, and even a little romantic. Great convenient location, just easy to miss because its small.Everything we had was fresh and flavorful, no complaints at all. This was my first experience with sushi & sashimi. I have since been to many other similar places and i woild still say this is the best & my favorite. Definitely recommend.

I tend to stray away from leaving negative reviews for small restaurants, unless I felt it was truly deserved, especially since my family owns a small restaurant. But, this was probably the worst experience Ive ever had with a restaurant in my entire life, and thats saying something.My party placed a to-go order totaling $63. We had two orders of BBQ beef ribs in our order and upon returning home, we discovered that one of the orders hardly had any edible beef in it. Half of the pieces in it were basically just bone and slivers of fat. My friend called to let the restaurant know and the woman who spoke to him, who I assume was the manager, was hostile, combative, and unwilling to listen to anything he was saying from the get-go. She constantly interrupted him and spoke over him while he was trying to explain the situation and explain that he has ordered the ribs multiple times before and that this has never been an issue before. Even the other order of ribs we had was perfectly fine.He didnt call with the intent to ask for a refund, he initially just called to give the restaurant a heads up, so that they could avoid this situation in the future. But, the woman immediately accused us of trying to rip them off (her exact words) and implied that we were accusing their chef of trying to cheat us. Again, at this point, he hadnt even asked for a refund, so how could we be trying to rip them off? He also never said or implied anything about their chef. It was only upon hearing the womans accusations and hostility that we decided to ask for a refund for the single order of ribs. The woman immediately cut us off and declared that she would not be fully refunding the entire order and that it would be ridiculous to do so. No one even mentioned anything about a full refund for the entire order, and she wouldve known that had she bothered to listen to a single thing we were saying instead of constantly speaking over us and arguing with us. We were asking for a refund for the single order of ribs that had the issue, not the entire order. If we were trying to rip them off, wouldnt we be asking for the full order to be refunded instead of just the one item? We couldve even claimed that both orders of the ribs had issues, but we didnt. Weve never once had a complaint in all the times weve been to this restaurant, and weve been here quite a few times over the years, so if we were trying to rip them off, wouldnt we have tried to do that before?The woman declared that she would not be giving any refund because we received all the items we ordered, as if that is the only aspect that matters. Quality is also a major factor in whether an order was satisfactory, not just whether the items were received. Would you pay for an item that was only half edible?I was appalled by the manner in which the woman conducted herself and called the restaurant again to ask for her name. She then rudely responded to me Why would I give you my name? I repeatedly asked for her name, and she began to mimic me in a mocking tone. She also told us to never call back. Umm, Ill call you as many times as I want when it involves MY money. Her name was either Gemma, the name on our receipt, or Eun, the woman who seems to be replying to the reviews here. Judging by the way shes been arguing with people in the Yelp and Google reviews, it was probably Eun.After much back and forth, she finally agreed to refund the item. Well, turns out that was a lie, because she never did.Customer service can make or break a restaurant. As I mentioned, my family owns a small restaurant so I know a thing or two about how to run one. I would have never spoken to a customer the way she spoke to us, but hey, I guess theres a reason they have 2.5 stars on Yelp and we have 4.5
Shogun sushi is one of the longest running sushi places in the valley! They have a roll called Th e bake scallop California roll! It is an absolute money roll and next time you go please try it!! The owner is super nice and the service is good too!! If your looking forward to very affordable sushi this is the place dude!

Shogun sushi used to be my go place to eat. My wife and I used to frequent the place for a few years. We hadn’t gone in about a year and came back and the experience was not good.The rolls were made sloppy and didn’t hold together, and I mean sloppy very amateur. The texture of the fish was not frozen but was like if it had been thawed out way too fast. Even the ginger tasted funny, too salty.It’s sad to write this because I like the staff there. I write in hopes that they pull it together.
The food is moderately priced w/ excellent service. I rolled through here last weekend + had a blast! It has a very cozy vibe & I made it in time, because there was a crowd that slammed the establishment.I was there for about an hour and it started off with a few patrons but by the time I paid the bill and headed for the exit there was people waiting to be seated. Oh yeah, this was on a Sunday afternoon lol!
Love the sushi. Its amazing. We always end up taking some back to work for our coworkers. Why Im giving a 3star rating is because of a lady who works there with straight bangs. She made commentary about how we dont need to order so much sushi. Now I dont think its any of her business to be saying such remarks. Are you not making money off me? Then shut your mouth. Besides waiting forever for them to notice that we walked in, let alone take our order, the sushi is always great unlike their service.

This is the last time I eat here. Several parties came in after us received their food before we did. Waited over an hour and a half to get my food. Waiter could not explain why it took so long neither could the manager on duty. No apologies, no discount. The only answer I got is the kitchen did not follow the sequence of orders. Clearly they misplaced my order or forgot to place my order. Our waiter only checked up on us twice before I compliant to the manager (after an hour of waiting). I understand you get lunch and or dinner rushes but at least have the courtesy to let your customers know whats going on.
Looking for a place for cheap sushi and where you wont feel bad about not tipping? Youve come to the right place. Dont expect exceptional service but you are guaranteed a good meal at a good price. Been going here since high school and they really havent inflated their prices so Im glad they stuck around.

I trustingly sat in my friends car as he drove us around the valley in search of food to eat at 10:30pm on a Friday night. A valley boy through and through, he drove us to Shogun Sushi and it looked fine to me until I checked in on Yelp and saw the 2.5 stars??!! Holy crap, how can any sushi restaurant have 2.5 stars and not be giving people food poisoning?? (that was my first thought) But my valley boy friend assured us the low ratings were due to service.We were seated in a booth behind a large group of rowdy guys but they didnt linger too long. Our food came out promptly, given it was late at night so I have no complaints about the service. I ordered brown rice sushi - spicy tuna, baked scallop and the superman burrito. The superman burrito was very good! The rice on the spicy tuna roll was cold and mushy and the baked scallop roll was a surprising delight.All in all, Shogun Sushi isn;t so bad - but I probably wont be coming back here, the valley has SO many other sushi places!

If this place werent such a great value Id give it less stars. Great prices but the sushi wasnt much better than your average mall food court sushi. The rolls have far too much rice and its not cooked or seasoned well, or at least not to my liking. Service was terribly slow but it was Sunday night so maybe weekdays might be best.
Suishi was bad. Had two rolls and tasted funny. Told waitress and she brought two more. Should have given a discount since after eating I was sick later that day. Paid full price. Will never go back to a place that serves bad food. Health dept needs to be called.

The sushis decent. I wish they had a proper menu with pictures/full descriptions rather than requiring guests to look at handwritten offerings on the wall. The place always seems to be busy but getting a seat doesnt take that long.
Ive been here a few times in the past many years as it was a favored location by friends (never mine personally). The visit that really put me off was my visit on Sunday, April 9th 2017 at around 6 or 7PM or so - evening time. I was meeting up with friends and I got there about 10 min late and my friends were there already and sat down. We were only given the paper slip for marking down sushi but I wanted the full menu so I asked for it. Didnt get it right away, probably waited about 5 minutes. Took another 5 minutes for a waiter to come and take our order, actually it was one of the owners that took our order. So at this point, It took 10 min for me, 20 min for my friends to finally get an order in. I will pause here and say Im still okay at this point in waiting since it was probably peak or close to peak time so the restaurant was busy. Judging from how the restaurant was being run, it looked like 2 of the waiters were new, still trying to get a hold of things, one who is a seasoned waiter and it seemed the owner was trying to help out as well. I know how restaurants work and I have patience.That said, while we waited for our food, my friends and I chatted and waited patiently. It wasnt until I realized that a group of people who were sat in a booth after we were sat got their foods first and even finished their meal and another group sat in that booth and yet, our food was no where to be seen. We wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but after a 40 minute wait and not even a soup being served, i grabbed the veteran waiter (who was waiting our table) and inquired politely whats going on with our food and that we have waited for over 40 minutes. Im sure the waiter thought we were exaggerating. Ive seen (and I bet you have too) people who wait 5 minutes and say they have been waiting for half an hour.. but he came back, acknowledged that we have indeed been waiting that long as it was time stamped and basically gave us the excuse that they were short handed therefore our food was not started yet. Thankfully, my friends were also very understanding and patient so we waited further, where at this point, most people would storm out. I was another 10 min until our food finally started to arrive. So we ate, and paid, no tip of course, and before we left, we asked again, this time the owner, why it took so long. My friends and I dont like to jump to conclusions and were hoping for a valid reason behind the massive delay. The response we got was outrageous and unbelievable. The owner said, from her mouth, that because her friends came to visit the restaurant, she allowed speedy service to them... which in return forgot our orders. She is totally playing favoritism and she admitted it to a customer. Never have I seen or heard that before but it was pretty appalling.A week later, another friend wanted to grab something small and quick and had picked this location so I met up with her and I just had water and 2 orders of sushi. That took about 25 minutes from the point of me ordering to me getting my food. Now at this point, I have re-affirmed my opinion about this place. I was also told by my friend that he too went again a few weeks later and although my friend got a decent service this time, waiting about 10 min or so for his food, the friends he was with didnt get theirs for a while and they were apparently pissed.That said, even if I got an apology from the owner and they offered a free meal, I wouldnt go because that would mean the owner is now favoring me which means there could be someone else who falls victim to waiting.Im not blaming the chefs. Im not blaming the servers (since some seemed new - if they arent new, this place has terrible training). I do blame the veteran server a little since if you are a veteran, you should be able to see whats going on throughout the restaurant and know when tables are not getting attention. The whole restaurant isnt that big. But mostly I blame the owner(s) who have no freakin idea how to run a restaurant and or is too incompetent.

My bestied and I have come to Shogun for over 16 years. Its delicious and consistent food. The price is right, you will order too much! 😆 Id come from Lancaster for the sushi!!! Its that good!
Service (not including sushi chefs, they are ok) sucks but they do a few things they do really well. If you like BSC or crawfish over California Roll this is your place. They also give thick cuts of fish and have a really good Ponzu that has a bit of a sake kick to it.
I wish there was a zero star rating... Stay away!!! While the prices are relatively cheap when it comes to sushi, I would rather pay the $5-$10 extra to go somewhere cleaner and safer for my health. First off, I would like to point out the bug zapper IN the food prep area. Imagine when a fly gets zapped and it explodes and all of that bacteria gets into your RAW fish. Oh by the way, little baby flys kept on flying into my food while I was eating. They were also perched on the walls. Secondly, ther service was terrible. Our waitress was rude and thought it was a privilege to eat there or something. The other waitress that was there was great though however overloaded. And lastly, when they served the oysters, they were WARM. This is the second time our family has ordered oysters from this place and weve had to send them back. Im surprised they havent killed anyone yet and Im also surprised they are still in business. The only plus was that the Ono actually tasted pretty good. But just... Just stay away...

Me and my wife usually do Kabukis or California Bowl teriyaki grill. Base on the somewhat mixed reviews here, I assumed the sushi at this place, at worst would be similar to Ralphs store bought sushi, but boy was I wrong! Firstly walking in we noticed the the chair and table legs wasnt as clean from what were used to. However I didnt let that detour me and we proceeded to sit down and order. We ordered the Blk California rolls, monkey brain, Philadelphia rolls, and couple more I forgot the names to. The mobkey brain was jyst ok, but the other rolls was horrible because the rice was mushy as if it was cooked with too much water. The sushi was very bland as well. The ginger and wasabi also appeared to be of low quality. I dont usually take time out of my day to rate a restaurant, but my experience with this place was such, that I felt the need to share! Either I went on a bad day or this place sushi is just outright horrible. This was a first where I actually left some sushi on my plate because I just didnt want it, and some of it I did take with me, however I will not eat it because it was just that bad. Ill never eat here again.

Used to come here years ago. The wife and I stopped in for lunch. Got the BLCR. Make a long story short, both ended up throwing up. Never again. We ended up leaving, cancelled the rest of our orders

Order my food from postmates, staff at shogun gave my order to someone who wasnt a post mates delivery driver and made me pay for it. The restaurant did not in anyway try to assist me and only said some one else took my food. I played 60 for sushi to have someone else just take it with out checking the driver. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.

2019-02-27 01:07:27Loved the food. Staff is very nice. Prices are reasonable, see pics of menu. Lunch specials. Plenty of parking. Low key little place. In a strip mall so it can be missed and passed by when driving down the street. Good for groups. Long counter if you want to sit at the sushi bar. Fun to watch tv and eat sushi.

2017-12-09 23:49:38Amazing place!!! The food was incredible and the price even more so! At any other quality sushi restaurant, the price would have been more than double what I had to pay!! Additionally, the staff were all very friendly and while the place was a little small, it was very cozy and busy without being crowded. They had a great selection of specialty rolls too! For my review, A++, would totally go again!

2020-11-23 02:27:14A good place to get some sushi if youre in Northridge area. I been to this sushi before like 4 years ago with a buddy before covid. We had a okay experience here beside the service being slow when we dine there. This time, my girlfriend was craving sushi and we ordered food next door so I decided to try this place again. I place my order through Yelp for some CA rolls and Spicy Tuna rolls. Yelp told me it would be done in like 50 minutes so I called the restaurant just to make sure when it would be ready. I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes so Yelp estimate was way wrong. When we arrived to the place, there was plenty of parking (due to covid) Indoor is closed here so you just go pick up your food at the front door. I wish they give more spicy mayo but I guess you can always ask if you want more. I thought their CA rolls and Spicy Tuna rolls were okay but its not the best. There hand sanitizer at the counter since youll have to sign the receipt.

You will leave the place with a positive note on your mind always. Been coming here for years and will always come back.

2023-02-14 18:46:55My husband and I come here almost every weekend for our date nights or we order for pick up. The friendliness of the staff has greatly improved over the last few years and now always comes and asks how our food is and if we need more drinks. Previously that was not the case. Now the servers even recognize us as regulars. Thank you for being a great place in our neighborhood.
