Enjoyed a very interesting tour of the North Point Neighborhood and the scrumptious Italian food that is offered. PRO TIP: DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO GET SPUD AS YOUR TOUR GUIDE. He was a fountain of local history that filled our minds while the family-run restaurants filled our stomachs.

We had an amazing time discovering the Mission. Who would have known. Our awesome Tour Guide, Spud is a local to the area and travel writer. His unique perspective and stories enhanced the experience. The stops had unique qualities and I tried new dishes. It was an easy walking tour, weather was perfect, it was safe, and the other guests were a blast. Highly recommend for local or visitor!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My friend bought tickets for the Mission District Food tour for a birthday gift for me. What a treat! Spud was a great guide...fun, knowledgeable, engaging. The stops were full of unique deliciousness and always ready for us. A plus were all the beautiful murals along the way! It was a very fun experience!! Highly recommend!

Just did the Mission district food tour with Michael. It was fantastic. The food was great, and plentiful. Michael was a wonderful guide. Knowledgeable, interesting and fun. Most times the guide makes or breaks the tour, Michael definitely made it! I would not hesitate to book another tour with Sidewalk.

I booked a private tour in San Francisco’s Mission district for a friend trip because the public tours didn’t work for our schedule. Sidewalk Tours made booking very flexible and easy. The tour guide, Jinny, was great and gave us further recommendations for food in San Fran. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again in any city. Definitely worth the money!

We had such a wonderful time in Chinatown with our food tour guide Jinny P. Jinny obviously loves the people, food, culture and history of Chinatown and that translated into a delicious immersive experience for our group. The food was great...something for everyone. Jinny also made sure to accommodate any in our group with dietary restrictions. The history of Chinatown was fascinating. Loved that Jinny pointed out some of the murals and street artists works as we traversed the roads and alleys. We were fortunate to be there during a classic car show so that was a cool extra. Highly, highly recommend this tour!

Spud was an amazing tour guide! We booked a group tour but it became a privat tour which was a lovely surprise. You notice immediately that Spud knows a lot about the city and it’s history. He made the tour very personal which was great. We had a blast!

I have lived in SF for 20 years, and received this tour as a gift. I took my 20-year-old son while he was home from college. We both had a fantastic time. Our Guide, Spud, shared so many fun SF facts and history with us and my son started sharing them with the rest of our family as soon as we got home. He took us to family owned businesses and restaurants that I had never even noticed. I cannot wait to ho back to them on my own.

One of the best food tours I’ve taken. We had a private tour for our work team with 10 people. Luci was really friendly and super knowledge of SF history. The food was not the only highlight, we walked the Mission district murals and Lucy had stories for everything we saw. The 5 stops were top choices and well known-Craftsman & Wolves, taqueria Cancun, Venga and the best for last Tartine Bakery. Can’t recommend this tour enough.

My second private tour for a small corp group with Spud in North Beach and would highly recommend! Lots of food, lots of great stories, and just enough walking to keep the appetite going but not feel overwhelmed by walking by any means. If you have a small group thats new to the city or even lives here, its really great either way. I live in the city and am so excited to visit the spot we hit now that Ive learned so much more about them and their food! My siblings and I took our mom to San Francisco for a birthday celebration. I booked this tour based on a recommendation from friends who had recently went and it did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Lauren, was amazing and made the whole experience memorable. The tour was full of delicious food (no one went hungry!!) and 4-6 separate dining locations, plus a handful of historical/educational locations. It was a really cool way to learn about the history of and and current day Chinatown. The walk wasnt too bad considering the hills SF is known for...our whole group managed just fine and Lauren was great about speed and breaks. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

We went on a food tour for a friends Birthday in Little Italy in SF, it was mostly our group of friends that signed up. Being a native of SF, Ive never been on a sidewalk food tour before, nor had our group of friends, this was definitely a great experience.Scott was our tour guide, and he was very knowledgeable from the history of San Francisco, to the suggestions for food/ice cream. We walked to different areas in Little Italy, and learned about the foods we sampled, and talked to the owners of the restaurants. It was very interesting learning about all of the food and history.Having learned so much about the area we had on our tour and how much fun our group was having, I would definitely try another tour from a different area with Sidewalk Food Tours of SF.If you get Scott, youre lucky because he was a great tour guide, and fun to be around.

Chinatown food tour started at ten am. Lasted till 3 pm. Lauren had great energy about Chinatown. She even offered vegan for my husband! Visited very good food choices as well as great information from Lauren out tour guide. She was fun yet very informative on the history of Chinatown. Very large portions! Make sure you go to the tea tasting at the end of the tour. It’s worth it. You would be making a mistake by not taking this tour with Lauren!

This was a fantastic tour through Chinatown that combined culture and history with a few stops to taste some specialty foods from local stops. Lauren was our tour guide and she was knowledgeable, personable, and easy to understand. She also catered to dietary needs, such as the vegetarians in our group, making sure everyone had choices. This was our second experience with Sidewalk Food Tours. Both have been excellent. Our tour guide for todays tour in the Mission District was Scott and he was super. My reason for only giving it four stars was that we werent that impressed with the food at two of the stops. There was also a glitch with one of the restaurants on the tour, which was NOT Scotts fault. But it did slow things down. We would have liked a bit more time and explanation of some of the murals but the glitch took up some of the time that might have ordinarily been given to that. But I still like this business and highly recommend it.

My sisters and I visited San Francisco for 4 days and took the Sidewalk Food Tour of Chinatown and loved it! Our guide Lauren was terrific - including her very hip blond and black hair! She was delightful, entertaining, extremely knowledgable and very concerned with making us all happy! She even added a couple of extra stops since no one had to leave at 1 when the tour was supposed to end. We loved the last extra stop at a free tea tasting and each bought some loose tea from the owner! We also sampled some delicious Chinatown offerings and left fat and happy! Would highly recommend the tour to friends visiting San Francisco!

Casey gave us some history of the Mission District, took us to some great places to eat, talked a little bit about the architecture of the houses in the Mission...it was informative and delicious. Took a walking tour of the Mission yesterday with my two teenagers. Lauren was warm, professional, full of information, and very passionate. The tour was well organized and well planned. I have been on many food tours even had taken the SF Mission tour from another SF company. Our guide Frank is in the wrong line of business. He is soft spoken had limited interactions with his guest. One of the great aspects of these tours is to learn about the area which makes you want to look around after tour. The Mission area is famous for the beautiful murals throughout the neighborhood. We walked to one alley Frank told us that we could not visit because Sidewalk Tours of SF have not paid the artist. I dont think this is a true statement since the murals are done to beautify the area, this a SF alley. The food selectons we received were cold, he provided half of a muffins with a soft boiled egg (good), a slice of pizza but did not bring napkins with samples. He walked in front of the group and at one intersection the light changed, we had to whistle/yell at him to wait for the other half of the tour. Having a good guide makes the tour. So sad that we wasted our $$ with this company.

Frank was our guide for the Mission District tour. My 72 year old mother suggested. I had low expectations. Frank crushes it. The sunny day helped too. You should be open to some neighborhood history too. Maybe my teenagers would be okay with the portions where the neighborhood is explored and discussed. Our group of 6 had Baby Boomers, Gen X and Millenials. We all enjoyed. Frank made it awesome.

Took the Mission Food tour with my wife on Friday (9-29-17) with Brian as our guide. We were not originally scheduled to go with Sidewalk Food Tours, but the other company we booked cancelled on us. We found Sidewalk at the last minute and man we got lucky. Brian was excellent - super knowledgeable about the Mission, very funny and engaging and knew his food. The food choices were also excellent. Highly recommend this tour and company.

This was a fabulous experience! Our Guide Joseph, was extremely knowledgeable about not only the food but also San Francisco .We got to see many areas of the mission district and learned so much. He was so warm and friendly and efficient! Over all just delightful and I highly recommend this tour to others. P.S. The portions of food at each stop were large and we never felt rushed.

I happen to be in the area when I walked upon Lauren guiding a tour of people through Chinatowns packed neighborhood on a fine Sunday evening when I decided to tag along, uninvited, on the spot. I really appreciated how knowledgeable and fluent Lauren was about the food, the culture, the legacy, and the destinations we were to head to in advance and making sure everyones accommodations were met including mine. Lauren is a wonderful person and I recommend to anyone looking to have a nice tour of Chinatown and in good hands to reach out for Lauren and get your moneys worth of a quality experience worth remembering. Okay Im new to SF and I was a little skeptical at first- cant I just go eat around the city until I discover all the best spots? But that would take forever and cost a lot- Im so glad I took a food tour!I took the North Beach tour- I learned way more than I thought I would about this amazing city and the food was INCREDIBLE!! Three words: homemade. pesto. gnocchi. Wow and there was such a great range in everything we ate. Seriously do yourself a favor and take this tour. Really enjoyed the North Beach walking food tour!! Delicious samples of a variety of food including: Italian deli sandwich from Molinari Deli, meatballs, panella, and gnocchi with pesto sauce from Original U.S., garlic clams pizza from Golden Boy Pizza, Bolivian vegan fare of potato, plantain, and kale chips from Pena Pachamama, and dessert of chocolate truffles from XOX Truffles, and gelato from Lush Gelato. Would definitely go back to eat at all these places.Nick was a wonderful tour guide, friendly, courteous, and patient, who told us interesting history of the area and the restaurants, and willingly answered any question. We visited a very special little chapel, a replica of the Porziuncola at the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi, not part of the tour and not normally open, but happened to be open at the time we were there. The Bolivian restaurant was really nice as the owner told us about the history of the restaurant and even played some music for us. We also stopped at an interesting alley near City Lights Bookstore, where Nick told us about the bookstore, the alley, and brought us to look at a unique arial mobile and a wall mural at Broadway and Columbus, and told other interesting tidbits.I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves food and wants to learn more about the city, regardless if local resident or out-of-towner. The walk was mostly on flat ground and no more than a mile. My friend and I took BART to the city, got off at Montgomery St. Station and took a S.F. Muni bus #8 that dropped us off near the North Beach meeting location in front of Cafe Trieste. The 30 Stockton bus will also get you close. The walk from BART to the meeting location is less than a mile, but we decided to save our energy by not walking since it was a hot San Francisco day!!

GREAT JOB by Dean from Sidewalk Food Tours of San Francisco! I took the Chinatown tour and had a fabulous time. Our tour guide Dean was knowledgeable, engaging and funny. It was clear to see he enjoys his job and takes pride in knowing and learning about Chinatown. Group sizes are limited to 12, perfect for navigating busy Chinatown and keeping the experience intimate.The food selections were all delicious. Dean gave us a 30 minute introduction presentation to Chinatown, and then we made our first stop for a delicious pork bun. It was freshly baked and still warm. We walked and talked to the next stop for Tan Tan Noodles. Homemade noodles with a spicy (but not too spicy) peanut sauce. The sauce is served on the side so you choose your level of heat. No visit to Chinatown is complete without Dim Sum, which we had at our third stop. We enjoyed Shrimp Dim Sum and a Mincemeat Turnover. It was so delicious I actually forgot to take a picture to share on Facebook before devouring it. The restaurant owner really likes Dean and showed her appreciation by giving us some freebies that included a Chinese doughnut. Made-to-order Chicken Pot stickers were enjoyed at the fourth stop. Then we moved into the dessert part of the tour. First we stopped by a longstanding fortune cookie shop to see how they are made and try a few samples. My favorite part of the tour was the next to last stop for Egg Custard Tart. The crust was flakey and delicious. The last stop was a tea tasting. The owner shared her knowledge of the different kinds of teas and herbal drinks and their benefits. Dean stopped and discussed points of interests in between the food stops, but I really enjoyed the food and choose to share that aspect of the tour. By the way, there were two vegetarians on our tour and Dean made sure they had unique Chinatown food to enjoy as well.Book your tour today!

North Beach Food Tour was a huge disappointment. Met at Caffe Trieste and guide checked us in. We were waiting in front petting a dog and the guide left without us! The dog’s owner told us our tour left. We couldn’t believe it. Had to run to catch up. Guide didn’t know many details of places along the way. Spent too much time in Pena PachaMama listening to some woman tell us the story of her life. Must’ve spent a half hour there. Tour not worth the money. Especially I did not appreciate getting an email and then a phone call asking me to change my 1 star rating for future tour discounts. Makes me think that not every review is sincere.

The company is trying to cover up an allergic reaction, ending up in a hospital visit. I wrote no pistachios on my reservation, and was asked before going on the tour. At Pena Panchamama I ate something with a nut cheese and after leaving the hospital I called and was confirmed that there were pistachios in the cheese. After calling management they investigated and later they tell me there were not pistachios, and the owner then said the same, saying it was something else. No doubt they covered up the incident, and did nothing to make sure I was okay. Completely ruined a day in the city, would not recommend supporting the company in any city.
