We were pleasantly surprised by the Sierra Sky Ranch. We were expecting a regular hotel, but this boutique resort was great. It was small, friendly, not crowded or noisy. The atmosphere was rustic. The location was incredibly convenient to Yosemite. The only way to have been closer with our group of 12 was to have stayed in the Park itself.
The location was great. It was quiet and peaceful. A good view in the morning. Staff were friendly but it was obvious they were short staffed. Both check in and check out times, no one was in the registration area. You need to call the hotel phone to get their attention. Breakfast was mostly packed food. Overall, there is still room for improvement.
Sheets and mattress pad were rumpled leading us to believe the sheets were not changed. Staff assured me they were which means their maid service are very sloppy and dont care about first impressions.The grounds are beautiful. Bed comfy and bathroom was large.
I preface this by saying this place is not my usual speed but it was the closest in proximity to a Yosemite wedding I attended. That said, I give it credit given what it is. Their customer service is super friendly and people greet you with a genuine smile from front desk to cleaning staff. The accommodations are rustic down to the wooden floors and porches across the entire building, and while there arent a bunch of frills, the property itself is nice. You do get a pool and at night all the string lights really give you the wilderness/ranch feel that they intended. Do be aware that if youre a light sleeper you will hear movement all over starting early in the morning because of the floors and how sound travels with folks waking up to get out in nature.
The grounds were lovely and the location was close to Bass Lake and Oakhurst. The staff were friendly but the rooms were extremely small. The sunroom was good for reading but it would be nice to have a card table table in addition to the low coffee table. The breakfast could be a lot better. Owners should visit other properties of similar level to experience the difference.
Hotel is nice. Clean. Comfy beds. Great staff No closets tho. Rough if you’re there for a wedding. Also breakfast is weak. Almost insulting for what you pay to stay here. Jimmy dean sausages in paper! Really? Still better than staying on the strip in town. Ugh.
Loved the peaceful, quiet, country rustic feel yet close to town and modern amenities. Great place to unplug and relax. It was wonderful to walk through the rooms french doors onto the deck with tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the birds, deer, and nature!! Will definitely go back when in the area again.
Lovely setting in a good location for Yosemite. Rooms are spacious and clean. Additionally there are communal lounge areas that can be used with games etc. Have stayed here previously 3 years ago and chose to stay again.
The location was nice, but the room was really small. No closet for clothes, only hooks on the wall. No table or chairs - nowhere to sit in room except on the beds. One luggage rack and nowhere to put second piece of luggage. Also, we reserved a king room and we were given a room with two beds. One plus was that the bedslocat were very comfortable.
Checked in around 4pm. AC not at optimal working condition until it stopped working. I waited for the room to cool down because we arrived on a very hot day. I was thinking it may take some time, wasted my time for nothing should have been resting well/longer since we arrived early. We were transferred to a room with working AC late night. The attendant should have placed us in a room with a working AC in the first place. There were not much people checked-in-which I based on the cars parked outside. I was even told to open the window. A big NO. I booked this hotel because it was advertised that they have AC.
We really liked our stay. The overall atmosphere was really cozy and homey. We loved the 24h coffee bar and the shower was a highlight. If we are ever in the area, we will come again.
Sierra sky ranch is absolutely the best! The people who work there are amazing they helped us every step of our trip. It was my husbands birthday so they let us bring a cake and kept it in the fridge for us. They help us find tours for Yosemite and told us great restaurants to go to. Also the balcony next to your room is so great beautiful view. The pool is shaded too so its so nice in the summer. They really took care of us completely. Oh an the stars at night 🌛 are just the best Ive ever seen in my life.
We had a VERY disappointing stay at the Sierra Sky Ranch Hotel.The walls were thin and it was noisy, we were across from the ice machine which got continuous use from 6am on (probably for the breakfast set up), the shower head shot absolute daggers at you, the shower floor was rough, the TV was old, smaller than in the website, and had a distorted picture, the restaurant and tavern were closed, despite the photos in the website, it was DARK and drab in the common rooms- overall felt run down, not AT ALL like in the pictures on the website. Its not bad for a $125 room, but not the $300 per night that I paid. The front desk had nothing to say but a half hearted Im sorry, we felt unheard.
Positive: Large room, separate temperature control, clean accomodations. Helpful and friendly staff. Negative: People next door were loud by slamming doors and sounded like things dropped on floor. The pool needed to be cleaned, but wasnt too bad. Just had obnoxious young foreigners that were loud and flying a drone above the pool. Also diving in and splashing.
Good place to stay in Oak Hurst near Yosemite Mountain. One one inconvenient thing was whenever I got in the car, I could not get an internet signal to run GPS. When I arrived at the town, it worked, but from this parking lot point, it was not accessible. We enjoyed this calm and peaceful accomodation.
Fabulous stay with a table and chairs right outside our room on a terrace. Beautiful setting. and the Ranch and our room had a great feel. Wonderful service. I might recommend a chair be added to the room for dressing purposes. Also, breakfast was adequate, but better choice of orange juice and honey would be advisable.

Sierra Sky Ranch is not a common-looking hotel. It provided a relaxing experience and is only a short drive to the restaurants and stores in Oakhurst. The staff is polite and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
Changes are coming. Expansion to many more rooms doesnt bode well for the haunted ambiance. I understand it will make the new owners more $, but this lodge has been here since the late 1800s
Sierra Sky is the ideal place to stay for visiting the park. It is in close proximity to the park as well as other attractions. Absolutely everyone who works there is superb. It is rustic with modern conveniences and the setting is so welcoming plus reasonably priced. I hope to go back.
Overall, I like this property and the people working there are nice and friendly.I have booked my another stay in September and this will become my repeat stay hotel. We had a great time for our 2 nights stay.
Excellent, our room was very clean! Had a great view of a Cherry Blossom tree out our window and patio. The breakfast was sufficient for a busy day at Yosemite. The staff was extremely friendly and was given a tour when we checked in. Enjoyed the rustic look and a relaxed environment to just chill after Yosemite.
Close distance to Yosemite entrence. Room was quite small. There was no refridgerator in the room. The balcony area is shared with others so there is some noise coming in. Dissapointing breakfast options. Overall very overpriced for what you get for your money.
The hotel is beautiful. On a prior visit, our stay was wonderful. On this visit, we had to deal with disturbances from an extremely loud creaky floor. We paid the same rate as rooms that did not have this noise issue and one of the discounts we were to received was not honored. The hotel was supposed to follow up with us about this and we have not heard back. The staff was friendly and courteous. The wifi is weak.

Beginning of February is the perfect time to come here! We truly enjoyed our stay. Everything was serene and quiet. The king bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the rooms that have a small porch out front. The breakfast option was nice but truly continental with packaged oatmeal, packaged hard boiled eggs, some cereal and cottage cheese or yogurt. Definitely a nice snack but if you are looking for dietary purposes, I would recommend bringing your own breakfast replacement and just grabbing a thing or two. Gabe at the front desk checked us in and was very kind as it was late. It would be great to have at least a chair in the room to sit and tie your shoes, but it truly is for sleeping only. One other thing that would be nice in the winter is a hot tub, but from an operational standpoint, it is high maintenance. They have seating areas with chess set and piano. Would be nice to bring some cards or games if you’re with a crowd or family. Would definitely stay here again!
Great quiet hotel near Oakhurst. The rooms are very comfortable, homey, nice bed, snug - a little small but worked fine. They have a door that directly exits to the shared patio which was really nice in the evening, we sat out there playing cards and having a bottle of wine (we bought it at the grocery store in town, the hotel sells some bottles but they are limited and pricey). The patio has a small table and 2 chairs for most of the rooms, the view (from a front room) was rolling grasslands and a relatively quiet rural highway. Short easy drive to the city if you want to eat out or shop. I noticed the rooms on the backside also had a patio but they did not have the same consistent small table and chairs, I saw a room with just a bench, another with a large table but no chairs.
It was so quiet. I love the ranch atmosphere. There are verandas everywhere with places to sit. The beds are comfy, no cold showers. Thank you
Loved the ranch / cottage vibes! We stayed for a few nights and thought the place was very clean with modern bathrooms, food was great, breakfast was simple but good, and I loved that they have board games and areas where you can sit and hang out with friends. They also have a coffee / tea station that you can access anytime. Staff was nice and friendly. Overall would definitely recommend!Some small things to improve are: offering a mini fridge in rooms (we had to use our ice bucket as fridges for some of the food we brought), the heating vent was right above our bed so didn’t love the air blowing into my face while sleeping.

One of a kind mountain lodge experience. The staff, the rooms everything was top-notch, really felt like I was at home and at peace. The lobby area is very unique and authentic and has rustic antique vibes, where guests can sit together and enjoy. We were able to sit in our balcony and do star gazing in the night, it was absolutely beautiful.The only reason I took off a star is for the breakfast, it’s extremely limited.
This place was homely and well-maintained. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. This place had a fireplace with games and 2 separate larger rooms for families to huddle which was really nice. The rooms were clean, double-sanitized, and had all the amenities. We were comfortable and every room comes with a patio which is a nice touch. This place also has an attached tavern where they served complimentary breakfast. Would definitely recommend this place for travelers going to Yosemite or when around Oakhurst CA
The air conditioning/ heating didn’t work. We were given a fan, not something expected given that this hotel is in the ascend collection. The breakfast didn’t start until 7am which wasn’t convenient. The room was on the lower/basement floor, not what we expected at all. No fridge was another inconvenience.
The hotel was amazing. The history there is rich and neat. The facility was awesome. I love that they have coffee in the lobby all of the time. Diana at the front desk was above and beyond helpful! If I had a place of business I would want her at the forefront of my customer service!
Was very pleased with our 3 night stay at this property. Quiet setting just 10 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite. Wonderful staff and a comfortable room, plus continental breakfast.
When we arrived in the room, it was filled with bugs and flies, the bed sheet and the pillow had a big stain on it. For a 300$ a night, this room was below average. It is the destination price you should expect and not a luxurious room.
Lovely little hidden gem that was built over 150 years ago. Room was clean, reception was very nice, and over all it was a nice stay.

What a gem of a stay at the South Gate of Yosemite. Convenient for a day trip into the National Park with the best, rustic ambiance. Quiet and woodsy.
Not what I expected. Nothing like the photos. The rooms literally do not even have closets or a place to put your clothes. No long mirror, no nothing. Geez we spend over $500 for 2 days, not worth it. Pictures are deceiving.

A beautiful historical place to visit. Very comfortable beds and nice clean rooms, only thing missing is a safe in the bedroom. The hotel is a lovely building dating from the 19th century. Breakfast is continental style with fruit juices and coffee on offer. Unfortunately during our stay the dining room was closed for evening meals but there are plenty of eating places down the road in Oakhurst.

We loved it from the moment we arrived in the parking lot. The staff was friendly, courteous, and efficient checking us in, showing us our room, etc. The architecture and ambiance is superb, and the food in the restaurant was beyond excellent. A little pricey, but worth it. Unfortunately, due to a family emergency having nothing to do with Sierra Sky Ranch, we were forced to leave soon after we arrived, which was very disappointing. Well definitely be back.
We found the Sierra Sky Ranch to be a most charming, warm, comfortable hotel. We enjoyed sitting in the lounging areas with our family next to the fire. There were many nice decor touches including a piano and several areas where you could sit and read or relax, whatever you desired. We had a birthday celebration at the restaurant and we were impressed by the quality of food and service. The food was delicious and the staff ensured that we had everything we needed.

A bunch of history in this place. From an 1800s working ranch to WW2 rehab and later Hotel. The place is very clean and quiet. We were in town for business mixed with pleasure. The drive to Yosemite is only minutes up the mountain. Plenty of scenery that will leave you speechless.
I could not understand why Sky Ranch is listed as a 3-star hotel. I ended up booking it after reading the great reviews from people who have stayed there in the past and for the great price offer. Give Sky Ranch a chance and you wont regret it! Awesome low key spot! I really enjoyed my stay and the friendly staff!
I really had high hopes for this hotel. Location was stunning and close to Yosemite, and the property is very unique and old. Rooms are small, and my sheets for some reason were upside down? No fridge. When checking in the receptionist was very kind. However that ends there. Wanted to grab dinner in their restaurant we stood around waiting for someone to seat us (we came in October maybe they were understaffed? the hotel was still busy). During dinner they had the AC blasting it was so cold, the waitresses seemed very shy and timid, didnt make conversation, and the food was overpriced with very little variety in the menu. We paid $9 for a tiny plate of spinach and $21 for a veg shepherds pie which was so small and so bland. Also the restaurant is closed Sunday-Monday, luckily we got there on a Saturday. To top it off breakfast the next morning was terrible. I was hoping for some fresh food and lots of variety, nope. Breakfast starts at 7am we came at 7:15am and half the food was gone. One worker didnt seem bothered or try to rush to refill the items. There werent even plates! No yogurts, bananas, bagels, English muffins. You had one juice option: orange, tiny poppy seed muffins, eggs and potatoes which were empty when we got there, and some white toast. I had better breakfasts at cheap Comfort Inns. For $200/night this was terribly underwhelming and I wish I had a better experience.
I just recently stayed here with my family and it was a wonderful experience. It was quiet and relaxing, room was spacious enough and the porch view was very peaceful. Staff was great, and Diane was super friendly during our arrival and stay. 5/5 will definitely be staying there when we head that way again!
We love this hotel. It has become our perfect getaway from work and the stresses of life. Less than 2 hours from home, we come up to Oakhurst a few times a year just to stay at this hotel; it feels like home and the staff could not be better. Having the restaurant open now is also wonderful as the food has become a highlight of our stay.

Such a great find for a few nights sleep….I didn’t want to stay with a big chain type hotel whilst in town for a few nights and would stay here again when next visiting south Yosemite and Oakhurst. Diane on the front desk and colleagues made us all very welcome. Very clean and great rooms. We had room 35, which is a downstairs room. The only downside is that you can hear footsteps above you from the other rooms (but it is an old, historic hotel and is too be expected). Really liked resting and eating on the porch for breakfast. We visited mid to late May, and the weather was great - would have been good to have a few chairs on the grass, and these would have followed once the season got underway. Hope to see you again when next visiting Yosemite.Thank you Diane for the scourer pad!
Great location, only 30 mins to the entrance of Yosemite and about an hour drive to the valley. The staff are all kind and helpful. The hotel has a a beautiful rustic aesthetic and the beds are comfortable. The free breakfast went beyond my expectations (cowboy potatoes and spinach scrambled eggs), and was super delicious. There is a restaurant on the property and only about 15 mins away from Oakhurst for more options.
Absolutely fell in love as soon as we pulled in! Everything was amazing-staff was so friendly, informative and overall wonderful. Every part of the ranch was rustic and beautiful. The overall feel of the place was so peaceful and tranquil. The rooms were updated-bed was big and comfy, bathroom was gorgeous and clean. This is a beautiful ranch with a lot of history. This was the perfect place for a romantic stay! Once we arrived we did not want to leave! We even ended up ordering in when we had planned an expensive night out! The patio although a shared patio was still very private and cozy. Breakfast was delicious-I love that they use fresh herbs! The muffins were fresh, moist and full of flavor. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available 24 hours. The grounds were well kept and would be a beautiful wedding spot! I literally looked up available dates as soon as we got home! Cannot wait to return! Thank you ladies for a wonderful stay!
The hotel needs to upgrade their heating system. Since we ended up with staying in a room in the adjacent building and dont know about other rooms in the main building, there seem to be things needed to be improved to assure a comfortable stay at the hotel. The receptionists were good and kind. The newly opened restaurant was excellent.

My trip to Yosemite would not have been the same if my friend and I hadn’t stayed at Sierra Sky Ranch. We loved Diana’s hospitality. The hotel is located on a great piece of land. We loved the view. It was neat to see the squirrels and wild turkeys surroundings too.The beds were extremely comfortable and the size of the room was perfect. We had an outside patio area to sit and relax. I was grateful for the pool though it needs a good renovation with painting inside with cushion seats, etc.I loved the feel of the Ranch style. The manager and the other front desk worker could use an improved work ethics as they didn’t care that the milk ran out for our coffee. Gosh, when you pay over $200 / night, you would expect the staff to ensure availability to what is offered.The outside of the Ranch could use a bit of a brighter paint job. The folding chairs were worn down and rusty in the gazebo. The shower needs to be worked on as the water runs from the rubber stopper.Overall I loved the experience as it was rural and down to earth. Diana made the experience wonderful. She is a star ⭐️
The Sierra Sky Ranch has been in Oakhurst for quite some time but I had never stayed there. I wanted to stay somewhere more unique other than just a chain motel/hotel. This place did not disappoint. It was charming and warm like what you would expect a vintage ranch house to be. The room was clean and well appointed. Furnishings and bathroom were nicely updated. The French doors opening up to the shared porch were fantastic. I was able to sit out on the porch and read, say hello to other guests, and look in the pretty view. The bed was comfortable. The lady at the front desk was awesome. I liked everything about the place.
I came here on my honeymoon, we went to explore Yosemite which is only about a 20 minute drive from this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here the staff was amazing and told us about the history of the hotel. Although the rooms are small, the common areas were amazing one room had board games so we got some tea from their amazing selection and played some games. The breakfast was delicious! If you get a chance explore this amazing hotel with incredible views of the mountains.

The hotel was rustic old ranch style and you could feel the old American atmosphere, which really delighted us. The furniture was vintage style and we liked it very much. The rooms were very clean and had a balcony with a forest view. The parking was free and there were no additional costs for Wifi, which worked well.Breakfast was fine overall, but could be bigger and with more choices. The balcony could be better separated per room to have more privacy.
A great, historic, peaceful northern California getaway. Well kept grounds and near many stunning Yosemite views. Near a few quaint little towns where visitors can learn about American West History. Nice and friendly staff. Older historic hotel, more rustic with modern amenities. So appropriately decorated with ranch themed artifacts but not overdone.
Excellent, our room was very clean, great view, breakfast and the staff. Enjoyed the rustic look and feel and they had upgraded a lot of the interior.

Not happy with the room service.room was small, bathroom is even smaller but my only complain is the room is gross. floor is so dirty you can not even walk in bare foot. one of the pillow was dirty it has several hair so it is clear that it was not washed. room service is bad.

This had to be one of my favorite places to stay EVER. Excellent service and super friendly, accomodating staff. Loved having fresh baked cookies in our room when we arrived. The place has a rustic ranch feel. We dont usually spend a lot of time at our hotels when hiking some of the national parks but I have to admit I could have stayed in this hotel the whole time. We had a nice porch/balcony just outside our room where we could eat and enjoy all the incredible nature. Breakfast was wonderful. Different every morning but home cooked and very fresh. Good selection as well. Great chef. This place was really amazing and felt like home.

The Sierra Sky Ranch is a beautiful property in a rustic setting close by the south entrance to Yosemite. It’s well maintained and it’s location affords quiet enjoyment of the surroundings. It has an excellent dining room and bar, the Cowboy Tavern. The entire staff is friendly, accommodating, and welcoming.
It is a pleasant stay overall, quite close to several great restaurants and also close to the entrance to Yosemite. When we stayed the restaurant was unfortunately not yet open, but there is a nice lounge area to hang out and the staff are lovely. I will say that if youre a light sleeper, this may not be the place for you -- youre definitely going to hear other guests in surrounding rooms -- but its a nice spot to stay overall.
I stayed here on Friday night. It was really a nice experience! The room was neat and comfortable. Surrounding environment was so tranquil. The service was great and considerate as well, gave me a list of restaurants and a guide brochure of Yosemite. The breakfast was also excellent. After settled down, I then found this place is famous for haunted ghost with a long history since 1875, which surprised me. But there was no ghost lol, not lucky enough for me. I chose here for its short distance to Yosemite, which is definitely an ideal hotel to enjoy traveling and relief the tiredness. Will bring my girlfriend here next time!
Room was megacold even though we booked the only one with a fireplace. Once settling in the room we learned the fireplace is only for decoration. Then the room should not be advertised with fireplace. The beds were old and layn trough. Cleaning was not done the proper way. Breakfast is a Bad joke even for an US Hotel. Next time we will go to the Hampton.

Stunning, quite and a great piece of history! The front door to reservation check in is incredible! Over 100 years old and in spectacular condition.Room was a bit small and the double beds werent the best but for the best piece and quiet it was worth it.
Hidden gem! The rooms are cozy but have what you need for a good night rest and the outdoor patio is a plus. The staff are wonderful, and breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful resort style lodge with amenities in a gorgeous spot whether visiting Yosemite or not. Large rooms. Very comfortable bed. Helpful staff, which is certainly rare from this traveler’s experience in Yosemite. We’ll stay here again given any opportunity.
We stayed here for two nights and had a really nice time.The hotel is a little off from the city of Oakhurst in a quiet surrounding. Nonetheless Oakhurst is just a few minutes away by car, so restaurants and shops are nearby.Our room was really comfortable and clean, the direct veranda acces was nice, having the possibility to sit outside enhances the stay quality. Breakfast was ok, a standard US American breakfast, nothing special. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

We had a fantastic stay here! The staff were all super friendly, helpful, and guided our stay around Yosemite. Our room was lovely and the location is just spot on. Cant recommend it enough!!
While rich in California and history of the West, the rooms are not well-insulated. We hardly slept at all, as folks staying in rooms above us walked/marched/moved/pounded the floors and kept us awake. But we couldnt blame them, as its simply the construction and the insulation thats an issue. But if you have to stay here, request an upper-level room. Check-in took a while, as did paying the bill. The lawn is gorgeous, the pool clean and enjoyable. The restaurant remains closed, looks like a fun saloon. The location is great, surrounded by trees and wide open fields. Dont go for a walk on the road, the local traffic is swift and theres no shoulder! About a 15-minute or less drive to Tenaya Lodge for a nice meal and then another few minutes into the South Entrance to Yosemite NP.
This is a great rustic hotel, 30 minutes from Yosemites south gate. Staffs were very friendly. The lady at check-in walked us to the available rooms which I found was a very unique and nice gesture. The rooms were clean, had most amenities. No fridge and microwave in the room, although available in the dining area/front desk. Internet speed not great. Enough parking space. The overall ambiance was great and peaceful.
This hotel is just far enough from town to have a nice resort feel. They were extremely accommodating, welcoming, and informative. My steak dinner at the restaurant was delicious and our server was attentive, funny, and on top of it. I feel badly that I can’t remember names - so I’ll describe the staff who stood out, the woman whose son is the chef, she walked us to our room when we checked in and was a great help when I asked about anything. Our server was a thin older woman, I was impressed by her great attitude. Honestly, every staff member, front desk, chef, server etc had great attitudes. The bathroom toiletries smell amazing and the bed ... omg the bed ... I wanted to strap it to my car and take it home. That was the best night sleep I’ve had in a while. The perfect firmness for my bad hip and shoulders. I didn’t wake up turning and popping all night like I do in my too soft bed at home. I’ve already recommended this hotel to multiple people and would definitely stay again if I’m in the area. My only complaint or suggestion ... it would be nice if there were sheer curtains so when I changed or wanted privacy from the veranda, I didn’t have to block out all of the natural light when I closed the black out curtains.
I have never written a hotel review before because I don’t have high standards and generally don’t care to write reviews, but right as I arrived here this week I knew I had to tell everyone how great it was. The location was perfect, right near Oakhurst downtown where we got dinner (we were staying here to see Yosemite). The staff was so pleasant and accommodating, the interior decor was gorgeous and cozy, many personal touches all around, nice and quiet, the bed was the comfiest hotel bed I’ve ever stayed in, loved the in room access to the porch, the rooms were very updated and clean, great WiFi, and loved the tea station and game room. Wish I stayed here my whole trip and not just for one night! I’ll come back and stay here again when I return to Yosemite. This place is a gem, and the price is perfect!!
Our family decided to visit Yosemite and Bass Lake and we found the perfect place to stay! I really enjoyed the location and the coziness of the Ranch. It was rustic but still had the amenities I would need from a big hotel. Most of all we loved the staff and service, the front desk was attentive, friendly and always made us feel at home. Spending our 10th Anniversary there was the perfect choice. My kids really enjoyed the people there the most and didnt want to leave. Hi from Room 42!
Loved this lodge! We spent one night here on our way from Kern Canyon up to Arnold. Our room had everything that we needed, it was clean, almost luxurious feeling with a super comfortable bed and nicely appointed bathroom. I loved the layout of the hotel - there were multiple shared living room type spaces and multiple ways to easily slip outside, either from our own veranda or doors in the hallways all accessible with our room key. The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast was a simple but nice touch.
Ill only rate it 4 stars because of the floors. I fall asleep with the last person walking around and woke up with the first one up (5-6 hours of sleep) because it sounds like people are walking around your bed.People managing it were nice and pleasant to talk to. Breakfast was good. Overall happy with my stay and Id visit again if/when possible.
The Sierra sky inn was just what I was looking for when planning a night away with my husband! Our room have a beautiful fire place and the staff was very helpful and kind. We will be coming back!!!
Loved everything about this hotel! Lovely property with history (read the stone on the way in or the paper in the lobby) yet modern updates, super comfy bed, clean bathroom, and a kind front desk. A COVID breakfast sucks at any hotel these days so bring your own cinnamon rolls and heat them up in the microwave. Loved eating on the front porch. Short drive into town for dinner or order something for delivery, but stay here for sure!
Lovely hotel close to Yosemite. However the on-site tavern/restaurant was not open as described online.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. Upon check-in, the hostess very kindly walked us to our room and made sure we knew everything we needed. The overall environment was very appropriate to the mountain/woods surroundings. I loved the lodge itself with wood panels and ceiling beams - very pretty. Our hotel room was lacking a table and chairs or any type of couch/lounge - it only provided a bed and was very very small so the room felt very overpriced for what was provided (less than a motel 6). We did eat at the restaurant and had a lovely time. The food was pricey but it was nicely prepared but the price was comparative to a high-end steak house and I cant say it was quite that level, although we enjoyed it. The wait staff really did not know the prices for any of the wines and had to call a manager to get pricing (but they were very nice and helpful and friendly). It did seem they had just gone through some changes so this may have been why. Overall, it is a nice place to stay and we enjoyed it but there is room for improvement.
Such a beautiful, quiet place that feels like you’ve stepped back in time and are a guest at an historic ranch! Then you check into your room and find a fully modernized hotel with a comfy bed, new furniture and beautiful bath. There’s great common areas like a reading room too. Nights were super quiet and restful. Breakfast is very light- power bars and fruit, coffees and teas, but it’s nice for grab and go. Staff was very warm and welcoming too. We only planned to stay one night, but we liked it so much, we canceled our other plans and stayed a second.
We stayed at this place while visiting Yosemite and it was about an hour to the central valley. The hotel itself is very cute and the rooms are comfortable and the staff is nice. My one complaint is that the doors on both sides (facing out to the deck as well as to the hallway) are not at all soundproof. We were woken up every morning by our neighbor who insisted on having a loud phone conversation outside on the deck. There was also a good amount of sound from the hallway in the morning. If you’re a light sleeper make sure you bring earplugs
Overall good hotel, easy access off highway, but highway noise was virtually non-existent. Clean, but also enjoyed the older historical info on the building itself. Reminded me somewhat of the Yellowstone Lodge decor. Unlike some chain hotels, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water available 24/7. All staff friendly. Staff also recommended where to eat in Oakhurst, at Petes Restaurant. Excellent before heading up to Yosemite each day
Didn’t get to stay as long as we hoped but customer service and inside appeal of this hotel was better than expected. If you’re looking for a warm welcome and relaxing environment this is the place you need to stay in Oakhurst! Highly recommend!
This hotel was off the beatin track. It was very quaint with so much history. The decor was of high quality. Our room was very comfortable and the staff was great! A+ for sure!
This was our first trip to Oakhurst and found Sierra Sky Ranch online. It was just as pictured. The moment we walked in we felt like we were home. Everything was so clean and the staff were so nice and helpful. Would love to come back again!
I loved the hotel, the cabin feel to the decor. The bed was the most comfortable bed Ive ever slept in.Very nice and clean. Looked new in room, and bathroom. Clean. My location and my stay was quiet. The heat worked very well. Beautiful location and not on busy heavy traffic noise area.Did not like lack of refrigerator and lack of microwave. There was an ice machine near though.A big enough (1/2) gap on my hanging door blind creeped me out that anyone on public porch could peer in through glass door to view the top half of the bed, and me in it. Had to cover it. I read about the ghosts but the room I was in, I had no problems at all. I slept like a dream on what almost felt like a feather top dreamy, pillow-like bed.
Highly recommend this hotel for individuals, families and corporate/retreat groups. Surprisingly upscale in a sophisticated rustic sort of way. Very clean and comfortable. We stayed on our way home from Yosemite. We arrived late and went straight to dinner in our hiking clothes. While we would have liked to clean up, the staff was very accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. They even took our beverage order in the lobby as we checked in. Multiple excellent service experiences. Beautiful furnishings, fresh and clean. We will be back.
Our family liked staying here for several nights while visiting Yosemite, July 2017. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Every morning they gave us a large bag of ice for our ice chest and again in the evening, filled our ice bucket. The bathroom was beautiful! Great shower and separate tub. Restaurant on site- it was ok, convenient but not our fav dinner in Oakhurst. Breakfast is complimentary, good coffee, basic choices. There was some fresh fruit but it was overripe. The friendly waiter and maintenance man was interesting to talk with- both provided great recommendations for the park. We stayed in a spacious 2 room suite, it was beautiful, beds were comfortable, wished it would have had a patio and/or outside setting area. Beautiful facility. Recommended for families or couples visiting Yosemite.
Im only leaving this review because Ive gotten multiple emails about it every day since I checked out. Ascend, knock it out, thats a bad user experience. The hotel is lovely. Its cute, the food is good, and its removed from the main drag so it stays quiet. My only complaints are that the bedding was old/lumpy/uncomfortable, and the wifi is terrible (which is great if you really want to disconnect).
We enjoyed our stay here! Cute hotel with super friendly staff. Diana, Karen, the owners, waiters, bartender, basically everyone that works here is Amazing!! We’re more sad about leaving the staff than the actual hotel lol. Thank you so much for all of your hospitality and look forward to coming back!
Love the vibe at this place, rustic yet modern and close to Yosemite. Staff there are brilliant, particularly Rachel who always found time to go above and beyond.Couple of things to bear in mind. The restaurant was a bit overpriced and the dish we had (sliders) wasnt very good.The hotel needs sound insulation blown into the wall cavities as you can hear too much from outside and neighbouring rooms.There is no fridge in the rooms or a microwave.Our shower head was blocked up and there was hair in the drain grate.The bathrooms need vent fans installed.Despite this, its still a five star review because the service is exceptional, friendly the setting is great and the hotel warm and inviting. Will be definitely staying again.
The employees were so warm, hospitable, friendly. The food at the restaurant was pretty good! The property itself is beautiful. However, the rooms are incredibly small. The lights kept flickering in our room. The walls were paper thin, you can hear everything. People talking and people walking either in other rooms or the hallway. The WiFi is spotty but it was fine since the point of the trip was to disconnect for the weekend. This place is overpriced for the overall value.
Best experience! My wife and I had our honeymoon here 2 years ago and returned for our Anniversary! They made the room so beautiful with roses on the bed and a nice fireplace with a warm plate of cookies to welcome us. We definitely will stay again!!
Desk staff was very accommodating offering to store our bikes in their secure locked room. She gave us an awesome restaurant choice for dinner. The building grounds were so well maintained and our room although small was clean and welcoming. This hotel exceeded my expectations.
Great place to stay. Was here for a Yosemite trip. Easy gravel parking. Rooms are a bit small but well kept and worth it. It has French doors that open up to a shared porch with a nice view of the surrounding trees. It’s a quiet location with a chance of spotting wildlife. We’ve seen deer and wild turkey during our stay. You can always find hot chocolate and coffee mix in the lounge area. Breakfast and dinner meals are tasty.
Sierra Sky Ranch was a beautiful, historic building that seemed to preserve a lot of the old parts of the building which I really enjoyed. The bed and bathrooms were wonderful, if not luxurious, and there were some cute rocking chairs that we could watch TV in front of. There were definitely enough electrical outlets and the wifi worked well enough. The only issues that we noted was that the floors could use some deep cleaning (but its an old building so take that with a grain of salt) and that there wasnt furniture to put food on or to put clothes away in, which also wasnt an issue for our short term stay but could be an issue for someone with a lot of stuff. The restaurant attached to the hotel had very limited hours and the food didnt match the price point. As well, the hotel is next to the entrance of Yosemite, making it extremely valuable in location.
Very comfortable and reasonably priced hotel. Exactly what we needed for our group and I would happily come back. Rooms are not huge (and do not offer closet space, so a bit cramped with many bags) but the beds were comfortable, bathroom was sizeable, and the overall space was clean. Plus there are nice common areas and many rooms open onto a porch with seating. The location is well outside the park itself, but for anyone who is willing to do the drive in for a day of activities, this property would work nicely. And for those of us with activities outside, its ideal (as there are plenty of good restaurants and other services nearby). We were too early for the seasonal pool, but the grounds are attractive and it looks like it might be a nice option for a hot afternoon.
We loved the rustic charm of the hotel as well as the history. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed the furniture on the patio, it made for a lovely dinner date. The hotel was close enough to town to go and grab a bite to eat, but far enough to be able to enjoy the scenic landscape of the area.
This hotel is very unique. We have been to a couple of hotels in cities across USA. We have seen none like this so far.John the Front desk executive at the Sierra Sky rank was amazing explaining the history of the ranch, the hotel and the locality. John and Karen are very friendly and gave a lot of suggestion for the places to visit and the activities for the kids to enjoy.The hotel itself struck us with its old style door, wooden roof, mix of fine sofas against the old style classic solid wooden tables and decorations. The haunted hotel story piqued the interest of our party and we had stories to exchange late into the night. Our son was happy reading the stories and creating his own stories of horror around the hotel. Like This board was not there before Dad. How did it come in place now..etc.The internet Wifi is fast. Rooms, beds, bathrooms and the commodes very clean.The common Balcony/Patio that the rooms open out into was nice for our family tea. The surroundings are clean and quiet. Yes, wooden floors did creak and the noises of people walking the hallway was heard in our room. But we were never disturbed in our sleep because of this. The interiors of the hotel is very beautiful. We will definitely go to Sierra Sky ranch any time again whenever we are in the area.
We stayed 2 nights while exploring Yosemite, we found the location convenient and the accommodations wonderful! Decor of the hotel and the guest rooms was amazing! Beds were comfortable and bathroom was fabulous! The location was peaceful and quiet and allowed for relaxing after exploring the park. Loved the outside patios to sit in the evenings. All staff was great! Id recommend staying here!

We were doing a National Parks trip and had previously been to Sequoia and Kings Canyon and they both had snow and we had to go out of the park and around to get to Kings Canyon because the road between the parks was closed due to snow. We were also told we had to have chains which cost us $200+ dollars when in reality were not needed. So by the time we got to Sierra Sky we were frustrated and burnt out. We spent the day at Yosemite and it rained the entire time. So we decided to go home and not spend the additional night at Sierra. Because it was to late to cancel we decided we would pay the additional night and go home anyway. Sierra Sky only charged us a half rate for the second room which was very generous on their part. The facility itself was very clean and homey. It was not like your typical hotel which made it a welcome choice for us since we were in chain hotels the entire trip. The person who greeted us, Tammy, was excellent and extremely helpful and sympathetic. The restaurant was not open but I would imagine the food would be excellent based on the rest of the experience here. This is an ideal place to stay if you want a relaxing stay. The balcony area along the outsides of the rooms with all the comfy chairs would be great in better weather. Overall I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants a change from your standard chain hotel

We stayed for two nights in May 2017 while visiting Yosemite National Park. Our room was a little small but was clean and comfortable. We had no problem with the WiFi. The bathroom looked as if it had recently been remodeled, very pretty and modern. We liked the door that led outside from our room to a deck that gave each unit its own table and chairs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was light but I thought adequate for what we wanted. Loved those chocolate muffins.

Location was great, not too far of a drive to the Yosemite park gates, rooms were super cozy and modern. All amenities were functioning properly, and easy to use as well as professionally presented. The 24 hr check in capability was also a huge plus! I also really enjoyed learning about the history of the hotel as a cattle ranch. Overall a great experience!

Great place to bring family and get away, but still close to home. Fair pricing and yummy muffins and coffee service with care.
We only got to spend one night at this place while visiting Yosemite, but it was a nice experience. The lobby is beautiful, and just has that old cabin feel. The room was nicely updated with a door leading out to the front porch. I honestly wasnt expecting much for breakfast, so it was nice to see boiled eggs in addition to the regular cereal/fruit/oatmeal/pastries. The chocolate muffins were delicious! Everyone I encountered was very pleasant and helpful. This hotel is very close to one of the entrances to the park...unfortunately, that entrance was closed during our visit. Something to take note of before making arrangements!
Staying here was the best decision my family and I could have made while visiting Yosemite. It has so much history being a Cattle Ranch, a Hospital for children with tuberculosis, then a Hospital for soldiers with ptsd after WW2, then back to a Ranch and now a beautiful place to stay when in Yosemite. It felt as cozy as being home! Diane at the front desk is amazing and makes you feel so welcomed! The rooms were spotless and the updated bathroom was a nice touch for such a historic place.
Needed a place to stay last minute because of how difficult it is to camp in or near Yosemite right now, so I had no expectations. This was such an enjoyable place with great people (other guests and staff) that I didn’t want to leave! Made for a memorable experience, and I would definitely return. Really like the lodge aesthetic.
Quaint accommodations, clean room. Only wish was that they had a mini fridge in the room to store cold things, since that’s useful when having cold drinks and food when hiking or having refrigerated medication. Otherwise, nice place, would stay here again.

The pictures of property and the reviews seem fake. There was no fridge in the room. Mattress had blood stains. For breakfast there was just scrambled eggs and potatoes. No bread. Stay away from this property
The staff at Sierra Sky really understand customer service. Everyone we encountered went above and beyond to accommodate us. The location was so convenient to Yosemite, just outside the lower park entrance but away from the crowds and chaos. The hotel is a beautifully renovated ranch house with rustic yet sophisticated decor and furnishings. Very clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the steakhouse (8 of us) and everyones meal was delicious and as described. The highlight was the staff. They were all friendly and anxious to take care of - and anticipate guests needs. Summer (at the reception desk) was particularly helpful and provided over-the-top service. We will be back!Note- great place for a family reunion, corporate retreat, or just a stop on your way in or out of Yosemite.
Yes the rooms are small but they are not over priced. The hotel is super cute with lots of lobby and sitting areas outside the rooms if you needed some space. The breakfast was nice and there is coffee and tea avaliable 24/7. The staff was super sweet as well. the hotel is about a 30 minutes to an hour out of Yosemite depending on where you wanted to go but is really close to oakhurst so you can get food or go to a cvs if you needed too. :) would definitly stay again.
Excellent staff welcome you at this charming historic ranch turned hotel. Room was impeccably clean. Only problem was remarkable lack of sound buffering. Headboard shared a wall with the ice and vending machine, and could hear neighbors throughout night: no sleep prior to a long hike and drive home. I do recommend this hotel for people who are heavy sleepers. It has great character and history; better than a boring chain hotel. Just don’t expect a quiet night here.
Great service with friendly staff! The view is amazing off the deck. Probably has most pillow Ive seen on a bed in that industry. Beds were also very comfortable! Very well kept up! I would recommend staying here for the views and atmosphere!

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It is on the site of a 1875 ranch and nicely remodeled. The drive to Yosemite Valley is about 50 miles, so plan plenty of time. The setting is beautiful and we loved the room, although small. Would have liked some place to hang clothes or a luggage rack, but probably not possible. Ask for a room that opens up to the deck, so you will be able to use table and chairs out there and enjoy the view. The breakfast was minimal, but nicely presented.
This was a great place for me and my wife today. Part of us wish we could have stayed longer to be able to enjoy time in the hotel even more. It is a beautiful lodge tucked away amongst the hills. Being from a city, it makes me feel like I was at my cabin out in the woods.I always wish that CHOICE HOTELS continental breakfasts were a little higher quality and more fillings, but I appreciated the options that Sierra Sky had. The staff was helpful in providing information for us as we visited the area, especially related to getting into Yosemite.I wish that the housekeeping was a little more flexible with making it into our room as we slept in well past their visiting time because of a late arrival. They never ended up coming. (Though, after only sleeping in the room one night, they probably didnt have to anyways). Great stay!
The Sierra Sky Ranch is a great place to get away from it all. The grounds are well kept, with beautiful flowers and plants. There are several common areas to just sit and relax. It is an easy drive from town, where there are numerous places to eat.
The hotel staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, the room was clean and well designed, the beds were very comfortable and the wi-fi strength/speed was great. Also loved the outside balcony with a table and chairs for every room. The hotel grounds were lovely and the hotel itself was nicely restored. We loved all the preserved historical details, especially the fireplaces and the front door!
The Sierra Sky Ranch is a hidden gem just south of YosemiteThe building is a renovated Rest and Relaxation location for World War II service members.The rooms are updated and very comfortable.All the rooms share a wooden veranda with plenty of room to sit on the front porch and relax.The restaurant was a welcomed surprise. The food was excellent, abundant and well worth the experience. Tiffany was a very good waitress.The staff is extremely friendly and will give you very good pointers on sites to see. Especially Scott the all-around handy man, law care, conciergeThe best advice was the Sequoia grove 9 miles away outside of Yosemite.This experience was an A+++.
No fridge in the room. And no restaurant or bar closed due to the winter season . Walls are thin I could hear people in the other rooms sneeze or cough. Free breakfast is mediocre more like a snack .
Everything you could want for a comfortable and cosy Yosemite stay. Very clean and warm lodge style decor. After a day hiking so great to get into the giant king size beds and rooms leading into a veranda. Great perks like coffee available all day and free pastries in the morning. The staff were wonderful and friendly. Highly recommend.
Loved this Hotel. It had a rustic feel although very modern amenities. Staff was friendly and offered great recommendation for our sightseeing during the day. It was like staying at a Lodge back in the old days. The restaurants was nice and the food was very good as well as the prices. Doesn’t have a full bar service yet but wine and beer are offered. I think anyone staying here will enjoy themselves as we did.
This is a very clean and comfortable hotel in a peaceful setting with nice views. The old historic building, history, and decor provides a very pleasant indoor appeal.Our bed and room was small but very comfortable.The continental breakfast was very good.I recommend eating out on the front porch to enjoy the view. The front and back porches are nice in the evening as well.We would stay again for one or two nights.
Amazing place to stay, and conveniently close to a relative. This was my 3rd time stay at the sky ranch. But it was the first time getting woke up at 2am to the sound of children running across the porch. I would’ve thought I was dreaming until my adult daughter asked me the next day if I heard the noise outside. I did get up and investigate, but it was dead silent outside. Strange, creepy, but i didn’t think much of it. Admittedly I didn’t know much about the sky ranch’s history, it wasn’t until I was mentioning to co-workers this strange event that i decided to learn more about the place. Ah ha, makes sense now! It’s a lovely place, literally the most peaceful hotel I am ever visited.
This place was an amazing retreat after a long day of hiking at Yosemite. Its a bit of a drive over the mountain, but SO worth it. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and well appointed. There is 24-hour coffee, tea, and water (even cocoa in the chilly months), fireplaces to sit near, porches to relax on, and light breakfast in the morning (since their restaurant was closed). We wish wed stayed more nights there.
Sierra Sky has a ton of potential. Its so cute and the location is beautiful. The staff is very nice, and its very clean. However, the included breakfast is just a prepackaged Sara Lee danish, and some apples, oranges, and granola bars. The restaurant was closed, which made it more difficult to eat after a long day. You essentially have to go into Oakhurst, which isnt terribly far, but it would have been nice to relax at the hotel after a long day in Yosemite. The wifi is pretty bad, and definitely ask for a room on the top floor. I was on the bottom floor, and could hear every step of the people above me. Im indicating that I would recommend this hotel, but Id only recommend it if you can get a room on the top floor, and dont care about the breakfast, or not having food nearby.
If there is less than one star i will give it. The hotel was closed because of no electricity and water but nobody contact us before to be prepared and search another hotel. We arrived at 20:00 and it was snowing and just what we found is a small note on the glass !!! And we called nobody answer
Diana checked us in and made is feel at home. Jennifer was our housekeeper and our room was beautiful and clean. The linens were clean and soft. It was so nice waking up and having coffee on the veranda. The location was perfect in a beautiful wooded area not far from town or Yosemite.
Cute updated Western hotel. The lobby area is a very old ranch home that is decorated lovely and comfortable. Our room was a little small for 2 double beds but comfortable with a nice bathroom. French doors opened to a common deck. A nice restaurant on site. We enjoyed our stay!
The location of the hotel is great if you plan to visit Yosemite. The rooms were average but clean, the toilet in my room backed up into the shower and the shower did not drain well. Pedestal sink is very low and not suitable for taller people. I also has a larger suite on the first floor/basement and did not have any WiFi signal. There is no cell signal out there either but it comes back once you get to 41. The pillows were filled with some kind of crumbly foam and I found them very uncomfortable. The staff was absent when it was time for check out, so I just left my key at the desk and called and left a message to let them know I had left. It’s average at best but there really aren’t many options out there, just go in with humble expectations and you’ll be fine.
If it werent for the mattress and the smell of must, wed stay there again. Its a lovely spot, quiet, charming with lovely staff, but the must smell was strong and the mattress too uncomfortable for us. After long days at Yosemite, we really wanted to sleep restfully, but we couldnt. Awakened with soreness and fatigue. If they change their mattresses and eliminate the source of must, wed go back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful peaceful hotel in lovely Oak grove setting. Room decor was beautiful! Quiet and peaceful like a retreat! If you want a swanky hotel with all the bells and whistles then go to Vegas. This hotel is for those who crave a nice peaceful retreat atmosphere.
My daughter and I stayed at Sierra Sky Ranch over Thanksgiving week. It is a small hotel and has the homey feel of a B&B and is a great value for the money. The rooms were very clean and the bathrooms have been completely updated with beautiful tilework and great water pressure for long showers. The location was ideal --just at the South entrance to Yosemite. There was a complimentary continental breakfast each day and tea and coffee was always available. There were 3 cozy areas to sit and read or chat --one with a giant stone fireplace that was lit throughout the day. The highlight of the hotel is the Branding Iron Steakhouse which is on-site. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and very affordable. It was wonderful to have this gem of a restaurant just down the hall after a long day of arduous hiking in the park.
Sierra Sky Ranch is a charming hotel created out of a historic ranch building. There is a beautiful long porch out front, perfect for coffee and relaxing. The rooms are clean, artfully decorated and comfortable with plenty of extra towels. The staff is sweet and attentive, ready to answer questions and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. This hotel was head and shoulders above the average stop-over place. It was my favorite hotel that I stayed in this year and I am looking forward to going back.
Overall it was a good stay, it really is only 15 minutes away from Yosemite South Gate and about 8 mins away from town. The hotel itself is a great location I love the cabin feel to the lobby and all the agents were great. The room was nice but way too small for two beds. The room was the tiniest hotel room I probably have been in but still modern and clean everything worked ...downfall was there was no amenities in the room such as coffee, microwave, robes etc. They have a microwave and coffee in the lobby which is nice but still a downfall for the price. Because of covid I didn’t get to try the restaurant but they did have a very small continental breakfast which was either a muffin an apple and granola. I had read all the reviews before coming and I was so excited to have a little tour and some history about the place along with the stories of ghosts but we didn’t get the so I was a little depressed. One other con was I didn’t get much sleep because the rooms were next to an old creeky hallway in wish you could hear everyone coming in and out all night long, may be a ghost issue but who knows. You can even hear what the guest next to you is talking about there so close and tiny but the beds were so comfy and wonderful I’m sad I didn’t sleep well. Rooms were clean I felt safe touching things durning covid the showers were nice and hot but I did find a pubic hair in the shower which wasn’t hard to simply wear a glove and get a towel and throw it away rest if it was spic and span. Great location, great staff, clean rooms. But too small and noisy and over priced nice deals though Expedia though.
Hotel last year was a much better experience than this year. Quality has decreased significantly. Staff is still friendly, but accommodations are worse.
The lobby and exterior were beautiful, the room was nice but very small. Pretty much only fit the bed. The bathroom was way to small especially the shower. The internet was very spotty and not great. The TV quality was terrible. The restaurant wasnt even running. One of the staff walked into our room while we were in there without even knocking. Didnt like how all of the patios were shared, not a lot of privacy. Charged us an extra $50 fee that was refunded but they didnt even warn us of it before it came out.
Clean, rustic yet modern, comfortable rooms, great proximity to Yosemite and nearby eateries in Oakhurst. Friendly and accommodating staff. I would recommend to friends and family. The hotel is staff with everything you need for a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable stay.
The Sierra Sky Ranch was amazing! Surrounded by rolling hills and quiet, it was the perfect spot to go see Yosemite for the first time. The place was rich in history and it was beautiful to see how theyve restored it. I loved that the restaurant was in the same building, making it very easy to have a quick bite before heading out. Would definitely stay here again!
Highly recommended!!! Its so EASY to find. Just minutes away from Bass Lake. Its quiet and beautiful. As you come inside the hotel, its like youve stepped back in time. The lobby area has the look of a handsomely decorated log cabin. Staff is friendly.Then theres the intimate and downhome restaurant tucked away on the other side of the hotel.The food is superb!The menu ranges from prime rib to fried chicken to even shrimp pasta, with many delicious sides to choose from. Loaded baked potato, homemade mac n cheese, baked veggies and ranch beans, just to name a few. Its also kid friendly, so bring your family!They even feature their own bar and yes, happy hour!They are open all year round, dinner service is from 5 till 9pm on Wed through Sunday
Pleasantly surprised by our accommodations. Its history was fascinating. Our room was rustic and cozy. Will definitely come back again.
My daughter and I had a wonderful stay here before and after our trip to Yosemite valley. Setting was tranquil and rooms very comfortable. Within an hours drive to yosemite valley and just 15 min to bass lame. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Very nicely refurbished/decorated hotel, feels homely! The staff who checked us in seems a bit unwelcoming and mistakenly activated our card for two nights (which we were staying there for three nights), perhaps the staff could be a bit more professional and welcoming instead. We ordered food from the restaurant during our stay, the garlic potato mash was amazing! The food was quite good in general! Breakfast was good too, got everything youll need!
The Sierra Sky Ranch is a pleasure and it gets better with each visit. I really like the western motif and vibe. The restaurant was wonderful, though the service is a little slow so good to have friends to pass the time with. Rooms were very nice, great linens. Walls are a bit thin so there is noise from the neighbors and in the hall at times. Great place to see the sky and adventure into Yosemite or other Sierra playgrounds.
The hotel was amazing. The lobby entrance has beautiful wood features and the fire place is always going! The manager was very nice and hard working. If we had any questions he was our guy! The wifi was a bit poor and needs to be updated, but the place was beautiful and serene. I preferred this place over staying inside Yosemite by a mile! The bar and restaurant was closed which was a huge BUMMER!!! However, we made it work. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! Just make sure the bar and restaurant is open....
Room was a bit cozy, but service was great and friendly. The food was delicious and the alcohol drinks were strong. Definitely a must stay.
The Sierra Sky ranch is a lovely and quaint hotel. Our room and bath was newly remodeled with very nice bedding and pillows. There are several little spots in the hotel to sit and chat or play cards. It has a very lodge like feel but with very nice rooms. The rooms are not big but ours had two very comfortable beds. I highly recommend this spot!
This is a nice hotel. Its location is beautiful and is only about an hour scenic drive to Yosemite. However, do not plan on eating at the hotel as the food is terrible and overpriced. Also beware that the room you get may not be what you’re seeing online. Overall, the staff is friendly and the views are breathtaking.
The Sierra Sky Ranch was one of the cutest hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. It was warm, cozy and beautiful. For some reason, I’m drawn to bathrooms and the bathroom here was very beautiful!!! I loved the decor in the room as well. The staff was very polite and they offered little breakfast snacks in the morning which was great for our trip to Yosemite!
Location, location, location! The place was about a 15-minute drive to the south entrance of Yosemite. Because it was off the main road, you didnt hear any traffic passing by at night. Instead, we heard the hoots of owls and howls of coyotes, which is what you want when you are out in nature. The service and staff were extremely nice and helpful, the rooms were clean, and bed was comfortable.The downsides: The breakfast needs an upgrade. It consisted of packaged pastries (similar to Hostess, sweet and not healthy), granola bars, fruit, coffee, and teas. 2/3 of the room was taken up by the bed. The walls were a little thin, as you can clearly hear the snoring of neighbor rooms.Overall, the value for the room was great.
We had an amazing stay! Check in was super easy, and the women who checked us in was very nice and knowledgeable about the history of thr hotel, which we loved!! The room was cozy, bed was comfy and we loved the wrap around porch just outside our room! Breakfast left a little to the imagination, or lack there of, but... well....covid. We would love to return and stay again!
This is an amazing and very unique property.The lodge is perfect for a Yosemite visit and really makes you feel relaxed.Lodge has great common areas.My room had porch to sit out after hiking and watch wild turkeys stroll thru for a visit.Everything about this place exceeded my expectations.Manager of property was very helpful to me and all guests.
A beautiful quiet hotel, that feels more like a home from home. The rooms are big peaceful with outside seating to relax and take in the views of the wonderful countryside. Theres also log fires in the rooms which make them feel very homely. The location is great just on the south entrance to yosemite. Owners are really friendly and cleanliness is 5*
The rooms are tiny.Bathroom is tiny, no counter space, for tooth brush, razor or anything .No refrigerator.No chair. I dont sleep through the night, when I got up and had to waste time on my phone, I had to sit on the bed. wife wasnt happy.Analog TV.... blurry .I thought we switched to digital years ago !!??Had no heat one night, had to change rooms, what a pain. but I guess that can happen anywhere.The muffins were good. Not a hearty breakfast that would last you the day.
The grounds and rooms are beautiful but the rooms are small. My husband and I were traveling with our 3 kids (14, 7, & 5). When we arrived they checked us into a room smaller than we reserved. Once realized they worked on resolving the error but could not get us into another room for a couple of hours. Once we returned our luggage was in the correct room however it was extremely small and really wasnt suited for 5 people. We ended up having to get extra blankets and make a bed for our youngest to sleep on the floor between the two beds. We did enjoy having the side windows open, the fresh air flowing thru and the beautiful view and patio for our morning coffee. The kids enjoyed the muffins and yogurt and freely playing outside.
My wife and I stayed here on our way to Yosemite NP. It used to be a cattle ranch back in the 1850s and was converted to a Military Hospital for a decade or two. It wasnt a hotel until the 1950s and it has the old West feel to the place. The lobby and the restaurant are like being in an rustic cabin in the woods. The pictures of the place really dont do it justice. The beds are King sized feather topped, and theres a porch outside each room that you can see into the hills from. Breakfast was good, but rooms dont have a refrigerator so dont plan on keeping things for later. Rooms have only a shower in the bathroom, so dont expect a big hot tub. If you love the rustic atmosphere, and want to try something different, give this a shot.
We thoroughly enjoy our stay at Sierra Sky Ranch. It was what you expect a mountain hotel to be; quiet and in the middle of nature. We thought about extending our stay; if it hadnt been for my husband getting sick we would have stayed. The restaurant on site was amazing and the decor was outstanding. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
The hostess/front desk person was friendly and knowledgeable about the hotels history and amenities. The room, although old, was very modern. It was clean!!! Ive stayed in a lot of hotels recently, and they had the best mattresses by far. The 24/hour coffee/tea/hot chocolate area is a plus, along with the outdoor areas to relax.
The Hotel is a little further down from Yosemite National Park, but throughout the way to the Park there are several sight seeing spot.The rooms we stayed in (double bed) is kind of tight, but since we were just there to stay over for the night it was fine. Each room comes with a deck where u can sit and enjoy the natural habitat of the place. They are remodelling and adding more rooms around the hotel, so there were some construction noise starting in the morning. Everything else look nice and clean.
This was our second stay at this hotel. We absolutely love this hotel and will be back soon! The manager Amanda and night audit Jeff took care of us. You will love this quaint historic hotel. The grounds, common areas and the rooms are spotless. We enjoyed playing cards in the lobby. Such a beautiful place to stay anytime of the year.
Rooms are nice and clean, although smaller than most. Lots of restaurants nearby. Breakfast is included, although there isnt a big selection (cereal, muffins, bread, fruit, and yogurt). Staff is very helpful and friendly. Its about 1.5 hours from Yosemite, through winding mountain roads. The only minor complaint is that the driveways are not paved, so its very bumpy getting in and out.
Hotel kept very well & is very traditional. Staff are all friendly & extremely helpful. Restaurant menu is very limited. Housekeeping in rooms could be better. Breakfast not as expected providing only packaged pastries & chewy breakfast bars plus some fruit. Decking outside rooms is not divided allowing other guests to walk by your room window which gives no privacy. Handy for Yosemite & quiet .

2023-11-22 17:13:51Okay, so we stayed at this hotel for 4 days on a vacation to Yosemite. The rooms were cozy and had a cool cabin theme. There was a big fireplace and 3 large beds. We went in a group of 5, and we werent squeezed together. The only problem I could really find was the freezing cold showers. Anyway, the complementary breakfast was great, and they had a nice selection. The location was even better though, with Lewis Creek trailhead being a few miles away. And you cant forget Yosemite. 4 stars total, and I recommend this place to anyone who plans on going to Yosemite.

2023-08-07 23:59:59We had a great stay at the Sierra Sky Ranch in Oakhurst during a recent trip to Yosemite National Park. The hotel is about 1 hour from both Yosemites Tunnel View and Glacier Point if you leave early enough to beat traffic. (We left the hotel around 5 am each day of our visit.) The beds were incredibly comfortable, though the pillows could use an upgrade. Room size was good and having a balcony was a nice addition, especially to hang wet towels and bathing suits after using the pool. We could hear the people next to us, but thats how it is with every hotel anymore. Bring some ear plugs and youll be fine.We took advantage of the complimentary coffee each morning and also enjoyed the hot chocolate one night, but we left before the breakfast so I cannot say anything about that. It was too bad the restaurant was closed, but I highly recommend South Gate Brewing in Oakhurst for lunch or dinner as an alternative! Overall, we really only used the hotel to sleep and get ready so we could spend very full days at Yosemite, and the hotel did everything we needed it to do. Its not quite at a resort level if you plant to spend the whole day there, but is was great for those of us who just need a great place to sleep and recharge at the end of a long day.

2023-07-28 23:59:59The Sierra Star Ranch Hotel is cozy, rustic place to stay on your way to the South Gate of Yosemite. The hotel has wild west and cowboy vibes in the common areas. Our room, a King on the back side of the hotel, was small but comfortable. We liked having a back porch, though bugs/mosquitoes were a challenge to sit with. The mountain view was nice. Parking is ample and free. The pool, though we didnt use it, appeared clean and well kept. The breakfast was very light (cold cereal, toast, fruit), and I think not sufficient for guests heading to Yosemite. We instead went to Starbucks a few miles away and to the restaurant at the Tenaya Lodge on the way to the South Gate. Overall, it was a nice place, though still quite a drive from the South Gate.

2023-09-09 23:14:22The rooms are so tiny that my husband and I couldnt be in the bedroom together unless we were both on the bed. The pool was dirty, and cold. The location was fantastic because it was pretty close to the South entrance to Yosemite. The staff was very friendly. If you want a little bigger room I recommend the Jr. Suit. It is all by itself in the basement and it is adequately sized for a short stay. We could not unpack because the rooms were so small, and we were there for a few days, tripping over your luggage gets pretty old pretty fast.

2023-07-01 21:53:52A charming historic hotel in Oakhurst, in good proximity to Yosemites southern entrance. Extremely friendly staff and very clean room and grounds. Exquisite landscaping and peaceful setting. Plenty of free parking. Breakfast was simple, no hot options but enough to get you started. Bed was comfortable. Unfortunately I will never return to this hotel because it has zero insulation anywhere. I understand thats a risk you take staying in an old building and that they werent built like that. Doors, walls, windows, you hear everything everywhere. Every conversation, every footfall. Also the smallest shower stall Ive ever seen with very weak pressure. Shared balcony was a problem when my neighbors checked in at 8pm, yes I heard the entire conversation with staff showing them the room, and then they decided to have a dinner party right next to my windows and balcony doors. I gave them until 10 and after I called the front desk, they quieted down but the lack of privacy and any kind of sound insulation is a major downside of this otherwise charming and historic building.

2023-09-21 23:59:59We loved the Sierra Sky Ranch. We hadnt made concrete plans in the area and were perusing options - a bit of a Goldilocks & 3 Bears scenario. Everything was either too fancy, or too boring. As soon as we landed on this property we knew we found our place. Comfort, privacy, friendly but low-key, in the woods but close to amenities, knotty pine welcoming decor - we will beeline back again should we be so lucky to be in the area again.

2023-09-12 23:59:59This little gem was only about a mile off the beaten path, but far enough that one can experience peace and quiet. The furnishings are rustic, the hotel was built in the 1800 and still has a lot of old charm, yet the rooms are remodeled with modern plumbing. Id much rather stay in a place like this than a modern hotel.

2023-09-14 23:59:59The grounds were beautiful, and the staff was very nice. We had a great stay. We only had one issue... the A/C unit in our room was not working. Because the weather was so perfect in the evening, we were able to open the windows to cool the room before going to bed.

2023-10-12 00:36:35Loved it! Appreciate people with a common sense. A lovely lady from reception who store our milk in staff’s fridge as there was no fridge in our room. And it would be a problem, because my little one takes milk every morning and night. And a best wishes to restaurant lady Eva, so kind and generous, your smile makes the difference for people who comes to get a good memories.

2023-07-09 23:59:59When headed to Yosemite this quaint hotel is a nice place to stay. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. If you stay here I would recommend a Yeti type cooler as the rooms do not have fridges or anywhere to re freeze ice packs. This was the only outdated thing that I think could be helpful especially for the price. The ice will melt too fast on a super hot summer day. This was our only issue, everything else was as expected.
