This has to be the best Chinese food Ive tried in the area. Hands down the best hot and sour soup Ive had.
The place was nice and clean..there were about 25 customers. Very large portions. Two people could share..The chicken in our entrees was white? It looked boiled instead of baked or fried.
Classic! Ive been going to Silver Dragon for over 20 years, and theyre always consistently good. I was so glad to see that they reopened in their new location. The new place is bright and inviting. Their service is still great, and the food is amazing. One of my hometown staples.
The sweet and Sour pork will melt in your mouth! The sweet and sour soup is so flavorful. Again, have to come all the way to Calif to get decent Chinese cuisine.

This used to be my family’s go-to Chinese restaurant back in the 90’s, and I faithfully continued the tradition when I moved out on my own. Then I moved away for many years and just came back when they reopened on Madison & Fair Oaks. Their food is just as good if not better than I remember! It’s classic no-frills Chinese food well executed and without Vietnamese or Indian overtones which are fine when you’re in the mood for that but not when you just want old school Chinese takeout.And it’s not like most of the other classic old Chinese restaurants in the area that have gotten kind of tired and sad, it’s every bit as fresh and vibrant as I remember it.Silver Dragon, please just keep doing what you do so well and I will keep coming back to eat your food until the day I die 💕
I hate that I’m posting this but this is not our first time here. We’ve ordered take out multiple times and dined in, this was by far the worst. Usually the food is fantastic. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Veggie Fried Rice w/o egg and Veggie Chow Mein with a side of Cream Cheese WonTons. The only two items that were good were the WonTons and Orange Chicken, everything else tasted watered down, flavorless and was lack luster, not good. Kung Pao was not spicy at all. The fried rice had egg in it which we specifically asked for none. They were not busy, only 2 tables dining in while we were there. Of course we will give them the benefit of the doubt but for the price, it’s expected to be better. Until next time.

My family went out for dinner here for the 1st time and our experience was amazing. Everything was exceptional from the food, to the atmosphere, to our server. What a great little gem. We have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant for years. It’s official “ you win our hearts & stomach”
I grew up eating here. When I visit from Colorado, I have to make this a place I go. This place is a must! Hands down best Chinese food in town and out of town.Love the lo mein, orange chicken, walnut shrimp, and well just about everything Ive ordered here I would highly recommend.

I am a 30 year loyal customer; Even during COVID when these guys nearly died. Now, they serve me an entree of pork chow mein, for $14 take out, in a half inch of oil that needed to be drained from the food when I arrived home. What has happened to you? Yes they offered me a free replacement, but why bother? I have 30 Chinese take-outs near me and none of them serve grease. Serious shame. Fail. Hard. Also, youre customer service was trash when I came last. What are you thinking??? F-
My favorite Chinese food in Sacramento, they taught my kids how to use chopsticks 12-13 years ago. The portions are super generous, the food is absolutely delicious and the service is on point..
The first thing you notice when you walk in is the traditional decor and the smell of great food. Its a modern place with a traditional feel. The lighting was good, bright but not too bright. Open concept with plenty of tables/seating. We were seated quickly and given a cup of water and some fresh hot tea. The tea was delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious! We started off with some Egg Rolls and Potstickers, both were so tasty! My wife had the Orange Chicken, I had the Sesame Chicken, steamed rice. Both chicken plates were cooked perfectly and the sauces flavorful. We enjoyed all the food, this is our new go to Chinese food restaurant now. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend!

My wife decided to try this place for dinner last night. We have driven by several times and wanted to try someplace new. We were pleasantly surprised!The service was outstanding. Our tea and water glasses were constantly filled, without being asked. We were helped by several different people, felt taken care of without feeling smothered.The food came quickly even though it was fairly busy. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and crisp. And best of all, they didnt overload the entrees with celery. A big petpeeve of mine. They had some but it was minimal, and actually enhanced the texture rather than obliterated it, so thank you. Serving sizes were large and the price was right. Will definitely be coming back again.

Disgusting and bland! Go somewhere else. I was driving home from work and wanted to pick up some dinner. I had been craving egg rolls for the past week and decided to do a Google search for Chinese food along my route. This place came up as a 3 minute detour with a 4.5 star rating so I decided to call in a to go order. I ordered egg rolls, chicken chow mein, and broccoli beef.All there items came to $28. I was starving and started on an egg roll while driving home. The egg roll was average. Nothing to write home about.I get home and start digging in to the chow main and broccoli beef. Big red flag right away. The chow mein had the fat egg noodles. Its a sign that someone is trying to cut corners. Flavor taste and texture were all sub par with the mein. Cracked open the broccoli beef and saw the second red flag. Carrots and broccoli spilling out of the container but no meat. I scooped out a serving and had a taste. Disgusting! Its edible and all but not great by any means. Maybe good hang over food but no where near a 4.5 star rated $28 dollar meal.I would maybe rate this place 2 out of 5 stars but needed to rate this a 1 to offset the high ratings from people who dont know what good Chinese taste like. Seriously, panda Express would have been better.You have been warned. Go somewhere else.
Excellent! We had Wor Won Ton soup to begin, really for two people thats a perfect dinner! If not the best Ive had its one of the top 5! I also ordered the Beef and Scallops Sizzling Platter, that was excellent too! Just a wonderful dinner with incredibly friendly helpfull staff!

Had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and egg roll. Loved the fried rice and egg roll but the chicken was dry and over cooked. Some pieces were great but most of it was dry. I are most of the small pieces at the restaurant and took some rice and the big pieces home. Then when I went to eat it later I found out how dry the big pieces were. Was extremely disappointed. Through out most of the chicken that I brought home. But did finish the rice.

My friends and I are big fans of Silver Dragon and are happy to see it back in business. They have delicious food and friendly and attentive staff. This new location is clean and nicely decorated. It has a fresh and more modern decor than the original one. My only complaint is that the restaurant was uncomfortably warm.
They have lunch specials Daily until 3PM that come with hot & sour soup. Many options to choose from. The food comes out hot and fresh. The food is delicious and has large portions. They also have party trays. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Note: They are closed on Mondays. They also charge a small service for using a credit card. They offer a cash discount if you oay in cash.

Suffered from all the normal family Chinese restaurant defects ... they forgot things in our order, dishes came in dribs and drabs over an extended 20 mins, first entrees came around 2mins after appetizers were dropped at table.Ill definitely go back, food was great.

Went for Hot and Sour Soup and they delivered exactly the tast I was looking for. Also ordered the special combo which included soup, pork fried rice, chicken chow main, choice of entree and a egg roll. Serving size definitely would feed 2 maybe 3. Very generous. I’m not a huge fan of sesame chicken but that’s one dining companion wanted. I had some and what impressed me is that the chicken was not overly breaded. I hate places that bread meat so thick to hide that the meat portion is small. New go to . Thank you Silver Dragon!
Silver Dragon just opened a few days ago. They are working out the kinks. The lighting is far too bright and the walls are completely bare. There was no ambiance. The service was chaotic and slow. They forgot to include 2 items that we ordered but the food we got was good. They served my husband the wrong plate. I am hoping the opening will smooth out because we sure did love the old Silver Dragon.

The best house fried rice is here . Kinda looks and taste like a combination fried rice. The food here taste wonderful. A must go too !
Mongolian beef was cold. Deluxe vegetables were OK. We then waited a half an hour before our chicken chow mein and chicken fried rice came they were OK. While we were waiting we were asked if we wanted the check so we could leave because there was a line out the door and they needed the table. Not a place I would recommend at this time.
My husband and I love this place! I don’t think I’ve ever been to a better Chinese food place other than the ones in SF. The service is always fast (we’ve never had to wait even on a busy night) and everyone is friendly. The food is flavorful, cooked well, and very affordable. We often go and get a family dinner plus an extra app and it’s only around 30$. It’s obviously a staple in this community and we love it!

This place is amazing. I’ve been going there for 25 years and there housed special dried braised chicken is one of the best Chinese dishes I’ve ever tasted. We don’t live near by but we go out of our way to get silver dragon. Strongly recommend. And Travis K your red flag is the you got broccoli beef.
OMG! My wife and I are so very happy to see the best Chinese restaurant back in business. They are always so nice and the service is great. The food is awesome, better then I remember, and the wonton soup is amazing. I will only be going here from now on.
Six of us arrived without a reservation. Luckily a large party was just leaving so we didnt have to wait long for a table in this completely packed restaurant. We each ordered a lunch for around $7.00. It came with excellent hot and sour soup, and I had beef and spicy oil sauce. Yummy. Too much to eat in one sitting.
Alright, I think its time I reviewed this restaurant. I have been going to this restaurant since I was 5 years old, and I have had some my favorite memories here. This place, hands down, undoubtedly is thee best Chinese restaurant in Sacramento, maybe even the best ever. They have the greatest sweet and sour soup I have ever had. It has a spicy tang to it that is to die for. They have crazy good orange chicken, and some of the best walnut shrimp Ive ever had. The waiters can be a little moody, but overall, a really good restaurant to catch up with a friend for cheap. Its like the same price as panda express, except you get better quality Chinese food. Also, just eat at lunch because its cheaper.

This was 2 days ago, site still wrong. First time trying this place, not sure if its worth going back.

Their food and service is better than ever! The new location is not too far, and it seems roomier. Wor Wonton Soup is a meal unto itself, but my goodness... the Mu Shu Pork is DEVINE! Do yourself a favor and GO to Silver Dragon. Family, locally owned/operated, too!
You cant throw an egg roll in this town without hitting a Chinese restaurant. Silver Dragon stands out with good food, and thats what make people come back.

I have been coming here for 15+ years or more now. These guys ROCK!! I just went to Fats in Roseville the other day, for $15 per plate. Silver dragon is 1/2 that price, Twice the amount of food per plate, and way tastier. $20 covers a big lunch for 2 people easy with tax. Super nice staff. If you need a good go-to safe Chinese place..... keep this place in mind. Not once in all these years and meals have I ever had a bad dish here.
Ive been coming here ten plus years now. I have had exactly one bad experience out of 100+ times Ive been here, and we were immediatelytaken care of. The food is very generous in portions, especially when you factor in how much they give you and how cheap it is (7-12 dollars). The staff is very helpful and the food is delivered in a timely manner. They also do take out which is a plus. Highly recommend.

The prices are about 50% higher than posted on the menus online. As such, the value is definitely not there. DO NOT order egg fu young. It comes floating in a pool of cornstarch sauce with frozen mixed vegetable in it.

What Id like to say first is they are very accommodating. I ordered Shrimp and Vegetables (steamed instead of fried) sauce on the side, hold the chow mein and with a cup of Hot and Sour Soup. When it was served there was about 3 cups of rice on the plate. I asked for a to go box and it was brought immediately. The food was terrific, I dribbled just enough sauce to give me the flavor without all the extra fat and thickeners. When I was finished I felt Id had a delicious meal and a healthy one too. Service was obviously excellent. Love the comfort and feel of the restaurant. Dinner was under $13, and normally includes a cup of soup, egg roll, your entrée, fried rice/steamed rice, chow mein, oolong tea and fortune cookie. Go you wont be disappointed. Closed Mondays.
This has been our favorite restaurant since it opened decades ago. We are happy they are doing well in their new location and that it is still close to our home.
Called in an order for which we were told would be ready in 20 minutes. I went to pick up a half hour later, and ended up waiting forty minutes! Would have given one star, but the food is still good.
I’ve been goin to this restaurant since 1994 and it is by far the BEST Chinese food you’ve ever had. You top that with the friendly staff it’s a great experience. It is also my grown daughters fav as well-they won’t disappoint! The sweet and sour soup is soooo delicious...**Update (2022)-just saw they reopened their new location…so excited and my girls/I can’t wait to go have the best Chinese food in the area!
Great Place, Very Nice Waitresss, Cooks are Friendly to, Very Good Food at a Reasonable Price, Ima telling you you otta try it...Ive been eating here for more than 20yrs.Well ya probably heard the story about there lease, So they where moving to a new location at Fair Oaks Blvd and Madison Avenue there in fair oaks, same side of Madison but across the street from Star Bucks, they planed on opening in June but because of coronavirus its still not open. Darn I sure miss there Chinese food.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, the servers were very friendly and helpful. The meals arent skimpy and for around $7 - 9 dollars a plate the food was more than enough for two people. At this place you just cant go wrong, best spot in town.

Not real good but if you want to look for something close by Madison and Fair Oaks, this will work. Otherwise, I would look for a better service and quality location. Average for me. Wait time can be crazy during dinner hours.
The servers were robotic, not very pleasant. Im used to authentic Chinese food and this was not. The chicken was very bland, no seasoning. chow mein greasy. Utensils had to be sent back for clean ones. Received our appetizers at the end of the meal. Overall experience not very good. Will not return.
The food was outstanding. The one thing I did not care for was their sweet and sour but everything else we was outstanding.

I travel all over the US for business, and I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant that can beat Silver Dragon for flavor and service. They are consistently delicious and it doesnt matter what you order. I had a Chinese coworker come here to get his opinion, and he said that this was the best Chinese hes had in the Sacramento area. I yell everyone that they havent had good Chinese until theyve had Silver Dragon.
Friday night kinda crowded and the two waitresses are doing their best. Food is good. Shrimp and vegetable is good- potstickers very good. Chicken chow also good. Pass on the twice cooked pork.
I have had Chinese food in San Francisco, NY, OR, AZ, and half a dozen other states. This is by far the best restaurant and now that I live out of state I miss it. Anytime Im in Sacramento area I make sure to visit the Silver Dragon. Please never close!
This is my favorite place for Chinese food hands down, much better than Panda Express or China Buffet down the road. There chow mien and fried rice are excellent and they give you tons of food. The service is good sometimes hard to understand what the waitresses are saying, but overall good service for the atmosphere. If I want Chinese food this is where I go!

I ordered the spicy pork chow mien and egg rolls. The whole meal was nasty the noodles had no flavor the pork looked uncooked one side was brown and the other side was red. You couldnt even bit the egg roll as if the took some old ones and threw them in the microwave the dropped em in some grease not to mention there was so much oil on the plates afterwards
I prefer this restaurant over other oriental food in the general area. Always good and tasty.
The Silver Dragon is awesome. Always authentic. Always friendly. Always affordable, too. My wife and I are never disappointed and we can have a great diner for about $23 on average.
I got takeout. This place has delicious. The service was exceptional. The whole family enjoyed the food. Th general chicken; however, was not spicy . That disappointed me.
I initially gave them a 5 star review. There food was good and delivered quickly. Some lady just lied to me. She told me they havent delivered for 25 years. I hate being lied to!

OK food. It was not a 4 star but alright. What I can say is that if you want a heaping plate of rice, noodles and chicken with a guarantee that you have leftovers then you might like it. It just seemed like the main part of the dish, for example the General Tsos chicken, made up a small part of what was on the plate - mayybe 3 sizable pieces and a couple of small ones. It is surrounded by the mountain of rice and noodles. I guess it helps that the noodles also include chicken. Wait staff is attentive and busy, they were getting alot of takeout orders.

The absolute worst customer service the restaurant was dirty i asked for more soy sauce since my order was to go an she said 3 is enough but had i dined in i could use as much as i want on the way out i seen rat poop on the floor and roaches in the bathroom wont ne eating there food a complete waste of money

Also didnt like fortune cookies with ads on them- if youre so desperate for cash, stop wasting money serving caffeinated tea after 4 pm that no one wants. Some vegetarian offerings, not that many. Again, food was above par, but the eggplant...could have had more eggplant in it. Slightly too much oil as well. Firm tofu with the tofu dishes would have been better. And prices are higher than all reviewers admit to here, and rice is no longer included. Which is not appreciated. And if youre going to charge for rice, the pot should be full. Combinations are a better value, but not practical for people who dont eat meat.But food was made to order and flavorful.Decor is a mix of modern touches and older elements. Not quite sure the atmosphere theyre going for. Again, when the place has at least half empty tables (late lunch between lunch and dinner hours), theres no need to bring the check while food is still definitely being eaten.Id go again if in the area, but wouldnt come out of my way.

Satisfying when you want Chinese, but nothing over the top.I was a little surprised by the price of some items. I believe their Salt & Pepper Pork Spareribs are about $17; which is pretty high considering the cut of meat isnt the best and its nearly 50% inedible bones. We opted not to get the spareribs. Instead we ordered three dishes and one appetizer that came to about $72 after tip.-House chow mein (Hong Kong style pan fried noodles for an extra $2.00),-Pork fried rice-Honey Walnut Prawns-6 potstickersIm not a fan of these type of thick pillowy potstickers but the filling was tastier than other places locally.I would say that Chinese takeout is not the inexpensive dinner option it once was, but this place is probably one of the better options in this local area.

2023-06-26 01:21:09Went to Sunday dinner with 3 family members having not eaten inside the restaurant before. Have had 2 previous to go orders that were very good, so we excited to stay and check the place out. The service was about and beyond with three workers constantly asking for drink refills, removing plates, and serving numerous entrees and appetizers. Overall, great food, table service, large portions, and reasonable prices. Will definitely go back again.

2023-12-03 00:02:18Have been going here since early 2000’s. Always great food with large portions. Prices have gone up over the years but still worth every penny. The new location is very nice and not as cramped. We don’t go anywhere else because every place we’ve tried doesn’t even compare in taste. They are the best in the Sacramento area.

2023-05-21 21:28:14Came in to order the Sweet & Sour Pork Special Combination Plate. I asked the owner if I could eat the Soup of the Day there (note: soup is not included for take out) and he agreed; so that was nice of him (superb customer service). Hot & sour soup was excellent (not too spicy or sour) and so was the sweet and sour pork (a bit on the sweet side). BBQ pork fried rice and chicken chow mein were great. Prices might be a bit above average/median. Parking could be a bit of a problem for busy times since the plaza is a bit small and there aren’t that much parking spaces and room to maneuver.

2022-04-03 19:25:18Friendly staff. Love that it still comes with tea. Hot and sour soup was great. The green beans with chicken was exceptional (we added black bean sauce). Chow fun had that wonderful wok flavor - we got the house chow fun and it was delicious. The orange beef tasted so good - the sauce was tasty and you could taste the orange. It had just a tad too much batter (my husband loved it as-is).Definitely coming back.

2022-02-19 18:14:23We have been eating at Silver Dragon long long time, and we were so excited they are finally reopening in a new location. The food is even better than before, the price is great (despite we are in a high inflation economy), and the service is always nice. My kids have been asking me to go back for the chowmein and I am so happy they are back in business.

2023-10-30 17:54:16We have been here several times.The food was terrible. The crab cream cheese wontons were terrible. They didnt have crab and were rubbery. They werent fried. The wor won ton soup had no cabbage. Instead full of onions. It use to be the best. The orange chicken didnt have orange taste. The food seemed flavorless. I wont be back.
