Simple One Cafe in Daly City

I had high hopes for another neighborhood dessert shop, but this wasn’t a good experience. Ordered the honeydew melon sago dessert: it was essentially an icy soup with bits of fruit. The sago was clumped together as if it was still thawing from the freezer. Never had such a poor Cantonese style dessert before.Lastly the place was empty at 8p but every table was dirty. No one bothered to wipe down any of the tables.Hard pass.

Really good baked meat sauce spaghetti and chicken a la king baked rice. Their set means come with a small milk tea boba, which you can upgrade to coconut mango sago for $3.75. The food is really good and drinks delicious. We got there a little after 6 on Saturday and it got super busy after with so many to go orders.

Its been a while since I was last here, but my has their menu grown since they first opened.The place still looks the same, but the difference is that you place the order at the register now instead of them taking your order. It wasnt super busy, but the person who works there didnt seem too happy to help me either.I went here because I was craving the fried buns with condensed milk, and it was just like I remembered. Crispy on the outside with a balanced fluffy and doughiness on the inside.Peanut butter toast with condensed milk did not taste the same. It had a hint of coconut taste to it that I wasnt a fan of and lacked a creaminess to it.Waffles (hk style)- i got it because I was curious. I mean, you really cant go wrong with waffles. I was wrong. This had the same filling as my toast, and the filling was mainly on one side. They made it into a sandwich, which left me with wanting something more, and this fell short.French fries - surprisingly tasty and crunchy.Popcorn chicken - crunchy, flavorful, and moist on the insideMango matcha latte - This was good, but I was expecting like fresh mango chunks or something. Instead, it was a puree smeared around the cup. I was also a little disappointed they dont have the cups anymore that have their logo on it.

Its a cafe so dont expect full service restaurant level service. My three stars isnt a ding on the service, just relative to what you get. The kids just do their job.Atmosphere is based on tidiness and setup, its nice for what it is and nicer than many similar places, rating is relative to other cafes.My food rating is based ONLY on the drinks we get and the braised pork bowl. Between our kids and ourselves weve had at least a hundred drinks here, especially the coconut sago ones which are the best around. We used to go down to San Bruno but after this place opened, we have never gone back, Simple Ones versions are hands down better. Weve tried similar at other places and the result is the same, we wished we had a Simple One version in our hand.Weve not tried any of the food yet so I cannot comment on that other than the braised pork bowl which is a great and simple meal, enough to quell your hunger unless you consume mass quantities.

Stopped in to try the bingsu. Ordered mixed fruit chocolate bingsu, strawberry sage and lychee sago drinks. They top the drinks with fresh fruit, nice touch. Both drinks were good and refreshing. The bingsu was a healthy portion size. Smooth chocolate shaved ice and fresh fruit to top. I think my son ate least a quarter of it himself, it was smooth and not Icy. Good refreshing dessert.

Nice place to enjoy a simple meal with milk tea with or without boba. The combo meals are tasty, decently price in just the right amount.Baked pork chop over rice was good, though the rice was not hot enough. Fried chicken wings are nicely crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender inside.I would skip the tofu red bean dessert though. The tofu tasted of the plastic container it was stored in.Boba was just the right texture and flavor. Tea was nice and strong. It was a little too sweet and a bit too much ice so I’ll ask for less of both next time.The staff were all very friendly and patient with our questions.I would definitely come back again.

Friendly neighborhood restaurant run by nice people with good basic comfort food. Good choice of drinks and dessert.Baked spaghetti was delicious with chunks of fresh tomatoes. Pork chop and chicken wing rice also delicious. Dinner combos comes with a lemon tea or boba milk tea. Yum!Will come back and try more things.

It doesnt get crazy hot in the Bay Area but a nice refreshing dessert is always a good thing to have.Simple One makes some delicious bingsu, fresh fruits and light ice. Perfect to soothe a hot day. Pair it with some delicious boba or sago and you have a perfect treat.@phidingthefam

My favorite place for dessert and other snacks. I definitely recommend getting the Original Bingsu, as well as the Mango Sago w/ Mixed Fruit (my two favorites). Super decent pricing.Pictured:• Original Bingsu• Fried Tofu

Great spot for quality and delicious dessert or hot snacks! The staff is friendly and welcoming, the place is clean and the menu offers a lot! This is my new go-to spot for quick eats and great desserts.
