The Jerk Chicken is amazing and authentic! I hadnt had real Jamaican food in years since I moved away from my best friend and Siphos brought back a little piece of my past of some of the best memories you can ask for. Recommend dine-in or takeout. With Siphos you cant go wrong, Ya Mon!!PS: My husband had the Salmon sandwich and to this days he continues to dream about it!

Absolutely the best.We first found their delicious food at the Thursday night market during the summer and would go every single Thursday to get delicious jerk chicken.Once we found out they had a restaurant we were absolutely hooked!! My favorite part is going for their Jamaican buffet! It’s a great way to try everything you’ve always wanted to from the amazing cuisine.The owner is incredibly kind and really cares about you and the food he serves.You will feel like family and are truly missing out if you skip this incredible place.Yah Man!

I love this place!!! My brother brought me here for dinner before covid, and it was so good! We just came up from the Sacramento area for his birthday tonight, and it is still just as fantastic! The Jerk Chicken is literally the best chicken Ive ever eaten. The plantains are awesome. The kids chicken strips and island fries were amazing! My kiddo is really picky, but loved the plantains and even had some of my chicken and loved that too! Atmosphere is super relaxed, staff is super nice, and no one is rushing to get you out. You can actually sit and have a family meal and really enjoy each others company in a cool space with incredible food. Prices are ultra reasonable, and portions are enough to bring home a snack :) I cant recommend it enough :)
We loved our evening at Sipho’s! The food was authentic, service really put it over the top. We arrived very shortly before closing and they welcomed us in cheerfully and told us several times to relax and take our time. Friendly, cheerful staff and atmosphere took me straight to the Caribbean. 10/10

Every time I eat here, I leave feeling like I just ate at a friends grandmas home. The food is always excellent and flavorful. You can taste the love that Sipho puts into his craft. I suggest trying this place at least once; you will return!!!
Siphos is a great little restaurant. Im not super familiar with Jamaican cuisine, but everything Ive tried here is top notch. Its very comforting food, yet also interesting in terms of spices and ingredients. The staff are friendly and the food comes pretty quickly. My only gripe would be the bones you have to pick out of the stewed meats, but that is pretty inconsequential when all is said and done. Definitely would recommend!
So I never post reviews, buuuut if you havent been here yet, youre missing out. The food was amazing, very authentic and delicious, great music, great energy and the owners are so warm and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back. Much love and thank you guys for everything!😊

I have known this place was here for a long time and have always said Ill try it later. What a mistake.The food here was great, I got the Jerk Chicken and it was wonderful! My wife got the Curried Chicken and said it was great as well. The Ginger Lemonade was also great.The atmosphere was laid back and my wife commented it that it felt like we were on a mini vacation(we were seated outside under the palms).The server was the friendliest and sweetest server I have had at a restaurant in a long time, stopping to talk with us and chatting with my wife.We will definately be eating here again soon.
Check this place out! Ive had Jamaican food before and their salt fish with Acke fruit is a must. Red beans and rice with fried plantains, please! The staff is super friendly and even on togo orders you wont be disappointed.In my experience they made sure to read back my order and double check it with the kitchen so it was correct. They jelped me carry everything out even!Essentially, I really love their food and Ive fallen even more in love with their restaurant just because they care about their patrons.If youre into trying different food, please give them a shot. You wont be disappointed.
We lived in Jamaica for a year and ever since I have sooo missed the food. Siphos was like going back to Belmont, Jamaica! Not only was the food cooked with the same loving care, but it took us back to our yard, learning to cook Jamaican dishes in our outdoor kitchen. The owner is charming and friendly and if you find the service slow, its because hes taking the time to cook it right...its not microwaved. Soon come! No problem. I had been trying to make fried plantain for years and couldnt quite manage it consistently. He took the time to show me how to do it right. Ill be forever grateful - especially on the mornings I have Fried Plantain and eggs, with Cocoa tea. I only wish I still lived in Chico, so I could go there A LOT!!
One of the best meals I have eaten in Chico. A hidden gem on Dayton road. A place not to be missed. The service was extremely. personal and friendly. The menu is of all Jamaican dishes. I enjoyed the Curry Goat. Like I said one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Dont pass this one up. I highly recommend this small but worthwhile restaurants in the Chico area.
Shared the sampler plate with my mom and enjoyed every bite! I’m a big fan of goat and theirs is great. Ginger lemonade was delicious, and the woman serving us was very personable. Next time I’m in town I’ll be coming back here for sure.
Service is spectacular, this place is pretty quiet and out of the way so its possible youl be the only one in the restaurant and get full attention of the waiter. The food was flavorful, healthy and came in huge portions. The setting is thematic and they have a great patio. Every 2nd Saturday of the month they have a lunch buffet so if you are not sure you like Jamaican food thats a good place to start. Food does come traditional and has bones in it so if you are eating with little ones pick through their plate a bit to avoid choking hazards.
Highly highly recommend! Great staff, amazing food, fun atmosphere, and very welcoming. They have an amazing outdoors that is nice and cool for the summer. There is a bit of a wait but the food is definitely worth it. Please give this fantastic place a visit! They are at farmers market too!!

Love this place always. If youre wanting fresh cooked comfort food without the guilt...Siphos is the place to be. Go out for sushi or Indian food. Wont find atmosphere there. Just food. Come here for good food, music, and good people.

Horrible experience! Ordered over the phone and after waiting for close to an hour, I opened the 2 orders and they were wrong...the cook came out and told me they didnt have what I ordered and instead of informing me while I sat there, he waited til I opened it and then told me he was closed so he couldnt fix it...then the cashier gave me the wrong change (shorted) me and when I brought it to her attention she had an attitude. So I asked the cook to at least remove the stuff off my plate that I didnt order due to allergies and he scraped it off and replaced it with what I actually ordered after first telling me he didnt have it! If this was in LA, where I drove from, it wouldve been closed the day it opened. I wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy!
What an absolute corner of West Indian heaven nestled in the quaintest residential/ almond orchard Chico neighborhood! We are SO LUCKY to have this gem here! As someone who avoids sugar in my diet i didnt think the jerk would be an option for me, but was promptly informed that this one contains none! Regaled with Siphos personal, super-warm service, he also explained that the perfectly succulent and seasoned jerk chicken is cooked over almond wood he trades a neighboring farmer for, emulating the traditional Jamaican technique with the ubiquitous Chico tree. I will be returning as soon as i can make an excuse!
Amazingly delicious and authentic food. Took a group of 17 (!!) here and they served us buffet style - fish, chicken, rice and beans, salad, curry, etc. Everything was wonderful and we had a great time!

I love to cook and do so every day. There are secrets in these dishes that will amaze you. I have no idea how he got the chicken so tender. I will be going back again and again to discover and hopefully replicate these secrets!
All of the dishes at Siphos are delicious, and have unique flavors not found in other foods. My favorites are the curried goat and chicken, and the brown stewed chicken and escovitch.

On Tempo Saturdays (2nd Saturday of the month) they do a buffet thats out of this world. They also go to the market on Thursday nights! You gotta try them!

Everyone at the table was quietly enjoying their meals; even my teenager. Janet was so hospitable, sweet, and welcoming. A great experience all around!!!

2021-08-09 05:04:29As a Jamaican living in the North State, I was beyond excited when my friend told me theres a Jamaican restaurant in Chico. We were both missing home (Ja) and decided to drive the 1.5hrs to this restaurant just to get a taste of home. I had the brown stewed fish which was actually salmon fillet. I was very disappointed that I drove so far just to be served salmon. If you are a Jamaican expecting to be served real Jamaican stewed fish, forget it. The food taste good and probably works for people who doesnt know better
